ESPOLY Cooperative Economics and Management Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

Cooperative Economics and Management is missing from JAMB’s course list for ESPOLY (Myschool reprint), though ESPOLY has run it. See the 100 minimum, the old 120 floor, UTME subjects, O’level, CAPS steps and alternatives for 2027/2028.

Before you plan around an ESPOLY Cooperative Economics and Management cut-off mark, check one thing: the course is not on JAMB’s course list for Enugu State Polytechnic in the Myschool reprint of that list. ESPOLY has run the course before and a 2026 course list still shows it, so the JAMB listing may simply be out of date. If the course does appear under ESPOLY when you register, the score to plan with is JAMB’s polytechnic minimum of 100. ESPOLY’s last published floor was 120 in 2021/2022.

2027/2028 update: ESPOLY cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Below you will find the official figures, a safe target score, the UTME subjects and O’level credits JAMB asks for, what to do if JAMB does not show the course, the CAPS steps, and where else in Enugu you can study cooperative economics.

Is Cooperative Economics and Management on JAMB’s list for ESPOLY?

Not on the reprint I checked on 29 October 2026. Myschool’s copy of JAMB’s course list for Enugu State Polytechnic (shortened to Enu-poly there) has 10 courses: Accountancy, Agricultural Technology, Animal Health and Production Technology, Banking and Finance, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Horticultural Technology, Production Tech and Statistics (Myschool course list). Cooperative Economics and Management is missing.

That does not mean ESPOLY has dropped it. Its 2021/2022 screening notice, reprinted by Myschool on 30 November 2021, named Cooperative Economics and Management among 17 ND programmes (Myschool reprint). Teezab’s course list of 20 July 2026 also puts the ND in ESPOLY’s School of Business Studies, though Teezab is a blog and cites no ESPOLY document. ESPOLY’s own programmes page could not be opened when I checked, so I cannot confirm from an ESPOLY source that the department is admitting for 2026/2027.

What this means if you are writing the UTME

  • JAMB’s registration and change-of-course screens only offer courses JAMB has listed for an institution. If Cooperative Economics and Management does not appear under Enugu State Polytechnic, you cannot pick it there.
  • Every ND admission now goes through JAMB CAPS. JAMB said at its 11 May 2026 policy meeting that admissions outside CAPS are illegal, so a departmental letter without a CAPS offer is not an admission.
  • If the live JAMB screen does show the course under ESPOLY, the reprint is behind and you can go ahead.
  • If it does not, you have two sensible moves: choose a listed business course at ESPOLY, or keep Cooperative Economics and Management and choose IMT Enugu or the Federal Cooperative College, Oji River.

ESPOLY Cooperative Economics and Management cut-off mark: official figures

ESPOLY’s announcement of 15 May 2026 says it is accepting applications for the 2026/2027 session but gives no minimum score (espoly.edu.ng). So the national floor applies. JAMB kept the polytechnic minimum at 100 for 2026/2027 (NAN, 11 May 2026), the same figure as 2025/2026 (Nairametrics, 8 July 2025). The last time ESPOLY set its own floor in public was 2021/2022, when its screening notice called for 120 and above.

No ESPOLY notice has ever given a separate cut-off for Cooperative Economics and Management. Any departmental figure you see on a blog is unofficial.

Safe target score (consultant advice)

I would aim for 130 or more. That is my planning figure, not an ESPOLY number. Cooperative economics usually draws fewer applicants than Accountancy, so you do not need a very high score, but 130 puts you clear of ESPOLY’s old 120 floor and keeps a switch to Accountancy or to IMT realistic if the JAMB listing problem blocks you.

Your UTME scoreWhat it means for Cooperative Economics and Management at ESPOLY
Below 100Not eligible for any polytechnic
100 to 119Eligible by JAMB’s rule, but below ESPOLY’s last published floor
120 to 129Possible if the course is open to you on JAMB
130 to 159Comfortable, and enough to switch to another business course
160 and aboveStrong; consider whether you want a degree route instead

UTME subject combination for Cooperative Economics and Management

JAMB’s polytechnic brochure asks for Use of English, then Mathematics and any two of Economics, Geography, Biology or Agricultural Science, History, Government, Commerce and Principles of Accounts (brochure entry). The remarks on that page name IMT Enugu (as IMTE), the Federal Cooperative College, Oji River (FEDCOOP-OJI), Nekede and Imo State Polytechnic. None names Enugu State Polytechnic, so ESPOLY uses the general rule.

SubjectStatus
Use of EnglishCompulsory for every UTME candidate
MathematicsCompulsory
Two of Economics, Geography, Biology or Agricultural Science, History, Government, Commerce, Principles of AccountsYour choice

The combination I would sit is English, Mathematics, Economics and Commerce. Economics carries a lot of the ND course, and the same four subjects also qualify you for Accountancy and Banking and Finance at ESPOLY. If you think IMT may be your fallback, note that IMT’s remark asks for History or Government plus Commerce or Principles of Accounts, so English, Mathematics, Government and Commerce works for both schools. Our JAMB Economics syllabus and JAMB Government syllabus guides cover what to read.

O’level requirements for Cooperative Economics and Management

The brochure asks for five credits including English Language and Mathematics. Literature in English cannot replace English Language. The other three credits come from Economics or Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Geography, Office Practice, Government, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History, Typewriting and Shorthand.

RequirementDetail
Number of creditsFive
CompulsoryEnglish Language and Mathematics
Best three othersEconomics, Commerce, and Government or Principles of Accounts
SittingsNo more than two (reported by Teezab; confirm on the ESPOLY portal)
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO, NABTEB (reported)

The Federal Cooperative College remark on the same brochure page accepts four credits at one sitting and a pass in Mathematics. That concession is written for Oji River only. Do not assume ESPOLY applies it.

HND and Direct Entry

JAMB’s brochure page gives no Direct Entry rule for this course, and HND admission does not go through the UTME. Teezab’s 2026/2027 HND list for ESPOLY does not include Cooperative Economics and Management, so you may need to take the HND elsewhere. NBTE’s January 2026 brochure of approved curricula does list both ND and HND Cooperative Economics and Management. For ESPOLY’s general HND rules, see our ESPOLY HND guide.

ESPOLY screening and a worked example

ESPOLY has not published a post-UTME test, screening fee or timetable for 2026/2027. Its website sends applicants to portal.espoly.edu.ng/applicant.php. On 14 May 2026 it posted portal guides for ND 1 and HND 1 students and said the portal was working for payments. The school fees schedule link on the site leads nowhere. The 2021/2022 notice asked candidates to make ESPOLY their first choice or change to it, and I would still do that.

Worked example (illustrative)

Chidera scored 134 with English, Mathematics, Economics and Commerce. Her O’level from one WAEC sitting reads English C4, Mathematics C5, Economics B3, Commerce C4, Government C6. She clears JAMB’s 100, ESPOLY’s old 120 and my 130 target, and she has the five credits with English and Mathematics.

Many polytechnics rank ND applicants by mixing UTME and O’level scores half and half. As an illustration only: her UTME half is 134 divided by 8, which is 16.75. Scoring A1 as 10, B2 as 9, B3 as 8, C4 as 7, C5 as 6 and C6 as 5, her five grades give 7 + 6 + 8 + 7 + 5 = 33. Her illustrative total is 49.75 out of 100. ESPOLY has published no aggregate formula, so treat this only as a way to compare yourself with other applicants.

Her real risk is the listing. If Cooperative Economics and Management is not under ESPOLY on JAMB, her score and subjects already fit ESPOLY Accountancy or Banking and Finance, and IMT would accept her if she had sat Government.

How to apply for Cooperative Economics and Management at ESPOLY

  1. Create your JAMB profile: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line you will use. JAMB replies with a profile code for registration.
  2. Check the course on JAMB: look for Cooperative Economics and Management under Enugu State Polytechnic. If it is not there, choose a listed course or another school.
  3. Write the UTME: aim for 130 or more. Our guide on how to check your JAMB result shows what to do once the score is out.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB accredited centre. If you used two sittings, upload both, and make sure awaiting results are uploaded once they are out.
  5. Apply on the ESPOLY portal: go to portal.espoly.edu.ng/applicant.php and fill in the form for Cooperative Economics and Management. Pay only the amount the portal generates and keep the receipt.
  6. Accept on CAPS: when ESPOLY offers you a place, accept it on JAMB CAPS. JAMB’s 2026 rules withdraw an offer that is not accepted within four weeks. Our JAMB CAPS guide shows the screens.
  7. Pay acceptance and register: print your JAMB admission letter, then pay ESPOLY’s acceptance and school fees through the portal. ESPOLY has not published these amounts, so do not pay anyone outside the portal.

JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education, so the current cycle runs until that date. To move your choice to ESPOLY, read JAMB change of institution; to switch course, see JAMB change of course.

Warning

Do not pay anyone for a Cooperative Economics place at ESPOLY until you have seen the course under Enugu State Polytechnic on JAMB and received a CAPS offer. A valid ND admission always shows on JAMB CAPS.

Your chances of admission

If the course is open on JAMB, a score of 130 or more with clean credits in English, Mathematics and Economics should be competitive. That is my judgement from how cooperative economics usually fills at state polytechnics; ESPOLY has released no applicant numbers. If the course is not open, your score decides how freely you can switch.

What you study in Cooperative Economics and Management

ESPOLY has not published its course outline. The ND follows NBTE’s national curriculum, which NBTE’s January 2026 brochure of approved curricula lists as ND Cooperative Economics and Management. In practice the two years cover:

  • Principles of cooperation, cooperative history and cooperative law in Nigeria
  • Economics, business mathematics and statistics
  • Book-keeping, cooperative accounting and auditing of cooperative societies
  • Cooperative credit, thrift and savings schemes and microfinance
  • Marketing and agricultural cooperatives
  • Management of cooperative societies, entrepreneurship and computer appreciation
  • Supervised Industrial Work Experience (SIWES) after the first year, then a project in year two

Duration and accreditation

A full-time ND takes two years (four semesters). An HND takes two more years after the ND and a year of industrial attachment. Whether ESPOLY’s Cooperative Economics and Management programme holds current NBTE accreditation is not confirmed: ESPOLY publishes no accreditation statement, and Teezab’s claim that all its courses are NBTE approved cites no document. Ask the department for its NBTE accreditation letter before you pay fees.

Careers

  • Cooperative officer or inspector with state and local government cooperative departments
  • Staff of cooperative societies, thrift and credit societies and microfinance banks
  • Field officer with agricultural and rural development projects
  • Starting or managing your own cooperative or small business
  • HND or a degree in Cooperative Economics, Economics or Business after the ND

Mistakes to avoid

  • Taking a course list on a blog as proof: only the JAMB screen tells you whether you can choose the course.
  • Planning with 100 alone: it makes you eligible, but ESPOLY’s own last floor was 120.
  • Leaving out Mathematics: it is compulsory in the UTME and at O’level.
  • Counting Literature in place of English Language: the brochure rules it out.
  • Forgetting the O’level upload: ESPOLY cannot recommend you on CAPS without it.
  • Missing the four-week CAPS acceptance window.
