IMT Cooperative Economics and Management Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

The IMT Cooperative Economics and Management cut off mark is JAMB’s polytechnic minimum of 100. IMT’s brochure remark changes the UTME subjects you should pick; see it here with screening and CAPS steps.

The IMT Cooperative Economics cut off mark is 100 in the UTME, JAMB’s minimum for polytechnics for 2026/2027. The Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, has not published a higher figure for ND Cooperative Economics and Management in any notice I found.

2027/2028 update: IMT cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

This course usually has fewer applicants than Accountancy or Business Administration, which makes it one of the more realistic business options at IMT. It also has an IMT-specific subject remark in JAMB’s brochure that many candidates miss. Below are the official minimum, the subject rules, my safe target, the screening process, an example and the CAPS steps.

IMT cut-off mark history for Cooperative Economics and Management

IMT does not publish course-by-course cut-off marks for its ND programmes, so the history below is the national floor that applies to every polytechnic, plus one older IMT figure you will keep seeing on blogs.

SessionFigureWhat it isStatus
2026/2027100JAMB national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnicsOfficial (NAN, 11 May 2026)
2025/2026100JAMB national minimum for polytechnicsOfficial (Nairametrics and Channels TV, 8 July 2025)
2023 UTME120IMT’s own ND screening threshold in a 2023 noticeOld; reprinted on blogs under 2026 headings

The 120 that blogs attach to IMT is from its 2023 screening notice. It is not a Cooperative Economics figure and not a 2026 figure. JAMB’s polytechnic minimum was 100 in 2025 and in 2026.

Safe target score for Cooperative Economics and Management at IMT (my advice)

What follows is my judgement as an admissions adviser. IMT has not published it.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Cooperative Economics and Management at IMT
Below 100Not eligible for any polytechnic, IMT included
100 to 119Eligible; a place is possible with good O’level grades
120 to 149Competitive
150 and aboveStrong

These bands are lower than for Accountancy because fewer candidates choose Cooperative Economics first. That is a pattern across Nigerian polytechnics, not published IMT data. For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 130 or more, ideally 150.

Catchment and state of origin

IMT is owned by Enugu State, so Enugu indigenes are its home catchment, but it admits candidates from every state. IMT has not published a merit, catchment or quota split for its ND courses, so do not plan around a formula that it has never announced. Your UTME score, your O’level grades and how early your documents are complete matter more.

UTME subject combination and O’level requirements for IMT Cooperative Economics and Management

RequirementCooperative Economics and Management (ND) at IMT
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics and two from Economics, Geography, Biology or Agricultural Science, History, Government, Commerce, Principles of Accounts (general list)
IMT remark in the brochureUTME: “IMTE requires History/Government, Commerce/Principles of Accounts.” O’level: five credits at not more than two sittings.
Combination I would registerEnglish, Mathematics, Government, Commerce (History may replace Government; Principles of Accounts may replace Commerce)
O’levelFive credits including English Language and Mathematics, plus three from JAMB’s approved list, which includes Economics, Commerce, Principles of Accounts, Government and Agricultural Science.
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO or NABTEB (SSCE or GCE)
SittingsNot more than two
Direct EntryNot used for ND. Entry into HND is with a relevant ND, handled by IMT’s HND form, not the UTME
Special requirementsNone published for Cooperative Economics and Management

Read IMT’s remark carefully. JAMB’s general list for Cooperative Economics accepts many subjects, but IMT’s remark names History or Government together with Commerce or Principles of Accounts. Economics is not in that remark. The safest reading is to register Mathematics, Government and Commerce, and to confirm on your JAMB e-Facility profile before you pay for registration. Economics is still worth having at O’level.

Use of English is compulsory for every UTME candidate, so it is not repeated in the brochure lists. Brochure entries change, so open your JAMB e-Facility profile and read the current Cooperative Economics and Management entry for IMT Enugu before you register.

How IMT screening works for ND Cooperative Economics and Management

IMT’s website links a notice titled “Call for 2026/2027 admission into ND and HND programs (regular and part-time)”, and applications run through the SLMS application page on portal.imt.edu.ng. The admission result checker is on the same portal. The 2026/2027 screening fee, dates and test format were not in any official source I could open, so the table separates what is confirmed from what is only reported.

Worked example for a Cooperative Economics and Management applicant

IMT has not published an aggregate formula for ND admission. Some blogs print one, but none cites an IMT document, so the example below only measures the gap between a UTME score, the national floor and my safe target.

Kosisochukwu scored 137 with English, Mathematics, Government and Commerce in the UTME, and has C4 in English, C5 in Mathematics, B3 in Economics, B3 in Commerce and C4 in Agricultural Science from one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 137 minus 100 = 37 above the minimum.
  2. Subject check: Government and Commerce match IMT’s brochure remark.
  3. Against my safe target: 137 minus 130 = 7 inside the competitive band.
  4. What I would advise: apply, keep CAPS updated and accept quickly if the offer comes.

Emeka scored 142, but his UTME subjects were English, Mathematics, Economics and Biology. His score is fine, yet his combination does not include the History or Government and Commerce or Principles of Accounts that IMT’s remark names. He should confirm on the e-brochure whether IMT accepts his subjects before relying on this course.

How to apply for Cooperative Economics and Management at IMT, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register for the UTME: choose Cooperative Economics and Management with English, Mathematics, Government and Commerce, and pick IMT Enugu as your polytechnic choice. If you picked another school, do a JAMB change of institution before IMT screening closes.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to an accredited CBT centre and have your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result uploaded. If your result was awaiting at registration, upload it as soon as it is out.
  4. Watch IMT’s notice: the admission call appears on imt.edu.ng and the form opens on portal.imt.edu.ng. Use only the official portal.
  5. Fill the screening form and pay: enter your JAMB number, generate the invoice, pay through the channel the portal names, then finish the form and print your slip.
  6. Check your result and CAPS: use the result checker on portal.imt.edu.ng, then log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status and open CAPS.
  7. Accept within four weeks: JAMB set four weeks for 2026 offers. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains every status.
  8. Pay acceptance and clear: blogs put IMT’s acceptance fee at ₦25,000, but IMT has not published it in any source I reached. Pay only against an invoice from the IMT portal.

Warning

Every genuine IMT offer appears on JAMB CAPS. Anyone selling an “IMT Cooperative Economics and Management slot” or a special list is not part of the process. Pay fees only through invoices generated on portal.imt.edu.ng.

Your chances of getting Cooperative Economics and Management at IMT

Cooperative Economics is usually less crowded than IMT’s financial courses, so a score in the 120s or 130s can be competitive here when it would be weak for Accountancy. That is the main reason candidates pick it.

The risk in this course is the subject combination, not the score. A candidate who meets 100 with the wrong subjects may not be considered, so check IMT’s remark before registering for the 2027 UTME.

Cooperative Economics and Management also runs at HND level at IMT, and it is on IMT’s official part-time programme page.

Studying Cooperative Economics and Management at IMT Enugu

Cooperative Economics and Management trains people to run and audit cooperative societies, credit unions and community finance groups. IMT offers it at ND and HND level within its business studies programmes. The ND is two years full-time, then a year of industrial attachment before HND.

What you study

  • Cooperative core: cooperative principles and law, cooperative accounting and audit, and cooperative management.
  • Finance: microfinance, credit and savings schemes, and business finance.
  • Supporting courses: economics, agricultural cooperatives and marketing, business law and statistics.
  • Practical work: computer applications and SIWES placement, often with cooperatives or microfinance banks.

Accreditation

At IMT’s Global Homecoming on 13 June 2026, the Rector, Prof. Sunday Gozie Ogbodo, said all courses offered by IMT are now fully accredited, after more than 70% of programmes had expired accreditation when he took office in 2024. An NBTE accreditation team visited in November 2025. NBTE has not published a programme-by-programme result for Cooperative Economics and Management that I could find, so its individual status is not confirmed. Ask the department to show it during clearance if this matters to you.

Careers

  • Officer in cooperative societies, thrift and credit unions
  • Microfinance bank and community finance roles
  • Cooperative officer in state ministries and local government councils
  • Agricultural marketing and farmer cooperative support

If you are writing the UTME again, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and what to do with your JAMB score first.

Mistakes that cost Cooperative Economics and Management applicants an IMT place

  • Ignoring IMT’s subject remark: it names History or Government and Commerce or Principles of Accounts.
  • Assuming Economics is enough: it is not in IMT’s remark.
  • Treating 100 as admission: it is only the minimum to apply.
  • No O’level on CAPS: IMT reads it from there.
  • Paying anyone outside the portal: every genuine offer is on CAPS.

IMT Cooperative Economics cut off mark: frequently asked questions
