The FCC Oji River Banking and Finance cut-off mark for 2027/2028 is not published, so plan with JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics, 100. JAMB kept that figure for 2026/2027 at its policy meeting of 11 May 2026, after using the same score for 2025/2026. Federal Cooperative College, Oji River lists Banking and Finance among the seven departments it admits into at ND and HND level.
2027/2028 update: FCC Oji River cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Below are the floor and a safe target, JAMB’s subject combination, the O’level rule, HND and weekend entry, what screening involves, the full route to CAPS acceptance, and where a Banking and Finance diploma leads, including the 2023 agreement between CIBN and NBTE on how the course is taught.

Nothing in the table is a 2026 college notice; the college has not issued one that I could find. The JAMB rules apply nationally, and the college details come from its 2021 and 2022/2023 adverts and reports.
FCC Oji River Banking and Finance cut-off mark
FCC Oji River has not published a departmental cut-off mark for Banking and Finance, and I found no list of cut-offs for any of its seven departments. What does exist is the national floor. At its 2026 policy meeting on 11 May 2026, JAMB kept the minimum UTME score for polytechnics and monotechnics at 100 for the 2026/2027 session, the same figure it set for 2025/2026. A federal cooperative college admitting into ND programmes falls under that floor, so 100 is the lowest score FCC Oji River can legally accept for ND Banking and Finance.
| Session | National minimum (polytechnics and monotechnics) | FCC Oji River Banking and Finance cut-off | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | Not published | JAMB 2026 policy meeting (NAN, 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | Not published | JAMB statement reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025 |
| 2027/2028 | Not yet fixed; JAMB normally sets it at the policy meeting before admissions | Not published | Plan with 100 as the floor |
Safe target score (consultant advice)
A score of 100 only makes you eligible. With no published cut-off, my advice is to treat 150 or above as a safe target for Banking and Finance at FCC Oji River. That figure is my own planning number, not a college figure. It gives you room if the college ranks applicants by UTME score, and the same score keeps university or bigger polytechnic options open if you later decide to switch. If you land between 100 and 149, you are still eligible; apply early and make sure your O’level is clean.
JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting exempted some ND applicants from the UTME, but only for what the education minister called non-technology agricultural and agriculture-related courses (JAMB’s own post spoke of education programmes and agriculture non-engineering courses). Banking and Finance is a business and management course, so the exemption does not cover it. Plan to write the UTME.
UTME subject combination for Banking and Finance at FCC Oji River
JAMB’s brochure entry for ND Banking and Finance asks for Use of English plus Mathematics and any two of Economics, Geography, History, Government, Commerce or Principles of Accounts. The remarks under it name other polytechnics but not FCC Oji River. The college’s own remark appears only under Cooperative Economics and Management, so the general rule is the one to follow here.
| UTME subject | Status |
|---|---|
| Use of English | Compulsory for every UTME candidate |
| Mathematics | Compulsory in the brochure entry |
| Economics | Recommended; banking is built on it |
| Commerce or Principles of Accounts | Recommended as the fourth subject |
| Geography, History or Government | Also accepted as one of the two |
I would sit English, Mathematics, Economics and Commerce, or swap Commerce for Principles of Accounts. That set also satisfies polytechnics whose remarks insist on Economics, which helps if you change institution later. Confirm on the JAMB e-brochure at registration.
O’level requirements for Banking and Finance
The brochure asks for five credits including English Language (not Literature in English) and Mathematics, plus three from Economics/Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Geography, Office Practice, Government, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History/Government, Typewriting and Shorthand. Several polytechnics add their own conditions, such as requiring Economics, but none of the remarks names FCC Oji River.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Credits | Five, including English Language and Mathematics |
| Strongly advised | A credit in Economics; many polytechnic remarks require it |
| Other useful subjects | Commerce, Principles of Accounts or Financial Accounting, Government, Geography |
| Sittings | Not stated for FCC; plan for no more than two |
| Not accepted in place of English | Literature in English |
FCC’s own brochure remark (four credits at one sitting, Mathematics pass accepted) is printed under Cooperative Economics and Management, not Banking and Finance. Do not plan around it for this course; ask the admission office if your results are borderline.
HND and Direct Entry
JAMB’s brochure entry for Banking and Finance gives no Direct Entry requirements, and an HND at a polytechnic-type institution is not a JAMB Direct Entry route. HND applicants buy the college’s own form. In its 2021 evening and weekend advert, the college sold both ND and HND forms at ₦5,000 each, at the college and at state and divisional cooperative offices in Enugu and Anambra States. The usual national HND rule is an ND in Banking and Finance at lower credit or better, followed by a year of industrial work experience. FCC Oji River has not published its own HND rule, so ask the admission office whether it accepts a pass-level ND and how long the work experience must be.
Evening and weekend option
The 2021 advert also said something useful for weaker applicants: the evening and weekend ND and HND programmes are equal in all respects to the regular ones, and candidates who lacked the needed credits, missed the UTME cut-off or did not sit the UTME could be admitted, provided they made up the shortfall within the first year. That advert is five years old. Admissions outside CAPS are illegal under JAMB’s current rules (NAN, 11 May 2026), so confirm how any part-time admission is regularised with JAMB before you pay.
FCC Oji River screening for Banking and Finance
The college has not published a post-UTME test, a screening fee or a screening timetable for 2026/2027, and it has no official website that I could find. The 2022/2023 admission report quoted the admission officer, Mr Obinna Ezeano, describing the process as not cumbersome, without listing steps. In practice, expect a document screening at the college: UTME result slip, O’level result, birth certificate or age declaration, local government identification and passport photographs.
Worked example (illustrative)
Amaka scored 148 with English, Mathematics, Economics and Commerce. Her NECO has English C5, Mathematics C6, Economics C4, Commerce B3 and Government C6. She clears the 100 floor but sits just under my 150 safe target, and she meets the five-credit rule. Her best move is an early CAPS upload and a clean screening file.
Many polytechnics rank ND applicants with a 50/50 mix of UTME score and O’level grades. Using that common method only as an illustration, the UTME half is the score divided by 8, and the O’level half adds points for five relevant subjects (A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6, C6 = 5). Amaka’s UTME half is 148 ÷ 8 = 18.5. Her O’level points are 6 + 5 + 7 + 8 + 5 = 31. Her illustrative total is 49.5 out of 100. FCC Oji River has not published any aggregate formula, so treat this as a way to compare yourself with other applicants, not as the college’s method.
How to apply for Banking and Finance at FCC Oji River
- Create your JAMB profile: send NIN followed by a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line you will use. JAMB replies with a profile code for registration.
- Register the UTME with FCC Oji River as a choice: pick Banking and Finance at Federal Cooperative College, Oji River. Check the course and institution names on the JAMB e-brochure at registration, since the college appears under its brochure abbreviation.
- Write the UTME and check your result: you need at least 100, and I would aim for 150. Our guide on checking your JAMB result explains what to do with the score.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to a JAMB accredited centre once your WAEC or NECO result is out. If your O’level is missing on CAPS, the college cannot recommend you.
- Complete the college’s form and screening: buy the form only from the college or through a payment channel it gives you in writing, then attend screening with your documents.
- Accept the offer on CAPS: log in to JAMB CAPS and accept. JAMB’s 2026 rules say an offer not accepted within four weeks is withdrawn. Our JAMB CAPS guide shows each screen.
- Pay the acceptance fee and register: print your JAMB admission letter, pay the acceptance and school fees through the college’s channel, and complete departmental registration.
On timing, JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education, so the 2026/2027 cycle runs until that date. If you want to move FCC Oji River up your list or switch to it from another school, read our guide to JAMB change of institution first; to switch into Banking and Finance from another course, see JAMB change of course.
Warning
Federal Cooperative College, Oji River has no official website that we could find, and pages that look official may belong to agents. Pay only at the college or through a channel the admission office confirms, and never pay anyone who promises a guaranteed place. Every admission must show on JAMB CAPS.
Your chances of admission into Banking and Finance
No intake numbers or applicant figures have been published, so any odds would be guesswork. My view is that a score of 150 or more, credits in Mathematics and Economics, and an early CAPS upload make you a strong applicant. If your score is between 100 and 149, you are eligible; keep a second choice in mind and check CAPS often.
The college’s fees were low the last time they were reported. In the 2022/2023 report the admission officer put tuition plus hostel at below ₦45,000 a session, called it about the lowest in Nigeria, and said students had not lost time to strikes. Those are the officer’s statements, not a published fee schedule, and they are four years old. Ask for the current fee list before you accept. The college was still taking ND 1 students recently: in June 2025 Oji River Local Government announced a scholarship for indigenes admitted into the college, covering registration, ND 1 school fees and hostel.
What you study in Banking and Finance
The college has not published its Banking and Finance course list, and I did not open NBTE’s current ND curriculum for it. The areas below are what Nigerian ND Banking and Finance programmes usually cover; use them as a guide and ask the department for the semester list.
- Principles of economics, money and banking, and business mathematics
- Principles of accounts, financial accounting and business finance
- Elements of banking, bank operations and credit administration
- Business law and the law of banking
- Business statistics, ICT and research methods
- Entrepreneurship, a project and SIWES in a bank, microfinance bank or finance office
NBTE’s ND Accountancy curriculum includes two semesters of Elements of Banking, which shows how closely Accountancy and Banking and Finance overlap in the first year.
Duration
The college has not published programme lengths. Under NBTE’s national pattern, an ND runs four semesters over two years, with three to four months of SIWES (industrial attachment), and an HND takes another two years after the ND and the work experience year.
Accreditation
NBTE’s January 2026 brochure of approved curricula lists both ND and HND Banking and Finance, so the programme exists nationally. Whether FCC Oji River’s Banking and Finance programme currently holds full NBTE accreditation is not confirmed. NBTE’s directories, including the 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes, list the college among specialised institutions offering accredited programmes, but the programme-level tables could not be read. The admission officer said in 2022/2023 that graduates went on to NYSC, which applies to HND holders. Ask to see the NBTE accreditation letter for Banking and Finance before you pay fees. Banking and Finance teaching is also changing nationally. In April 2023 the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) said it had signed an agreement with NBTE to improve banking and finance teaching in polytechnics, had sponsored a review of the ND and HND curriculum that replaced one used for 19 years, and would join NBTE’s accreditation teams (Gazette, 2 April 2023).

Mistakes Banking and Finance applicants make
- Dropping Economics: it is not compulsory in the general rule, but many polytechnics require it, and it carries the course.
- Planning with the Cooperative waiver: FCC’s brochure remark is printed only under Cooperative Economics and Management.
- Waiting for a cut-off list: FCC has not published one; aim for 150.
- Missing the CAPS acceptance window: four weeks under JAMB’s 2026 rules.
- Paying middlemen: pay only through the college’s confirmed channel.
If you are still planning your UTME, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts so you have your NIN and documents ready early.
FCC Oji River Banking and Finance cut-off mark: FAQs
What is the cut-off mark for Banking and Finance at FCC Oji River? There is no published departmental cut-off. JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics, 100 for 2026/2027, applies, and 150 or more is my safe target.
Do I need a credit in Mathematics for Banking and Finance at FCC Oji River? Yes, plan for it. JAMB’s brochure asks for credits in English Language and Mathematics, and the FCC waiver that accepts a Mathematics pass is listed only under Cooperative Economics and Management.
Does FCC Oji River run a weekend Banking and Finance programme? The college advertised evening and weekend ND and HND programmes in 2021, described as equal to the regular ones, with forms at ₦5,000 then. Ask the admission office whether it is running for 2027/2028.
Does the 2026 UTME exemption cover ND Banking and Finance? No. The 2026 ND exemption was for non-technology agricultural and agriculture-related courses, so Banking and Finance applicants still write the UTME.
