To use it, log in to the JAMB e-Facility with your registration email and password, open Check Admission Status, and act on whatever it shows. If it says Congratulations, you accept the offer there and then, because an unaccepted offer can be withdrawn. Getting your JAMB score is step one. CAPS is where the admission itself is processed, confirmed and accepted, and it is where candidates who did everything else right still lose their place, usually because nobody told them to check it or told them how. What JAMB CAPS is, and why it is not optional
CAPS stands for Central Admission Processing System. It is the single platform JAMB uses to coordinate admissions across every university, polytechnic and college of education in Nigeria.
The rule that matters is absolute: every legitimate admission offer in the country must pass through CAPS. JAMB has said this repeatedly, and it means exactly what it says. A letter from a department, a phone call from someone claiming to be in the admissions office, your name chalked on a notice board, a WhatsApp message of congratulations, none of it is an admission. Until the offer appears on your CAPS dashboard and you accept it there, it does not officially exist, and any offer that never reaches CAPS is one JAMB will not recognise.
Read that as a fraud shield as much as a procedure. Every year, candidates pay “acceptance fees” and resume at schools on the strength of an offer that was never on CAPS, and every year some of them discover months in that they were never really admitted. The portal is the one source of truth. If it is not on CAPS, it is not real.
How to log in to JAMB CAPS 2026/2027
CAPS lives inside the JAMB e-Facility platform, so logging into e-Facility is logging into CAPS.
- Go to the JAMB e-Facility login page at efacility.jamb.gov.ng
- Enter the email address you used during your JAMB registration
- Enter your JAMB password and click Login
- Your e-Facility dashboard opens, with CAPS and your other JAMB services on it
The password is the one snag worth naming. The password CAPS wants is the one you created during JAMB registration, not your Gmail or email-account password, even though you log in with an email address. Candidates confuse the two constantly and then think they are locked out. If you genuinely cannot remember the JAMB password, use the reset option on the login page rather than trying your email password again and again.
Once you are in, the dashboard is the hub for everything: your CAPS admission status, your O’Level result verification, result checking and the rest.
How to check your admission status on CAPS, step by step
This is the part most people came for.
- Log in to e-Facility as above
- On the dashboard, scroll down and find Check Admission Status
- Select your examination year and choose 2026/2027
- Enter your JAMB registration number in the field provided
- Click Access My CAPS
- In the sidebar or menu that appears, click Admission Status
- Your current status displays on that page
On a laptop that sequence just works. On a phone, step 6 is where it silently breaks, which is why the mobile fix below matters more than it sounds.
The mobile trap that costs people their admission
When you open CAPS on a phone in Chrome, the page usually loads in mobile view, and in mobile view the sidebar that holds your admission status is hidden. What you see is a bare Welcome page with no options, so you conclude nothing is happening with your admission and close the tab. Meanwhile your offer may be sitting one hidden menu away, ticking down toward withdrawal. This one quirk costs candidates their admission every year, and it is entirely avoidable once you know about it.
The fix takes five seconds: switch the browser to desktop mode.
On Chrome for Android:
- Tap the three dots in the top-right corner of the browser
- Scroll down and tap Desktop Site, or Request Desktop Site
- The page reloads in full desktop layout
- The sidebar now appears, and you can open Admission Status
On Safari for iPhone, tap the “aA” icon in the address bar and choose Request Desktop Website, which does the same thing.
Do this every single time you open CAPS on a phone, not just once. Mobile view will keep hiding the menu, and the accept button lives behind the same hidden sidebar, so you cannot accept an offer from mobile view either. If you take one instruction from this entire guide, take this one.
Every CAPS admission status, and what to do about each
Your dashboard will show one of a handful of statuses. The table sets out what each means and the mistake candidates make at each stage, and the notes below add the detail.

Not Admitted
The word frightens people, and it should not. Not Admitted is the default status for most candidates through much of the season. It means the queue has simply not reached you yet. It only becomes a real problem if it never changes, and the FAQ below covers what to do in that case.
Admission in Progress
This means the school has looked at your profile and likes what it sees. It is not a guarantee, but it is the strongest positive signal before the offer itself. There is nothing to accept at this stage, so the only job is to keep checking, because the next change could be your offer.
Congratulations
The offer, and the point where relaxing can undo everything. An offer on CAPS does not sit there indefinitely: you have to log in and accept it, and some schools withdraw unaccepted offers within days to give the slot to the next candidate. Log in, switch to desktop mode if you are on a phone, and accept the moment you see this status. Celebrate afterwards.
Transfer Approval
The school is offering you a place, but in a different course from the one you chose. Nothing happens, and your name does not reach the admission list, until you log in and accept the transfer. Read the alternative course properly before you accept, because accepting is a real decision about the next four or more years, but do not simply ignore it, because ignoring it freezes your admission in place.
The O’Level upload that blocks everything
One thing will keep your name off the CAPS admission list no matter how high your score: an O’Level result that is not uploaded to your JAMB profile.
JAMB requires your WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or GCE results to be uploaded and verified before any institution can recommend you for admission. Without it, the school literally cannot complete your admission on CAPS, and you can sit at Not Admitted for weeks wondering why, when the real answer is a missing document.
The catch is that you cannot do this upload yourself from home. It is done at an accredited JAMB CBT centre, by the centre, using your original result.
To check whether your results are already on your profile:
- Log in to e-Facility
- Find the My O’Level option on the menu
- Open it to see whether your results were scanned and uploaded successfully
If nothing is there, go to the nearest accredited CBT centre with your original O’Level certificate and have it uploaded, and do it now rather than later. Schools will not process your admission without it, and CAPS will not move you past Not Admitted until it is done. This is the most common invisible blocker on the whole platform, and it is one visit to fix.
What happens after you accept
Accepting on CAPS is the JAMB side of admission, not the whole of it. Once you accept, your name proceeds toward the official JAMB admission list, but your institution will then have its own steps: paying the acceptance fee through the school’s own channel, completing school registration, uploading documents, and so on.
Two cautions here. Pay acceptance and school fees only through your institution’s official channels, and only after your admission actually shows on CAPS, never on the strength of an offer that has not appeared there. And keep checking CAPS even after accepting, because it remains the record of your official status while the school-side process runs.

Can I accept admission on JAMB CAPS with my phone?

What is the JAMB Marketplace?
A feature inside CAPS that lets institutions with unfilled slots offer admission to candidates who were not initially admitted or who rejected a first offer. If your status stays at Not Admitted for a long time, the Marketplace can become your route to an offer from a different school.
My CAPS status has said Not Admitted for weeks. What should I do?
Check three things in order. First, confirm your O’Level results are uploaded and verified on your profile, since a missing upload blocks everything. Second, confirm your JAMB score meets the 2026/2027 cut-off for your course and institution. If both are fine and no offer comes, consider change of institution or change of course, or watch the Marketplace for offers.
Can my school admit me without CAPS?
No. Any admission not processed through CAPS is not recognised by JAMB. Do not pay school fees or resume for a programme on the basis of an offer that does not show on your CAPS dashboard, however official it looks.
