The Amadeus University Forensic Science cut-off mark for 2027/2028 is 150, the minimum UTME score JAMB set for all Nigerian universities. Amadeus has not published a separate departmental cut-off for Forensic Science, so 150 is the official floor, and the university says it also looks at faculty requirements and your wider profile before it offers a place.
2027/2028 update: Amadeus University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Forensic Science is one of eight B.Sc. programmes in the Faculty of Science and Computing at Amadeus, and it is on the university’s current programme list. The course name candidates should register on JAMB is Forensic Science, the same name a JAMB-style course directory shows for Amadeus. I could not open JAMB’s own course list for Amadeus, so check that Forensic Science appears under Amadeus when you register, before you pay for anything.

Cut-off history for Forensic Science at Amadeus
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB national minimum UTME score for universities | Official (JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| 2026/2027 | None published | An Amadeus figure for Forensic Science | Not on the list of institution cut-offs declared at the 2026 policy meeting; none on Amadeus’s admission page |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | JAMB national minimum UTME score for universities | Official (JAMB policy meeting, July 2025) |
| 2025/2026 | 200 and 180 | Amadeus minimums for MBBS and Pharm.D, given for comparison | Stated by the Vice-Chancellor (The Sun, 20 November 2025) |
| 2025/2026 | None published | An Amadeus figure for Forensic Science | Nothing found |
Amadeus did not declare its own cut-offs at JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting, and the only course-level minimums it has made public are for Medicine and Surgery and Pharmacy. Some aggregator sites quote 140 as Amadeus’s “general” cut-off. That figure has no official source and sits below JAMB’s 150 floor for universities, so ignore it.
Safe target score for Forensic Science at Amadeus (my advice)
The table below is my own judgement as an admissions adviser, not an Amadeus rule. It reflects how young private universities in the South-East usually fill science places.
| Your UTME score | My read for Forensic Science at Amadeus |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for any Nigerian university this cycle. |
| 150 to 164 | Eligible. Possible if your subjects, O’level and documents are complete, but keep a backup. |
| 165 to 179 | A fair position for a new private university with space to fill. |
| 180 and above | Comfortable. This is the range I would aim for. |
Forensic Science is a newer, attractive-sounding course, and interest in it often outruns the number of laboratory places a young department can offer. For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 180, with Chemistry and Biology as your strongest papers, because those two carry most of the degree.
JAMB subject combination and O’level for Amadeus Forensic Science
| Requirement | JAMB brochure (Myschool reprint) | Amadeus admission page |
|---|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics (plus Use of English) | National minimum plus any faculty requirement |
| O’level | Five credits in English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology | Five credits including English and Mathematics plus three other relevant subjects (WASSCE, NECO or GCE) |
| Sittings | Not stated on the brochure line | One or two sittings (university’s 2025/2026 advert) |
| Direct Entry | Two A-level passes from Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology; or NCE, ND or HND in a related field plus UTME requirements | Not described |
| Remark naming Amadeus | None (the only remark is for FUTO) | Not applicable |
My pick for the fourth UTME subject is Physics. JAMB accepts Mathematics too, but you need a Physics credit at O’level anyway, instrument work in forensic labs leans on physics, and a strong Physics paper is easier to defend than a weak Mathematics one. If Mathematics is your best science, it is a valid choice.
The O’level line is stricter than many candidates expect. JAMB’s base rule wants all five sciences plus English: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. A credit in Agricultural Science does not replace Biology here, and a pass in Physics is not enough. Amadeus’s own wording is looser (five credits including English and Mathematics plus three relevant subjects), but plan to meet JAMB’s line, since CAPS checks your O’level against the brochure.
Direct Entry into Forensic Science at Amadeus
JAMB allows two A-level passes from Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology, or an NCE, ND or HND in a related field. In practice, IJMB or JUPEB science results, or an ND in Science Laboratory Technology, are the usual routes. Amadeus’s admission page does not describe Direct Entry at all, so write to admissions@amadeus.edu.ng and get a reply on whether your result is accepted and at what level before you register for Direct Entry on JAMB.
How Amadeus screens Forensic Science applicants
Amadeus has not published a written post-UTME test. Its admission page describes a holistic review: your academic record comes first, but the university says it also weighs character, extracurricular activity and social involvement, and it gives some room to students from underserved communities. A 2024 admission write-up said applicants are interviewed, and a third-party guide describes an online document review with a ₦2,000 application fee. Neither of those details is on the university’s own page, so treat the fee and format as unconfirmed until you see them on the portal.
Worked example (illustrative)
Amadeus has not published an aggregate formula, so this example only applies the checks above. Two candidates want Forensic Science:
- Chiamaka: scored 176 with Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. She has credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics from one WAEC sitting and registered Amadeus for Forensic Science.
- Her checks: 176 clears the 150 floor, her subjects match JAMB’s line and her O’level meets both JAMB and Amadeus. She applies on the portal for the same course that is on CAPS and uploads everything. She is in a good position.
- Tobenna: scored 190 with Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, but his O’level has a D7 in Physics and a credit in Agricultural Science.
- His checks: his score is higher, but JAMB’s Forensic Science line needs a Physics credit. Unless he fixes it with a NECO or GCE sitting (two sittings are allowed), CAPS can flag his O’level. Microbiology has the same Physics credit rule, so he should resit Physics rather than switch courses.
I see Tobenna’s case every year: science candidates with strong scores who lose a place over one O’level grade.
How Forensic Science compares with related Amadeus science degrees
| Amadeus programme | UTME subjects (JAMB brochure) | Best fit if you like |
|---|---|---|
| Forensic Science | Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics | Crime scene evidence, toxicology, DNA and lab analysis for the courts |
| Microbiology | Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics | Bacteria, viruses, food and water safety, industry labs |
| Biotechnology | Confirm on the JAMB e-brochure | Genetics, fermentation, bioprocessing |
| Cyber Security | Mathematics, Physics and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography | Digital forensics, networks, security operations |
All four rely on JAMB’s 150 floor at Amadeus. If digital evidence interests you more than blood and fibres, look at Cyber Security, which covers digital forensics; if you want a lab career with more employers, Microbiology is the safer general science.
How to apply for Forensic Science at Amadeus, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME with Amadeus and the right course: pick Amadeus University, Amizi as your institution and Forensic Science as the course, with the UTME subjects in the table above. If you already sat the UTME with another school, do a change of institution to Amadeus on JAMB; the university’s own admission page asks every applicant to choose Amadeus through the JAMB portal.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to a JAMB-accredited centre once your WAEC, NECO or GCE result is out. Amadeus asks for five credits including English Language and Mathematics, and accepts results from one or two sittings.
- Apply on the Amadeus portal: create an account at admissions.amadeus.edu.ng, choose Forensic Science, fill the form and upload your documents. The same course must sit on your CAPS profile, or an offer cannot be processed.
- Watch for screening or interview contact: Amadeus has not published a written post-UTME test. Keep your phone and email active, because any interview invitation or request for documents comes through them.
- Accept on CAPS: when an offer appears, log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gave 2026 candidates four weeks to accept or reject an offer.
- Pay acceptance and register: third-party fee guides put the Amadeus acceptance fee at ₦200,000. Pay only through the channel on your admission letter or the portal, then print your JAMB admission letter for clearance.
For the 2026/2027 cycle, JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the admission deadline for private universities, so Amadeus’s 2026/2027 admissions run until that date at the latest. Amadeus’s home page said admissions were open when I checked on 29 October 2026, but it did not give its own closing date. For 2027/2028, plan around the same pattern: sit the 2027 UTME, keep Amadeus on your JAMB profile and apply on the portal once it reopens.
Before you pay anyone
Free-advert forums carry posts claiming Amadeus “admission lists” and “post-UTME forms” with private phone numbers that do not appear on the university’s website. Apply only at admissions.amadeus.edu.ng and use the contacts on amadeus.edu.ng. JAMB has said any admission done outside CAPS is illegal, so a real offer will always show on your CAPS page.
Official contacts on the Amadeus website: phone +234 708 063 1863, toll-free 0800 123 5100, WhatsApp +234 908 796 6353 and admissions@amadeus.edu.ng. When your CAPS status changes, our JAMB CAPS guide explains what each status means and how to accept.
Amadeus University Forensic Science school fees
| Fee item | Amount (per session unless stated) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition (Forensic Science) | ₦1,040,000 | As reported by Campusfees for 2026/2027 |
| Acceptance fee | ₦200,000 | First year only, non-refundable |
| Medical insurance | ₦85,000 | Yearly |
| Library and ICT | ₦120,000 | Yearly |
| Laboratory and workshops | ₦50,000 | Yearly |
| Accommodation, two-person room | ₦900,000 | Per bed space |
| Accommodation, four-person room | ₦550,000 | Limited spaces |
| First-year total, two-person room | ₦2,395,000 | Tuition plus all items above except the four-person room |
| First-year total, four-person room | ₦2,045,000 | Tuition plus charges plus the cheaper room |
I could not open the fee page on the Amadeus website, so these figures come from Campusfees (17 September 2026), a third-party fee guide. The acceptance fee, medical insurance, library and ICT, laboratory and accommodation lines match the 2024/2025 schedule that Myschool News published in June 2024, which gives me some confidence in them. Treat the tuition line as a guide, check the official Tuition and Fees page on amadeus.edu.ng before you pay, and remember that feeding, books and transport are extra.
Studying Forensic Science at Amadeus University
Amadeus University is a private university at Amizi in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, not far from Umuahia. NUC licensed it in June 2023, teaching began in September 2024, the inaugural matriculation was held in February 2025, and its founder is Dr Godwin Nwabunka. Its Vice-Chancellor is Prof. Samuel Nzotta. The admission page now lists 22 programmes across the Faculties of Science and Computing, Allied Health Sciences, Social and Management Sciences, Engineering, Pharmacy and Law and a College of Medicine.
What you study
- Early years: general biology, general and organic chemistry, physics, mathematics and introductory forensic science, plus general studies courses.
- Middle years: analytical and instrumental chemistry, forensic biology and serology, toxicology, criminalistics (fingerprints, trace evidence, fibres) and crime scene investigation.
- Final years: forensic DNA analysis, document examination, firearms and ballistics basics, law and expert testimony, quality assurance in labs, and a research project.
- Practical skills: evidence collection and chain of custody, microscopy, chromatography and writing reports that can stand up in court.
That outline follows the usual Nigerian B.Sc. Forensic Science pattern. Amadeus has not published its own course list, so check the departmental handbook when you resume.
Duration and accreditation
A B.Sc. in Forensic Science normally takes four years for UTME entrants in Nigeria; Direct Entry students usually start at 200 level. Amadeus’s admission page does not state the duration.
I found no NUC accreditation result for Forensic Science at Amadeus. The university has no entry at all in NUC’s accreditation results for 1990 to 2025, published in September 2026, and no NUC programme report names Amadeus for this course. That is expected for a university that began teaching in September 2024: NUC normally visits a new programme before its first set graduates. So the status is not yet accredited by NUC (not confirmed). The course runs under the university’s NUC licence, and NUC granted Amadeus a full operational licence in September 2026, according to the university’s news page. A full licence is about the university as a whole and is not the same as programme accreditation. Forensic science has no separate professional council that licenses graduates in Nigeria, so NUC accreditation is the status that matters most.
Careers after the degree
- Forensic laboratories of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies
- Toxicology and drug testing laboratories, including drug law enforcement
- Hospital, pharmaceutical and food quality-control laboratories

Mistakes that cost Forensic Science applicants a place
- No Physics credit: JAMB’s O’level line lists Physics among the five credits.
- Agric in place of Biology: the Forensic Science line has no waiver for it.
- Trusting a “140” cut-off: JAMB’s minimum for universities is 150.
- CAPS and portal not matching: the course on CAPS must be the course you apply for on the portal.
- Leaving Amadeus off your JAMB profile: the university asks applicants to choose it on JAMB.
- Paying an agent: the form is on admissions.amadeus.edu.ng.

Amadeus Forensic Science cut-off mark: frequently asked questions
What is the cut-off mark for Forensic Science at Amadeus University? 150, the JAMB minimum for universities. Amadeus has not published a higher departmental figure, but I advise aiming for 180 or more.
What JAMB subjects do I need for Forensic Science at Amadeus? Use of English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics. Physics is the better fourth subject because you also need a Physics credit at O’level.
Can I combine two sittings of WAEC and NECO for Forensic Science at Amadeus? Yes. Amadeus accepts O’level results from one or two sittings, as long as the five required credits, including English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, are covered.
Is Forensic Science at Amadeus accredited by NUC? Not yet, as far as published NUC records show. The programme is new, and NUC usually accredits a course before its first students graduate, so ask the university for an update before you accept.
Sources and updates
The admission rules, programme list and contacts come from Amadeus University’s admission overview page home page and history page (teaching began September 2024); the full operational licence and law approval news from its news page. JAMB’s Forensic Science requirements were checked on Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure for Forensic Science; no remark there names Amadeus. The 150 minimum for 2026/2027, the 30 November 2026 deadline for private universities, the four-week CAPS acceptance window and the warning about admissions outside CAPS come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026); the 2025/2026 minimum of 150 from Channels TV (8 July 2025). The MBBS and Pharm.D minimums come from The Sun (20 November 2025), and the June 2023 licence from ThisDay. Course names in JAMB’s style come from UniversityCourses.ng (updated February 2026), because JAMB’s own Amadeus list could not be opened. Fees come from Campusfees (17 September 2026) and Myschool News (June 2024). Accreditation was checked in NUC’s 1990 to 2025 results publication. Checked on 29 October 2026. I will update this page when Amadeus publishes its 2027/2028 admission notice.
