The Amadeus University Microbiology cut-off mark for 2027/2028 is 150, JAMB’s minimum UTME score for universities. Amadeus has not published a separate departmental figure for Microbiology, so 150 is the official floor, with the university also checking faculty requirements and your overall profile before it makes an offer.
2027/2028 update: Amadeus University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Microbiology sits in the Faculty of Science and Computing at Amadeus and is on the university’s current list of 22 programmes as B.Sc. Microbiology. Register it on JAMB as Microbiology; a JAMB-style directory of Amadeus courses uses the same name. JAMB’s own course list for Amadeus could not be opened while I was checking, so confirm that Microbiology shows under Amadeus on the JAMB portal when you register.

Cut-off history for Microbiology at Amadeus
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB national minimum UTME score for universities | Official (JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| 2026/2027 | None published | An Amadeus figure for Microbiology | Not on the list of institution cut-offs declared at the 2026 policy meeting; none on Amadeus’s admission page |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | JAMB national minimum UTME score for universities | Official (JAMB policy meeting, July 2025) |
| 2025/2026 | 200 and 180 | Amadeus minimums for MBBS and Pharm.D, given for comparison | Stated by the Vice-Chancellor (The Sun, 20 November 2025) |
| 2025/2026 | None published | An Amadeus figure for Microbiology | Nothing found |
Amadeus did not declare its own cut-offs at JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting. Its only public course minimums are 200 for Medicine and Surgery and 180 for Pharmacy (2025/2026). A few aggregator sites say the general Amadeus cut-off is 140; no official source backs that, and it is below JAMB’s 150, so do not plan with it.
Safe target score for Microbiology at Amadeus (my advice)
This is my advice as an admissions consultant, not an Amadeus rule.
| Your UTME score | My read for Microbiology at Amadeus |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for any Nigerian university this cycle. |
| 150 to 164 | Eligible. Realistic if your O’level has all five science credits and your documents are complete. |
| 165 to 179 | A good position at a new private university. |
| 180 and above | Comfortable, and the range I would aim for. |
Microbiology tends to collect candidates who missed Medicine, Nursing or Medical Laboratory Science elsewhere, so scores in this course can climb faster than you expect. For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 175, with Biology and Chemistry as your best papers.
JAMB subject combination and O’level for Amadeus Microbiology
| Requirement | JAMB brochure (Myschool reprint) | Amadeus admission page |
|---|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Biology, Chemistry, and either Physics or Mathematics (plus Use of English) | National minimum plus any faculty requirement |
| O’level | Five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics | Five credits including English and Mathematics plus three other relevant subjects (WASSCE, NECO or GCE) |
| Sittings | Not stated on the base line | One or two sittings (university’s 2025/2026 advert) |
| Direct Entry | Two A-level passes in Chemistry and one of Biology, Zoology or Botany | Not described |
| Remark naming Amadeus | None | Not applicable |
Either Physics or Mathematics works as the fourth UTME subject. I lean towards Physics for most candidates, because the O’level line already needs a Physics credit and you will meet physics again in instrumentation and biophysics. If your Mathematics is much stronger, pick it; JAMB treats both the same.
Watch the O’level carefully. JAMB’s base line wants English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics, all at credit. Some universities have brochure waivers that accept Agricultural Science for Biology or a pass in Physics, but none of those remarks names Amadeus, so assume the full five-science rule applies. Amadeus’s own page is broader (English, Mathematics and three relevant subjects), but CAPS checks your result against JAMB’s line.
Direct Entry into Microbiology at Amadeus
JAMB’s Direct Entry line asks for two A-level passes: Chemistry plus one of Biology, Zoology or Botany. IJMB and JUPEB are the usual routes. Many universities also take ND or HND holders in Science Laboratory Technology under their own remarks, but Amadeus has no remark on the brochure page and its admission page is silent on Direct Entry. Email admissions@amadeus.edu.ng and get a written answer before you register for Direct Entry.
How Amadeus screens Microbiology applicants
There is no published post-UTME test. Amadeus describes a holistic review: academic results first, then character, extracurricular activity and social involvement, with some consideration for students from underserved communities. A 2024 admission write-up mentions an interview, and a third-party guide describes an online document check with a ₦2,000 fee. Neither appears on the official page, so confirm the format and fee on the portal itself.
Worked example (illustrative)
Amadeus has no published aggregate formula. This example only runs the eligibility checks:
- Ifeoma: 168 in the UTME with Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics; WAEC credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics; Amadeus and Microbiology on her JAMB profile.
- Her checks: 168 clears 150, Mathematics is an allowed fourth subject and her five credits match JAMB’s line. She applies for Microbiology on the portal, the same course on CAPS, and uploads everything. She meets every published condition.
- Emeka: 201 with Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, registered for Medicine and Surgery at another university, and now wants Microbiology at Amadeus.
- His checks: his subjects fit Microbiology, so he needs a JAMB change of institution to Amadeus and a change of course to Microbiology before applying on the portal. Note that at 201 he also clears the 200 that Amadeus asked for in Medicine for 2025/2026, so he may want to ask whether MBBS spaces remain before settling.
Microbiology or a related Amadeus course?
| Amadeus programme | What it leads to | Point to note |
|---|---|---|
| Microbiology | Industrial, food, environmental and research microbiology | No professional licence needed for most industry jobs |
| Medical Laboratory Science | Licensed medical laboratory scientist in hospitals | Needs MLSCN recognition of the programme; Microbiology graduates cannot practise as medical lab scientists |
| Biotechnology | Genetic and bioprocess work | Overlaps heavily with Microbiology in the early years |
| Forensic Science | Crime and toxicology laboratories | Same JAMB subjects as Microbiology |
If your real goal is hospital laboratory work, Medical Laboratory Science is the course that leads to a licence. Microbiology suits you if you want industry, food and water safety, research or a later master’s degree.
How to apply for Microbiology at Amadeus, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME with Amadeus and the right course: pick Amadeus University, Amizi as your institution and Microbiology as the course, with the UTME subjects in the table above. If you already sat the UTME with another school, do a change of institution to Amadeus on JAMB; the university’s own admission page asks every applicant to choose Amadeus through the JAMB portal.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to a JAMB-accredited centre once your WAEC, NECO or GCE result is out. Amadeus asks for five credits including English Language and Mathematics, and accepts results from one or two sittings.
- Apply on the Amadeus portal: create an account at admissions.amadeus.edu.ng, choose Microbiology, fill the form and upload your documents. The same course must sit on your CAPS profile, or an offer cannot be processed.
- Watch for screening or interview contact: Amadeus has not published a written post-UTME test. Keep your phone and email active, because any interview invitation or request for documents comes through them.
- Accept on CAPS: when an offer appears, log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gave 2026 candidates four weeks to accept or reject an offer.
- Pay acceptance and register: third-party fee guides put the Amadeus acceptance fee at ₦200,000. Pay only through the channel on your admission letter or the portal, then print your JAMB admission letter for clearance.
For the 2026/2027 cycle, JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the admission deadline for private universities, so Amadeus’s 2026/2027 admissions run until that date at the latest. Amadeus’s home page said admissions were open when I checked on 29 October 2026, but it did not give its own closing date. For 2027/2028, plan around the same pattern: sit the 2027 UTME, keep Amadeus on your JAMB profile and apply on the portal once it reopens.
Before you pay anyone
Free-advert forums carry posts claiming Amadeus “admission lists” and “post-UTME forms” with private phone numbers that do not appear on the university’s website. Apply only at admissions.amadeus.edu.ng and use the contacts on amadeus.edu.ng. JAMB has said any admission done outside CAPS is illegal, so a real offer will always show on your CAPS page.
Official contacts on the Amadeus website: phone +234 708 063 1863, toll-free 0800 123 5100, WhatsApp +234 908 796 6353 and admissions@amadeus.edu.ng. When your CAPS status changes, our JAMB CAPS guide explains what each status means and how to accept.
Amadeus University Microbiology school fees
| Fee item | Amount (per session unless stated) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition (Microbiology) | ₦1,450,000 | As reported by Campusfees for 2026/2027 |
| Acceptance fee | ₦200,000 | First year only, non-refundable |
| Medical insurance | ₦85,000 | Yearly |
| Library and ICT | ₦120,000 | Yearly |
| Laboratory and workshops | ₦50,000 | Yearly |
| Accommodation, two-person room | ₦900,000 | Per bed space |
| Accommodation, four-person room | ₦550,000 | Limited spaces |
| First-year total, two-person room | ₦2,805,000 | Tuition plus all items above except the four-person room |
| First-year total, four-person room | ₦2,455,000 | Tuition plus charges plus the cheaper room |
I could not open the fee page on the Amadeus website, so these figures come from Campusfees (17 September 2026), a third-party fee guide. The acceptance fee, medical insurance, library and ICT, laboratory and accommodation lines match the 2024/2025 schedule that Myschool News published in June 2024, which gives me some confidence in them. Treat the tuition line as a guide, check the official Tuition and Fees page on amadeus.edu.ng before you pay, and remember that feeding, books and transport are extra.
Studying Microbiology at Amadeus University
Amadeus University is a private university at Amizi in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, not far from Umuahia. NUC licensed it in June 2023, teaching began in September 2024, the inaugural matriculation was held in February 2025, and its founder is Dr Godwin Nwabunka. Its Vice-Chancellor is Prof. Samuel Nzotta. The admission page now lists 22 programmes across the Faculties of Science and Computing, Allied Health Sciences, Social and Management Sciences, Engineering, Pharmacy and Law and a College of Medicine.
What you study
- Early years: general biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics, introductory microbiology and general studies courses.
- Middle years: bacteriology, virology, mycology, microbial physiology and genetics, immunology and laboratory techniques such as culture, staining and sterilisation.
- Final years: food, industrial, environmental and medical microbiology, biostatistics, an industrial attachment and a research project.
- Practical skills: aseptic technique, microscopy, culture media preparation and quality-control testing.
That is the usual structure of a Nigerian B.Sc. Microbiology. Amadeus has not published its own course outline, so check the departmental handbook when you resume.
Duration and accreditation
UTME entrants normally spend four years on a B.Sc. Microbiology, and Direct Entry students begin at 200 level. Amadeus’s admission page does not state the duration.
I found no NUC accreditation result for Microbiology at Amadeus. The university has no entry at all in NUC’s accreditation results for 1990 to 2025, published in September 2026, and no NUC programme report names Amadeus for this course. That is expected for a university that began teaching in September 2024: NUC normally visits a new programme before its first set graduates. So the status is not yet accredited by NUC (not confirmed). The course runs under the university’s NUC licence, and NUC granted Amadeus a full operational licence in September 2026, according to the university’s news page. A full licence is about the university as a whole and is not the same as programme accreditation.

Mistakes that cost Microbiology applicants a place
- Missing a Physics credit: JAMB’s base O’level line includes it.
- Agric in place of Biology: no waiver on the brochure names Amadeus.
- Planning with a “140” cut-off from a blog: 150 is the legal minimum.
- Different courses on CAPS and the portal: the two must match.
- Not making Amadeus your JAMB institution: the university asks you to choose it on JAMB.
- Buying forms from agents: apply on admissions.amadeus.edu.ng only.
Preparing for the 2027 UTME? Start with when JAMB 2027 registration starts, then work through our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus, and once results are out, read how to check your JAMB result. If you registered a different school or course, our guides to JAMB change of institution and JAMB change of course explain the fix.
Amadeus Microbiology cut-off mark: frequently asked questions
What is the JAMB cut-off mark for Microbiology at Amadeus University? 150, the national minimum for universities. Amadeus has not published a higher figure for Microbiology; I advise aiming for 175 or more.
Can I study Microbiology at Amadeus with Mathematics instead of Physics in JAMB? Yes. JAMB’s line is Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics, plus Use of English. You still need a Physics credit at O’level.
Does Amadeus University write post-UTME for Microbiology? Amadeus has not announced a written post-UTME test. It reviews applications on the portal and may invite you for an interview, so keep your phone and email active.
Can a Microbiology graduate from Amadeus work as a medical laboratory scientist? No. That job needs a Medical Laboratory Science degree and an MLSCN licence. Microbiology graduates work in industry, research, food safety and environmental labs.
