Gregory University Cut-Off Mark for Computer Engineering 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

Gregory University has no separate Computer Engineering cut-off; it used 140 for all courses, and JAMB’s 2026 university minimum is 150. See the safe target, JAMB subjects, O’level, Direct Entry, accreditation status and screening steps.

There is no published Gregory University cut-off mark for Computer Engineering. Gregory University, Uturu (GUU) sets one minimum UTME score for all its courses: 140 in 2024/2025 (the university’s own notice) and again in 2025/2026. For 2026 admissions, though, JAMB raised the minimum for every Nigerian university to 150, so 150 is the lowest score you should plan with. I would aim for 200 or more for Computer Engineering.

2027/2028 update: Gregory University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official figures: Gregory’s 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 notices and JAMB’s 2026 university minimum, since no Gregory 2026/2027 notice with a score was available. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

One more thing before you pick this course: I could not confirm the NUC accreditation status of Computer Engineering at Gregory University. NUC’s published accreditation results list could not be read as far as Gregory’s entries, and NUC’s online report pages show Gregory’s Business Administration and English programmes with full accreditation (visits in November 2024) but nothing for engineering. I found no COREN report either. Gregory’s College of Engineering lists Computer Engineering among its six departments, so the course runs; ask the university in writing about its NUC and COREN status before you pay acceptance.

ABSU’s Computer Engineering is listed with full NUC accreditation, maturity 2028, in NUC’s 1990 to 2025 results (see our ABSU Computer Engineering guide), though it uses the same Further Mathematics line. If Further Mathematics is your problem, MOUAU has a brochure remark that applies its Civil Engineering O’level rules to Computer Engineering, so it does not ask for Further Mathematics (see our MOUAU Computer Engineering guide).

Gregory has never published a separate Computer Engineering figure, so any site quoting one is guessing. Also, Gregory’s 140 cannot simply carry over into the 2026 cycle, because universities cannot admit below JAMB’s 150. If you scored between 140 and 149 in 2026, you are below the national line for universities this cycle.

Safe target score for Computer Engineering at Gregory University (my advice)

Gregory is a private university, and private universities tend to admit closer to the minimum than federal and state ones. Engineering still fills faster than many other courses, and your O’level grades count alongside your UTME score. This table is my judgement from how engineering admission works at universities in the South East. Gregory has published nothing like it.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Gregory Computer Engineering
Below 150Below JAMB’s 2026 university minimum; not eligible
150 to 179Eligible, but Computer Engineering draws many applicants; keep a backup course
180 to 199Fair chance with strong Mathematics and Physics grades
200 to 219Good
220 and aboveStrong

I would aim for 200 or more. If you have no Further Mathematics credit or your score is close to 150, compare Gregory’s Computer Science and Electrical and Electronic Engineering entries before you register. A JAMB change of course is easier before admission starts than after.

JAMB subject combination and O’level for Computer Engineering at Gregory University

RequirementWhat the JAMB brochure says
Course name on JAMBComputer Engineering (listed under Engineering, Environment and Technology on Gregory’s course list)
UTMEUse of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
O’levelFive SSC credits: Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and English Language
Direct EntryThree A-level passes in Pure Mathematics (or Pure and Applied Mathematics), Chemistry and Physics
Gregory-specific remarksNone. Gregory does not appear in the UTME, O’level or Direct Entry remarks, including the remark that lets some universities accept another science subject in place of Further Mathematics

Your four UTME papers are Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, with no alternative. At O’level you need credits in English Language, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Many applicants miss that the general line for Computer Engineering names Further Mathematics, and the few universities allowed to take another science subject instead are named in a remark that leaves Gregory out. Gregory’s 2025/2026 notice accepted WAEC, NECO or NABTEB results in not more than two sittings.

Computer Engineering suits you if you enjoy both electronics and programming. It is more hardware-heavy than Computer Science, so expect circuits, soldering and microcontrollers as well as code.

Direct Entry

Direct Entry candidates need three A-level passes: Pure Mathematics (or Pure and Applied Mathematics), Chemistry and Physics. That is stricter than Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Gregory has no remark on this entry and the brochure says nothing about ND or HND holders at Gregory, so ask the university directly before you apply with a diploma.

How Gregory University screens applicants

Gregory runs an online post-UTME screening. The details below come from two notices: the university’s own 19 August 2024 notice for 2024/2025, and the 2025/2026 notice as reprinted by Myschool on 24 July 2025. I could not open a 2026/2027 notice, though a news summary says Gregory opened 2026/2027 post-UTME, Direct Entry, transfer, JUPEB and IJMB admissions.

DetailWhat the notices said
Who could apply2025/2026: candidates who chose Gregory as first choice and scored at least 140. Others had to do a change of institution at a JAMB office or accredited CBT centre first
Where to applygregoryuniversityuturu.edu.ng/postutme
Steps (2024 notice)Fill the form, upload a passport photograph and other documents, then pay online
Documents (2025 notice)Passport photograph and UTME result as PDF files, plus WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result (maximum two sittings)
Fee₦2,000, non-refundable, by ATM card (2025/2026)
Written test or interviewNot stated in either notice
Enquiries0806 094 4681 and 0803 733 3920 (2024 notice)

Neither notice describes a written test, so plan as if Gregory will rank you on your UTME score and O’level grades. For Computer Engineering, your Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry grades will carry the most weight.

Worked example for Computer Engineering applicants

Gregory has not published an aggregate formula. To show how O’level grades can move you up or down, I use an illustrative method common at Nigerian universities: UTME score divided by 8 (up to 50 points) plus O’level points for five relevant subjects, where A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6 and C6 = 5 (up to 50 points). This is my example, not Gregory’s formula.

  1. Adaeze scored 196 with B3, B2, B3, B2, B3 in English, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. UTME points: 196 ÷ 8 = 24.5. O’level points: 8 + 9 + 8 + 9 + 8 = 42. Illustrative total: 66.5.
  2. Emeka scored 215 with C6, C5, C6, C6, C6 in the same five subjects. UTME points: 215 ÷ 8 = 26.875. O’level points: 5 + 6 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 26. Illustrative total: 52.875.
  3. The result: Adaeze leads by 13.625 points, even though Emeka scored 19 more marks in the UTME, because Adaeze’s O’level points are 16 higher.

How to apply for Computer Engineering at Gregory University, step by step

  1. Get a JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the SIM linked to that NIN. The code arrives by SMS.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: choose Computer Engineering at Gregory University, Uturu as your first choice, with Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. If Gregory is not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before you apply for screening.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your result is out. Check that every required credit shows on your JAMB profile.
  4. Apply for Gregory’s screening: go to gregoryuniversityuturu.edu.ng/postutme, fill the form, upload your passport photograph, UTME result and O’level as PDF files, and pay the fee online (₦2,000 in 2025/2026).
  5. Keep your records: save the payment receipt and the printout of your completed form for clearance.
  6. Check your status: watch the Gregory portal and your JAMB CAPS page. Every offer appears on CAPS.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gives four weeks. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  8. Pay acceptance and fees: Gregory’s acceptance and tuition fees were not in any official source I reached. Pay only the amount on your Gregory portal invoice.

Warning

Every genuine Gregory University offer appears on JAMB CAPS, and JAMB said in May 2026 that admission outside CAPS is illegal. Gregory says it has authorised no agents. Pay screening, acceptance and school fees only through the university’s official portal.

JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities such as Gregory, and in September 2026 it kept the existing deadlines when it restored CAPS (Nairametrics, 28 September 2026). If you applied in 2026, check CAPS rather than waiting for a printed list.

Computer Engineering at Gregory University: the programme

Gregory University is a private university licensed in 2012, on a 100-hectare site at Amaokwe Achara, Uturu, in Isuikwuato LGA of Abia State. Its founder is Prof. Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe. The College of Engineering lists six departments on the university website: Civil, Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical, Petroleum, Chemical and Computer Engineering. The dean’s welcome message mentions heavy machinery, technical tools and engineering workshops, and hands-on projects, without naming specific laboratories.

What you study

Gregory has not published a course outline for Computer Engineering that I could reach. Nigerian engineering degrees follow the NUC benchmark, and the first two years are largely shared across engineering departments. You can expect:

  • Foundations: engineering mathematics, physics, technical drawing, workshop practice and introductory programming.
  • Electronics: circuit theory, analogue and digital electronics and electronic devices.
  • Computer hardware: logic design, computer architecture, microprocessors and embedded systems.
  • Software: programming in more than one language, data structures, operating systems and software engineering.
  • Networks and signals: data communication, computer networks, signals and systems, and control.
  • Practice: laboratory work, SIWES industrial training and a final-year hardware or software project.

Accreditation, degree and duration

I could not confirm NUC accreditation for Gregory’s Computer Engineering. NUC’s results publication (1990 to 2025) could not be read as far as Gregory, and none of NUC’s online programme reports I found names a Gregory engineering course. COREN accreditation matters as well, because COREN registration as an engineer later depends on it, and I found no COREN report for Gregory. The degree is normally a B.Eng, and five years is the usual length for UTME entrants in Nigerian engineering, with Direct Entry students joining at 200 level; Gregory’s own page does not state either.

Careers

  • Embedded systems and hardware engineer.
  • Network engineer with telecom operators, banks and internet service providers.
  • Software developer, especially for systems close to hardware.
  • IT infrastructure and cybersecurity roles.
  • Registration as an engineer with COREN after the required experience.

If you are comparing universities, see our ESUT Computer Engineering, SUMAS Computer Engineering guides too.

For revision, our JAMB Chemistry syllabus covers one of your four papers. If you are writing in 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts, and once results are out, see how to check your JAMB result.

Mistakes that cost Computer Engineering applicants a Gregory place

  • No Further Mathematics credit: the general O’level line requires it and Gregory has no waiver in the brochure.
  • Treating 140 as the 2026 figure: JAMB’s 2026 university minimum is 150.
  • Direct Entry with two A-levels: Computer Engineering asks for three.
  • Confusing it with Computer Science: they are separate JAMB courses with different requirements.
  • Not putting Gregory first: the 2025/2026 notice admitted only first-choice candidates.
  • Missing the CAPS window: JAMB gives four weeks to accept an offer.
