Oji River College of Health Tech Epidemiology and Disease Control Admission Requirements 2027/2028: Entrance Exam and Form

Epidemiology and Disease Control at Oji River College of Health Technology for 2027/2028: whether the programme is still running, the O’level benchmark, the entrance exam and the last form price on record.

Oji River College of Health Technology Epidemiology and Disease Control admission has no JAMB cut-off mark, and there is a bigger question to settle first: whether the programme is still taking students. It appeared in the 2024/2025 advert of Enugu State College of Health Technology, Oji River, which asked for an O’level certificate, sold the form for ₦10,000 at the admission office and held the entrance exam on Saturday 10 August 2024. It was missing from the eight programmes named in a November 2025 report on the college, and no 2025/2026 or 2026/2027 advert has been found.

2027/2028 update: The admission requirements and entrance exam process at Oji River College of Health Technology usually stay the same from one year to the next, so what is on this page is what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. The latest advert we could trace is the 2024/2025 one, reprinted by an admissions blog; no 2025/2026 or 2026/2027 notice has turned up. If the 2027/2028 advert changes anything, we will update this page.

Because of that gap, treat this programme’s current status as unconfirmed and ask the college before you pay for anything. Below are the dated facts, the national diploma rules that give a benchmark for O’level subjects, how the entrance exam worked in the last cycle on record, the application steps and the regulator question to ask.

Is there a JAMB cut-off mark for Epidemiology and Disease Control at Oji River?

No cut-off mark has been published, and I could not find any source saying Epidemiology and Disease Control applicants at this college must sit the UTME. The 2024/2025 advert, as reprinted by Myschool, asked only for an O’level certificate and sent candidates to the college’s own entrance exam. If the programme is still running, what an applicant has to pass here is the college’s entrance exam.

If the college ever moves a programme onto JAMB’s list as a National Diploma, the national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics would apply. JAMB fixed that at 100 for 2025/2026 and kept it at 100 for 2026/2027 at its policy meeting of 11 May 2026. Until the college says so, treat that figure as background only.

Those 2024 dates and the ₦10,000 price belong to the 2024/2025 cycle. They are useful as a guide to timing, since the form came out in June and the exam held in August that year, but they are not 2026 or 2027 figures.

O’level subjects for Epidemiology and Disease Control at Oji River

The college has not published a subject list for Epidemiology and Disease Control. The only requirement in the advert reprint is an O’level certificate, with a reminder that candidates must meet the programme’s entry requirements before applying. That leaves the details to the admission office, so here is what I would have before buying the form. It follows the national ND rule set by NBTE, which I use as the benchmark; it is not the college’s published list.

SubjectNational ND benchmark (NBTE)
English LanguageCredit
MathematicsCredit
Biology or Health ScienceCredit
ChemistryCredit
Physics or GeographyCredit; NBTE’s ND list includes both

The table follows NBTE’s March 2021 curriculum for the National Diploma in Epidemiology and Disease Control Technology, which asks for five credits at no more than two sittings and names English, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science, Chemistry, Physics and Geography as the relevant subjects. That is the national ND rule, not a list from the Oji River college. I would aim to have credits in all six if you can, since the college has not said which five it counts.

One admissions blog (Studentship, June 2025) lists credits in English, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry plus a National Diploma “in a relevant field” for this college. The national programme in this field is itself an ND, so school leavers would not need one to enter it. I read that line as an HND rule copied across. Ask the admission office.

JAMB’s polytechnic brochure, as reprinted by Myschool, gives a slightly different picture for the same ND title when it is offered through the UTME: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as UTME subjects, and five O’level credits including Mathematics and Biology or Health Science, with three more from a wider list. That route applies to polytechnics admitting through JAMB. It does not apply to Oji River’s entrance exam unless the college says so.

How the Oji River entrance exam works for Epidemiology and Disease Control

The college sets its own entrance exam. It has not published the subjects tested, the pass mark, the number of questions or how it ranks candidates, and no aggregate formula has been released. From the 2024/2025 cycle, these points are on record:

  • Forms were sold at the college’s admission office in Oji River, not through JAMB.
  • The form cost ₦10,000 in 2024. Myschool also advertised past questions for ₦4,500, but that was Myschool’s own product, not a college fee.
  • The exam was first fixed for Saturday 27 July 2024, then moved to Saturday 10 August 2024. Form sales closed on the exam day.
  • Studentship’s June 2025 page describes an online form and payment by card or at First Bank for the same session. The Myschool reprint says the admission office, and the college’s own notice was not available to me, so confirm the method in Oji River.

Worked example (illustrative)

Take Uche, who has C5 in English, C4 in Mathematics, C6 in Biology, C6 in Chemistry, B3 in Geography and D7 in Physics from WAEC 2026. Under the NBTE ND list he has five credits, with Geography in place of Physics. Before buying a form, he asks the admission office whether Epidemiology and Disease Control will admit a set in 2027/2028. If it will, he confirms that Geography counts. If it will not, Public Health or Environmental Health at the same college draws on the same science and leads to similar community health work.

The steps in that example are my planning advice. The college has not published a scoring method, and a pass in its exam is what decides the offer.

How to apply for Epidemiology and Disease Control at Oji River College of Health Technology

  1. Confirm that sales are open: visit or call the admission office at the college in Oji River. With no official website found, the office is the safest source of the current form price, closing date and exam date.
  2. Check the O’level rule for Epidemiology and Disease Control: ask which five subjects need credits, whether two sittings are accepted, and whether awaiting results are allowed.
  3. Buy the form from the college: in 2024 it was ₦10,000 at the admission office. Pay only through the channel the college gives you and keep the receipt.
  4. Fill and submit the form: choose Epidemiology and Disease Control as your programme, attach passport photographs and copies of your O’level result and birth certificate or age declaration, and submit before the closing date.
  5. Write the entrance exam: go with your receipt or exam slip. Revise English, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry at SSCE level, since those are the subjects most health exams draw from.
  6. Check the list and accept: when your name appears, pay the acceptance fee and the other fees the college lists. In 2025 the Oji River council listed acceptance, tuition, accreditation, development, examination, sanitation, sports and hostel charges among what it paid for its scholars, which gives you an idea of the separate items to expect.
  7. Only if the college says JAMB is needed: create a JAMB profile by sending NIN and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019, register the UTME with the college as your choice, upload your O’level to JAMB CAPS, then accept the offer on CAPS before paying the college. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each screen.

Warning

No official website for this college turned up in our searches, and sites that look official can belong to agents. Buy the form only at the college or through a payment channel the admission office gives you in writing, and never pay anyone who promises a guaranteed place.

Your chances of admission into Epidemiology and Disease Control

The college does not publish an intake quota, and no applicant numbers have been released, so nobody can give you real odds. Two facts help. In November 2025 every one of the 47 Oji River indigenes sponsored by the local council was offered admission, across eight programmes. The council was paying their fees, so this tells you the college admitted candidates who met its requirements; it does not tell you how many outsiders were turned down.

For this programme the uncertainty runs deeper, because its current intake is unconfirmed. If the college confirms it is admitting, I would expect a small applicant pool, since few candidates know the title. That is my judgement only.

The college’s condition is the second thing to weigh. In August 2024 the Enugu State Government said the college had fallen from its former standing, announced a revamp and asked students to return after a security breach near the school. The government said the suspects had been arrested and the victims, one of them a student, freed, and that more security personnel had been posted to Oji River. Visit the campus, ask current students about lectures and clinical postings, and ask the college to show you its accreditation letter for Epidemiology and Disease Control.

What you study in Epidemiology and Disease Control

Epidemiology is the study of how diseases spread through a population, and disease control is the work of stopping them: surveillance, outbreak response, immunisation support and vector control. The college has not published its course list. The topics below come from NBTE’s national ND curriculum, which shows what a diploma-level course in this field covers.

  • Introduction to epidemiology, communicable and non-communicable diseases
  • Microbiology, human anatomy and physiology, and biostatistics
  • Immunology in public health and primary health care
  • Disease surveillance, maternal and child health and health education
  • Entomology and pest control, and public health laboratory instrumentation
  • Field experience, clinical posting, a seminar and a research project

Duration and award

The college has not published how long its programme runs or what it awards. NBTE’s national ND in Epidemiology and Disease Control Technology runs two years over four semesters. Ask the admission office whether Oji River follows that curriculum.

Accreditation and licensing

Under NBTE’s March 2021 curriculum, ND students sit EHORECON’s professional certification exam in the second semester of ND II. Those who pass are temporarily licensed as supervisee Epidemiology and Disease Control Assistants while they complete a year of supervised field experience. NBTE and EHORECON accredit the programme jointly. I could not confirm that either body has approved the programme at Oji River, and the college has published nothing on it.

Do not confuse this college with the Oji River campus of the Enugu State College of Nursing Sciences. The state government reported in April 2025 that the nursing college had opened campuses in Nsukka and Oji River after accreditation. That is a separate institution with its own admissions, and nursing is not one of the College of Health Technology’s programmes.

Careers

  • Disease surveillance and notification work in local government and state health departments
  • Outbreak response, immunisation and vector control campaigns
  • NGO and donor-funded disease control projects
  • Further study toward an HND or a public health degree

For entrance exam revision, cover SSCE Biology and Chemistry first. Our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus list the topics.

Mistakes Epidemiology and Disease Control applicants make

  • Waiting for a JAMB cut-off: none has been published. The college’s own form and exam decide admission.
  • Planning with 2024 dates: the 27 July and 10 August 2024 exam dates and the ₦10,000 price were for 2024/2025.
  • Buying forms from strangers: buy at the college or through a channel it names.
  • Skipping the accreditation question: ask whether the programme is approved and whether it is still admitting before paying for anything.
  • Missing a science credit: Biology and Mathematics are the credits I would treat as essential for this programme.

If you also plan to write the UTME for a university or polytechnic place, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and, if you later want to switch schools, JAMB change of institution.
