The Fed Poly Isuochi cut off mark for Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) is 100 in the UTME. That is the score Federal Polytechnic, Ngodo-Isuochi asked for in its 2026/2027 advert, and it equals JAMB’s 2026 minimum for polytechnics. No separate SLT cut-off has been published.
2027/2028 update: Fed Poly Isuochi cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
ND Science Laboratory Technology sits in the School of Science and Industrial Technology, and The Mirror listed it among the school’s six NBTE-accredited courses in February 2025. Its JAMB rule is one of the most misread in the brochure, because Chemistry is not in the main UTME line. This guide sets out the cut-off, the exact subjects, the O’level credits, the application steps and my safe target.

Fed Poly Isuochi Science Laboratory Technology cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | “Score of 100 and above” in Fed Poly Isuochi’s admission advert | Official |
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics | Official (reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |

| Any year | None | A Science Laboratory Technology cut-off of its own | Never published |
So 100 is the only number the school and JAMB have used. Fed Poly Isuochi has not published merit lists with scores, so no one outside its admissions office knows the lowest score that actually got into Science Laboratory Technology. Treat any blog that quotes a precise departmental figure with suspicion unless it links to a school notice.
Safe target score for Science Laboratory Technology at Fed Poly Isuochi (my advice)
These bands are my own advice as an admissions adviser. Fed Poly Isuochi has published nothing like them.
| Your UTME score | My read for ND Science Laboratory Technology at Fed Poly Isuochi |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for any ND course |
| 100 to 114 | Eligible, but borderline |
| 115 to 129 | Fair chance |
| 130 to 149 | Good chance |
| 150 and above | Strong |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 130 or more. SLT is a common second choice for candidates who wanted Medical Laboratory Science, Pharmacy or Microbiology at a university, so it fills steadily. It is usually less crowded than Computer Science, which is why my target here is a little lower.
Does state of origin matter?
Fed Poly Isuochi is a federal institution, so it admits candidates from every state. It has not published a catchment list or a quota split for 2026/2027. I would not plan around an indigene advantage unless the school’s own notice mentions one.
Fed Poly Isuochi Science Laboratory Technology subject combination and O’level requirements
| Requirement | ND Science Laboratory Technology |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects (brochure wording) | Use of English plus “any three (3) of Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science or Physics” |
| What that means | English, Mathematics, Biology (or Agricultural Science) and Physics |
| Chemistry in the UTME | Accepted only through remarks for named schools (Damaturu Poly, IMT Enugu, Ilaro, Ede and others); Isuochi is not named |
| O’level credits | Mathematics and two of Physics, Biology/Agricultural Science/Health Science and Chemistry, plus two others from a technical list |
| Compulsory O’level credits | Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English Language |
| Fed Poly Isuochi advert rule | Five credits in relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics, from WAEC, NECO or NABTEB, in not more than two sittings |
As Myschool reprints JAMB’s polytechnic brochure, the main SLT line names only three subjects: Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science, and Physics. “Any three” of three means all three, so the combination that fits the printed rule is English, Mathematics, Biology and Physics. Chemistry appears only in remarks for specific schools, and Fed Poly Isuochi is not one of them. That looks odd for a laboratory course, so check the course on JAMB’s e-brochure when you register. Our JAMB Biology syllabus covers the Biology topics.
The O’level rule is stricter. The brochure asks for credits in all three basic sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and a credit in English, with Mathematics in the core. Fed Poly Isuochi’s advert adds that English and Mathematics are compulsory for everyone. So bring English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at credit level in no more than two sittings. With those five, every version of the rule is met. Chemistry is still the heart of the course, so keep revising it with our Chemistry syllabus guide even if you do not sit it in the UTME.
Direct Entry, HND and the Basic Studies programme
There is no Direct Entry into the first year of an ND. ND Science Laboratory Technology admission is through the UTME and JAMB CAPS only. The 2026/2027 advert lists ND programmes only, so Fed Poly Isuochi does not appear to run an HND in Science Laboratory Technology yet. After the ND, the standard NBTE route is one year of industrial attachment and then an HND application, usually needing at least a Lower Credit, at a polytechnic that offers the HND. HND admission is handled by the polytechnic directly, outside CAPS.
The same advert lists a Basic Studies Programme under the School of Business and General Studies. That kind of programme is usually a pre-ND route for candidates still fixing their O’level. The advert gives no entry rules for it, so ask the Admission Unit before you count on it.
How Fed Poly Isuochi screening works for Science Laboratory Technology
The 2026/2027 advert is short. It tells you how to apply and what you need, but it does not mention a screening test, a closing date or an admission list date. Here is what is confirmed and what is not.
| Detail | What is known | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Who can apply | Candidates who sat the UTME and scored 100 or above | Official (advert) |
| O’level | Five credits in relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics, from WAEC, NECO or NABTEB, in not more than two sittings | Official (advert) |
| O’level upload | Results must be uploaded to the JAMB portal (CAPS) | Official (advert) |
| Form fee | ₦2,000, non-refundable | Official (advert) |
| Where to apply | Online at fedpis.edu.ng, or the Admission Unit, Nkwoagu Temporary Site, Abia State | Official (advert) |
| Enquiries | 07034376858, 07034200093, registrar@fedpis.edu.ng | Official (advert) |
| Screening test | Not stated | Unknown |
| Closing date | Not stated | Unknown |
| Aggregate formula | Not published | Unknown |
Because the advert names no test, I expect selection to rest on your UTME score, your O’level grades and the number of places in each course. If the school schedules a test or a document check, it will announce it on its portal, so keep your login details safe after you pay.
Worked example for an ND Science Laboratory Technology applicant
Take Ngozi, who scored 134 in English, Mathematics, Biology and Physics. Her WAEC from one sitting has credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
- Eligibility: 134 minus 100 = 34. Comfortably above the school’s minimum.
- Against my safe target: 134 minus 130 = 4. That puts the score in my good band.
- UTME combination: English, Mathematics, Biology and Physics match the brochure line for Fed Poly Isuochi.
- O’level check: the credits cover the advert’s English and Mathematics rule and the brochure’s core subjects for Science Laboratory Technology.
Fed Poly Isuochi has not published how it ranks applicants. Many polytechnics combine the UTME score with O’level grade points, so here is one way that could look. Divide the UTME score by 8 to get a mark out of 50, then add points for five relevant O’level grades (A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6, C6 = 5) for another mark out of 50.
| Subject | Grade | Points |
|---|---|---|
| English Language | C4 | 7 |
| Mathematics | C5 | 6 |
| Biology | B2 | 9 |
| Chemistry | B3 | 8 |
| Physics | C6 | 5 |
| Total O’level points | 35 |
Ngozi’s UTME part is 134 ÷ 8 = 16.8, and the O’level part is 35, so the total is 51.8 out of 100. A rival with 112 in the UTME and the same grades would get 14.0 + 35 = 49.0. This formula is an illustration only. Fed Poly Isuochi has not published one. Under most methods a polytechnic might use, a weak O’level grade can cancel out a few extra UTME marks.
Your chances of getting Science Laboratory Technology at Fed Poly Isuochi
- SLT fills steadily but is usually less crowded than Computer Science. A score in the 130s with all five science credits is a good position.
- A missing Chemistry or Physics credit hurts more than a slightly low UTME score, because the brochure makes all three sciences compulsory.
- If CAPS offers you Public Health Technology or Animal Health and Production Technology instead, both are science courses in the same school.
- JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the deadline for polytechnic admissions in 2026/2027. Keep checking CAPS until then.
SLT was on The Mirror’s February 2025 list of six NBTE-accredited courses at the school. That is a press report, and the NBTE reviews programmes over time, so confirm the current status with the department before you pay fees.
How to apply for Science Laboratory Technology at Fed Poly Isuochi, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN, then use the code to register for the UTME.
- Register the right subjects: for Science Laboratory Technology, that is English, Mathematics, Biology and Physics. Check the course on JAMB’s e-brochure during registration before you pay.
- Choose Fed Poly Isuochi: if the polytechnic was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before admissions start. To move into this course from another one, see JAMB change of course.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB accredited centre. The advert makes this a condition, and JAMB cannot approve an offer while your O’level is missing.
- Buy the form: apply online at fedpis.edu.ng and pay the ₦2,000 non-refundable fee. Print every page and receipt the portal gives you.
- Watch for screening or document checks: the advert does not name a test date, so check the portal and call 07034376858 or 07034200093 if you are unsure.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and clear: Fed Poly Isuochi has not published its acceptance fee in any source I could reach. Pay only through the school’s portal or an invoice in your name, then complete clearance at the temporary site.
Warning
Admission into Fed Poly Isuochi comes through JAMB CAPS. If anyone offers you a “special list” or a “supplementary slot” for money, walk away. A genuine offer appears on your CAPS page, and genuine school payments go through the polytechnic’s own portal.
If you still need to sit the UTME, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts. When results come out, see how to check your JAMB result.
Studying Science Laboratory Technology at Fed Poly Isuochi
ND SLT trains laboratory technicians who prepare samples, run tests, look after equipment and keep laboratory records in schools, hospitals, research institutes and factories. At HND level, polytechnics usually split SLT into options such as Biology/Microbiology, Chemistry/Biochemistry and Physics with Electronics.
What you study
- General laboratory techniques and laboratory safety
- General, analytical, organic and physical chemistry basics
- General biology, cell biology and introductory microbiology
- Physics for laboratory work, measurement and instrumentation
- Glassblowing, equipment maintenance and laboratory management
- Statistics, computer use, communication skills and SIWES
This is the usual NBTE pattern for the ND. Fed Poly Isuochi has not published its own course outline, so exact course titles may differ.
Duration and accreditation
Under the standard NBTE structure, the ND runs for two years full time, including a short period of SIWES. Students who want the HND then do a one-year industrial attachment before applying. The school has not published a course-specific timetable, so treat this as the national pattern.
On accreditation, The Mirror (2 February 2025) reported that the NBTE had accredited six courses at the polytechnic, and Science Laboratory Technology was one of them, alongside Computer Engineering, Statistics, Accountancy and Business Administration and Management. That is a press report. Ask the department to confirm the current status before you pay fees.
About Fed Poly Isuochi
Federal Polytechnic, Ngodo-Isuochi is in Umunneochi LGA, Abia State. News reports describe it as a new institution established in 2022. Classes run from a temporary site while the permanent site is built, and the groundbreaking for the permanent site was reported in February 2025. The rector, Dr Paul-Darlington Ibemezie Ndubuisi, began a single five-year term on 17 January 2023. Expect the facilities of a growing school, and visit before you accept if you can.
Do not confuse it with Ihechukwu Madubuike Institute of Technology, a separate private institution listed in the same LGA.

Mistakes that cost SLT applicants a place at Fed Poly Isuochi
- Registering Chemistry in the UTME without checking: the brochure reprint gives Chemistry only to named schools, and Isuochi is not one of them.
- Missing one of the three science credits: Biology, Chemistry and Physics are all compulsory at O’level.
- Using Agricultural Science and assuming it covers everything: it can replace Biology, but you still need Chemistry and Physics credits.
- No O’level on CAPS: the advert makes the upload a condition, and JAMB cannot approve an offer without it.
- Paying anyone for a “special list”: genuine offers appear on CAPS only.
