The GOUNI Cybersecurity cut-off mark is 150 in the UTME. Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, set 150 as the 2026/2027 minimum for every programme other than Medicine and Surgery, Nursing and Law, and Cybersecurity is listed among its available programmes in the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FACIT). Before you plan around that figure, know this: JAMB’s course list for GOUNI has no Cybersecurity or Cyber Security entry.
2027/2028 update: GOUNI cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Check before you register
JAMB’s course list for Godfrey Okoye University has no Cybersecurity entry. Before you register for the UTME or change your course, look at JAMB’s GOUNI list yourself, then e-mail GOUNI admissions and ask which JAMB course leads to Cybersecurity. Get the answer in writing and keep it. Do not register another course on the assumption that it will be switched later. If GOUNI cannot name one, choose a course you would be happy to study as listed, or apply for Cyber Security at a university that lists it on JAMB.
I checked GOUNI’s 2026/2027 programme list against JAMB’s 55 courses for GOUNI (Myschool’s reprint, 30 October 2026). The closest JAMB names are Computer Science, which GOUNI also lists under FACIT and which shares JAMB’s general UTME line for Cyber Security, and Mathematics with Computer Science, which is on JAMB’s list but missing from GOUNI’s own 2026/2027 programme list. GOUNI has not confirmed either as the way into Cybersecurity.
Read on for how to settle the JAMB question, the subjects that cover every reading, how GOUNI’s online admission works, what GOUNI has and has not published about this new degree, and the listed alternatives in Enugu.

Is Cybersecurity really offered at GOUNI?
GOUNI has been building toward it for about two years. The record so far:
- Around the 2024/2025 session, an undated GOUNI news update said the Computer Science department had become a faculty, with Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity as planned courses.
- In the post “GOUNI’s Faculty of Computing kicks off 2025!”, GOUNI said the faculty would start fully in 2025/2026, named Cyber Security among its three founding departments with Software Engineering and Data Science, and said every student must own a laptop.
- For 2026/2027, GOUNI’s admission page lists Cybersecurity under FACIT, and its A to Z course list shows it there without a course page.
The gaps: no JAMB entry for GOUNI, no JUPEB combination, no GOUNI curriculum handbook, no fee row in the 2025/2026 schedule, and no NUC approval notice that I could find. NUC approvals for new programmes are often reported publicly, as ESUT’s Cyber Security approval was in July 2026, so the silence here is a reason to ask GOUNI for its NUC approval letter before you pay anything.
Settling the JAMB course question
- Check JAMB’s list first: at your CBT centre or on JAMB’s e-facility, pick Godfrey Okoye University and scroll its courses. If Cybersecurity or Cyber Security is now there, register it.
- Write to GOUNI if it is not: e-mail admissions@gouni.edu.ng, say you want the B.Sc. Cybersecurity, and ask which JAMB course you should register to be admitted into it. In the same e-mail, ask for the programme’s NUC approval status.
- Keep the answer: print and save it, because the course on your CAPS offer may not match the course on your GOUNI letter.
- Register only what GOUNI names: do not pick Computer Science or Mathematics with Computer Science on the hope of a later switch. Choose GOUNI Computer Science only if you would be content to graduate in Computer Science.
Is 150 enough for Cybersecurity at GOUNI?
GOUNI’s 2026/2027 list of minimum JAMB scores reads: Medicine and Surgery 200, Nursing 180, Law 200, Architecture 150, Computer Science 150, Education 150 and other programmes 150. Cybersecurity is not named, so it takes the 150 for other programmes. No departmental figure has been published.
GOUNI Cybersecurity cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Minimum UTME score for programmes outside Medicine, Law and Nursing | Official GOUNI form page |
| 2025/2026 | Not found | No GOUNI notice for this session reached; the faculty was just starting | Unverified |
Safe target score (my advice)
| Your UTME score | My read for Cybersecurity at GOUNI |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible at any Nigerian university in 2026/2027 |
| 150 to 159 | Eligible at GOUNI once the JAMB route is settled; SUMAS and Renaissance University Computer Science also take 150 |
| 160 to 199 | Comfortable; UNN Computer Science (160) becomes a backup |
| 200 and above | Strong; meets ESUT’s 200 band for Cyber Security, which JAMB-listed candidates could apply to |
Given the open question about the JAMB course, I would aim for 200 or more in the 2027 UTME. It keeps ESUT Cyber Security in reach, a programme with a reported NUC approval, if GOUNI’s answer is late or vague. GOUNI is private, so there is no catchment or state quota.
UTME subjects and O’level for Cybersecurity
Without a GOUNI entry there is no GOUNI remark on JAMB’s Cyber Security page. JAMB’s general Cyber Security line and GOUNI’s Computer Science rules are the best references, and they agree on almost everything.
| Requirement | JAMB general line for Cyber Security | GOUNI Computer Science (closest GOUNI rule) |
|---|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography | The same line |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and two other sciences | Five credits including English, Mathematics, Physics and other relevant sciences, in at most two sittings |
| Direct Entry | Two A-level passes in sciences including Mathematics, or NCE merit in Mathematics and one other Science or Social Science | Credit-level ND or NCE plus five O’level credits including English, Mathematics and Physics |
| GOUNI remark | None | None |
The set I would prepare: Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in the UTME, and credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and one other science within two sittings. It satisfies JAMB’s Cyber Security and Computer Science lines and GOUNI’s handbook rules, so you are covered whichever course GOUNI names. Do not drop Physics for Economics or Geography in the O’level; both lines need the Physics credit.
How GOUNI admission works
There is no written Post-UTME test in GOUNI’s 2026/2027 description for undergraduates. You apply online and GOUNI e-mails a decision within three working days.
| Detail | GOUNI 2026/2027 process |
|---|---|
| Where to apply | Fill Admission Form page on gouni.edu.ng |
| Form fee | Free |
| Who can apply | Candidates with 150 or more who chose GOUNI, or who change institution to GOUNI |
| Written Post-UTME test | None described for undergraduates |
| Decision | E-mailed within three working days |
| After an offer | Pay acceptance, tuition, ICT and other fees through GOUNI’s official platform |
| Transfer students | CGPA of 2.5 on a 4-point scale or 4.0 on a 5-point scale |
Worked example
Kosisochukwu has credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Further Mathematics from one WAEC sitting. He wants Cybersecurity at GOUNI, is about to register for the 2027 UTME, and is aiming for about 190.
- Subject check: he plans English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, which fits JAMB’s Cyber Security and Computer Science lines, and his O’level covers both.
- The JAMB question: before registering, he e-mails GOUNI asking which JAMB course leads to Cybersecurity and whether it has NUC approval, and saves the reply.
- Score plan: 190 would clear GOUNI’s 150 by 40. If he reaches 200, ESUT Cyber Security also comes into play; if he lands between 160 and 199, UNN Computer Science is his public backup.
- Result: he registers only the course GOUNI names, then fills GOUNI’s form once his result is out.
Uchenna scored 157 and registered GOUNI Computer Science, but now wants Cybersecurity. She should send GOUNI her JAMB registration number and ask whether that registration can lead to Cybersecurity. If the answer is no, Computer Science at GOUNI already includes digital forensics, ethical hacking and cloud security courses, which is not a bad place to be. If GOUNI names another JAMB course, she can use the change of course window.
How to apply to GOUNI for Cybersecurity
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Settle the course name first: check JAMB’s GOUNI list and register only the course GOUNI confirms in writing.
- Fix your choice if needed: GOUNI says candidates who did not choose it first must do a JAMB change of institution. Our change of institution guide explains how.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre and check each grade on your e-Facility profile.
- Fill GOUNI’s online form: open the Fill Admission Form page, choose Cybersecurity, and give an e-mail address you check every day.
- Form fee: free. The ₦5,000 fee applies only to Medicine and Surgery, Nursing and Law.
- Read the course on CAPS: when your offer shows at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, check the course name before accepting. If it differs from what GOUNI told you, e-mail admissions before you click accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay through the portal only: GOUNI’s official online platform. GOUNI says payments into personal accounts are at the payer’s own risk, and nobody can sell you a place.
For the 2026/2027 cycle, JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the admission deadline for private universities, and GOUNI repeated that date in its news post of 12 May 2026. That window runs until 30 November 2026. JAMB has not announced the 2027/2028 dates yet; they normally come after the UTME, so 2027 candidates should watch for them then.
GOUNI Cybersecurity fees
There is no Cybersecurity row in GOUNI’s 2025/2026 fee schedule. The nearest published figure is Computer Science, listed under the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology at ₦1,220,000 for 100 level, ₦1,120,000 for 200 and 300 level, and ₦1,200,000 for 400 level. A 100 level student also pays ₦201,500 in listed other fees (acceptance ₦30,000, ICT ₦60,000, matriculation ₦20,000 and the rest), and Computer Science students pay an ₦80,000 GOTECHPRENEURSHIP fee. Get the Cybersecurity figure from the Bursary in writing, and add a laptop to your budget, since the faculty says every student must have one.
What a Cybersecurity degree covers
GOUNI has not published a Cybersecurity curriculum, award title or duration. A B.Sc. Cyber Security in Nigeria usually runs four years for UTME entrants and covers:
- Computing foundations: programming, data structures, operating systems, networks and databases.
- Security core: cryptography, network and systems security, secure software, identity and access management.
- Offence and response: ethical hacking and penetration testing, incident response, malware analysis and digital forensics.
- Governance: cyber law, risk management, security policy and ethics, including Nigeria’s Cybercrimes Act.
- Practice: SIWES industrial training and a final-year project.
GOUNI’s Computer Science handbook (2023 to 2028) gives a preview of how the university teaches this area. It already has Cyber Criminology, Law and Safety Measures at 200 level; Introduction to Cybersecurity and Strategy and Digital Forensics and Investigation Methodologies at 300 level, with Ethical Hacking and Blockchain and Cryptography as electives; and Cloud Computing Security at 400 level.
A word on professional bodies, because agents like to wave them about. In May 2025 NUC told universities that professional bodies may not accredit university programmes on their own; only seven councils (MDCN, CLE, NMCN, PCN, VCN, COREN and ARCON) were given waivers, according to The Sun’s report of 22 May 2025. No professional council holds a waiver for computing or security degrees. For admission, the status that matters is NUC’s.
Careers
Graduates go into security operations centre (SOC) analyst roles, penetration testing, digital forensics, governance and compliance, and cloud security, in banks, fintechs, telecoms, consulting firms and government agencies. Industry certifications and hands-on practice count heavily in hiring, so start building skills in home labs and capture-the-flag contests early.
