Fed Poly Isuochi Cut-Off Mark for Computer Science 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

The Fed Poly Isuochi cut off mark for Computer Science is 100, from the school’s 2026/2027 advert and JAMB’s polytechnic minimum. See the UTME subjects, the compulsory Physics credit, safe target score and CAPS steps.

The Fed Poly Isuochi cut off mark for Computer Science is 100 in the UTME. Federal Polytechnic, Ngodo-Isuochi’s 2026/2027 advert sets “100 and above” for all its ND programmes, and JAMB’s 2026 minimum for polytechnics is also 100. The school has not released a departmental cut-off for Computer Science.

2027/2028 update: Fed Poly Isuochi cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

ND Computer Science is in the School of Science and Industrial Technology, and it was one of the six courses The Mirror reported as NBTE-accredited in February 2025. Its JAMB subject rule surprises many candidates, because Physics is not compulsory in the UTME but is compulsory at O’level. This guide explains that, plus the cut-off, my safe target, the application steps and what the course covers.

So 100 is the only number the school and JAMB have used. Fed Poly Isuochi has not published merit lists with scores, so no one outside its admissions office knows the lowest score that actually got into Computer Science. Treat any blog that quotes a precise departmental figure with suspicion unless it links to a school notice.

Safe target score for Computer Science at Fed Poly Isuochi (my advice)

These bands are my own advice as an admissions adviser. Fed Poly Isuochi has published nothing like them.

Your UTME scoreMy read for ND Computer Science at Fed Poly Isuochi
Below 100Not eligible for any ND course
100 to 119Eligible, but borderline
120 to 139Fair chance
140 to 159Good chance
160 and aboveStrong

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 140 or more. Computer Science is the most requested ND course at most polytechnics I have looked at, and many candidates who missed university Computer Science fall back to it. Even at a young school like Fed Poly Isuochi, I expect it to fill first, so give yourself a clear margin.

Does state of origin matter?

Fed Poly Isuochi is a federal institution, so it admits candidates from every state. It has not published a catchment list or a quota split for 2026/2027. I would not plan around an indigene advantage unless the school’s own notice mentions one.

Fed Poly Isuochi Computer Science subject combination and O’level requirements

RequirementND Computer Science
UTME subjects (brochure wording)Use of English plus “Mathematics and any two (2) of Geography, Physics, Economics or Chemistry”
Physics in the UTMENot compulsory under the main rule
Biology or Further Mathematics in the UTMENot in the main list
Any waiver for Fed Poly IsuochiNone found. Remarks name schools such as IMT Enugu, Yabatech and Kaduna Poly
O’level creditsMathematics, a basic science and three others from the brochure list
Compulsory O’level creditsEnglish Language and Physics
Fed Poly Isuochi advert ruleFive credits in relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics, from WAEC, NECO or NABTEB, in not more than two sittings

The UTME rule gives you a choice: Mathematics plus any two of Geography, Physics, Economics or Chemistry, with Use of English on top. English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry works. So does English, Mathematics, Economics and Geography. Biology and Further Mathematics are not in the main list, so do not use them as UTME subjects for this course. If you have a strong science background, I would still take Physics, because it supports the O’level rule and the electronics content of the course.

At O’level, the brochure asks for five credits including Mathematics, a basic science and three others from a list that runs through Economics, Geography, Government or History, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science and English. It then says credits in English Language and Physics are compulsory. Some schools (Abia Poly, IMT Enugu and Adamawa Poly) are allowed a Physics pass instead. Fed Poly Isuochi is not on that remark, so bring a Physics credit. A safe five is English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Biology, and Economics or Further Mathematics.

Direct Entry, HND and the Basic Studies programme

There is no Direct Entry into the first year of an ND. ND Computer Science admission is through the UTME and JAMB CAPS only. The 2026/2027 advert lists ND programmes only, so Fed Poly Isuochi does not appear to run an HND in Computer Science yet. After the ND, the standard NBTE route is one year of industrial attachment and then an HND application, usually needing at least a Lower Credit, at a polytechnic that offers the HND. HND admission is handled by the polytechnic directly, outside CAPS.

The same advert lists a Basic Studies Programme under the School of Business and General Studies. That kind of programme is usually a pre-ND route for candidates still fixing their O’level. The advert gives no entry rules for it, so ask the Admission Unit before you count on it.

How Fed Poly Isuochi screening works for Computer Science

The 2026/2027 advert is short. It tells you how to apply and what you need, but it does not mention a screening test, a closing date or an admission list date. Here is what is confirmed and what is not.

Because the advert names no test, I expect selection to rest on your UTME score, your O’level grades and the number of places in each course. If the school schedules a test or a document check, it will announce it on its portal, so keep your login details safe after you pay.

Worked example for an ND Computer Science applicant

Take Emeka, who scored 146 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Economics. His WAEC from one sitting has credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Economics.

  1. Eligibility: 146 minus 100 = 46. Comfortably above the school’s minimum.
  2. Against my safe target: 146 minus 140 = 6. That puts the score in my good band.
  3. UTME combination: English, Mathematics, Physics and Economics match the brochure line for Fed Poly Isuochi.
  4. O’level check: the credits cover the advert’s English and Mathematics rule and the brochure’s core subjects for Computer Science.

Fed Poly Isuochi has not published how it ranks applicants. Many polytechnics combine the UTME score with O’level grade points, so here is one way that could look. Divide the UTME score by 8 to get a mark out of 50, then add points for five relevant O’level grades (A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6, C6 = 5) for another mark out of 50.

SubjectGradePoints
English LanguageB38
MathematicsB29
PhysicsC47
ChemistryC56
EconomicsB38
Total O’level points38

Emeka’s UTME part is 146 ÷ 8 = 18.2, and the O’level part is 38, so the total is 56.2 out of 100. A rival with 112 in the UTME and the same grades would get 14.0 + 38 = 52.0. This formula is an illustration only. Fed Poly Isuochi has not published one. Under most methods a polytechnic might use, a weak O’level grade can cancel out a few extra UTME marks.

Your chances of getting Computer Science at Fed Poly Isuochi

  • Computer Science is usually the busiest course in a polytechnic’s science school. A score in the 140s with the right credits gives you a good chance.
  • A missing Physics credit is the trap here. The UTME lets you skip Physics, but the O’level rule does not, and the Physics pass waiver does not cover Isuochi.
  • If CAPS offers you Statistics or Computer Engineering Technology instead, both are on the February 2025 accredited list and lead to computing or data work.
  • Polytechnics were asked to finish 2026/2027 admissions by 31 December 2026, so watch CAPS through the end of the year.

Computer Science is one of the courses The Mirror listed as accredited in February 2025, which is a good sign for a school this young. Accreditation is reviewed over time, so still confirm the current status with the department.

How to apply for Computer Science at Fed Poly Isuochi, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN, then use the code to register for the UTME.
  2. Register the right subjects: for Computer Science, that is English, Mathematics and two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics or Geography. Check the course on JAMB’s e-brochure during registration before you pay.
  3. Choose Fed Poly Isuochi: if the polytechnic was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before admissions start. To move into this course from another one, see JAMB change of course.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB accredited centre. The advert makes this a condition, and JAMB cannot approve an offer while your O’level is missing.
  5. Buy the form: apply online at fedpis.edu.ng and pay the ₦2,000 non-refundable fee. Print every page and receipt the portal gives you.
  6. Watch for screening or document checks: the advert does not name a test date, so check the portal and call 07034376858 or 07034200093 if you are unsure.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  8. Pay acceptance and clear: Fed Poly Isuochi has not published its acceptance fee in any source I could reach. Pay only through the school’s portal or an invoice in your name, then complete clearance at the temporary site.

Warning

Admission into Fed Poly Isuochi comes through JAMB CAPS. If anyone offers you a “special list” or a “supplementary slot” for money, walk away. A genuine offer appears on your CAPS page, and genuine school payments go through the polytechnic’s own portal.

If you still need to sit the UTME, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts. When results come out, see how to check your JAMB result.

Studying Computer Science at Fed Poly Isuochi

ND Computer Science at a polytechnic is practical. You learn programming, how computers and networks work, and how to build and maintain simple systems. It is less theory-heavy than a university BSc, with more time in the computer laboratory.

What you study

  • Introduction to computing and computer applications
  • Programming (usually starting with a structured language, then object-oriented work)
  • Computer hardware, maintenance and basic electronics
  • Data structures, databases and file organisation
  • Networking, internet technologies and web design basics
  • Statistics, mathematics for computing, communication skills and SIWES

This is the usual NBTE pattern for the ND. Fed Poly Isuochi has not published its own course outline, so exact course titles may differ.

Duration and accreditation

Under the standard NBTE structure, the ND runs for two years full time, including a short period of SIWES. Students who want the HND then do a one-year industrial attachment before applying. The school has not published a course-specific timetable, so treat this as the national pattern.

On accreditation, The Mirror (2 February 2025) reported that the NBTE had accredited six courses at the polytechnic, and Computer Science was one of them, alongside Computer Engineering, Statistics, Accountancy and Business Administration and Management. That is a press report. Ask the department to confirm the current status before you pay fees.

About Fed Poly Isuochi

Federal Polytechnic, Ngodo-Isuochi is in Umunneochi LGA, Abia State. News reports describe it as a new institution established in 2022. Classes run from a temporary site while the permanent site is built, and the groundbreaking for the permanent site was reported in February 2025. The rector, Dr Paul-Darlington Ibemezie Ndubuisi, began a single five-year term on 17 January 2023. Expect the facilities of a growing school, and visit before you accept if you can.

Do not confuse it with Ihechukwu Madubuike Institute of Technology, a separate private institution listed in the same LGA.

Careers after the ND

  • IT support and computer maintenance technician
  • Junior web or software developer, after building a portfolio
  • Database and data entry roles in banks, schools and government offices
  • Network support assistant with internet service providers and companies
  • HND in Computer Science at a polytechnic that runs it, with registration options under the Computer Professionals (Registration Council of Nigeria) rules later in your career

Mistakes that cost Computer Science applicants a place at Fed Poly Isuochi

  • Registering Biology or Further Mathematics in the UTME: neither is in the brochure’s list for this course.
  • No Physics credit: the brochure makes it compulsory, and the Physics pass waiver does not name Isuochi.
  • A score just above 100: it makes you eligible, but Computer Science fills early. Aim higher.
  • No O’level on CAPS: the advert makes the upload a condition of eligibility.
  • Paying agents for a “special list”: all offers come through CAPS.
