There is no separate Marist Poly cut-off mark for Electrical/Electronics Engineering. The official minimum is 100 in the UTME, the score JAMB fixed for every polytechnic for 2026/2027, and Marist Polytechnic, Emene, Enugu, has not published a higher departmental figure for this course or any other. In practice your UTME score, the right subject combination and a clean set of O’level credits decide whether you get in.
2027/2028 update: Marist Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
The course appears on JAMB’s list for Marist as Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, so you can choose it in the UTME. Marist also named ND Electrical Electronics Engineering in its last official admission advert (2025/2026). Below you will find the exact UTME subjects JAMB’s brochure asks for, the O’level rule, how Marist admits, a safe score to aim for in the 2027 UTME, and what the ND leads to.

Electrical/Electronics Engineering cut-off history at Marist
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB minimum UTME score for polytechnics | Official (JAMB policy meeting, reported by NAN, 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB minimum UTME score for polytechnics | Official (2025 policy meeting, reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |
| Any year | None | Marist departmental cut-off for EEE | Never published by Marist |
Marist’s 2025/2026 advert (26 June 2025) listed the courses open for admission and told candidates how to apply, but it gave no score. That is common at private polytechnics: they rarely fill on merit and they take most candidates who meet JAMB’s floor and the O’level rule. Anyone quoting you a “Marist EEE cut-off” of 150 or 180 is guessing.
Safe target score for EEE at Marist Poly (my advice)
This table is my judgement as an admissions adviser. Marist has not published it.
| Your UTME score | My read for EEE at Marist |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for full-time ND at any polytechnic |
| 100 to 129 | Eligible under JAMB rules; a fair chance if your O’level credits are complete |
| 130 to 149 | Solid for a private polytechnic |
| 150 and above | Comfortable. This is the range I would aim for |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 150 or more. Marist will probably not need it, but it keeps public options open: IMT Enugu also runs Electrical/Electronics Engineering, and a higher score gives you room to switch before CAPS closes. It also tells you that your Mathematics and Physics are strong enough for the ND itself.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Electrical/Electronics Engineering at Marist
| Requirement | What JAMB’s brochure says |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English (compulsory) + Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry |
| O’level | Five credits: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus any two of Biology/Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work, Further Mathematics, English Language, Geography, Economics/Commerce |
| Sittings | Not stated for Marist; most polytechnics accept not more than two |
| Marist remark on the brochure | None. The general rule applies |
| Direct Entry | Brochure section is blank for this course |
The UTME combination is fixed: English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The only Biology waiver on this brochure page belongs to IMT Enugu (IMT-ENU), so do not swap Chemistry for Biology if Marist is your choice.
At O’level, the general line lists English Language among the optional extras, but I would treat a credit in English as required. Several polytechnics write it in as compulsory, NBTE’s usual ND entry rule includes it, and an admission officer at any polytechnic will look for it first. Technical Drawing or Basic Electricity is a good fifth credit if you have one.
How Marist screens Electrical/Electronics Engineering candidates
Marist has not published a Post-UTME test, an aggregate formula or a screening fee. Its 2025/2026 advert sent candidates to the Apply Now link on the Admissions menu (portal.maristpolytechnic.edu.ng) and asked those who had not chosen Marist to make it their first choice at a JAMB CBT centre. After that, the school recommends candidates on JAMB CAPS. In practice, expect three checks: your UTME score against the 100 floor, your UTME subjects against the brochure, and your O’level against the five-credit rule.
Worked example (illustrative)
Take Chidera, who scored 143 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and has one WAEC sitting with B3 in Mathematics, C4 in Physics, C5 in Chemistry, B2 in English Language and C6 in Technical Drawing.
- JAMB floor: 143 minus 100 = 43 marks above the polytechnic minimum.
- Subjects: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry match the brochure line exactly.
- O’level: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are credited, and English Language and Technical Drawing fill the two remaining places.
- My read: nothing rules her out. She should apply on the Marist portal early, confirm her O’level is on CAPS and check CAPS every week.
Compare Emeka with 121 who wrote Biology instead of Chemistry. His score is fine, but his combination does not match the brochure for Marist, so CAPS can reject the recommendation. His better move is to keep the score and look at a course his subjects fit, such as Science Laboratory Technology at Marist, or plan a retake with Chemistry.
How to apply for Electrical/Electronics Engineering at Marist, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN by SMS to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN. JAMB replies with the profile code you need to buy the UTME e-PIN.
- Register for the UTME: choose Marist Polytechnic and Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
- Write the UTME and clear 100: 100 is JAMB’s floor for every polytechnic in 2026/2027. Aim higher (see the safe target above).
- Upload your O’level on CAPS: go to a JAMB-accredited CBT centre and have your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result uploaded. A result that is not on CAPS cannot be used to admit you, and Awaiting Result candidates must upload once the result is out.
- Make Marist your choice: if you picked another school at registration, do a JAMB change of institution. Marist’s 2025/2026 advert told candidates to do exactly this at a JAMB CBT centre.
- Apply on the Marist portal: from the Admissions menu on maristpolytechnic.edu.ng, click Apply Now. It opens portal.maristpolytechnic.edu.ng, where you fill the application and upload your details.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status you may see.
- Pay acceptance and school fees: pay only through channels the portal or the bursary names, then print your JAMB admission letter and complete registration.
Warning
Marist Polytechnic admits through JAMB CAPS. Do not pay anyone who offers to “process” your admission or sell a place, and do not accept a Marist admission letter that never shows on CAPS. JAMB has said admissions done outside CAPS are illegal. Use the official portal and email (info@maristpolytechnic.edu.ng) for questions.
For the 2026/2027 cycle, JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the admission deadline for polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education, and said offers must be accepted on CAPS. If you sat the 2026 UTME and chose Marist, that window runs until 31 December 2026.
Studying Electrical/Electronics Engineering at Marist Polytechnic
The ND runs for two years full-time under NBTE’s standard pattern, including a SIWES industrial placement. Graduates who want to go further spend a year in industrial training and then apply for the two-year HND. Marist lists an HND in Electrical/Electronics with a Power option, so you could stay on if you qualify.
What you study
- Electrical circuit theory, electrical and electronic measurements, and workshop practice.
- Electronics: semiconductor devices, analogue and digital circuits.
- Electrical machines, power systems and electrical installation.
- Engineering mathematics, technical drawing and computer applications, with a project in the final semester.
Accreditation
NBTE lists Marist Polytechnic as a private polytechnic approved in 2016, and the school reported an NBTE resource inspection visit in September 2025. The accreditation status of the Electrical/Electronics programme itself is not confirmed: Marist does not publish it and the NBTE directory’s programme tables could not be read. Ask the admission office to show you the current NBTE accreditation for the ND before you pay. It decides whether you can move on to HND elsewhere and whether you can later register with COREN as a technician.
Marist’s courses page also lists a B.Eng in Electrical/Electronic Engineering without naming a partner university. A polytechnic cannot award a degree by itself, so if that option interests you, ask in writing which university awards it before you pay anything.
Careers
An ND in Electrical/Electronics leads to technician roles in power distribution companies, building services, telecoms, solar and inverter installation, and factory maintenance. Many graduates use it as a step to the HND and to registration as an engineering technician.
Who runs Marist Polytechnic
Marist Polytechnic is a private Catholic polytechnic run by the Marist Brothers at Umuchigbo Iji-Nike, Emene, Enugu State. The Rector is Rev. Br. Anochie Okechukwu Venantius (PhD). NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes lists it as a private polytechnic (entry 85, P.M.B. 104 Emene) and gives 2016 as the year government approved it. The school’s courses page groups programmes into five schools: Computing and IT, Engineering Technology, Environmental Technology, Health/Allied/Applied Sciences, and Management Sciences.
Electrical/Electronics sits most naturally in the Engineering Technology school, but the courses page does not tie each programme to a school, so confirm your department’s name when you get your admission letter.

Mistakes that cost EEE applicants a Marist place
- Writing Biology instead of Chemistry: the Biology waiver on the brochure is IMT Enugu’s, not Marist’s.
- No credit in Physics or Mathematics: both are named in the O’level line; a pass will not do.
- Leaving O’level off CAPS: Marist cannot recommend you without it.
- Waiting for a Post-UTME date: none has been announced; apply on the portal once the form opens.
- Paying an agent: pay only through the portal or the bursary.
