UNN Cut-Off Mark for Medical Rehabilitation (Physiotherapy) 2027/2028: Post-UTME Requirements

UNN Cut-Off Mark for Medical Rehabilitation (Physiotherapy) 2027/2028: Post-UTME Requirements
UNN needs 160 in the UTME to apply for Medical Rehabilitation in 2026/2027 and has published no departmental cut-off. See the UTME-only entry rule, O’level subjects, aggregate example and target score.

The UNN cut off mark for Medical Rehabilitation for 2026/2027 is 160 to apply. That is the UTME score the University of Nigeria, Nsukka set in its 2026/2027 screening notice of 13 July 2026 for candidates who chose UNN first. UNN has not published a departmental cut-off for Medical Rehabilitation (its physiotherapy degree) for 2026/2027 or 2025/2026, so a site quoting an “official” figure for this course is not quoting UNN.

2027/2028 update: UNN cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

You will also see 200 mentioned. That was UNN’s minimum as reported from the JAMB 2026 policy meeting on 11 May 2026. In short, UNN accepted screening applications from 160, its declared benchmark at the policy meeting was 200, and a professional health course like Medical Rehabilitation admits well above both. This guide covers the verified entry rules (UTME only, no Direct Entry at UNN), the post-UTME screening process, an aggregate example, the score I would target and what the programme leads to.

The 160 is a gate, nothing more. The departmental cut-off, if UNN ever releases one, is the lowest score admitted after everyone has been screened and ranked. Because UNN does not publish it, the only honest thing I can give you is a target range, clearly marked as my advice, further down.

Medical Rehabilitation post-UTME requirements: UTME subjects and O’level

Two sources agree here. UNN’s Faculty of Health Sciences publishes its admission rules, and the JAMB brochure entry for Medical Rehabilitation carries UNN-specific remarks.

RequirementWhat you needSource
UTME subjectsUse of English, Physics, Chemistry, BiologyJAMB brochure; UNN remark says its UTME rule is “as in Medical Laboratory Science”
O’levelFive credits in SSCE or equivalent: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, BiologyUNN Faculty of Health Sciences admission page; JAMB brochure
Admission routeUTME onlyUNN Faculty of Health Sciences admission page
Direct EntryNot offered at UNNUNN faculty page and JAMB brochure remark
Minimum UTME to apply160, UNN as first choiceUNN screening notice, 13 July 2026

Neither source states the maximum number of sittings for this course. The brochure says UNN’s O’level rule follows Medical Laboratory Science, and the Medical Laboratory Science brochure page would not load when I checked. One sitting is the safe position. If you must combine two results, confirm with the faculty before you pay for screening.

Elsewhere in Nigeria some universities take Direct Entry candidates into physiotherapy. At UNN you cannot. If you already have A’level or a science degree and want physiotherapy at UNN, you write the UTME.

Biology and Chemistry carry a large share of your UTME preparation. Our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus guides set out the topics.

UNN screening for 2027/2028: what Medical Rehabilitation candidates had to do

UNN did not run a written post-UTME test for 2026/2027. The Registrar’s notice of 13 July 2026 described an online screening registration only, with no test date and no exam format. If a website is selling you “UNN post-UTME past questions for 2026/2027” as preparation for Medical Rehabilitation, know that the official notice did not mention any paper.

The portal route was unn.edu.ng, then UNN Portal at the top right (unnportal.unn.edu.ng), then Prospective Students and the 2026/2027 screening form. You entered your JAMB registration number, generated and paid the invoice, came back to fill personal and O’level details (including centre and exam numbers), uploaded your documents, reviewed, submitted and printed the acknowledgement slip. The notice warned that date of birth cannot be changed after submission.

The window is closed. If you did not register by 5 August 2026, UNN cannot consider you for 2026/2027, whatever your score.

How UNN ranks Medical Rehabilitation candidates (aggregate example)

UNN has not published its aggregate formula. Neither the 2026/2027 screening notice nor the 2025/2026 advert notice gives weights or grade points. The 2025/2026 advert notice did refer to a separate screening score with a 160 threshold, but it did not say how that score is worked out.

Several Nigerian education blogs describe the same method, and it is the one you will see most often: 60% of your UTME score plus 40% of an O’level score built from four relevant subjects, where A1 = 100, B2 = 90, B3 = 80, C4 = 70, C5 = 60 and C6 = 50. Treat the example below as an illustration of that blog method. It is not an official UNN formula.

StepWorking
UTME score248
O’level: BiologyB2 = 90
O’level: ChemistryB3 = 80
O’level: PhysicsC4 = 70
O’level: MathematicsB3 = 80
O’level total (out of 400)320
60% of UTME248 × 0.6 = 148.8
40% of O’level320 × 0.4 = 128
Aggregate (out of 400)148.8 + 128 = 276.8

So a candidate with 248 in the UTME and those grades lands at about 277 out of 400 on the blog method. Raise Physics from C4 to A1 and the aggregate rises by 12 points, the same effect as about 20 extra UTME marks.

How competitive is Medical Rehabilitation at UNN?

Physiotherapy draws from the same pool as Medicine, Nursing and Radiography, and the class size is small compared with general science courses. UNN’s programme is also one of the older ones in the country: the department was initiated in the 1983/85 session and admitted its first students in 1987/88. The Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy has reported that the programme received full accreditation.

My advice (not a UNN figure): aim for a UTME score of 250 or more for a reasonable chance on merit, and 260 or more if your O’level grades are mostly C4 to C6. A South-East candidate with strong grades may get in lower through the catchment list, but you cannot see that list in advance.

If you are in the 200s, keep a backup in mind. Medical Laboratory Science and Medical Radiography at UNN use the same subjects. Human Kinetics and Health Education, in UNN’s Faculty of Education, is the nearest course on exercise and the body outside the health faculty, though it does not lead to a physiotherapy licence.

Merit, catchment and ELDS for Medical Rehabilitation at UNN

UNN is a federal university, so it works under the federal admission guideline that is widely reported as 45% merit, 35% catchment and 20% educationally less developed states (ELDS). UNN has not published its own split for any course, so read that as the national policy rather than a UNN figure.

  • Merit: the top scorers in the course, from any state, fill this list first. It is where the highest cut-off sits.
  • Catchment: UNN has not published its catchment list. It is generally understood to be the South-East states; confirm on JAMB CAPS or with the UNN admissions office before you count on it.
  • ELDS: this is a federal designation. UNN does not publish its own ELDS list, and I would not rely on any blog that names states “for UNN”.
  • State of origin: the state on your JAMB profile is what counts, and UNN asks for an LGA identification letter as proof during screening.

For a small professional class, the catchment and ELDS share can be only a handful of places. Do not assume your state guarantees you a seat; score as if you are competing on merit.

Step by step: from JAMB profile to resuming for Medical Rehabilitation at UNN

Deadline

JAMB told public universities to conclude 2026 admissions on or before 31 October 2026, and candidates have four weeks to accept an offer on CAPS or risk losing it. If UNN has offered you a place, accept it on CAPS now.

  1. Get or recover your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN (for example, NIN 12345678901) to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN. JAMB replies with your profile code, which you need for registration and other JAMB services.
  2. Make UNN your first choice: UNN screens only candidates who chose it first. If you are planning for 2027, choose UNN and the exact course at registration so you do not pay for a change of institution later.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result has to show on your JAMB profile. For 2026/2027 UNN asked for the upload to CAPS and the UNN portal by 5 August 2026. A JAMB-accredited CBT centre can do the CAPS upload if you cannot.
  4. Register for UNN screening: when the next notice comes out, fill the form on unnportal.unn.edu.ng, pay through Remita and print your acknowledgement slip.
  5. Check CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, click Check Admission Status, then Access My CAPS and Admission Status. On a phone, switch your browser to desktop view first.
  6. Accept or reject: read the course name, then click Accept. If you see a Transfer Approval, UNN is offering you a different course, and you must respond to that first.
  7. Print your JAMB admission letter and pay acceptance: after CAPS, pay UNN’s acceptance fee on the UNN portal. Blogs report it as ₦25,000, but I could not find an official 2026/2027 figure, so confirm the amount on the portal itself before you pay.
  8. Clearance: follow the faculty’s clearance instructions with your original documents. Nobody can “secure” a place for you on CAPS for money.

UNN’s homepage already carries 2026/2027 notices for its primary admission list, its Direct Entry list and lists for candidates with disabilities and foreign candidates, and Myschool reported on 25 October 2026 that the list is checkable on CAPS. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains every status message you may see.

What you study in Medical Rehabilitation at UNN

Medical Rehabilitation at UNN is the physiotherapy degree. The department describes it as a five-year generic programme leading to the Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation (B.M.R.). Its curriculum was drafted in 1984 by experts from the Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy and other specialties, in consultation with the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Board, which regulates the profession, and was approved by the College of Medicine’s academic board and ratified by the UNN Senate.

  • Basic medical sciences: anatomy, physiology and biochemistry, often taught alongside other health students.
  • Movement science: biomechanics, kinesiology and exercise physiology.
  • Physiotherapy practice: electrotherapy, therapeutic exercise and manual therapy.
  • Clinical areas: orthopaedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, paediatric and sports physiotherapy, with hospital postings in the clinical years.

Common mistakes Medical Rehabilitation applicants make

  • Looking for a Direct Entry form: UNN does not admit physiotherapy through Direct Entry.
  • Searching for “Physiotherapy” on the JAMB form: at UNN the course is listed as Medical Rehabilitation. Pick the right name at registration.
  • Ignoring Physics: it is a UTME subject and an O’level credit for this course.
  • Assuming 200 is safe: 200 was UNN’s declared benchmark; competitive courses go far higher.
  • Leaving O’level off CAPS: UNN cannot offer you a place on results JAMB cannot see.

UNN Medical Rehabilitation cut off mark: frequently asked questions

Is Medical Rehabilitation the same as Physiotherapy in UNN? Yes. UNN’s department describes Medical Rehabilitation as its physiotherapy programme, leading to the Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation (B.M.R.) degree.

Is 240 enough for Medical Rehabilitation in UNN? It clears the 160 minimum, so you can be screened. It is a little below the 250 or more I would aim for, so strong O’level grades or a catchment-state place would need to make up the difference.

Can I get Direct Entry into Medical Rehabilitation at UNN? No. Both UNN’s Faculty of Health Sciences and the JAMB brochure say UNN admits this course through UTME only.

How many years is Medical Rehabilitation in UNN? Five years. The department describes the B.M.R. as a five-year programme.

Sources and updates

The 160 minimum, screening dates, fees, eligibility and portal steps come from the UNN Registrar’s notice 2026/2027 Screening Exercise for Admission of 13 July 2026. The reported 200 comes from Vanguard’s 11 May 2026 coverage of the JAMB policy meeting (via AllAfrica), and the national 150 minimum, 31 October deadline and four-week acceptance window from the News Agency of Nigeria. The 2025/2026 figure of 160 comes from reprints of UNN’s October 2025 advert notice. The UTME-only route and O’level credits come from the UNN Faculty of Health Sciences admission page, and the degree, duration and history from the department’s history page on the same site. UNN’s brochure remarks are from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure. The accreditation report is from the Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy’s website. The aggregate method is a blog method, and the ₦25,000 acceptance fee an unofficial report. Checked on 29 October 2026.
