NOUN Enugu Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Programmes Admission Requirements 2027/2028

NOUN runs B.Sc Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Cooperative and Rural Development with no UTME cut-off. Marketing needs English, Mathematics and Economics credits. Requirements, courses, fees and how to apply through Enugu.

NOUN Marketing and Entrepreneurship admission requirements start from the same base: five O’level credits including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings, with no JAMB cut-off mark. B.Sc Marketing adds a compulsory credit in Economics. The National Open University of Nigeria runs three separate degrees in this group, B.Sc Marketing, B.Sc Entrepreneurship and B.Sc Cooperative and Rural Development, and each one is applied for on its own through the online portal.

2027/2028 update: NOUN admission requirements and entry rules usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the requirements on this page are what 2027/2028 applicants should plan with. They come from NOUN’s latest published requirements and notices (checked in October 2026). If NOUN changes anything for 2027/2028, we will update this page.

NOUN’s Faculty of Management Sciences publishes full entry rules for Marketing. For Entrepreneurship and Cooperative and Rural Development, the programme pages list courses but leave out the entry rules, so this guide gives NOUN’s general requirement for those two and tells you how to confirm yours on the portal. You will also find what each degree covers, Direct Entry routes, fees and the steps to apply with Enugu as your study centre.

The three programmes in this group

These are three degrees, so pick one on the application form. Marketing sits in its own department. Entrepreneurship and Cooperative and Rural Development belong to the Department of Entrepreneurial Studies and Cooperatives Management.

ProgrammeDepartmentNUC status (Nov 2024)Entry rules published?
B.Sc Marketing (code 3208)MarketingFullYes, on the programme page
B.Sc EntrepreneurshipEntrepreneurial Studies and Cooperatives ManagementFullNo; use NOUN’s general rule and View Requirement
B.Sc Cooperative and Rural DevelopmentEntrepreneurial Studies and Cooperatives ManagementFullNo; use NOUN’s general rule and View Requirement

The department’s page also lists a B.Sc Entrepreneurship and Business Management. Its own page carries no details, it is not in NOUN’s November 2024 accreditation document, and NOUN has not said whether it replaces B.Sc Entrepreneurship. If you see it on the application form, ask the faculty about its accreditation status before you choose it over B.Sc Entrepreneurship.

Is there a NOUN cut-off mark for Marketing or Entrepreneurship?

No. NOUN does not set a UTME cut-off mark for Marketing or Entrepreneurship or for any other undergraduate programme. Its official Admission Requirements page describes O’level requirements and an automated online application, and a JAMB score is not part of it. Any “NOUN Marketing or Entrepreneurship cut-off mark” you see on a blog was not published by the university.

Two things decide whether you get in:

  • Your O’level result: the right five credits, in not more than two sittings.
  • Your Direct Entry qualification, if you have one: it decides whether you start at 100 level or higher.

That also means there is no post-UTME, no screening test and no aggregate score to calculate. If your grades match the requirement, the portal admits you.

What about JAMB and CAPS?

NOUN’s admission page does not ask for a UTME score, and you do not choose NOUN on a UTME form to be considered. JAMB is still part of the picture after admission: NOUN’s fees schedule lists a ₦6,000 JAMB regularisation charge for new students. NOUN has not published step-by-step instructions for that regularisation, so follow what the university tells you after admission and keep the receipt. If you already have a JAMB profile from an earlier UTME, keep its email and registration number handy; it may help when your record is regularised.

NOUN Marketing admission requirements

Marketing has the clearest rules of the three. The B.Sc Marketing page says the programme started in the 2014/2015 session and sets these requirements:

Entry levelRequirement
100 levelAt least five credits at WAEC/SSCE or NECO, including English, Mathematics and Economics, in not more than two sittings
200 level: A levelFive credit passes in GCE or equivalent with at least two at Advanced level, or four credit passes with at least three at Advanced level; a subject cannot count at both levels
200 level: ONDOND in a relevant discipline at Upper Credit, plus five O’level credits
200 level: HNDHND in a relevant discipline at Lower Credit, plus five O’level credits
200 level: professional certificateFinal certificate of a relevant professional body, plus five O’level credits

In every Direct Entry route the O’level credits must include English Language and Mathematics. The two remaining 100-level subjects are your choice; Commerce, Financial Accounting, Government or Civic Education suit the course.

Is NOUN Marketing fully accredited?

The Marketing page still says the programme is running “while waiting for full accreditation”. That line is old. NOUN’s own Programmes and Accreditation Status document of November 2024 lists B.Sc Marketing with full NUC accreditation, and that is the more recent official record.

NOUN Entrepreneurship and Cooperative and Rural Development requirements

The B.Sc Entrepreneurship and B.Sc Cooperative and Rural Development pages on the faculty site list courses only. Until the faculty adds entry rules, NOUN’s general undergraduate requirement is the one to plan with:

Entry levelNOUN’s general rule (NOUN News, 8 August 2024)
100 levelFive O’level credits in relevant subjects, in not more than two sittings; English Language and Mathematics are compulsory for every faculty
200 level (Direct Entry)Five relevant O’level credits including English and Mathematics, plus one of: an ND at Upper Credit, an NCE (one merit and two passes) in a relevant subject, or IJMB/IB with two relevant A level papers

For these two programmes, my advice is to apply with a credit in Economics or Commerce among your five, together with English and Mathematics. The general rule asks for subjects relevant to the programme, and the first-year courses lean on economics. For Cooperative and Rural Development, a credit in Agricultural Science also fits, because the programme includes Nigerian Agriculture (CRD122) and rural finance. NOUN has not published those subject lists, so the only firm check is the portal: select the programme and your entry level and click View Requirement.

Before you pay, open the application page, pick the programme and entry level and click View Requirement. NOUN’s faculty pages and its central portal are maintained separately, so if they ever disagree, follow what the portal shows for your entry level.

Worked example: which of the three fits you?

These are my illustrations based on the published rules, not NOUN decisions.

How to apply for Marketing, Entrepreneurship or Cooperative and Rural Development at NOUN, step by step

The whole process happens online. You do not travel to Abuja, and you do not need to visit the Enugu centre before you are admitted.

  1. Get your documents ready: O’level result(s), birth certificate or age declaration, a recent passport photograph and, for Direct Entry, your diploma, degree or professional certificate and transcript. Scan them clearly.
  2. Open the admission page: go to NOUN’s Admission Requirements page on nou.edu.ng and choose the undergraduate application.
  3. Select the programme: pick the faculty, then Marketing, Entrepreneurship or Cooperative and Rural Development, then your entry level, and click View Requirement. Read the requirement that appears before you go further.
  4. Pick the right degree and level: choose one of the three programmes, then 100 level with O’level only or 200 level with a qualifying diploma, A level or professional certificate.
  5. Fill the pre-payment form: enter your names exactly as they appear on your O’level result, plus a working email address and phone number.
  6. Generate a Remita RRR and pay: pay the ₦5,000 form fee by card, or take the RRR to a bank.
  7. Complete the application form: enter your O’level grades, upload your documents and choose Enugu Study Centre as your study centre.
  8. Check the outcome: NOUN describes its admission process as automated, with an almost instant outcome. Print the admission letter once it shows.
  9. Pay the compulsory charges and register courses: pay the new-student charges, then register your first semester courses and examinations within the window in the academic calendar.

Write down your application number and the email address you used, and keep the Remita receipt. Most problems at the study centre later come from a lost RRR or a mismatch between the name on the form and the name on the O’level certificate.

What you study in NOUN Marketing

NOUN says the programme should give you theory and practice across the branches of marketing, including research, e-commerce and the business environment in Nigeria and abroad. Sample courses from the faculty page:

LevelSample courses
100 levelIntroduction to Marketing (MKT108), Retail Management (MKT104), Elements of Banking (BFN104), Principles of Economics I and II
200 levelElements of Marketing (MKT201), Entrepreneurial Marketing (MKT205), Customer Relationship Management (MKT206), Marketing in Practice (MKT210)
300 levelConsumer Behaviour (MKT303), Events Management (MKT309), Distribution and Sales Management (MKT306), Promotion (MKT308)
400 levelMarketing Management (MKT401), Marketing Research (MKT403), Marketing for Cooperatives (MKT411), Marketing of Financial Services (MKT402), Research Project (MKT450)

Marketing in Practice is the hands-on course, built around visits to marketing firms, trade fairs and markets. The final project is a dissertation of 10,000 to 15,000 words on a topic approved at the end of 300 level. The page does not list SIWES for Marketing.

Duration and credit units for Marketing

  • Duration: minimum four years (eight semesters), maximum eight years (sixteen semesters).
  • To graduate: 120 credit units from 100 level or 90 by Direct Entry, not counting GST courses.

What you study in NOUN Entrepreneurship

The Entrepreneurship course list starts with Introduction to Entrepreneurship (ENT101) and moves through financing, planning and growth. Examples from the faculty page:

  • Starting and funding a business: Introduction to Entrepreneurial Financing (ENT203), Basic Financial Literacy (BFN203), Feasibilities and Business Planning (ENT302).
  • Selling: Entrepreneurial Marketing (MKT205).
  • Ideas and growth: Management of Creativity and Innovation (ENT402), Seminar in Enterprise (ENT412).
  • Practice: Industrial Learning and Tour (ENT312), which covers industry training and study tours, and Measuring Organizational Success (ENT306), which involves supervised attachment.
  • Final year: Research Project (ENT450, 6 units).

The page does not state the duration or credit total. NOUN’s other B.Sc programmes in the faculty run for four to eight years, but confirm the figure for Entrepreneurship in the programme handbook or on your portal.

What you study in NOUN Cooperative and Rural Development

This degree prepares you to run and advise cooperative societies and to work on rural development. It is the closest NOUN programme to the Cooperative Economics and Management course offered at conventional universities. Courses on the faculty page include:

AreaSample courses
Cooperative principlesPrinciples and Practice of Cooperative (CRD101), Introduction to Cooperatives (CRD124), Sociology of Co-operation (CRD120), Comparative Co-operatives (CRD403)
Economics and financeEconomics for Co-operatives (CRD206), Rural Finance (CRD303)
Rural developmentNigerian Agriculture (CRD122), Rural Development (CRD305), Rural Development Strategies (CRD324), Cooperative Extension (CRD430)
Practice and researchIT/SIWES Practical Field Work Experience (CRD330, 3 units), Research Project (CRD450, 6 units)

CRD330 is a real field placement. The page recommends three months of practical work with a cooperative group in a rural setting during the long vacation before your final year, ending with a written report. If you live in Enugu, a farmers’ or traders’ cooperative near you could host it, which saves travel.

Careers after these degrees

DegreeWhere graduates work
MarketingSales, brand and product roles, advertising and digital marketing, market research, retail and distribution, financial services marketing
EntrepreneurshipRunning your own business, small business advisory work, enterprise development programmes, family business management
Cooperative and Rural DevelopmentCooperative societies and unions, government cooperative departments, microfinance, agricultural and rural development projects

Many NOUN students in these programmes already run a shop or work in sales. If that is you, Entrepreneurship or Marketing lets you apply the coursework to your own business as you go, and NOUN’s eight-year maximum leaves room for a busy trading year.

NOUN form price and fees for Marketing and Entrepreneurship applicants

The undergraduate application form costs ₦5,000, paid through Remita. That is the figure in NOUN’s own admission requirements notice of 8 August 2024, and it is the most recent official figure I could find. Postgraduate forms cost more, so make sure you start the undergraduate application.

After admission you pay a set of compulsory charges. NOUN’s fees schedule page (undated) lists them like this:

ChargeNew studentsReturning students
Registration₦6,000₦6,000
Caution deposit₦3,500None
Orientation₦1,500None
Matriculation₦1,500None
ID card₦500None
Library₦3,000₦3,000
ICT administrative charges₦5,000₦5,000
E-facilitation₦4,000₦4,000
JAMB regularisation₦6,000None
Result verification₦5,000None
Total compulsory charges₦36,000₦18,000

On top of these, the same page lists an examination fee of ₦1,000 per course and a project fee of ₦15,000 in the final year. Course registration is charged per course, and the page says those fees remain unchanged, but it does not print the per-course amounts. Your semester bill therefore depends on how many courses you register. Open your portal’s payment page to see the real figure before you budget, because NOUN has not published a 2026/2027 per-course table that I could verify.

When does NOUN admit? 2026/2027 dates

NOUN does not follow the JAMB admission deadlines that apply to conventional universities. It runs its own calendar in two semesters a year, labelled like 2026_1 and 2026_2.

ItemDateSource
Admission portal for 2026Open from 1 January to 31 December 2026NOUN’s approved 2026 academic calendar, as reported by Myschool

So, on the published calendar, the 2026 admission portal stays open until 31 December 2026. Because the outcome of an application is almost instant, people who apply now can usually be admitted and then register for the semester that is open on the calendar. NOUN has not published its 2027 calendar yet, so 2027/2028 applicants should watch nou.edu.ng and the portal from January 2027.

The NOUN Enugu Study Centre: what it does for Marketing and Entrepreneurship students

NOUN admits centrally from its headquarters in Jabi, Abuja. The study centre is where you are attached for support: student records, facilitation, examinations, project defence and, at the end, certificate collection. When you apply, you pick Enugu as your study centre on the form.

  • Leadership: NOUN News named Prof. Charity Akuadi Okonkwo as Director of the Enugu Study Centre when it reported an NUC accreditation visit to the centre on 26 November 2024.
  • Examinations: the same report said the centre had 297 computers in its e-examination hall.
  • Certificates: in July 2025 the centre told its graduands to collect certificates at the Centre Director’s office, with proof of final clearance, convocation and alumni fee payments, a bound project copy and a valid ID (reported by Myschool, 11 July 2025).
  • Address: NOUN does not publish the street address in the sources I checked. Confirm it on the study centres directory on nou.edu.ng before you travel, and do not rely on addresses copied around on blogs.

NOUN also does not publish which programmes each study centre supports. Being admitted into Marketing and Entrepreneurship and choosing Enugu should place you there, but if you need clinical placement, practical sessions or a project supervisor in Enugu, ask the centre to confirm it in writing before you pay registration fees.

Mistakes to avoid

  • No Economics for Marketing: it is compulsory on the Marketing page.
  • Choosing the wrong degree: the three are separate programmes; changing later means a formal change of programme.
  • Trusting the old accreditation line: the Marketing page’s “waiting for full accreditation” note predates NOUN’s November 2024 record of full accreditation.
  • Assuming the newer Entrepreneurship and Business Management degree is accredited: it is not in the November 2024 document; ask first.
  • Skipping View Requirement: it is the only published entry rule for Entrepreneurship and Cooperative and Rural Development.
