Gregory University Quantity Surveying Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

Gregory University has no separate Quantity Surveying cut-off; JAMB’s 150 floor now applies. See a safe target score, JAMB subjects, O’level rules, Direct Entry, screening and the accreditation question.

The Gregory University Quantity Surveying cut off mark is not published as a separate figure. Gregory set 140 as the general minimum UTME score in its 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 notices, but JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities is 150, so treat 150 as the floor and aim for about 170 or more. Quantity Surveying is on JAMB’s list of Gregory courses under that name, so register it as Quantity Surveying.

2027/2028 update: Gregory University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest notices Gregory has published (2024/2025 and 2025/2026) and JAMB’s 2026 national minimum, because no 2026/2027 Gregory notice with a score was available. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Accreditation, said plainly: I found no NUC accreditation result for Gregory’s Quantity Surveying. NUC’s per-programme report pages carry Gregory results from its late 2024 visits for Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Insurance, International Relations, Medical Laboratory Science, English and Health Education, all full. None is for Quantity Surveying, and NUC’s 1990 to 2025 results publication could not be read as far as Gregory’s entry. I also found no public record of its status with the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN). Ask Gregory for both before paying. If you want related programmes with published NUC results in Abia, ABSU’s Building (full, maturity 2028) and Estate Management (full, maturity 2026) are on NUC’s list, and at Gregory you can compare Architecture.

Gregory has never published a separate figure for Quantity Surveying. The 140 applied to every course in both notices. Because JAMB raised the floor for universities to 150 at its May 2026 policy meeting, a Gregory notice cannot admit anyone below 150 for 2026 admissions, and I would not expect the 2027 floor to drop back. Plan with 150 as the line you must cross, and treat anything above it as your margin for the course itself.

Safe target score for Quantity Surveying at Gregory (my advice)

Quantity Surveying draws fewer applicants than Architecture or engineering at most Nigerian universities, so the competition is usually lighter. This table is my judgement, not a Gregory rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Gregory Quantity Surveying
Below 150Not eligible in the 2026 cycle
150 to 159Eligible; your O’level grades will decide a lot
160 to 169Possible

UTME subject combination and O’level for Gregory Quantity Surveying

RequirementQuantity Surveying
UTME subjectsUse of English, Physics, Mathematics, plus one of Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology or Economics
O’level coreFive credits: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and one more relevant subject
Fifth subject optionsFine Art, Geography, Wood Work, Biology, Economics, Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Introduction to Building Construction, or listed building trade subjects
SittingsNot more than two (Gregory’s 2025/2026 notice)
Direct EntryTwo A level passes from Mathematics or Physics and Chemistry, Geography or Fine Arts; or ND/HND upper credit in a relevant field
Gregory-specific remarkNone in the brochure reprint

These rules come from the JAMB brochure entry for Quantity Surveying as reprinted by Myschool. The page has remarks for ABU, FUTO, UNILAG, OAU and others, but not for Gregory. Economics is a sensible fourth UTME subject for this course because cost planning and construction economics are a large part of the degree, but Chemistry, Geography, Art and Biology are all accepted too.

For Direct Entry, Gregory has not published its own rules for Quantity Surveying. An ND or HND in Quantity Surveying or Building Technology is the usual route at other universities; confirm with Gregory that it accepts yours before you register for DE.

How Gregory University screening works for Quantity Surveying

Gregory runs an online post-UTME registration. The details below come from the university’s 2024 notice and the 2025/2026 notice as reprinted by Myschool. Gregory had not published 2026/2027 dates or a fee in any source I could reach, so treat the fee as last year’s figure.

Worked example for a Quantity Surveying candidate

Gregory has not published how it ranks candidates, so there is no official aggregate to calculate. What you can work out is how far your UTME score sits above JAMB’s floor and above a sensible target, and whether your O’level meets the course rules. The method below is my illustration, not a Gregory formula.

Take Kelechi, who scored 176 with English, Physics, Mathematics and Economics in the UTME, and has B3 in Mathematics, C4 in Physics, C5 in Chemistry, B3 in Economics and C4 in English from two sittings.

  1. National floor: 176 minus 150 = 26.
  2. Against my safe target: 176 minus 170 = 6. He is in the competitive band.
  3. O’level check: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Economics, in two sittings. That meets the general rule and Gregory’s two-sitting limit.
  4. What I would advise: register on the portal and upload both results on CAPS.

Adaeze scored 153. 153 minus 150 = 3. She is eligible, but only just, and she should be ready to accept a related course if Gregory offers one through CAPS.

How to apply for Quantity Surveying at Gregory University, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: pick Quantity Surveying as the course and Use of English, Physics, Mathematics and one of Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology or Economics as your subjects, with Gregory University, Uturu as your first choice.
  3. Fix your choice if needed: if Gregory was not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before you register for screening. The 2025/2026 notice was for candidates who chose Gregory first.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre, once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. Universities cannot recommend you on CAPS without it.
  5. Register for screening: on the Gregory post-UTME portal, fill the form, upload your passport photograph (PDF), UTME result and O’level result, then pay the screening fee online.
  6. Watch CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and then Access my CAPS. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Accept on CAPS: accept the offer, print your JAMB admission letter, then follow Gregory’s instructions for the acceptance fee and clearance. Gregory has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached, so confirm the amount on the official portal before paying.

Warning

Gregory University says applicants should pay only through its official portals and that it has no authorised agents. Every genuine admission shows on JAMB CAPS, so ignore anyone selling a “slot” or a “special list”.

For the 2026/2027 cycle, JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the admission deadline for private universities, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). JAMB also stated that admissions done outside CAPS are illegal. Gregory’s phone lines on its 2024 admission notice were 0806 094 4681 and 0803 733 3920.

Studying Quantity Surveying at Gregory University

Gregory University is a private university licensed in 2012 and sited at Amaokwe Achara, Uturu, in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State. Its founder is Prof. Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe. The university lists twelve colleges and says it runs over 55 programmes.

Quantity Surveying is in Gregory’s College of Environmental Sciences. Gregory has not published the degree title or duration; Quantity Surveying degrees in Nigeria run for four or five years depending on the university.

What you study

  • Measurement: taking off quantities from drawings and preparing bills of quantities.
  • Cost work: estimating, cost planning, cost control and valuation of construction work.
  • Construction knowledge: building technology, materials, structures and services.
  • Contracts and practice: contract law, procurement, project management and professional practice.

Accreditation and professional registration

Quantity surveyors in Nigeria register with QSRBN, and the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) is the professional body. I could not confirm Gregory’s NUC or QSRBN status, so ask for both letters and ask whether the programme has graduated a class.

Careers

  • Quantity surveying and cost consultancy firms
  • Construction companies (contractor’s quantity surveyor)
  • Government ministries and agencies that handle public works and procurement
  • Banks and property developers (project cost and valuation roles)

If Economics is your fourth UTME subject, use our JAMB Economics syllabus to plan revision.

Mistakes that cost Quantity Surveying applicants

  • Planning with 140: JAMB’s 150 floor applies now.
  • Dropping Physics or Mathematics in the UTME: both are compulsory for this course.
  • No Chemistry credit: it is in the general O’level core and Gregory has no waiver.
  • Gregory not as first choice: fix it with a change of institution before screening.
  • Skipping the accreditation question: ask about NUC and QSRBN before paying fees.

Gregory University Quantity Surveying cut off mark: FAQs
