Gregory University Cut-Off Mark for Architecture 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

Gregory University has no separate Architecture cut-off; JAMB’s 150 floor now applies. See a safe target score, the exact JAMB subjects, the O’level Chemistry rule, screening and the accreditation question.

The Gregory University cut off mark for Architecture is not published as a separate figure. Gregory used 140 as its general minimum UTME score in 2024/2025 and 2025/2026, but JAMB’s minimum for universities in 2026 is 150, so 150 is the real floor. For Architecture I would aim for 180 or more. Architecture is on JAMB’s list of Gregory courses under that exact name, so register it as Architecture.

2027/2028 update: Gregory University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest notices Gregory has published (2024/2025 and 2025/2026) and JAMB’s 2026 national minimum, because no 2026/2027 Gregory notice with a score was available. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Accreditation, said plainly: I found no NUC accreditation result for Gregory’s Architecture programme. NUC’s per-programme report pages carry Gregory results from its late 2024 visits for Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Insurance, International Relations, Medical Laboratory Science, English and Health Education, all full. None is for Architecture, and NUC’s 1990 to 2025 results publication could not be read as far as Gregory’s entry. I also found no public ARCON record for it. Ask Gregory for both before you pay. If you want a nearby programme with a published NUC result, Abia State University’s Architecture shows full accreditation as its latest result (maturity 2026, after earlier interim and denied results), and at Gregory you can look at Quantity Surveying.

Gregory has never published a separate figure for Architecture. The 140 applied to every course in both notices. Because JAMB raised the floor for universities to 150 at its May 2026 policy meeting, a Gregory notice cannot admit anyone below 150 for 2026 admissions, and I would not expect the 2027 floor to drop back. Plan with 150 as the line you must cross, and treat anything above it as your margin for the course itself.

Safe target score for Architecture at Gregory (my advice)

Architecture classes are kept small because studio teaching needs space and staff, so even at a private university the course fills before general courses do. This table is my judgement, not a Gregory rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Gregory Architecture
Below 150Not eligible for university admission in the 2026 cycle
150 to 164Eligible, but a related course offer is likely
165 to 179Possible with strong Mathematics and Physics credits
180 to 199Competitive
200 and aboveStrong. This is what I would aim for.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Gregory Architecture

RequirementArchitecture
UTME subjectsUse of English, Physics, Mathematics, plus one of Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology or Economics
O’level coreFive credits: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and one more from the list below
Fifth subject optionsFine Art, Geography, Wood Work, Biology, Economics, Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Introduction to Building Construction, or listed trade subjects such as Joinery, Carpentry, Graphics Design and Basic Electricity
SittingsNot more than two (Gregory’s 2025/2026 notice)
Direct EntryTwo A level passes from Mathematics or Physics and Chemistry, Geography or Fine Arts; or ND/HND upper credit in a relevant field
Gregory-specific remarkNone in the brochure reprint

These rules come from the JAMB brochure entry for Architecture as reprinted by Myschool. Candidates often miss two details. First, Technical Drawing is not in the UTME list for Architecture, even though many candidates assume it is; it counts only at O’level. Second, the brochure’s O’level core includes Chemistry. A few universities, such as ABSU, have a remark saying Chemistry is not compulsory, but Gregory has no such remark, so plan to have a Chemistry credit.

Many architecture schools ask for a drawing test or portfolio. Gregory has not mentioned one in any notice I found, but keeping a few freehand sketches and drawings ready costs you nothing.

How Gregory University screening works for Architecture

Gregory runs an online post-UTME registration. The details below come from the university’s 2024 notice and the 2025/2026 notice as reprinted by Myschool. Gregory had not published 2026/2027 dates or a fee in any source I could reach, so treat the fee as last year’s figure.

Worked example for an Architecture candidate

Gregory has not published how it ranks candidates, so there is no official aggregate to calculate. What you can work out is how far your UTME score sits above JAMB’s floor and above a sensible target, and whether your O’level meets the course rules. The method below is my illustration, not a Gregory formula.

Take Chiamaka, who scored 186 with B3 in English, B2 in Mathematics, B3 in Physics, C4 in Chemistry and B2 in Fine Art from one sitting. Her UTME subjects were English, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.

  1. National floor: 186 minus 150 = 36.
  2. Against my safe target: 186 minus 180 = 6. She is in the competitive band.
  3. O’level check: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Fine Art. All five required credits are there.
  4. What I would advise: register early on the portal, and prepare a small portfolio in case the department asks for one.

Tobenna scored 171 and used Economics as his fourth UTME subject, but he has no Chemistry credit. His score is workable; the missing Chemistry is the real problem under the general brochure rule, and he should ask Gregory before paying for screening.

How to apply for Architecture at Gregory University, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: pick Architecture as the course and Use of English, Physics, Mathematics and one of Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology or Economics as your subjects, with Gregory University, Uturu as your first choice.
  3. Fix your choice if needed: if Gregory was not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before you register for screening. The 2025/2026 notice was for candidates who chose Gregory first.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre, once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. Universities cannot recommend you on CAPS without it.
  5. Register for screening: on the Gregory post-UTME portal, fill the form, upload your passport photograph (PDF), UTME result and O’level result, then pay the screening fee online.
  6. Watch CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and then Access my CAPS. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Accept on CAPS: accept the offer, print your JAMB admission letter, then follow Gregory’s instructions for the acceptance fee and clearance. Gregory has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached, so confirm the amount on the official portal before paying.

Warning

Gregory University says applicants should pay only through its official portals and that it has no authorised agents. Every genuine admission shows on JAMB CAPS, so ignore anyone selling a “slot” or a “special list”.

For the 2026/2027 cycle, JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the admission deadline for private universities, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). JAMB also stated that admissions done outside CAPS are illegal. Gregory’s phone lines on its 2024 admission notice were 0806 094 4681 and 0803 733 3920.

Studying Architecture at Gregory University

Gregory University is a private university licensed in 2012 and sited at Amaokwe Achara, Uturu, in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State. Its founder is Prof. Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe. The university lists twelve colleges and says it runs over 55 programmes.

Architecture is in Gregory’s College of Environmental Sciences, alongside Quantity Surveying and Geology among the courses we cover. Gregory has not published the degree title or duration. In Nigeria the first architecture degree is usually a four-year B.Sc, followed by a two-year master’s degree for those who want to qualify as architects.

What you study

  • Design studio: the centre of the course, where you design buildings from small houses up to complex public buildings.
  • Drawing and communication: freehand drawing, technical drawing and computer-aided design.
  • Building science: construction, structures, materials, environmental control and services.
  • History and theory: architectural history, theory and professional practice.

Accreditation and professional registration

To practise as an architect in Nigeria you register with the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) after the professional route. That makes the programme’s ARCON and NUC status more than a formality. I could not confirm either for Gregory, so ask for the letters and ask whether Gregory runs the master’s stage or whether you would move elsewhere after the B.Sc.

Careers

  • Architectural practices and design firms
  • Construction companies and property developers
  • Government works and planning departments
  • Interior design, visualisation and urban design

If you are thinking of switching between Architecture and a related course after your result, read JAMB change of course first.

Mistakes that cost Architecture applicants

  • Putting Technical Drawing in the UTME: it is not in JAMB’s UTME list for Architecture.
  • No Chemistry credit: it is in the general O’level core, and Gregory has no waiver remark.
  • Planning with 140: JAMB’s 150 floor now applies.
  • Skipping the CAPS upload: without your O’level on CAPS you cannot be recommended.
  • Not asking about ARCON: check professional accreditation before paying school fees.

Gregory University cut off mark for Architecture: FAQs

What is the cut off mark for Architecture in Gregory University? Gregory has no separate Architecture figure. It used 140 for all courses in its last two notices, but JAMB’s 2026 university floor is 150, so you need at least 150 and ideally 180 or more.

Can I study Architecture at Gregory without Chemistry? In the UTME, yes: your fourth subject can be Geography, Art, Biology or Economics. At O’level, the general rule includes a Chemistry credit and Gregory has no waiver, so confirm with the university if you lack it.

Is Technical Drawing accepted for Architecture in JAMB? Not as a UTME subject. The brochure lists Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology or Economics as the fourth subject; Technical Drawing counts only at O’level.

Is Gregory University Architecture accredited? I found no NUC or ARCON result for it. Ask Gregory for its accreditation letters before paying fees.

The 150 national minimum for universities and the 30 November 2026 deadline for private universities come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). The course name is from JAMB’s list of Gregory courses as reprinted by Myschool. The subject and Direct Entry rules are from the JAMB brochure entry for Architecture (Myschool reprint), which has no Gregory remark. NUC report pages for Gregory and the NUC Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 publication were checked; no result for Gregory Architecture was found. ABSU’s Architecture status is from the same NUC publication. The no-agents warning and the university’s founding details come from Gregory’s official website. Safe target scores and worked examples are my own advice, not Gregory figures. Checked on 29 October 2026; this page will be updated when Gregory publishes its 2027/2028 notice.
