FCE Eha-Amufu has no UTME cut-off mark for French Education (NCE) in 2026/2027. Under the admission policy agreed on 11 May 2026, NCE applicants with at least four O’level credits are exempt from the UTME, but they must register with JAMB and receive their offer through CAPS. Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu has not published a separate figure for French or any French combination.
2027/2028 update: FCE Eha-Amufu admission requirements and the NCE entry route usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the rules on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official position (the 2026/2027 national admission policy) and the college’s most recent advert we could trace. If the 2027/2028 rules change anything, we will update this page.
For French, the question most applicants actually have is whether they need French at O’level, since many secondary schools never offered it. I deal with that below, along with the cut-off history, the four French pairings the college has been listed as running, screening with an illustrative example, the CAPS steps and the programme itself. I could not reach an official 2026/2027 course list for the college, so confirm that French is taking students this session before you pay.
FCE Eha-Amufu cut-off mark for French Education at a glance

|---|---|---|
| UTME score for NCE French | Not required with four or more O’level credits | Official national policy, 11 May 2026 |
| JAMB registration and CAPS | Required | Official national policy |
| College cut-off for French | Not published | No FCE Eha-Amufu figure found |
| French credit at O’level | Not stated by the college | Ask the admissions office |
| Admission deadline for colleges of education (2026/2027) | 31 December 2026 | Official (JAMB) |
| Programme length | 3 years regular | College advert, 2021/2022 |
FCE Eha-Amufu NCE cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | No UTME score needed | NCE candidates with at least four O’level credits are exempt from the UTME but must register with JAMB and be admitted through CAPS | Official national policy (2026 policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum UTME score for colleges of education | Official national figure (JAMB, July 2025) |
| 2021/2022 | 100 | Minimum UTME score in FCE Eha-Amufu’s NCE screening advert | College advert, as reprinted by Myschool (1 October 2021) |
| Undated blog figure | 100 or “110 and above” | Figures printed by a blog for candidates who chose the college | Unofficial; no college document cited |
The pattern is simple. The college used 100 when the UTME applied to NCE, and the 2026 policy removed the UTME step for credit holders without setting a new number for colleges of education. Treat any “2026 French cut-off of 100” as an old rule carried forward.
French combinations at FCE Eha-Amufu
Schoolings.org (2018, updated 2020) and O3schools (January 2026) list these French pairings. Neither is an official college list.
| Combination | Second teaching subject | Useful O’level subjects |
|---|---|---|
| English/French | English Language | French, Literature in English |
| French/Social Studies | Social Studies | French, Social Studies, Government or Civic Education |
| French/Igbo | Igbo | French, Igbo |
| French/Music | Music | French, Music |
The college has not published a subject list per pairing. The third column is my guide to the subjects that count as “relevant” under its two-relevant-credits rule. The English Education page and Igbo Education page cover the other half of those pairings.
Do you need French at O’level?
The three sources I found treat French differently.
| Source | What it says about French |
|---|---|
| FCE Eha-Amufu’s 2021/2022 advert | Four credits including English and Mathematics, two relevant to the course. French is not named |
| Myschool’s JAMB brochure reprint for English/French (degree level) | Five credits including English, Mathematics, French, Literature in English and another Arts subject |
| National policy, 2026 | At least four O’level credits for the UTME exemption. No subject list |
My reading: a French credit is not named by the college, but it is the clearest “relevant” subject for a French course, and it is what degree programmes ask for. If you have one, you are in the strongest position. If you do not, call the college before applying and ask whether it accepts French beginners for NCE. Some colleges do; I could not confirm FCE Eha-Amufu’s position.
Safe O’level target for French NCE (my advice)
| Your O’level profile | My read for NCE French at Eha-Amufu |
|---|---|
| No credit in English or Mathematics | Not eligible. Resit first |
| Four credits with English and Maths, no French | Meets the advert’s count; confirm whether the college takes French beginners |
| Four or five credits with English, Maths and a French credit | Strong |
| French credit plus Literature in English or Igbo, one sitting | The profile I would aim for |
This table is my judgement, not a college rule.
O’level and UTME subjects for French Education (NCE)
| Requirement | French Education at FCE Eha-Amufu |
|---|---|
| O’level (college advert) | Four credits in not more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics, two relevant to the course (2021/2022 advert; not re-confirmed) |
| Exams accepted | WAEC SSCE, NECO SSCE, GCE O’level |
| Other routes (advert) | Grade II Teacher’s Certificate with credit or merit in four subjects including English and Mathematics |
| UTME | Not needed for 2026/2027 with four credits; JAMB registration still needed |
| If you sit the UTME anyway | Myschool’s JAMB brochure reprint lists French, Literature in English and another Arts subject for English/French. Use of English is compulsory. Confirm on the JAMB e-brochure |
| Direct Entry | Not used for NCE entry |
If you plan to take French in the UTME, or later aim for a degree, our JAMB French syllabus shows the topics JAMB sets.
Short of credits?
FCE Eha-Amufu has advertised a Pre-NCE programme for candidates without enough credits. Its 2026/2027 details were not available. A GCE resit is the other option.
How FCE Eha-Amufu screens French applicants
Blog reprints of college adverts describe a portal process: create a profile, generate a Remita invoice and pay at a bank, upload a passport photograph, fill in your JAMB, O’level and birth certificate details, and print the acknowledgement slip. The adverts also say candidates must pass the college’s selection process. No 2026/2027 fee, dates or test format were published in any source I found.
| Detail | What we know |
|---|---|
| Screening fee | ₦2,000 in the 2021/2022 advert; current fee not published |
| Selection test | Required by the advert; format not published |
| Oral French test | Not mentioned in any source found |
| O’level on CAPS | Needed for NCE processing in 2026/2027 |
| Ranking formula | Not published |
Worked example (illustrative)
These candidates are invented. The check is against the college’s advert, since no formula is published.
Adaeze wants English/French. Her WAEC result in one sitting: English B3, Mathematics C5, French C4, Literature in English B2, CRS C6, Physics E8.
- Credits: five. Pass.
- English and Mathematics: both. Pass.
- Two relevant subjects: French and Literature in English. Pass.
- Sittings: one. Pass.
- My verdict: she meets every published rule and both degree-level subjects. Upload to CAPS and watch the portal.
Ikenna wants French/Social Studies. He has English C6, Mathematics C5, Civic Education B3, Government C4 and Economics C6, but his school did not offer French. He meets the four-credit count, and Civic Education and Government are relevant to Social Studies. Whether he can start French from scratch is the open question, so he should ask the college before paying the screening fee.
Your chances and my advice
- French has a smaller applicant pool: fewer candidates have French at O’level, so a qualified applicant usually faces less competition than in English or the sciences. That is my observation of NCE French generally, not a college statistic.
- Settle the French question first: one phone call saves you a wasted form fee.
- Choose your second subject carefully: French/Igbo makes sense for many South East candidates, English/French gives the widest teaching options.
- CAPS before screening: get your O’level uploaded early.
- Deadline: colleges of education had until 31 December 2026 to finish 2026/2027 admissions.
How to apply for French Education at FCE Eha-Amufu
JAMB registration for NCE: JAMB’s June 2026 guide for NCE candidates sets the costs: ₦1,500 for a one-sitting O’level verification code (₦2,000 for two sittings), ₦3,500 for the NCE application and ₦700 at the accredited centre. Choose FCE Eha-Amufu as your institution, make sure your O’level result is on CAPS, and wait for the Provost to recommend you on CAPS. Registering for NCE suspends any UTME or Direct Entry application you have open, so decide on one route before you pay.
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN. JAMB replies with a profile code you take to a registration centre.
- Register with JAMB for NCE: under the 2026 policy you do not need a UTME score if you have four or more credits, but you must still be on JAMB’s system. Pick Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu as your institution and the French combination you want as your course. If you registered for another school, do a JAMB change of institution before the college screens.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: at an accredited CBT centre, have your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result uploaded to your JAMB profile. JAMB says NCE credentials are screened and processed through CAPS, so a missing O’level upload can stall your offer.
- Apply on the college portal: create a profile, generate the screening invoice, pay, upload a passport photograph and fill in your O’level, birth certificate and JAMB details, then print the acknowledgement slip. The college’s 2021 advert put the form at ₦2,000 through a portal invoice paid at a bank; the 2026/2027 fee and dates were not published in any source I reached.
- Write the college’s selection test if one is fixed: the college’s adverts say candidates must pass its selection process. Check the portal for the date and bring your printed slip and original results.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. For 2026/2027, JAMB gave candidates four weeks to accept an offer, after which it can be withdrawn. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and clear: print your admission letter and pay acceptance and school charges through the college portal. A blog puts the acceptance fee at ₦5,000 through Remita, but that figure looks old and the college has not published one I could check, so confirm it on the portal first.
Warning
JAMB says admissions done outside CAPS are illegal, and that includes NCE. Nobody can sell you an FCE Eha-Amufu NCE “slot”. Pay only through an invoice generated on the college portal, and confirm that your course is still running before you pay any fee.
Studying French Education (NCE) at Eha-Amufu
The college is in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State, was founded in 1981 and became federal in 1993. The regular NCE lasts three years.
What you study
- Language skills: French grammar, oral French, listening, reading and writing.
- Literature and culture: texts from France and French-speaking Africa.
- Teaching French: methods for teaching French in primary and secondary schools.
- Immersion: many Nigerian NCE French programmes include an immersion period at the Nigeria French Language Village, Badagry. FCE Eha-Amufu’s arrangement is not published, so ask about it and its cost.
- Education and general studies: the courses every NCE student takes, then teaching practice.
This follows the usual NCCE pattern; the college’s own outline is not online.
Accreditation
The college is open on the NCCE accredited colleges list. Myschool reported in 2016 that NCCE accredited 17 of the college’s 20 programmes, with three on interim accreditation, without naming them. French’s current accreditation status is not confirmed.
Is it still a college of education?
Yes. The NCCE list of accredited colleges (checked 29 October 2026) still lists Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu as a federal college of education with the status “open”. A House of Representatives bill to upgrade it to a Federal University of Education passed second reading, but I found no record of a third reading, Senate passage or presidential assent. Until that happens, the college admits NCE students under NCCE rules, and its B.Ed degrees run in affiliation with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).
If you see a social media advert using the name “Federal University of Education, Eha-Amufu”, treat it with care and check it against the college’s own channels before paying anything.
Careers and next steps
- Teaching: French in primary and secondary schools. Teachers register with TRCN.
- Degree: NCE French is widely used for JAMB Direct Entry into B.A. (Ed) French or related degrees.
- Other work: translation and interpreting support, tourism and hospitality, and roles that deal with French-speaking neighbours.

Mistakes that cost French applicants a place
- Assuming French is optional without asking: the college has not said it accepts beginners.
- No Mathematics credit: the advert requires it for every course, French included.
- Not registering with JAMB: the UTME is waived for four-credit candidates, JAMB registration is not.
- Mismatched names: your O’level, birth certificate and JAMB profile must agree.
- Missing the CAPS window: four weeks to accept in 2026/2027.
If you need to move your JAMB choice to Eha-Amufu, read our JAMB change of institution guide.
