ESPOLY Production Technology Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

ESPOLY Production Technology cut-off mark for 2027/2028: JAMB’s 100 minimum, a safe target, JAMB’s agricultural subject rule (Biology or Agric, Chemistry), what the course appears to be, and clearer alternatives.

The ESPOLY Production Technology cut-off mark is 100, JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics for 2026/2027. Enugu State Polytechnic (ESPOLY), Iwollo, has not published a departmental figure, and its last published floor for ND courses was 120 in 2021/2022. Production Technology is on JAMB’s course list for ESPOLY, listed as “Production Tech”, so you can choose it in the UTME. Before you do, read the next section, because what this course actually covers at ESPOLY is not clear.

2027/2028 update: ESPOLY cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Most people who search for Production Technology expect a manufacturing course: machining, welding, factory processes. JAMB’s subject rule for the course ESPOLY lists points somewhere else. It asks for Biology or Agricultural Science and Chemistry, the pattern for agricultural production courses. This guide sets out the cut-off, what the evidence says about the course, the subjects JAMB requires, the application steps, and clearer alternatives if the uncertainty puts you off.

What is Production Technology at ESPOLY?

ESPOLY has not published a description of this course on any page I could open, and its programmes page would not load. Here is what the available records show:

  • JAMB’s listing: Myschool’s reprint of ESPOLY’s JAMB list includes “Production Tech” and links it to a brochure entry filed under engineering, environment and technology (course list).
  • JAMB’s subject rule: that entry asks for Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry and another science. Every institution named in its remarks is an agricultural or animal health college, such as the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology in Ibadan and in Vom.
  • NBTE: the January 2026 brochure of approved curricula has no ND called Production Technology. The nearest titles are ND Animal Health and Production Technology, HND Crop Production Technology and HND Animal Production Technology.
  • ESPOLY’s 2021/2022 notice: its list of 17 ND programmes has no Production Technology.
  • Teezab (July 2026): lists ND Production Technology at ESPOLY under “other technology programs”, with no school named. Its ESPOLY HND list has Crop Production Technology and Animal Production Technology.

My reading is that “Production Tech” on JAMB’s list is most likely an agricultural production programme (crop or animal), and not manufacturing or production engineering. ESPOLY’s engineering courses on its JAMB list are Computer Engineering and Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology; there is no Mechanical Engineering. That is an inference from the records, not an ESPOLY statement, so confirm with ESPOLY’s admissions office which department admits Production Technology students and what diploma they graduate with before you choose it.

ESPOLY Production Technology cut-off mark: official figures

ESPOLY’s 15 May 2026 notice opened 2026/2027 admissions without a minimum score (espoly.edu.ng). JAMB’s minimum for polytechnics is 100 for 2026/2027 (NAN, 11 May 2026) and was 100 for 2025/2026 (Nairametrics, 8 July 2025). ESPOLY’s 2021/2022 screening notice asked ND candidates for 120 and above (Myschool reprint). Production Technology was not on that notice, so the 120 is a general ESPOLY floor, not a figure set for this course.

Safe target score (consultant advice)

I would aim for 130 or more. That is my number, not ESPOLY’s. It clears the old 120 floor with room to spare and keeps you eligible for Agricultural Technology and Animal Health and Production Technology at ESPOLY, which use the same UTME subjects, if Production Technology turns out not to be what you want.

Your UTME scoreWhat it means
Below 100Not eligible for any polytechnic
100 to 119Eligible under JAMB’s rule, below ESPOLY’s last published floor
120 to 129Possible, with little margin
130 to 159Good position for this course or its agricultural neighbours
160 and aboveStrong; consider a university agriculture degree as well

UTME subject combination for Production Technology at ESPOLY

The brochure entry ESPOLY’s listing points to asks for Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry and any other science subject, plus Use of English (brochure entry). The only UTME remark is for Bauchi State Polytechnic. Nothing names Enugu State Polytechnic, so the general line applies.

SubjectStatus
Use of EnglishCompulsory for every UTME candidate
Biology or Agricultural ScienceCompulsory
ChemistryCompulsory
One other science (Physics or Mathematics, for example)Your choice

I would sit English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. That set also fits Agricultural Technology and Animal Health and Production Technology at ESPOLY, and most agriculture degrees. A candidate who registers English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry for a manufacturing course does not meet this line at all. Use our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus to prepare.

O’level requirements for ESPOLY Production Technology

The brochure asks for five credits in Biology or Agricultural Science and Mathematics and any three of Geography, Food and Nutrition, Economics, Technical Drawing, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, a Nigerian language and Home Economics. It then makes credits in English Language and Chemistry compulsory. That leaves one free credit.

CreditStatus
English LanguageCompulsory
MathematicsCompulsory
Biology or Agricultural ScienceCompulsory
ChemistryCompulsory
Fifth subjectPhysics, Geography, Economics or another listed subject

Teezab reports that ESPOLY accepts results from no more than two sittings of WAEC, NECO or NABTEB. ESPOLY has not confirmed this on a page I could open. The brochure has no Direct Entry rule for this course.

ESPOLY screening and a worked example

ESPOLY has not published a post-UTME test, screening fee or timetable for 2026/2027. Applicants go through portal.espoly.edu.ng/applicant.php, and ESPOLY posted ND 1 and HND 1 portal guides on 14 May 2026. Its fees schedule link is empty. In 2021/2022 it asked candidates to make ESPOLY their first choice or change to it.

Worked example (illustrative)

Obinna scored 134 with English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. His WAEC result from one sitting reads English C6, Mathematics C5, Biology B3, Chemistry C4, Agricultural Science B2. He has every compulsory credit and sits above the old 120 floor and my 130 target.

Many polytechnics rank ND applicants half on UTME and half on O’level. As an illustration only: 134 divided by 8 is 16.75. Scoring A1 as 10, B2 as 9, B3 as 8, C4 as 7, C5 as 6 and C6 as 5, his grades add up to 5 + 6 + 8 + 7 + 9 = 35. His illustrative total is 51.75 out of 100. ESPOLY has published no formula, so use this only to compare yourself with other applicants.

Before choosing Production Technology, Obinna should call or visit ESPOLY and ask which department runs it. If the answer is crop or animal production and that suits him, he keeps it. If he wanted factory work, he should move to a course that matches that goal, and the table further down lists some.

How to apply for Production Technology at ESPOLY

  1. Confirm the course with ESPOLY: ask the admissions office which department admits Production Technology students and what the diploma is called.
  2. Create your JAMB profile: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number you will register with. JAMB replies with a profile code.
  3. Choose the course on JAMB: select Production Tech under Enugu State Polytechnic as your first choice, with English, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry and one other science.
  4. Write the UTME: aim for 130 or more. Our guide on how to check your JAMB result covers what to do next.
  5. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB accredited centre, both sittings if you used two.
  6. Apply on the ESPOLY portal: fill the form at portal.espoly.edu.ng/applicant.php and pay only what the portal generates.
  7. Accept on CAPS and pay acceptance: accept within four weeks of the offer, print your JAMB admission letter, then pay ESPOLY’s fees through its portal. See our JAMB CAPS guide.

JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education, so the current cycle runs until that date. If you need to switch, read JAMB change of course or JAMB change of institution.

Confirm before you pay

ESPOLY has not published what Production Technology covers or which school runs it, and NBTE’s approved list has no ND with that exact name. Get ESPOLY’s answer in writing or from its admissions office before you pay any form, acceptance or school fee for this course.

What you would study, duration and careers

Because ESPOLY has not described the course, I cannot give you its modules. If it turns out to be an agricultural production diploma, as JAMB’s subject rule suggests, expect topics close to NBTE’s crop and animal production curricula:

  • Crop husbandry, field crops and seed production
  • Livestock production: poultry, pigs, ruminants and fish
  • Soil science, fertilisers and farm machinery
  • Pests, diseases and their control
  • Farm management, records and agricultural economics
  • SIWES after the first year, then a project

An ND normally takes two years full time, and an HND two more after a year of industrial attachment. ESPOLY’s HND list as Teezab reports it includes Crop Production Technology and Animal Production Technology, which would be the natural next step. Whether this ND holds NBTE accreditation is not confirmed, which matters more here than for most courses, since the title does not match an NBTE-approved ND. Careers would follow the agricultural route: farm supervisor, poultry or fish farm manager, agro-input sales, extension work, or your own farm.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Assuming it is a manufacturing course: JAMB’s rule for it is agricultural.
  • Registering Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry without Biology or Agricultural Science: you would not meet the UTME line.
  • Missing the Chemistry or English credit: both are compulsory at O’level.
  • Paying fees before ESPOLY confirms what the diploma is.
  • Not accepting on CAPS within four weeks.

ESPOLY Production Technology cut-off mark: FAQs

What is the cut-off mark for Production Technology in ESPOLY? No departmental figure has been published. JAMB’s minimum for polytechnics is 100, ESPOLY’s last ND floor was 120 in 2021/2022, and I would aim for 130.

Is Production Technology at ESPOLY an engineering course? The records point the other way. JAMB files it under engineering, but its subject rule asks for Biology or Agricultural Science and Chemistry, and NBTE has no ND with that title, so confirm with ESPOLY.

What subjects do I need in JAMB for Production Technology? Use of English, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry and any other science. ESPOLY has no special remark in the brochure.

Can I change from Production Technology to Agricultural Technology at ESPOLY? Yes, through a JAMB change of course, and the UTME subjects are the same for both. Do it before ESPOLY starts recommending candidates on CAPS.
