The MOUAU cut off mark for Industrial Relations and Personnel Management is 150 in the UTME, and Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) has to be your first choice. That single minimum covered every course in MOUAU’s 2026/2027 screening notice. The university did not publish a separate departmental figure for Industrial Relations and Personnel Management.
2027/2028 update: MOUAU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
There is one thing to settle before the cut-off: whether MOUAU is admitting into this course at all. The department is on MOUAU’s official list, but it was not among the five COLMAS programmes the NUC reinstated in 2025. This page explains that gap, then covers the official figures, a safe target score (my advice), the JAMB subjects, how MOUAU screens and the CAPS steps.

There is no verified admission history for this course at MOUAU. Blog lists that show an Industrial Relations and Personnel Management cut-off for MOUAU cite no MOUAU document, and they say nothing about whether the course is open to new students.
Safe target score for Industrial Relations and Personnel Management at MOUAU (my advice)
MOUAU does not release the score of the last candidate it admitted into each course. The bands below are my own reading as an admissions adviser, not MOUAU figures, and they assume your O’level subjects are complete.
| Your UTME score | My read for MOUAU Industrial Relations and Personnel Management |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for any MOUAU course |
| 150 to 169 | Eligible for screening, but an offer is uncertain |
| 170 to 189 | Reasonable chance with good O’level grades, if the course is admitting |
| 190 and above | Strong. This is where I would aim. |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 180, with credits in English, Mathematics and Economics plus Government and one more social science, ideally from one sitting. The bigger risk for this course is its status, so read the next sections before you choose it.
Merit, catchment and your realistic odds
MOUAU is a federal university, so its offers follow the federal mix of merit, catchment and educationally less developed states. It has not published its own split or a catchment list for 2026/2027. Plan as if you must win on merit: a good UTME score and clean O’level grades from one sitting are the two things you control. Because this course’s status is unclear, I would only make it my JAMB choice after checking that MOUAU lists it on the JAMB registration course list for your year.
UTME subject combination and O’level for MOUAU Industrial Relations and Personnel Management
| Requirement | Industrial Relations and Personnel Management at MOUAU |
|---|---|
| UTME (JAMB general entry) | Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and one other subject |
| MOUAU UTME remark | None. MOUAU is not named on either of Myschool’s two reprints of the entry |
| O’level (JAMB general entry) | Five credits including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two subjects from the Direct Entry list (Accounting, Business Management, Government, Geography, Statistics) |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO, NABTEB |
| Sittings | Not more than two is the usual rule; MOUAU weights the number of sittings in screening |
| Special requirements | None published, apart from checking the course is admitting |
JAMB’s entry fixes Mathematics and Economics and leaves the third UTME subject open. Government is the natural choice, because labour law, public policy and trade unions all lean on it, and it satisfies the stricter remarks other universities print. My advice is to register Mathematics, Economics and Government.
At O’level you need credits in English, Mathematics and Economics plus two subjects from the list JAMB prints in its Direct Entry column. Government and Geography are the easiest to find in a normal WAEC or NECO timetable; Financial Accounting also fits as “Accounting”. Confirm the line on your own JAMB e-brochure, because JAMB applies that version.
Direct Entry
JAMB’s general Direct Entry line asks for two A-level passes chosen from Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Government, Geography and Statistics. Some universities also accept an upper credit ND in a related field (UNILORIN) or a pass in the intermediate examination of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (UNIBEN). No MOUAU remark appears, and MOUAU’s notice gave no Direct Entry rules, so ask COLMAS first.
Is MOUAU admitting into Industrial Relations and Personnel Management?
MOUAU runs Industrial Relations and Personnel Management in its College of Management Sciences (COLMAS), and the course appears on the university’s official department list (last modified 19 June 2026). The college has had a rough decade. In August 2017 The Sun reported that the Federal Government, acting on a Federal Executive Council decision passed down through the Ministry of Education, had told seven federal universities of agriculture and technology to stop running management courses and stick to their core mandate. MOUAU was one of the seven, and JAMB removed the affected courses from its brochure. MOUAU’s spokespeople disputed the delisting at the time.
On 20 March 2025 Myschool reported that the National Universities Commission (NUC) had approved the reinstatement of five previously delisted COLMAS programmes: B.Sc Accounting, B.Sc Marketing, B.Sc Banking and Finance, B.Sc Business Administration and B.Sc Economics. The letter, addressed to the then Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, was signed by Abubakar M. Girei, Acting Director of Academic Planning at the NUC, and followed an expert team’s assessment of the university’s staff and facilities. The report does not say when or why the programmes were delisted, so I treat the 2017 directive as background and not as the confirmed cause.
Industrial Relations and Personnel Management was not named in that 2025 approval. MOUAU still lists the department, but I found no NUC approval, MOUAU announcement or JAMB brochure entry showing that it is taking new 100 level students. Myschool’s reprints of the JAMB entry for the course do not name MOUAU either.
Until MOUAU or the NUC says otherwise, treat the programme’s status as unconfirmed. Before you register, check that MOUAU appears against Industrial Relations and Personnel Management on the JAMB registration course list or e-brochure for your year. If it does not, you cannot be admitted into it through CAPS. If it does, ask the COLMAS office or the Admissions Office to confirm the course is admitting for 2027/2028. If it is not open, Business Administration is the closest reinstated course at MOUAU and uses a very similar UTME combination.
How MOUAU screens Industrial Relations and Personnel Management candidates
MOUAU’s 2026/2027 screening notice was signed by the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, and reprinted by Myschool on 20 June 2026. I could not open the original on mouau.edu.ng, so read these details as a reprint of the notice.
| Detail | MOUAU 2026/2027 screening |
|---|---|
| Who could apply | Candidates with 150 or more in the 2026 UTME and MOUAU as first choice; others could first change to MOUAU on the JAMB portal |
| Registration opened | 6 June 2026, online through mouau.edu.ng |
| Portal | portal.mouau.edu.ng (payment problems: portal@mouau.edu.ng) |
| Fee | ₦2,000 through Remita, by card or cash at any bank |
| O’level | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB results uploaded so they reach JAMB CAPS |
| Awaiting results | Candidates still waiting for 2026 results were told not to register until the results came out |
| Ranking | UTME score, with O’level grades and number of sittings both weighted |
| Closing date and test date | Not stated in the reprint |
The notice does not mention a written Post-UTME test for 2026/2027, so I am not going to tell you one was held. After you register, keep checking the portal, because MOUAU said screening results and admission status would appear there.
Worked example: two Industrial Relations and Personnel Management candidates compared
MOUAU has not published an aggregate formula. To show how grades and sittings can move a ranking, here is an illustrative method many Nigerian universities use: UTME score divided by 8 (up to 50 points) plus O’level points for five relevant subjects, with A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6 and C6 = 5 (up to 50 points). This is my illustration only.
- Somto scored 184 with B2 in English, B3 in Mathematics, B3 in Economics, B2 in Government, C4 in Geography from one sitting. UTME points: 184 ÷ 8 = 23.00. O’level points: 9 + 8 + 8 + 9 + 7 = 41. Illustrative total: 64.00.
- Chiamaka scored 174 with C4 in English, C5 in Mathematics, C6 in Economics, C4 in Government, C5 in Literature in English from two sittings. UTME points: 174 ÷ 8 = 21.75. O’level points: 7 + 6 + 5 + 7 + 6 = 31. Illustrative total: 52.75.
- The gap: 64.00 minus 52.75 = 11.25 points. Ten UTME marks separate them, worth only 1.25 points under this method. The rest of the gap comes from grades and the second sitting.
How to apply for Industrial Relations and Personnel Management at MOUAU, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME with the right subjects: pick Industrial Relations and Personnel Management at MOUAU with Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and Government, and make MOUAU your first choice. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution before screening opens; if you chose the wrong course, read our JAMB change of course guide.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at an accredited JAMB CBT centre as soon as your result is out. MOUAU weights sittings, so upload your best single sitting if one sitting covers all five subjects.
- Register on the MOUAU portal: when screening opens, go to portal.mouau.edu.ng, enter your details and generate the Remita invoice.
- Pay ₦2,000: by card or cash at any bank through Remita. Keep the RRR number and the receipt.
- Watch the portal: MOUAU posts screening outcomes and admission status there. No test date was published for 2026/2027.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gives four weeks to accept, and our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and complete clearance: MOUAU’s acceptance and school fees were not in any source I reached. Take the amount from the invoice on your portal and pay only through it.
Confirm before you pay
Industrial Relations and Personnel Management was not among the five COLMAS programmes the NUC reinstated in 2025, and I found no public confirmation that MOUAU is admitting into it. Check the JAMB e-brochure for MOUAU and confirm with the MOUAU Admissions Office before you pay any form, acceptance or school fee for this course. Every genuine offer appears on JAMB CAPS.
For the 2026/2027 cycle, JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the date public universities should finish admissions. If you applied this year, look at CAPS rather than waiting for a printed list.

Degree, duration and accreditation
The exact degree title, duration and accreditation for this course at MOUAU were not confirmed in any source I reached. Similar programmes in Nigeria award a B.Sc after four years, but I cannot confirm that MOUAU is running the course for new students, let alone its accreditation. I also found nothing on exemptions from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM).
Careers
- Human resources officer or HR generalist in companies and public service.
- Industrial relations or employee relations officer.
- Recruitment, training and talent management roles.
- Trade union and employers’ association staff.
- Labour and employment consultancy.
- Professional membership of CIPM after its exams.

Mistakes that cost Industrial Relations and Personnel Management applicants a MOUAU place
- Choosing the course without checking it is admitting: it was not in the 2025 NUC reinstatement.
- Paying anyone who promises a place in the course: offers come only through CAPS.
- No O’level Economics credit: JAMB’s entry requires it.
- Treating 150 as an admission score: it only opens screening.
- MOUAU not first choice: the notice requires it.
- Combining two weak sittings: MOUAU weights the number of sittings.

Sources and updates
The 150 minimum, the first-choice rule, the 6 June 2026 opening, the ₦2,000 Remita fee, the portal address, the awaiting-result rule and the weighting of O’level grades and sittings come from MOUAU’s 2026/2027 screening notice signed by the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, as reprinted by Myschool on 20 June 2026; I could not open the original on mouau.edu.ng. The national minimum of 150, the 31 October 2026 admission deadline, the four-week acceptance window and the warning that admissions outside CAPS are illegal come from the News Agency of Nigeria’s report of the JAMB 2026 policy meeting (11 May 2026). The college and department names come from MOUAU’s official Academic Department by Faculty page (last modified 19 June 2026). The UTME, O’level and Direct Entry rules come from Myschool’s two reprints of the JAMB brochure entry for Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, under the Faculty of Administration and Social and Management Sciences; MOUAU is not named on either. The list of reinstated programmes comes from Myschool’s 20 March 2025 report of the NUC letter, and the 2017 background from The Sun (20 August 2017). The safe target table and the worked example are my own advice and illustration, and the course content and career lists describe how the subject is usually taught in Nigeria, not a MOUAU handbook. MOUAU’s fees, the exact degree title and the duration were not published in any source I reached. Checked on 29 October 2026; this page will be updated if MOUAU publishes a departmental cut-off or new requirements.
