Marist Poly Biomedical Engineering Technology Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

Biomedical Engineering Technology is on Marist Poly’s own courses page but not on JAMB’s course list for the school. See what that means for 2027 UTME candidates, JAMB’s subject rules and the real alternatives.

Marist Poly has no cut-off mark for Biomedical Engineering Technology that a UTME candidate can use, because the course is not on JAMB’s course list for Marist Polytechnic. Marist, in Emene, Enugu, shows ND Biomedical Engineering Technology on its own courses page, but JAMB’s list for the school carries only six courses, and this is not one of them. If JAMB adds it later, the polytechnic minimum of 100 (2026/2027) would be the floor, but until then you cannot pick it as a Marist course when you register for the UTME.

2027/2028 update: Marist Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

This page explains what that gap means for 2027 candidates, what JAMB’s brochure requires for Biomedical Engineering Technology wherever it is offered, which Marist courses you can actually choose instead, and where else in Enugu you can study biomedical engineering through JAMB.

Is Biomedical Engineering Technology on JAMB’s list for Marist Poly?

No. Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s institution course list for Marist Polytechnic, checked on 30 October 2026, shows these six courses, and Marist’s own courses page shows a longer list:

Biomedical Engineering Technology was also missing from Marist’s last official admission advert (26 June 2025), which opened ND admission in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Electronics Engineering, Science Laboratory Technology and Business Administration and Management only. Its current status at Marist is unverified. It may be a new programme awaiting approval. Confirm with the school in writing before you pay for anything.

What this means for a UTME candidate

  • You cannot select Biomedical Engineering Technology at Marist on the JAMB registration form while it is off the list.
  • Marist cannot recommend you for it on JAMB CAPS, and an admission that never appears on CAPS is not valid.
  • Any “Marist Biomedical cut-off” you see online is a guess, since there is no JAMB route into the course yet.
  • Check the JAMB e-brochure again when 2027 UTME registration opens. If the course appears under Marist, the rules below apply.

The 100 figure is the national floor JAMB set for every polytechnic for 2026/2027 (it was also 100 for 2025/2026). It tells you the least score that could ever qualify you. It does not mean Marist is admitting into this course.

UTME subjects and O’level for Biomedical Engineering Technology (JAMB brochure)

These are JAMB’s general polytechnic rules for the course. Marist has no remark on the page, because it is not one of the listed schools for it.

RequirementWhat JAMB’s brochure says
UTME subjectsUse of English (compulsory) + Mathematics or Physics, plus Chemistry and Biology
O’levelFive credits: English Language, Mathematics, Biology (or Health Science), Chemistry and Physics
Institution remarksOnly two schools have remarks: SBE-UBTH and RIVCOST (both outside Enugu)
Direct EntryBrochure section is blank for this course

Notice that Biology is required in the UTME. That is the main difference from Electrical/Electronics or Computer Engineering, where JAMB wants Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. A candidate who writes English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology for a biomedical course will not fit Marist’s engineering courses, which need Mathematics.

Real alternatives for 2027 candidates

Option 1: a Marist course that is on JAMB’s list

If you want Marist itself and you are interested in technology for health care, these are the nearest courses you can actually choose through JAMB:

Marist courseUTME subjects (JAMB brochure)Why it is close
Electrical/Electronics Engineering TechnologyEnglish, Mathematics, Physics, ChemistryMedical equipment is mostly electronics; this is the usual base for equipment maintenance work
Computer EngineeringEnglish, Mathematics, Physics, ChemistryHardware, embedded systems and devices
Science Laboratory TechnologyEnglish + Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, PhysicsLaboratory and health-sector work; HND Microbiology option at Marist

If you are still choosing subjects for the 2027 UTME, English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry keeps both Marist engineering courses open. English, Mathematics, Biology and Physics fits Marist’s SLT line. No single combination fits both, so decide on the course first.

Option 2: biomedical engineering at a university in Enugu

The Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu (FUAHSE) listed a B.Eng in Biomedical Engineering among its 2025/2026 Post-UTME courses, according to widely reprinted notices; confirm the current list on the FUAHSE portal. A degree route needs the university minimum, which JAMB set at 150 for 2026, and a five-year programme.

Option 3: another polytechnic or college that JAMB lists for the course

JAMB’s brochure page for Biomedical Engineering Technology carries remarks for SBE-UBTH and RIVCOST, which shows the course is offered outside Enugu. When 2027 registration opens, search the JAMB e-brochure by course name to see every school that has it on its list, and choose only from that list.

Safe target score if you go for biomedical engineering (my advice)

This is my advice, not a published figure.

RouteFloorWhat I would aim for
ND at a polytechnic that has the course on JAMB’s list100150 or more
Marist EEE or Computer Engineering (on the list)100150 or more
B.Eng Biomedical Engineering at a university150 (2026 university minimum)200 or more, to be competitive

How to apply to Marist through JAMB, step by step

These steps apply to any course on Marist’s JAMB list. Use them for EEE, Computer Engineering or SLT, or for Biomedical Engineering Technology only if it appears on the list for 2027.

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN by SMS to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN. JAMB replies with the profile code you need to buy the UTME e-PIN.
  2. Register for the UTME: choose Marist Polytechnic and a course that is on JAMB’s Marist list, with the subjects the brochure names for that course.
  3. Write the UTME and clear 100: 100 is JAMB’s floor for every polytechnic in 2026/2027. Aim higher (see the safe target above).
  4. Upload your O’level on CAPS: go to a JAMB-accredited CBT centre and have your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result uploaded. A result that is not on CAPS cannot be used to admit you, and Awaiting Result candidates must upload once the result is out.
  5. Make Marist your choice: if you picked another school at registration, do a JAMB change of institution. Marist’s 2025/2026 advert told candidates to do exactly this at a JAMB CBT centre.
  6. Apply on the Marist portal: from the Admissions menu on maristpolytechnic.edu.ng, click Apply Now. It opens portal.maristpolytechnic.edu.ng, where you fill the application and upload your details.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status you may see.
  8. Pay acceptance and school fees: pay only through channels the portal or the bursary names, then print your JAMB admission letter and complete registration.

Warning

Biomedical Engineering Technology is not on JAMB’s course list for Marist Polytechnic as of 30 October 2026. Do not pay for a Marist form, acceptance or fees for this course until the school confirms in writing that it admits into it through JAMB CAPS. An admission that never shows on CAPS is not valid, and JAMB has said admissions outside CAPS are illegal.

For the 2026/2027 cycle, JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the admission deadline for polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education, and said offers must be accepted on CAPS. If you sat the 2026 UTME and chose Marist, that window runs until 31 December 2026.

What Biomedical Engineering Technology is

Biomedical engineering technology trains technicians to install, test, maintain and repair medical equipment: patient monitors, X-ray and ultrasound machines, laboratory analysers, dialysis and anaesthesia machines. A typical ND runs for two years full-time with a SIWES placement, and covers electronics, instrumentation, anatomy and physiology for engineers, medical equipment technology and workshop practice.

Accreditation

NBTE lists Marist Polytechnic as a private polytechnic approved in 2016. The accreditation status of its Biomedical Engineering Technology programme is not confirmed, and the course’s absence from JAMB’s list for Marist is a reason to ask before you commit. Ask the admission office to show NBTE approval for the programme.

Careers

Biomedical engineering technicians work in hospital engineering departments, with companies that sell and service medical devices, and in diagnostic centres. An ND holder can progress to HND and then to a degree, which matters if you want senior roles in clinical engineering.

Who runs Marist Polytechnic

Marist Polytechnic is a private Catholic polytechnic run by the Marist Brothers at Umuchigbo Iji-Nike, Emene, Enugu State. The Rector is Rev. Br. Anochie Okechukwu Venantius (PhD). NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes lists it as a private polytechnic (entry 85, P.M.B. 104 Emene) and gives 2016 as the year government approved it. The school’s courses page groups programmes into five schools: Computing and IT, Engineering Technology, Environmental Technology, Health/Allied/Applied Sciences, and Management Sciences.

Biomedical Engineering Technology would sit in the Engineering Technology school by its name, but Marist’s courses page does not say, and the programme has not been part of any Marist admission advert we could find.

If you already registered a course you can no longer use, our JAMB change of course and change of institution guides show how to fix it. Preparing for 2027? Start with when JAMB 2027 registration starts and our JAMB Biology syllabus.
