The Madonna University cut off mark for Food Science and Technology is 150. Madonna’s 2026/2027 admission page sets 150 as its general minimum, with higher figures only for Law, Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing, and Food Science and Technology is listed with the engineering courses linked to the Akpugo campus in Enugu State. 150 is also JAMB’s national minimum for universities. My advice for the 2027 UTME is to aim for 160.
2027/2028 update: Madonna University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Course check: Food Science and Technology is on Madonna’s JAMB course list under the exact name “Food Science and Technology”. Madonna’s own pages are less clear. The Engineering Faculty page (Akpugo) and the undergraduate page both list it with engineering, but the main Faculty of Engineering page lists only six departments and leaves it out, and I found no department page, degree title or course outline for it. Before you pay anything, ask the Akpugo admissions office to confirm that Food Science and Technology is taking students for your session, which campus teaches it, and what degree it awards.
Accreditation check: I found no NUC accreditation result for Food Science and Technology at Madonna, so its status is not confirmed. Ask for the NUC letter before paying.
Madonna University cut off mark for Food Science and Technology: the figures that apply
Madonna has never published a separate figure for Food Science and Technology. The general minimum applies.
| Session | Figure | What it is | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2021/2022 | 140 | Madonna’s minimum UTME score to apply (all courses listed in that notice) | Myschool reprint of Madonna’s admission notice, 1 February 2022 |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | JAMB’s national minimum for universities | JAMB 2025 policy meeting (Channels TV and Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB’s national minimum for universities | JAMB 2026 policy meeting (NAN, 11 May 2026) |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Madonna’s general minimum; only Law, Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing carry higher figures | Official: Madonna admission page and undergraduate page |
| 2026/2027 | Not published | A separate figure for Food Science and Technology | No Madonna notice gives one; Madonna was not on the list of institution cut-offs from the 2026 policy meeting |
Madonna’s two official pages disagree on the higher courses. The admission page lists Law 190, Medicine 180, Pharmacy 160 and Nursing 170, while the undergraduate page says those four need 200. Neither page names any engineering course, and both say 150 applies to everything else, so the conflict does not change the figure for engineering candidates at Akpugo. Aggregator pages that still print 140 are repeating the 2021/2022 notice; 140 is now below JAMB’s legal floor.
Safe target score for Food Science and Technology at Madonna (my advice)
This is my own advice; Madonna publishes no departmental figure. Food Science and Technology draws fewer applicants than the engineering courses, so I set the target at 160. For this course, the programme question above matters more than your score.
| Your UTME score | My read for Madonna Food Science and Technology |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for any university place in the 2026/2027 session |
| 150 to 149 | Eligible to apply. A realistic chance once the course is confirmed and your O’level is complete |
| 150 to 159 | A good chance with every credit uploaded early |
| 160 and above | My safe target for Food Science and Technology at Madonna |
| 200 and above | Competitive for Food Science and Technology at most public universities in the South East |
If you are between 150 and 159, apply, but confirm the course is running before you pay the medical test fee.
Madonna University Food Science and Technology subject combination and O’level requirements
JAMB’s brochure has more than one entry for Food Science and Technology, one for each faculty that runs it. Madonna’s JAMB course list links to the engineering version on Myschool, which has no Madonna remark. That is the one to follow.
| Requirement | Food Science and Technology at Madonna |
|---|---|
| Course name to pick on JAMB | Food Science and Technology (under Madonna University) |
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics or Biology |
| O’level credits (JAMB) | Five credits: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and one other science subject |
| Sittings | Not more than two (Madonna admission page) |
| Direct Entry (JAMB) | Two A level passes in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics; ND or HND upper credit in a relevant programme |
| Madonna remark in the brochure | None |
The science-faculty version of the brochure uses a different line (Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics, and Agricultural Science). Madonna’s list points to the engineering version, so I would register Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. That combination satisfies both, and it keeps the Akpugo engineering courses open if you change your mind. Physics is a required O’level credit in the engineering version even if you write Biology in the UTME.
Points Food Science and Technology applicants get wrong
- Following the wrong brochure entry: Madonna’s list links the engineering version, not the science or agriculture one.
- No Physics credit: the engineering version lists Physics among the five O’level credits.
- Assuming it is a nutrition or dietetics course: those are separate degrees elsewhere.
- Paying before the course is confirmed: Madonna has not published a department page for it.
Direct Entry into Food Science and Technology
JAMB’s line accepts two A level passes in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics, and an upper credit ND or HND in a relevant programme. Madonna has published no Direct Entry rule for this course. Its engineering department pages put OND holders at 200 level and HND holders at 300 level, but confirm with the admissions office that the same applies here before registering Direct Entry with JAMB.
How Madonna screens Food Science and Technology applicants
Madonna does not advertise a written post-UTME examination. Its admission page says the screening and admission forms are free and that every fresh applicant for 2026/2027 pays a ₦30,000 medical test fee. You generate an invoice on the portal (it begins with MNT), then pay through Quickteller or at any commercial bank. Legit.ng reported the same fee on 14 September 2026. Older blog posts mention a ₦6,000 medical fee paid at Mayfresh Mortgage Bank; that is the old arrangement, so follow the portal invoice.
| Screening item | What Madonna has published |
|---|---|
| Form fee | Screening and admission forms are free (official admission page) |
| Portal | madonna.skool-board.com; log in with your applicant number as username and your first name as password |
| Medical test fee | ₦30,000 for every fresh 2026/2027 applicant, paid with a portal invoice through Quickteller or any commercial bank |
| Medical examination and interview | Selected candidates do a medical examination and an oral interview at the admissions office of the campus they chose (undergraduate page) |
| Written post-UTME test | None described on either official page |
| Aggregate formula | Not published |
| Awaiting result | Allowed, provided the result is available on resumption |
| Admission list | Offers appear on JAMB CAPS; Madonna has not published list dates |
Worked example for a Food Science and Technology candidate
Without a published formula, check yourself against the 150 floor, my 160 target and the subject rules.
Kosisochukwu scored 163 with Use of English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology. She has credits in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics in one WAEC sitting.
- Legal floor: 163 is above 150.
- My safe target: 163 clears 160 by three marks.
- UTME subjects: Biology in place of Physics is allowed by the engineering version of the brochure.
- O’level: all five credits, Physics included. She qualifies, provided Madonna confirms the course is running.
Illustration only: on a 50:50 aggregate, 163 divided by 8 gives 20.38 of the 50 UTME points. Madonna has not said it uses this or any formula.
Is Food Science and Technology at Madonna accredited?
Not confirmed. I found no NUC report page for Food Science and Technology at Madonna. NUC’s report pages for Madonna (listed as Madonna University, Okija) cover Anatomy, Physiology, Marketing and Business Education, all graded Full in November 2024. NUC’s full results list cannot be read past Crawford University, and Madonna’s undergraduate page gives only a general “100% NUC Accredited” line that names no programme.
Because the course has no department page, I would ask for two things in writing before paying acceptance: the latest NUC letter naming Food Science and Technology at Madonna, and confirmation of the degree title and campus. Graduates who want to practise as food scientists usually register with the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology, and a degree from an accredited programme makes that easier.
How to apply for Food Science and Technology at Madonna, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN.
- Register the right course: pick Madonna University and the course listed by JAMB as “Food Science and Technology”, with Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics or Biology plus Use of English. If Madonna was not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution; JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre as soon as your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. Madonna lets awaiting-result candidates apply, but CAPS cannot carry an offer until the upload is done.
- Create your Madonna applicant account: on the portal at madonna.skool-board.com, choose Food Science and Technology and note your applicant number.
- Pay the medical test fee: generate the ₦30,000 MNT invoice on the portal and pay through Quickteller or a commercial bank. Keep the receipt.
- Attend the medical examination and oral interview: at the admissions office of the campus you chose. For engineering, ask whether it holds at Akpugo.
- Check and accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB gave candidates four weeks to accept or reject offers in 2026. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay school charges to Madonna only: Madonna has not published an acceptance fee. Ask the bursary for the full first-year bill in writing and pay only through the portal or channels it names.
Admission outside CAPS is illegal
JAMB and the News Agency of Nigeria have both stated that any admission given outside CAPS is illegal. A real Madonna offer always shows on your JAMB CAPS page, so do not pay anyone who promises a place in exchange for money.
Studying Food Science and Technology
Madonna has published no course outline, duration or degree title for this course. In Nigerian universities it usually runs for five years, with a year or semester of industrial training. The table is the general pattern, not a Madonna document.
| Stage | What you usually study |
|---|---|
| 100 and 200 level | Chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, introduction to food science, and general studies |
| 300 level | Food chemistry, food microbiology, principles of food processing, unit operations |
| 400 level | Food engineering, food analysis, product development, and industrial training (SIWES) |
| 500 level | Food quality control, packaging, processing of specific foods (cereals, dairy, beverages), and a project |
Careers after Food Science and Technology
Graduates work in food and beverage manufacturing, breweries, flour and dairy plants, quality assurance laboratories, regulatory bodies such as NAFDAC and SON, agro-processing firms and research institutes. Some start their own small processing businesses.
Food Science and Technology school fees at Madonna
Madonna’s fees page could not be opened. Legit.ng’s Madonna fees article (updated 5 May 2026) shows ₦370,000 for the first semester and ₦230,000 for the second, ₦600,000 in all, against Food Science and Technology and the other engineering courses, but the table carries no session label. Treat it as a rough guide and ask the bursary for the current bill, including hostel, laboratory and medical charges.

Mistakes that cost Food Science and Technology applicants a Madonna place
- Not confirming the course is running: ask the admissions office first.
- Missing the Physics credit: the engineering version of the brochure requires it.
- Planning with 140: the floor is 150.
- Missing the private university deadline: JAMB set 30 November 2026 for the 2026/2027 session.

Madonna’s 2026/2027 rules (the 150 line, the higher figures for Law, Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing, free forms, the ₦30,000 medical test fee, the portal, the two-sitting O’level rule, awaiting-result applications and the admission office contacts) are from the official admission page; the conflicting 200 figure, the medical examination and oral interview, and the Engineering and Technology programme list are from the official undergraduate page. The Akpugo campus tag and department list are from the official Faculty of Engineering and Engineering Faculty pages, and the campus description is from the Campus and Facilities page. Madonna’s Engineering Faculty and undergraduate pages list Food Science and Technology; the Faculty of Engineering page does not. The 2021/2022 figure of 140 is from Myschool’s reprint of Madonna’s 2021/2022 notice (1 February 2022). JAMB’s 150 minimum, the 30 November 2026 deadline for private universities, the four-week acceptance window and the warning on admissions outside CAPS are from the News Agency of Nigeria report on the 2026 JAMB policy meeting (11 May 2026). The medical fee report is from Legit.ng (14 September 2026), and the unofficial fee table is from Legit.ng’s Madonna school fees article (updated 5 May 2026). The JAMB course name is from Myschool’s copy of Madonna’s JAMB course list (52 courses, checked 30 October 2026). NUC report pages for Madonna were searched on nuc.edu.ng (reports for Anatomy, Physiology, Business Education and Marketing, such as entry 5414, were found; none for engineering or Food Science), and the NUC Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 could not be read past Crawford University.
