Rhema University Cut-Off Mark for Accounting 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

Rhema University, Aba has not published its own Accounting cut-off, so JAMB’s 150 is the official minimum. See the safe target score, UTME subjects, O’level list, Direct Entry routes including ATS and ICAN Foundation, and the screening position.

The Rhema University cut-off mark for Accounting is 150 in the UTME, JAMB’s national minimum for universities for 2026/2027. Rhema University, Aba has not published a separate cut-off for B.Sc. Accounting, and it is not on the list of institution-declared cut-offs from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting. Score 150 or more, choose Rhema, and hold five relevant O’level credits, and you are eligible to apply.

2027/2028 update: Rhema cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Accounting is the largest course in many Nigerian business schools, and it is one of the few at Rhema with professional routes into Direct Entry (the Accounting Technician Scheme and ICAN Foundation). This page gives the official figures, a safe target score (my advice), the UTME subjects and O’level list, every Direct Entry route, the screening position, a worked example, the CAPS steps and where the degree leads.

This is Rhema University at 153 Aba-Owerri Road, Aba, Abia State. Posts about a “Rhema University, Obeama-Asa, Rivers State” have mixed up the name and should be ignored.

An old “Rhema cut-off mark for all courses 2018/2019” list still circulates. It cites no Rhema document, so treat it as unofficial.

Safe target score for Accounting at Rhema (my advice)

Accounting is in steady demand among commercial-class candidates across the South-East, and Aba is a trading city where the course has obvious appeal. Rhema still has a much smaller applicant pool than ABSU or UNN, so the pressure on places is moderate. The bands below are my judgement, not a Rhema rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Rhema Accounting
Below 150Not eligible for any Rhema degree course
150 to 159Eligible; complete O’level and early application matter most
160 to 179Reasonable chance
180 to 199Good chance
200 and aboveStrong

For the 2027 UTME, I would aim for 180 or more. That also keeps Accounting open at several state universities if you need a second option.

Rhema’s O’level listFive credits from English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Business Studies, Financial Accounting and GovernmentRhema admissions page

Rhema names six subjects for five credits. English, Mathematics and Economics appear in both Rhema’s list and JAMB’s rule, so treat those three as fixed. For the other two, pick from Financial Accounting, Business Studies (Commerce on many certificates) and Government. Financial Accounting is the one I would never leave out, because the whole degree builds on it. If your two extra credits are in other subjects, ask the admissions office before buying the form.

In the UTME, Mathematics and Economics are fixed. For the fourth subject, JAMB’s wording is “any other social science subject”. Government is the clearest fit. If you prefer Commerce or Principles of Accounts, check that JAMB accepts it for Accounting on the e-brochure when you register. There is no Rhema-specific UTME or O’level remark for Accounting in the brochure.

Direct Entry into Accounting at Rhema

Direct Entry candidates join at 200 level. Rhema’s admissions page asks for the five O’level credits plus one of these:

  • At least two relevant A-level GCE passes
  • IJMB
  • NCE
  • ND at upper credit, or HND at lower credit, in Accounting
  • A pass in the Accounting Technician Scheme (ATS)
  • An ICAN Foundation pass
  • A first degree in a related field

JAMB’s general Direct Entry rule for Accounting is two A-level passes including Economics. The brochure also notes that Rhema accepts an ND or HND in Accounting plus the UTME requirements. So an A-level or IJMB candidate should make sure Economics is one of the passes. ATS and ICAN Foundation holders should confirm with Rhema which level they will be placed in, since the page lists them without further detail.

Rhema Post-UTME screening for Accounting

Rhema has not published a screening date, procedure or fee for Accounting in any source I reached. The only screening notice I could confirm, reprinted by Myschool on 10 September 2025, was for MBBS and Nursing candidates on 16 September 2025 at Rhema’s Academic Block in Aba, with extra centres in Abuja (Gwarimpa) and Lagos (Ojodu Berger).

Blogs that announce a test for every Rhema course cite no university notice and give conflicting form prices. Apply on the portal when it opens and call the admissions office (08107159322) to ask whether Accounting applicants will be screened or interviewed.

Worked example (illustrative only)

Rhema publishes no aggregate formula. The example measures scores against the 150 floor and my 180 target and, in case a test is held, uses the 50:50 method common at Nigerian universities (UTME divided by 8, plus half the screening percentage). This is my illustration only.

  1. Nnamdi: UTME 187 in English, Mathematics, Economics and Government, with credits in English, Mathematics, Economics, Financial Accounting and Commerce. He is 37 above the floor and 7 above my target.
  2. If there is a test: he scores 58%. 187 divided by 8 is 23.375; half of 58 is 29. His illustrative aggregate is about 52.4.
  3. Ifeoma: UTME 164 (20.5) and 72% at screening (36), giving 56.5. Her test result carries her past Nnamdi.
  4. Kenechukwu: UTME 199, but a pass in Mathematics. Mathematics is compulsory in both lists, so he must fix it at the next WAEC or NECO sitting before any offer is possible.

How to apply for Accounting at Rhema, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register for the UTME: choose Accounting with English, Mathematics, Economics and a social science subject, and select Rhema University. To switch later, see JAMB change of institution or JAMB change of course.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB office or accredited CBT centre, using your WAEC or NECO result.
  4. Apply on Rhema’s portal: on rhemauniversity.edu.ng open Admissions, click “Apply Now”, sign in, fill the form and print the acknowledgement.
  5. Confirm screening: call 08107159322 or 08076846648 and ask whether Accounting candidates sit a test.
  6. Accept on CAPS: at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB allowed four weeks to accept offers in 2026. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay acceptance and clear: Rhema’s acceptance fee is not published in any source I reached. Get the amount from the university, pay through official channels, then complete clearance with your original documents.

Warning

Blogs quote different prices for Rhema’s admission form. Pay only the amount on Rhema’s own portal or from its admissions office, and ignore anyone selling a guaranteed place. A genuine offer always appears on JAMB CAPS.

Studying Accounting at Rhema University

Rhema University is a private Christian university in Aba, established in 2010 according to its own news page. It awards a B.Sc. in Accounting. The admissions page does not give the duration; in Nigeria the degree normally takes four years from 100 level and three through Direct Entry.

Accreditation

Rhema’s admissions page says all its courses are accredited by the NUC. I could not find a published NUC result specific to Accounting at Rhema, and I found no confirmation of ICAN or ANAN accreditation of the programme, which some universities hold and which can earn graduates exam exemptions. Treat both as not confirmed and ask the department before you pay.

What you study

  • 100 level: principles of accounting, economics, business mathematics, introduction to management and general studies.
  • Financial reporting: financial accounting, company accounts and public sector accounting.
  • Management side: cost and management accounting, budgeting and financial management.
  • Assurance and law: auditing, taxation, business and company law.
  • Final stage: industrial training (SIWES) and a research project.

Graduates work as accountants, auditors, tax officers, bank and finance staff, internal control officers and business analysts. Most go on to a professional qualification such as ICAN’s Chartered Accountant (ACA) or ANAN’s, which is what employers in audit firms usually look for.

JAMB’s course list for Rhema, as copied by Myschool, also includes Actuarial Science and Sociology, which are not on Rhema’s own admissions page. If either interests you, confirm with Rhema that it is admitting into that course before you choose it.

Mistakes Accounting applicants make

  • Treating 150 as admission: it is only the minimum to be considered.
  • A pass in Mathematics: a credit is compulsory in every list for Accounting.
  • Skipping Economics in the UTME: it is a required subject alongside Mathematics.
  • O’level not on CAPS: Rhema cannot send an offer without it.
  • Stopping at CAPS acceptance: acceptance fee and clearance still follow.

Rhema University cut-off mark for Accounting: frequently asked questions

Can I study Accounting at Rhema University with 160? Yes, 160 is above JAMB’s 150 minimum, so you may apply. Rhema has not published a departmental cut-off; I would aim for 180 or more to be comfortable.

What is the JAMB subject combination for Accounting at Rhema University? Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and one other social science subject such as Government. Confirm your fourth subject on the JAMB e-brochure.

Can I use ICAN ATS for Direct Entry into Accounting at Rhema? Yes. Rhema’s admissions page lists the Accounting Technician Scheme and an ICAN Foundation pass among its Direct Entry qualifications, alongside five O’level credits.

Is Financial Accounting compulsory at O’level for Rhema Accounting? Rhema lists it among six subjects for five credits, so it is not strictly fixed. I would still include it, since English, Mathematics and Economics are the only subjects named in both Rhema’s list and JAMB’s rule.

The UTME subjects, JAMB’s O’level and Direct Entry rules and the Rhema remark on ND/HND in Accounting are from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure for Accounting; the Actuarial Science and Sociology entries are from Myschool’s copy of JAMB’s Rhema course list. The MBBS and Nursing screening of 16 September 2025 and the number 08107159322 are from Myschool’s reprint of Rhema’s notice (10 September 2025). The safe target score, subject advice and worked example are my own guidance. Checked on 29 October 2026; this page will be updated if Rhema publishes an Accounting cut-off or screening notice.
