GOUNI Business Management Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

GOUNI lists Business Management with a 150 cut-off, but JAMB’s GOUNI course list has no entry by that name. What the gap means, how to confirm the right JAMB course, the subjects and the alternatives.

The GOUNI Business Management cut-off mark is 150 in the UTME, the minimum Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, published for every programme outside Medicine, Law and Nursing in 2026/2027. Business Management is on GOUNI’s 2026/2027 list of available programmes. The problem is on JAMB’s side: JAMB’s course list for GOUNI has no entry called Business Management, so you cannot pick that exact name when you register.

2027/2028 update: GOUNI cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Check before you register

JAMB’s course list for Godfrey Okoye University has no course called Business Management. Before you register for the UTME or change your course, check JAMB’s GOUNI list yourself, then e-mail GOUNI admissions and ask which JAMB course leads to Business Management. Get the answer in writing and keep it. If GOUNI cannot name one, choose a course that is on JAMB’s GOUNI list or apply for business studies at another university.

I compared GOUNI’s 2026/2027 programme list with JAMB’s list for GOUNI, as reprinted by Myschool and checked on 30 October 2026. JAMB’s list has 55 courses. The two closest to Business Management are Management and Business Administration. Neither is on GOUNI’s own 2026/2027 list under that name, which tells me the university and JAMB describe the same department differently. GOUNI has not said so in writing, though, and a mismatch on CAPS is the kind of problem that stalls an admission for weeks.

This page explains what the gap means, what evidence points to the right JAMB name, the subjects you need, how GOUNI screens online, and what to do if you want a safer route.

Does GOUNI offer Business Management?

Yes, in the sense that GOUNI lists it and teaches a management degree. Several pieces of evidence point to a single department that goes by more than one name:

  • GOUNI’s 2026/2027 admission page lists “Business Management” under the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences.
  • The same page’s JUPEB section lists the course as “Management”.
  • GOUNI’s 2025/2026 second-semester timetable for the faculty has a “MANAGEMENT” heading with classes at 100, 200, 300 and 400 level, and no separate Business Management heading.
  • GOUNI’s August 2021 news release named Management among 13 programmes that earned full NUC accreditation.
  • JAMB’s brochure page for Business Administration carries a remark that GOUNI (written “GO”) offers that course with options in Management, Marketing and Public Administration. That remark looks older than GOUNI’s current structure.

Put together, I think GOUNI’s Business Management is the department JAMB knows as Management. That is my reading of the evidence. GOUNI has not confirmed it, and JAMB’s live list may differ from Myschool’s reprint. So the safe move is to ask GOUNI and let them name the JAMB course.

What to do before you register

  1. Look at JAMB’s GOUNI list yourself: at your registration centre or on JAMB’s e-facility, select Godfrey Okoye University and scroll the course list. If “Business Management” now appears, register it.
  2. If it is missing, write to GOUNI: e-mail admissions@gouni.edu.ng, say you want Business Management, and ask which JAMB course you should register to be admitted into it. Ask them to reply in writing.
  3. Keep the reply: save the e-mail and print it. You may need it if the course on your CAPS offer differs from the course name on your admission letter.
  4. Register only what GOUNI names: do not pick Management or Business Administration on a guess. If GOUNI does not answer before registration closes, pick a course you would be happy to study as it is listed, or choose a university that lists Business Management directly.

Is 150 enough for Business Management at GOUNI?

GOUNI’s 2026/2027 minimum JAMB scores are Medicine and Surgery 200, Nursing 180, Law 200, Architecture 150, Computer Science 150, Education 150 and other programmes 150. Business Management falls under “other programmes”, so 150 is the figure. GOUNI has not published a departmental merit cut-off.

Safe target score (my advice)

Your UTME scoreMy read for Business Management at GOUNI
Below 150Not eligible at any Nigerian university in 2026/2027
150 to 159Eligible at GOUNI once the JAMB course question is settled; Coal City and Caritas Business Administration also take 150
160 to 179Also opens UNN’s Business Management, which screens from 160
180 and aboveClears ESUT’s 180 band for Business Administration too

Because the course name is uncertain, I would aim for 165 or more in the 2027 UTME. That keeps UNN Business Management open as a backup if GOUNI’s answer comes late. GOUNI is private, so there is no catchment or state quota.

UTME subjects and O’level for Business Management

With no Business Management entry for GOUNI, there is no brochure line written for this exact course. JAMB’s lines for Management and Business Administration are close, and either is the sensible reference while you wait for GOUNI’s answer.

RequirementManagement (JAMB)Business Administration (JAMB)
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics, Economics and one other subjectUse of English, Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject
O’levelFive credits including English Language, Mathematics and EconomicsFive credits including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjects
GOUNI remarkNoneFive credits in not more than two sittings including English, Mathematics and Economics; Commerce accepted in place of Economics
Direct EntryTwo A-level passes from Economics, Accounts, Business Management, Government, Geography or StatisticsTwo A-level passes including Economics; GOUNI remark: Economics plus one of Mathematics, Statistics or Geography

Both lines want the same core, so you lose nothing by preparing for it now: Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and Government in the UTME, and credits in English Language, Mathematics and Economics within two sittings. GOUNI’s admission page lists the JUPEB combination for Management as Mathematics, Economics, and Business Studies or Government, which fits the same pattern. GOUNI also asks every applicant for credits in English and Mathematics.

How GOUNI admission works

GOUNI’s 2026/2027 admission page describes an online application followed by an e-mailed decision within three working days. It mentions no written Post-UTME test or interview for undergraduates.

Worked example

Obinna scored 168 in English, Mathematics, Economics and Government, with credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Civic Education from one WAEC sitting. He wants Business Management at GOUNI.

  1. Score check: 168 minus 150 = 18. He clears GOUNI’s minimum.
  2. Subject check: his UTME fits JAMB’s lines for both Management and Business Administration.
  3. The JAMB question: before registering, he e-mails GOUNI admissions, asks which JAMB course leads to Business Management, and saves the reply.
  4. Backup: with 168 he also clears UNN’s 160, so he keeps UNN Business Management in view until GOUNI answers.

Amaka scored 155 and has already registered Business Administration with GOUNI as first choice. She should e-mail GOUNI now with her registration number and ask whether that registration can lead to Business Management. If GOUNI says no, she still has Coal City University and Caritas, which list Business Administration at 150, and she can use JAMB’s change of course window if GOUNI names a different JAMB course.

How to apply to GOUNI for Business Management

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Settle the course name first: check JAMB’s GOUNI list and register only the course GOUNI names in writing.
  3. Fix your choice if needed: GOUNI says candidates who did not choose it first must do a JAMB change of institution. Our change of institution guide explains how.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB-accredited centre and confirm every grade on your e-Facility profile.
  5. Fill GOUNI’s online form: open the Fill Admission Form page, choose Business Management, and use an e-mail address you check daily.
  6. Form fee: free. Anyone who asks you to pay for this form is not GOUNI.
  7. Check the course on CAPS: when an offer arrives, log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng and read the course name before you accept. If it is not what GOUNI told you, e-mail admissions first. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  8. Pay fees the right way: only through GOUNI’s official online platform. GOUNI says money paid into a personal account is at the payer’s own risk, and no agent can sell you a place.

For the 2026/2027 cycle, JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the admission deadline for private universities, and GOUNI repeated that date in its news post of 12 May 2026. That window runs until 30 November 2026. JAMB has not announced the 2027/2028 dates yet; they normally come after the UTME, so 2027 candidates should watch for them then.

What a Business Management degree covers

Business Management, often called Management in Nigerian universities, studies how organisations are planned, staffed, led and controlled. GOUNI has not published a course outline, award title or duration for it on the pages I read, and I found no GOUNI curriculum PDF for it. GOUNI’s timetable shows Management classes at four levels, which fits the usual four-year B.Sc. for UTME entrants.

  • Management core: principles of management, organisational behaviour, human resource management, production and operations management, and strategic management.
  • Business tools: introductory accounting, business statistics, business mathematics and management information systems.
  • Environment: business law, the Nigerian business environment, marketing and entrepreneurship.
  • Research: research methods and a final-year project.

Graduates go into management trainee schemes, human resources, operations, sales and administration in banks, manufacturing firms, telecoms and the public service. Many later take professional exams with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) or the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), or start their own businesses.

Accreditation

GOUNI’s August 2021 news release and Myschool’s report of 9 August 2021 both list Management among 13 GOUNI programmes that earned full NUC accreditation. If Business Management is the same department, that result covers it. Full accreditation normally runs five years, so the next NUC visit would fall around 2026, and I found no newer result: NUC’s online results PDF cuts off before universities starting with G. GOUNI’s accreditation page says all its programmes are NUC accredited, without dates. Ask GOUNI to confirm the current status in the same e-mail as your JAMB question.

The reading that Business Management and Management are one department, the target bands, the examples and the course description are my judgement. Checked on 30 October 2026; we will update this page when GOUNI or JAMB clarifies the course listing.
