The Rhema University Chemistry cut-off mark is 150 in the UTME, JAMB’s national minimum for universities for 2026/2027. Rhema University, Aba has not published its own cut-off for B.Sc. Chemistry, and it is missing from the list of institution-declared cut-offs released after JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting. With 150 or more, Rhema as your choice and the five O’level credits below, you are eligible to apply.
2027/2028 update: Rhema cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Rhema lists the course as B.Sc. Chemistry (Pure/Applied). Below are the official figures, a safe target score (my advice), the UTME and O’level subjects, a Direct Entry rule that rules out one A-level subject, the screening position, a worked example, the CAPS steps and what a chemistry graduate does next.
Rhema University Chemistry cut-off mark: what is official
| Item | Position | Source or status |
|---|---|---|
| JAMB minimum for universities (2026/2027) | 150 | JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026 |
| Rhema minimum for Chemistry | Not published | Absent from official pages and the 2026 declared list |
| Departmental merit cut-off | Not published | Rhema does not release last admitted scores |
| Screening for Chemistry | Not published | The only notice found covered MBBS and Nursing |
| UTME subjects | English, Chemistry and two of Physics, Biology, Mathematics | JAMB brochure (Myschool reprint) |
| O’level | English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and another science | Rhema admissions page |
| Degree | B.Sc. Chemistry (Pure/Applied) | Rhema admissions page |
This is Rhema University at 153 Aba-Owerri Road, Aba, Abia State. Ignore blogs that place a “Rhema University” in Obeama-Asa, Rivers State; they have confused the name.
Rhema Chemistry cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | Official, JAMB 2026 policy meeting |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | JAMB 2025 policy meeting |
| Any session | None | A Rhema-declared Chemistry cut-off | Not published in any source I reached |
A “Rhema cut-off mark for all courses 2018/2019” list is still copied around. It cites no Rhema document, so treat it as unofficial and out of date.
Safe target score for Chemistry at Rhema (my advice)
Pure and applied sciences such as Chemistry draw fewer applicants than the health courses, and Rhema is a private university with a smaller pool than the federal schools. That usually means the JAMB minimum carries more weight here than at a crowded university. The bands below are my judgement, not Rhema’s.
| Your UTME score | My read for Rhema Chemistry |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for any Rhema degree course |
| 150 to 159 | Eligible; complete O’level and early application matter most |
| 160 to 174 | Reasonable chance |
| 175 to 194 | Good chance |
| 195 and above | Strong |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 175 or more. If you score well above that, consider whether a more competitive course at Rhema, such as Biochemistry, interests you as well.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Rhema Chemistry
| Requirement | What applies | Source |
|---|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Chemistry, and two of Physics, Biology and Mathematics | JAMB brochure (Myschool reprint) |
| Rhema’s O’level list | Five credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus other relevant science subjects | Rhema admissions page |
| JAMB’s O’level rule | Five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology | JAMB brochure |
| Exams accepted | WASSCE or NECO SSCE | Rhema admissions page |
| Sittings | Not stated | Rhema admissions page |
Rhema’s page leaves the fifth subject open as “other relevant science subjects”, while JAMB’s brochure names Biology. Make Biology your fifth credit and you meet both. In the UTME, I would take Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics: those are the subjects first-year chemistry leans on most, and the combination also keeps Computer Science within reach if you change your mind. The brochure has no Rhema remark on UTME or O’level for Chemistry.
Direct Entry into Chemistry at Rhema
Direct Entry candidates join at 200 level with the five O’level credits plus one of these, according to Rhema’s admissions page:
- At least two relevant A-level GCE passes (Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics or relevant sciences)
- IJMB
- NCE
- ND at upper credit
- HND at lower credit
- A first degree in a related field
JAMB’s general rule is two A-level passes in Chemistry and one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology, or an ND or NCE with good grades. The brochure then adds a remark that Rhema (along with OAU, OOU, UNIBEN, EKSU and BU) does not accept Biology. In practice, an A-level or IJMB candidate for Rhema Chemistry should present Chemistry with Physics or Mathematics. Chemistry plus Biology alone will not meet Rhema’s rule.
Rhema Post-UTME screening for Chemistry
Rhema has not published a screening date, procedure or fee for Chemistry in any source I reached. The single screening notice I could confirm, reprinted by Myschool on 10 September 2025, covered MBBS and Nursing candidates on 16 September 2025 at Rhema’s Academic Block in Aba, with extra centres in Abuja (Gwarimpa) and Lagos (Ojodu Berger).
Blogs announcing a test for all Rhema courses cite no Rhema notice. Apply on the portal when it opens and call the admissions office (08107159322) to ask whether Chemistry applicants will be screened.
Worked example (illustrative only)
Rhema publishes no aggregate formula. This example measures scores against the 150 floor and my 175 target and, in case a test is held, uses the 50:50 method many Nigerian universities apply (UTME divided by 8, plus half the screening percentage). The method is my illustration only.
- Emeka: UTME 178 in English, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics, with five O’level credits including Biology. He is 28 above the floor and just over my target.
- If there is a test: Emeka scores 62%. 178 divided by 8 is 22.25; half of 62 is 31. His illustrative aggregate is 53.25.
- Chinyere: UTME 158 (19.75) and 76% at screening (38), for 57.75. Her stronger test result puts her ahead.
- Obinna (Direct Entry): A-level passes in Chemistry and Biology. Rhema does not accept Biology for Chemistry Direct Entry, so he needs a Physics or Mathematics pass, or an ND or IJMB route, to qualify.
How to apply for Chemistry at Rhema, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
- Register for the UTME: choose Chemistry with English, Chemistry and two of Physics, Biology and Mathematics, and select Rhema University. If you picked another school, do a JAMB change of institution.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB office or accredited CBT centre, with your WAEC or NECO result.
- Apply on Rhema’s portal: on rhemauniversity.edu.ng go to Admissions, click “Apply Now”, sign in, fill the form and print the acknowledgement.
- Confirm screening: call 08107159322 or 08076846648 and ask whether Chemistry candidates sit a test that year.
- Accept on CAPS: at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, select Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB gave four weeks to accept offers in 2026. Our JAMB CAPS guide covers each status.
- Pay acceptance and clear: Rhema’s acceptance fee is not published in any source I reached. Get the amount from the university, pay through official channels, then complete clearance with your original documents.
Warning
Blogs quote different prices for Rhema’s admission form. Pay only the amount on Rhema’s own portal or from its admissions office, and ignore anyone promising a guaranteed place. A genuine offer always appears on JAMB CAPS.
Studying Chemistry at Rhema University
Rhema University is a private Christian university in Aba, established in 2010 according to its own news page. It offers a B.Sc. in Chemistry, described as Pure/Applied. The admissions page does not explain how the pure and applied options are split, and it does not give the duration. In Nigeria the degree normally takes four years from 100 level and three through Direct Entry.
Accreditation
Rhema’s admissions page says all its courses are accredited by the NUC. I found no published NUC result specific to Chemistry at Rhema, so the current status is not confirmed. Ask the department to show you its latest NUC result before you pay fees.
What you study
- 100 level: general chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology and general studies.
- Core branches: organic, inorganic, physical and analytical chemistry.
- Laboratory work: titration, synthesis, instrumental analysis and spectroscopy.
- Applied topics: industrial and environmental chemistry, polymers and petroleum chemistry.
- Final stage: industrial training (SIWES) and a research project.
Chemistry graduates work in quality control and analytical laboratories, oil and gas, paints and plastics, food and beverage firms, water treatment, environmental agencies and teaching. Professional registration with the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON) is the usual next step for practising chemists.

Who Chemistry at Rhema suits
- A good fit: you enjoy calculations and practical work, you scored between 150 and 190, and you want a science degree with industry jobs at the end of it.
- Also a fit: you hold an ND in a science field or A-levels in Chemistry with Physics or Mathematics and want to enter at 200 level.
- Think again: your real goal is Medicine or Pharmacy and Chemistry is only a stop-gap. Rhema does not list Pharmacy, and changing course after admission is never guaranteed.
- Ask first: you need a specific option (industrial or pure). Rhema has not published how the Pure/Applied split works, so ask the department before you accept.
Mistakes Chemistry applicants make
- Treating 150 as admission: it is only the minimum to be considered.
- Dropping Chemistry from the UTME: it is the one compulsory subject besides English.
- Using A-level Biology for Direct Entry: Rhema does not accept it for Chemistry.
- No O’level on CAPS: Rhema cannot send an offer without it.
- Stopping at CAPS acceptance: acceptance fee and clearance still follow.
