No. For 2027/2028 you cannot start a fresh degree through FCE Eha-Amufu’s UNN affiliation. In its June 2026 NCE registration guidelines, JAMB stopped admission into every affiliated degree programme in colleges of education from the 2026/2027 session, and it barred all 100 and 200 level entry into colleges of education. Everyone who joins Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu now comes in through the NCE. If you want a B.Ed, the realistic routes are an NCE at Eha-Amufu followed by Direct Entry into a university, or the UTME straight into a university such as UNN.
2027/2028 update: FCE Eha-Amufu admission requirements and entry rules usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the rules on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official position, JAMB’s June 2026 guidelines for the 2026/2027 session. If JAMB or the college changes anything for 2027/2028, we will update this page.
For years the college ran B.Ed programmes awarded by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and many blogs still advertise them with old cut-off marks. This guide explains what JAMB changed, what happened to candidates caught by it in 2026, the courses the college used to offer at degree level, and the two routes to a teaching degree that are open to you now, with requirements, a worked example and the steps.

What JAMB changed for affiliated degrees in colleges of education
The rule sits in JAMB’s NCE and agriculture ND registration guidelines, issued by the Registrar’s office in June 2026 and reported by Daily Trust on 21 June 2026, The Guardian and others. The guidelines state: “No admission into any affiliated programme in any College of Education from 2026/7 Session.” They add that no admission into 100 or 200 level is allowed in any college of education, and that all entrants come through the NCE.
That covers FCE Eha-Amufu’s UNN-affiliated B.Ed, because it is an affiliated programme in a college of education. It also covers any 200 level Direct Entry into the college. I found nothing showing that FCE Eha-Amufu is one of the colleges NUC approved to run their own degrees: a ThisDay report of 29 December 2025 says NUC approved 15 federal colleges of education, but it names only FCE Yola.
What happened to candidates who applied in 2026
Daily Trust reported the options JAMB gave to 2026 candidates who had chosen an affiliated degree in a college of education:
- Direct Entry candidates: change institution free of charge, move to the parent university, or make their second choice the first choice.
- UTME candidates: the same three options, or a switch to the NCE.
- Deadline: the changes had to be done by 22 June 2026.
JAMB’s NCE guide also says that 2026 UTME candidates whose first choice was a college of education were moved to NCE for a ₦700 charge, and that a candidate recommended for NCE has any UTME or Direct Entry process suspended.
What about students already on the degree?
JAMB’s statement deals with new admissions. It does not say what happens to students who were admitted to the UNN-affiliated programme in earlier years. If you are one of them, get your position in writing from the college’s degree programme office and UNN, and do not rely on social media posts.
FCE Eha-Amufu degree cut-off mark history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2027/2028 | No degree admission | JAMB’s ban on affiliated degree admission in colleges of education, unless JAMB changes it | Planning position based on the 2026/2027 rule |
| 2026/2027 | No degree admission | Affiliated degree programmes in colleges of education closed to new entrants | Official (JAMB guidelines, June 2026) |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | National minimum UTME score for universities (relevant if you go straight to a university) | Official (policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | National minimum UTME score for universities, which applied to degree admission | Official (JAMB, July 2025) |
| Undated blog figure | “usually 160 or above” | Figure a blog gave for the college’s UNN-affiliated degree | Unofficial; no source given |
If a site sells you an “FCE Eha-Amufu degree form 2027/2028” with a cut-off of 160, it is selling a programme JAMB has closed to new entrants.
Degree courses the college used to run with UNN
According to Wikipedia, the college’s UNN-affiliated degrees covered the subjects below. Each now has an NCE route at the college that you can take first and then carry into a university degree.

Route 1: NCE at Eha-Amufu, then Direct Entry
This is now the only way to study at FCE Eha-Amufu and still end with a degree. You spend three years on the NCE, then apply to a university through JAMB Direct Entry, usually into 200 level, which makes the degree three more years.
| Stage | Requirement | Status |
|---|---|---|
| NCE entry | Four O’level credits in not more than two sittings, including English and Mathematics, two relevant to the course; no UTME needed | College advert 2021/2022; national policy 2026 |
| NCE length | 3 years regular; sandwich over 5 long vacations | College advert 2021/2022 |
| Direct Entry grade | NCE at merit level in relevant subjects is the usual university requirement | JAMB brochure entries (Myschool reprints) |
| UNN Direct Entry examples | NCE merit in Home Economics (three-year degree); NCE merit in Physical and Health Education | Myschool brochure reprints |
| O’level for Direct Entry | Universities still check O’level; most want English and Mathematics credits | University rules vary |
The Direct Entry examples come from Myschool’s reprints of the JAMB brochure for Home Economics and Education and Physical and Health Education. Check the brochure entry for your own course before you register for Direct Entry.
Why I like this route
- No UTME: four credits get you into the NCE.
- A qualification in hand early: after three years you can already teach and register with TRCN.
- A strong Direct Entry file: a merit NCE in your teaching subject matches what education faculties look for.
The cost is time. NCE plus a three-year Direct Entry degree is about six years, compared with four for a straight B.Ed.
Route 2: UTME straight into a university
If your UTME score is strong, applying directly to a university is faster. The national minimum for universities in 2026/2027 was 150. UNN, which awarded the college’s degrees, declared 200 at the 2026 policy meeting and accepted screening forms from 160, as our UNN guides explain.
- UNN Science Education cut-off mark (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Integrated Science)
- UNN Arts Education cut-off mark
- UNN Social Science Education cut-off mark
- UNN Business Education cut-off mark
- UNN Agricultural Education cut-off mark
In Enugu State, ESUT is another option; see our ESUT Education Biology guide and ESUT Education Mathematics guide.
Route 3: waiting for a university upgrade
A House of Representatives bill to turn the college into a Federal University of Education passed second reading. I found no third reading, Senate passage or presidential assent. The NCCE accredited colleges list (checked 29 October 2026) still shows it as an open federal college of education. If the upgrade becomes law, the new university could admit degree students in its own name, but nobody can promise that for 2027/2028. Do not plan your admission around it.
Which route should you take? A worked example
These two candidates are invented to show how I would advise them.
Nnamdi wants to teach Chemistry. He scored 212 in the 2027 UTME with Chemistry, Biology and Physics, and has five credits including English and Mathematics. He clears the 150 national minimum and is above UNN’s 2026 declared 200, so I would put UNN Science Education (Chemistry) first and keep the NCE as a fallback.
Chiamaka wants Business Education. She scored 141, below the university minimum, but has six credits including English, Mathematics, Commerce and Financial Accounting. She should register for NCE Business Education at FCE Eha-Amufu with no UTME, finish with a merit, then go for Direct Entry into a B.Sc. (Ed) Business Education. Note that once she is recommended for NCE, JAMB suspends her UTME process.
Steps for the NCE route to a degree
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
- Buy your O’level verification code: JAMB’s 2026 guide put it at ₦1,500 for one sitting and ₦2,000 for two.
- Register for NCE with JAMB: pick FCE Eha-Amufu and your course. The 2026 application was ₦3,500 plus a ₦700 CBT centre charge. If you chose another school first, do a JAMB change of institution.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: the college proposes candidates on CAPS and the Provost recommends them; awaiting-result candidates cannot be proposed until upload.
- Apply on the college portal: fill the college form and attend its selection exercise. The 2021 college form was ₦2,000; no newer fee was published.
- Accept on CAPS: at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, within four weeks of the offer (the 2026/2027 rule). Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and register: pay only through the college portal. A blog quotes a ₦5,000 acceptance fee, but that figure is unconfirmed.
- Finish with a merit, then register for Direct Entry: in your final NCE year, check the JAMB brochure for your target degree and register during JAMB’s Direct Entry window. Our JAMB 2027 registration guide covers timing.
Warning
JAMB has stopped all degree admission into colleges of education, and admissions outside CAPS are illegal. Anyone selling an FCE Eha-Amufu or UNN-affiliated degree form, or a “direct 200 level” place at the college, is selling something JAMB will not recognise. Check every offer on your JAMB CAPS page.
FCE Eha-Amufu degree programme: frequently asked questions
Is FCE Eha-Amufu degree form 2027/2028 out? There is no new degree form to expect. JAMB stopped admission into affiliated degree programmes in colleges of education from 2026/2027, so new candidates enter FCE Eha-Amufu through the NCE.
What is the cut-off mark for FCE Eha-Amufu degree programmes affiliated to UNN? None applies to new candidates, because the programmes are closed to new entrants. The “160 or above” figure online comes from an unsourced blog.
Can I do Direct Entry into 200 level at FCE Eha-Amufu? No. JAMB’s June 2026 guidelines say no admission into 100 or 200 level is allowed in any college of education; take Direct Entry into a university instead.
Can I get a degree after my NCE at FCE Eha-Amufu? Yes. An NCE at merit level is a standard Direct Entry qualification for B.Ed and B.Sc. (Ed) degrees, usually into 200 level at a university such as UNN.
Sources and updates
The end of affiliated degree admission and the bar on 100 and 200 level entry into colleges of education come from JAMB’s June 2026 NCE and ND registration guidelines, as reported by Daily Trust (21 June 2026) and The Guardian, together with JAMB’s NCE registration guide (verification code, ₦3,500 application, ₦700 charge, CAPS rules). The UTME exemption for NCE, the 150 university minimum for 2026/2027 and the four-week acceptance window come from the 11 May 2026 policy meeting as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria, VON, ICIR and TheNigeriaLawyer; the 2025/2026 minimum of 150 is from JAMB as reported by Nairametrics (8 July 2025). UNN’s declared 200 and 160 screening floor are from the sources cited in our UNN guides (UNN’s 13 July 2026 screening notice and Vanguard). The former degree list and UNN affiliation are from Wikipedia. The college’s NCE entry rules are from its 2021/2022 advert as reprinted by Myschool. Its status is from the NCCE accredited colleges list and the upgrade bill from VON. The NUC dual-mandate approvals are from ThisDay (29 December 2025). Direct Entry examples are from Myschool’s reprints of the JAMB brochure. The “160 or above” degree figure and ₦5,000 acceptance fee are from blogs and are unofficial. Checked on 29 October 2026; this page will be updated if JAMB or the college changes the rules for 2027/2028.
