The CCU Radiography cut-off mark is 150 in the UTME, the JAMB national minimum for universities in 2026/2027. Coal City University, Enugu, has not published a separate cut-off for Radiography or for any other department, and it did not declare its own minimum at JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting. With 150 or more, the right four subjects and CCU on your form, you can be considered.
2027/2028 update: CCU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Radiography is on JAMB’s course list for CCU under the short name Radiography. CCU itself calls the degree B.Sc. Radiography and Radiation Science, and the NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 list shows CCU’s “Radiology and Radiation Science” with Full accreditation and a maturity date of 2030. One gap remains: the Faculty of Health Sciences that runs it does not appear among the three faculties on CCU’s main website menu, and I could not find a published Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) approval. This guide covers the subjects, O’level and Direct Entry rules, screening, a safe target score and the CAPS steps.

AbsTechConnect, a blog, gave CCU’s cut-off as 150 in May 2026. It cited no CCU document, so I treat it as the national minimum restated.
Safe target score for Radiography at CCU (my advice)
This is my own reading, not a CCU rule. Radiography is a professional health degree, and in Enugu ESUT set 200 for it in 2026/2027. A private university can admit from 150, but strong candidates who missed Medicine or Nursing elsewhere often move into Radiography, so I would not rely on a score in the 150s.
| Your UTME score | My read for CCU Radiography |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for UTME entry; consider CCU’s JUPEB route |
| 150 to 169 | Eligible; apply early and keep a second course ready |
| 170 to 199 | Comfortable for CCU if your five science credits are complete |
| 200 and above | Strong; ESUT is also within reach |
My target for a 2027 candidate would be 180 or more, with all five O’level credits in one sitting.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Radiography at CCU
The JAMB brochure entry for Radiography carries remarks for UNILAG, ABU, UNICAL, UNIMAID, UNIZIK and UNN. None mentions CCU, so the general rule applies.
| Requirement | Radiography at CCU |
|---|---|
| JAMB course name to register | Radiography (Coal City University) |
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology |
| O’level | Five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB (CCU has not published its own list) |
| Sittings | Not stated by CCU; one sitting is safest |
| Direct Entry | Two A-level passes from Physics, Chemistry and Biology |
Why Physics matters so much here
Radiography is applied physics in a hospital: X-ray production, radiation dose, ultrasound and magnetic resonance all rest on it. JAMB fixes Physics in both the UTME and the O’level, with no substitute. If you scraped a C6 in Physics, expect the first two years of radiation physics to be hard, and revise it properly before you start.
Direct Entry and JUPEB
CCU’s 2026/2027 form was open to Direct Entry and transfer candidates as well as UTME candidates, according to AbsTechConnect. The brochure’s general Direct Entry rule is two A-level passes from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. CCU’s August 2023 health sciences post also says it admits through JUPEB for candidates who did not write JAMB or scored low; it does not say at which level, so ask before you register for JUPEB.
How CCU screening works for Radiography
| Detail | What is known for 2026/2027 |
|---|---|
| Advert | CCU invited applications for its undergraduate programmes (Myschool reprint, 18 May 2026). The reprinted page listed only the science faculty’s courses. |
| Who could apply | UTME, Direct Entry and transfer candidates (AbsTechConnect, May 2026) |
| Portal | portal.ccu.edu.ng |
| Form fee | ₦2,000 according to AbsTechConnect; not confirmed by CCU |
| Test, date and format | Not published |
| Aggregate formula | Not published |
| Other entry routes | JUPEB, IJMB and pre-degree forms advertised for 2026/2027 |
Worked example
Since CCU has not published a screening test or aggregate, the useful sums are your margin over the minimum and against my target, plus an O’level check.
Take Kosisochukwu, who scored 186 with B2 in English, B3 in Mathematics, C4 in Biology, B3 in Chemistry and C4 in Physics from one NECO sitting.
- Eligibility: 186 minus 150 = 36. He clears the minimum.
- Against my target: 186 minus 180 = 6. He is in the comfortable range.
- O’level check: all five named subjects at credit level. He qualifies.
- Advice: apply early on the CCU portal, upload his result to CAPS, and accept quickly when the offer appears.
Compare Ifeoma, who scored 205 but wrote Mathematics instead of Physics in the UTME. Her score is excellent, yet her subject combination does not match Radiography, so CCU cannot admit her into it this session. She could take a JAMB change of course to Microbiology or Biochemistry, whose UTME rules accept Mathematics, and rewrite the UTME with Physics next year if she still wants Radiography.
Admission odds and advice
- The score floor is low, the subject rule is not: most refusals for Radiography come from a wrong UTME subject or a missing Physics credit.
- Ask about clinical training: radiography students need hospital imaging departments for their postings. Ask CCU where its students train.
- Make CCU your first choice so CCU can propose you on CAPS.
- Remember the date: JAMB fixed 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities.
Other Radiography options in Enugu
| University | Minimum UTME score (2026/2027) | Our guide |
|---|---|---|
| ESUT (Medical Radiography) | 200 | ESUT Radiography cut-off mark |
| UNN (Medical Radiography and Radiological Sciences) | 160 to screen | UNN Radiography cut-off mark |
| SUMAS, Igbo-Eno (Radiography and Radiation Science) | 150 | SUMAS Radiography cut-off mark |
Is CCU a sensible choice for Radiography?
I think it can be. If your score sits between 150 and 199, ESUT is closed to you, and UNN is a long shot for a popular health course. CCU’s floor is 150 and the NUC lists its programme as Full. The trade-offs are cost, because CCU is private and does not publish its fees online, and the unanswered RRBN question. Get the fee schedule and the RRBN position from the admissions office before you accept.
How to apply for Radiography at CCU, step by step
- Profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to it.
- UTME registration: choose Coal City University and “Radiography”, with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- O’level on CAPS: upload your result at a JAMB-accredited centre once it is released.
- CCU application: apply at portal.ccu.edu.ng, pay the fee the portal shows and keep your printout.
- Screening: watch the portal and ccu.edu.ng for any screening date, since none has been published.
- Accept on CAPS: at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept within JAMB’s four-week window. Our JAMB CAPS guide walks through it.
- Acceptance fee: CCU has not published its acceptance or school fees in any source I could open. Pay only what the portal invoice shows.
Warning
Some forum and classified posts advertise “CCU forms” with private phone numbers. CCU’s application runs on portal.ccu.edu.ng, and every genuine admission shows on JAMB CAPS. JAMB has said admissions outside CAPS are illegal. Do not pay anyone who promises a Radiography slot.
Studying Radiography at CCU
CCU’s Health Science page, last updated on 1 February 2024, describes a Faculty of Health Sciences with Departments of Nursing Science, Physiotherapy, Radiography and Radiation Science, and Medical Laboratory Sciences. A CCU news post from 30 August 2023 advertised the B.Sc. Radiography and Radiation Science from the university’s site at Emene, Enugu. Neither page gives a curriculum, staff list or duration.
Accreditation
- NUC: the NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 publication (September 2026) lists “Radiology and Radiation Science” under CCU’s Allied Health Sciences with Full status and a maturity date of 2030. Full accreditation runs for five years, so the programme should not need another NUC visit before 2030.
- RRBN: the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria registers radiographers and inspects training programmes. I found no published RRBN list that includes or excludes CCU, so this is not confirmed. Ask CCU for its RRBN approval letter.
Degree, duration and what you study
Nigerian radiography degrees usually take five years. CCU has not published its own duration. The usual pattern is:
- Early years: physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and general studies, then anatomy and physiology.
- Middle years: radiation physics, radiographic equipment, radiographic techniques, image processing and radiation protection.
- Final years: ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine and radiotherapy principles, clinical postings, research methods and a project.
Careers
Radiographers work in hospital imaging departments, diagnostic centres, oncology units, and with equipment suppliers as application specialists. To practise in Nigeria you register with the RRBN after graduating, which is why the board’s view of your programme matters.

Mistakes that cost Radiography applicants a CCU place
- Mathematics in place of Physics in the UTME: not accepted for Radiography.
- Missing Mathematics or Physics credit at O’level: both are required.
- Choosing another university first: use a JAMB change of institution if you now want CCU.
- Ignoring a CAPS offer: an offer not accepted within four weeks can lapse.
- Paying agents: use the CCU portal only.
CCU Radiography cut-off mark: frequently asked questions
Can I get Radiography at Coal City University with 160? Yes, 160 is above the 150 minimum and CCU has published no higher figure. You still need credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry, and I would aim for 180 to be safe.
Is Radiography at CCU accredited by NUC? Yes. The NUC’s 1990 to 2025 results list shows CCU’s Radiology and Radiation Science as Full, maturing in 2030. RRBN approval is not confirmed.
What subjects do I need in JAMB for Radiography at CCU? Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. There is no option to replace Physics with Mathematics.
Can I use JUPEB to enter Radiography at CCU? CCU says it admits through its JUPEB programme for candidates who did not write JAMB or scored low. It has not said whether every health course takes JUPEB entrants, so confirm before you register.
