CCU Physiotherapy Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 & Admission Requirements

Coal City University’s Physiotherapy cut-off is JAMB’s 150, with no departmental figure. See the subjects, O’level and Direct Entry rules, a safe target score, and why you should confirm the programme’s NUC and MRTB status before paying.

The CCU Physiotherapy cut-off mark is 150 in the UTME, the JAMB national minimum for universities in 2026/2027. Coal City University, Enugu, has not published a separate cut-off for Physiotherapy or for any other department, and it was not among the universities that declared their own minimum at JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting. So 150 is the floor, but for a six-year Doctor of Physiotherapy degree I would not plan with anything close to it.

2027/2028 update: CCU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Before you register, know where this programme stands. Physiotherapy is on JAMB’s course list for CCU under the name Physiotherapy, and CCU’s own Health Science web page names a Department of Physiotherapy offering the Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT). But the faculty that houses it does not appear in the three faculties on CCU’s main website menu, and the NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 list has no Physiotherapy entry for CCU. I also found no Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Board (MRTB) approval for it. Treat the programme’s current status as unconfirmed and get written confirmation from CCU’s admissions office that it is running and approved before you pay acceptance. If you want a CCU health course with a published NUC result, Radiography and Radiation Science is listed as Full.

One blog, AbsTechConnect, gave CCU’s cut-off as 150 in May 2026 without citing any CCU document. I read that as the national minimum repeated, not a separate CCU decision.

Is CCU’s Physiotherapy programme running and approved?

I checked six sources for the programme’s status.

MRTB accredited training institutions pageCCU not listed; the page is dated November 2017 and shows only five universities

An NUC accreditation result usually comes only after a programme has students in its later years. A missing row can mean the programme is new and has not yet had an accreditation visit, or that it has not started. CCU has not said which. The MRTB, which registers physiotherapists in Nigeria, does not keep a current university list online, so its silence proves nothing either way. You should still ask, because you need an MRTB-recognised degree to register and practise after graduation.

Ask CCU three things in writing: whether Physiotherapy is admitting in your session, whether the NUC has approved it (and the date of its first accreditation visit), and whether the MRTB has inspected it.

Safe target score for Physiotherapy at CCU (my advice)

This is my own reading, not a CCU rule. Physiotherapy draws the same candidates who apply for Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy, and in Enugu the public universities set it high: ESUT put Physiotherapy at 220 for 2026/2027. A private university can admit from 150, but a programme with few places and strong applicants rarely fills from the bottom of the range.

Your UTME scoreMy read for CCU Physiotherapy
Below 150Not eligible for UTME entry; consider CCU’s JUPEB route
150 to 179Eligible on paper; apply, but have a second course ready
180 to 199Reasonable if your five science credits are clean
200 and aboveComfortable for CCU, and keeps other Enugu options open

My target for a 2027 candidate would be 200 or more, with all five O’level credits in one sitting.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Physiotherapy at CCU

The JAMB brochure entry for Physiotherapy has remarks for UNILORIN, UNILAG and UI only. There is no CCU remark, so the general rule applies to you.

RequirementPhysiotherapy at CCU
JAMB course name to registerPhysiotherapy (Coal City University)
UTME subjectsUse of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology
O’levelFive credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO or NABTEB (CCU has not published its own list)
SittingsNot stated by CCU; one sitting is safest
Direct EntryTwo A-level passes chosen from Physics, Chemistry and Biology

No choice of subjects here

Unlike Microbiology or Biochemistry, Physiotherapy gives you no swap. Physics, Chemistry and Biology are all fixed in the UTME, and Mathematics joins them at O’level. A candidate who wrote Mathematics instead of Physics in the UTME cannot be admitted into Physiotherapy that year, even with a high score.

Direct Entry and JUPEB

CCU’s 2026/2027 form was open to UTME, Direct Entry and transfer candidates, according to AbsTechConnect. CCU itself says, in its August 2023 health sciences post, that it admits through its JUPEB programme for people who did not write JAMB or scored low. That post did not say which level JUPEB entrants join or whether every health course takes them, so ask before you pay for JUPEB with Physiotherapy in mind.

Worked example

CCU has not published a screening test or aggregate formula, so the useful sums are your margin over the minimum, your margin against my target, and an O’level check.

Take Chidinma, who scored 212 with B3 in English, B2 in Mathematics, B3 in Biology, C4 in Chemistry and C5 in Physics from one WAEC sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 212 minus 150 = 62. She clears the minimum easily.
  2. Against my target: 212 minus 200 = 12. She is in the comfortable range.
  3. O’level check: all five named subjects at credit level. She qualifies.
  4. Status check: before paying acceptance, she asks CCU for written confirmation that Physiotherapy is admitting and approved.

Compare Obinna, who scored 183 but has a D7 in Physics. His score is above the floor, but he is one credit short of the brochure rule. He should rewrite Physics in the next GCE and, for this session, consider a course whose O’level rule he already meets.

Admission odds and advice

  • Status first, score second: at CCU your score is rarely the problem above 180. The open question is whether the programme is approved, so settle that before anything else.
  • Keep a public option alive: with 220 or more, ESUT’s Doctor of Physiotherapy is within reach; with 160 or more, UNN’s Medical Rehabilitation will screen you.
  • Make CCU your first choice if you settle on it, so CCU can propose you on CAPS.
  • Remember the date: JAMB fixed 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities.

UNN (Medical Rehabilitation)160 to screenUNN Medical Rehabilitation cut-off mark
SUMAS, Igbo-Eno (Doctor of Physiotherapy)150SUMAS Physiotherapy cut-off mark

I think CCU only makes sense for Physiotherapy if it confirms approval in writing. If it cannot, SUMAS admits from the same 150 floor and is a state university, which usually means lower fees.

How to apply for Physiotherapy at CCU, step by step

  1. Profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to it.
  2. UTME registration: choose Coal City University and “Physiotherapy”, with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  3. O’level on CAPS: upload your result at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as it is released. CCU cannot recommend you without it.
  4. CCU application: apply at portal.ccu.edu.ng, pay the fee the portal shows and keep your printout.
  5. Screening: follow the portal and ccu.edu.ng for any screening date, since none has been published.
  6. Accept on CAPS: at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept within JAMB’s four-week window. Our JAMB CAPS guide shows each screen.
  7. Acceptance fee: CCU has not published its acceptance or school fees in any source I could open. Pay only what the portal invoice shows, and only after the status check above.

Warning

Forum and classified posts sometimes advertise “CCU forms” with private phone numbers. CCU’s application runs on portal.ccu.edu.ng, and every genuine admission shows on JAMB CAPS. JAMB has said admissions done outside CAPS are illegal. Do not pay anyone who promises a Physiotherapy slot.

Studying Physiotherapy at CCU

CCU describes its health programmes in two places: a news post from 30 August 2023 titled “Study health sciences in a globally focused university”, and a Health Science page last updated on 1 February 2024. Both name the Doctor of Physiotherapy. The page speaks of blended learning, field exposure and training graduates as health entrepreneurs, but it gives no curriculum, duration or staff list for the department.

Degree and duration

Nigerian universities now train physiotherapists through the Doctor of Physiotherapy, which usually runs for six years. CCU has not published its own duration, so confirm it. The degree is clinical, which means you will need access to a teaching hospital or approved clinical sites in the later years. Ask CCU where its students do their clinical postings.

What you study

CCU has not put its curriculum online, so this is the usual Nigerian pattern for the degree:

  • Early years: physics, chemistry, biology and general studies, then anatomy, physiology and biochemistry.
  • Middle years: biomechanics, exercise therapy, electrotherapy, kinesiology and the basics of pathology and pharmacology.
  • Clinical years: musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiopulmonary and paediatric physiotherapy, supervised clinical postings, research methods and a project.

Careers

Physiotherapists work in hospitals, private clinics, sports teams, orthopaedic and stroke rehabilitation units, and community health. In Nigeria you need registration with the MRTB to practise, and a one-year internship usually follows graduation. Without an approved degree you cannot register, so approval matters more here than for a non-clinical course.

For UTME revision, use the JAMB Biology syllabus and the JAMB Chemistry syllabus. If you already chose another university, our guide to JAMB change of institution explains how to switch to CCU.

Mistakes that cost Physiotherapy applicants a place

  • Writing Mathematics instead of Physics in the UTME: Physiotherapy accepts only Physics, Chemistry and Biology with English.
  • Paying before confirming approval: a clinical degree without NUC and MRTB approval can leave you unable to register.
  • O’level not uploaded: CAPS will not let CCU recommend you.
  • Ignoring a CAPS offer: an offer not accepted within four weeks can lapse.
  • Trusting agents: use the CCU portal only.

CCU Physiotherapy cut-off mark: frequently asked questions

Can I study Physiotherapy at Coal City University with 150? 150 is the minimum CCU works with, and it has published no higher figure. I would still aim for 200, and you must confirm the programme is admitting before you pay.

Is Physiotherapy at CCU accredited by NUC? I could not confirm it. The NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 list has no Physiotherapy row for CCU, and I found no MRTB approval, so ask CCU for written evidence.

What is the JAMB subject combination for Physiotherapy at CCU? Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. At O’level you need credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

How many years is Physiotherapy at Coal City University? CCU calls the degree a Doctor of Physiotherapy, which usually runs for six years in Nigeria. CCU has not published its own duration.

Sources and updates

The 150 minimum, the 30 November 2026 private-university deadline, the four-week acceptance window and the warning on admissions outside CAPS come from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). The 2025 figure is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025), and the absence of a CCU-declared figure is based on News Central’s 2026 list. The course name and subject rules come from Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s CCU course list and the JAMB brochure entry for Physiotherapy, checked on 30 October 2026. The Doctor of Physiotherapy and the Faculty of Health Sciences are named on CCU’s Health Science page and its 30 August 2023 news post on ccu.edu.ng. CCU’s Allied Health accreditation rows are from the NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 publication (September 2026), and the MRTB position is from the board’s accredited training institutions page. The 2026/2027 advert is from Myschool’s reprint (18 May 2026); the form fee and applicant groups are from AbsTechConnect and are unofficial. Comparison figures come from the ESUT, UNN and SUMAS 2026/2027 notices covered in our linked guides. Safe target scores and worked examples are my advice. Checked on 30 October 2026.
