The ESUT cut off mark for Physiotherapy for 2026/2027 is 220 in the UTME. Enugu State University of Science and Technology set 220 for the Doctor of Physiotherapy in its official 2026/2027 Post-UTME advert, posted on 4 July 2026 and signed by the Registrar, Ambrose G. Ugwu. Physiotherapy sits in the same tier as Pharmacy and the Doctor of Optometry.
2027/2028 update: ESUT cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
220 was the score you needed to register for ESUT’s screening for Physiotherapy. The final merit score for the course is decided after screening and ESUT does not publish it. This guide gives the official figures, what is and isn’t known about Physiotherapy at ESUT, a safe target score (my advice), subject and O’level rules, the online screening with a worked example, the application and CAPS steps, and what the six-year Doctor of Physiotherapy usually involves.
ESUT Physiotherapy cut off mark 2027/2028 at a glance

| JAMB national minimum for universities | 150 | Official (JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| ESUT departmental merit cut-off for Physiotherapy | Not published | No official figure |
| Degree | Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT) | ESUT advert |
| Faculty | Faculty of Allied Health Sciences | ESUT advert |
| Screening | Online only, no aptitude test; ₦2,000 | Official (advert) |
| Screening window | 7 July to 15 August 2026 | Closed |

Physiotherapy cut-off history at ESUT
| Session | Figure | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 220 minimum UTME to apply | Official ESUT advert |
| 2025/2026 | Not listed | Physiotherapy does not appear in the reprint of ESUT’s 2025/2026 screening notice (DTW Tutorials, 30 July 2025) |
In the 2025/2026 cut-off groups, as reprinted, Pharmacy stood alone at 220. ESUT’s 2026/2027 advert added the Doctor of Physiotherapy and the Doctor of Optometry to that tier. So there is no earlier ESUT Physiotherapy figure to compare, and any “ESUT Physiotherapy cut-off” from before 2026 that you see online did not come from an ESUT cut-off list I could find.
I also found no published report of the programme’s NUC approval date or of an accreditation visit by the NUC or the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists (Registration) Board of Nigeria, the body that registers physiotherapists. The course is open for 2026/2027 admission; its accreditation status is not confirmed.
Safe target score for Physiotherapy at ESUT (my advice)
This is my judgement as an adviser, not an ESUT rule. Physiotherapy is popular with candidates who wanted Medicine, intakes are limited by clinical training places, and ESUT put it in its second-highest tier. A newer programme may draw a slightly smaller field at first, but I would not bet on that.
| Your 2026 UTME score | My read for ESUT Physiotherapy |
|---|---|
| Below 220 | Not eligible for Physiotherapy at ESUT this session |
| 220 to 234 | Eligible, but a place is a long shot |
| 235 to 249 | Possible with strong O’level grades |
| 250 to 269 | Competitive |
| 270 and above | Strong |
For a 2027 attempt I would aim for 250 or more, with A1 or B2 in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Where Physiotherapy sits among ESUT’s health courses
ESUT’s health courses all use the same four UTME subjects in JAMB’s usual combinations, so your one UTME result decides which of them you can apply for. These are the 2026/2027 minimums from the advert.
| Course | ESUT minimum UTME 2026/2027 |
|---|---|
| Medicine and Surgery | 240 |
| Nursing Sciences | 240 |
| Pharmacy | 220 |
| Doctor of Physiotherapy | 220 |
| Doctor of Optometry | 220 |
| Medical Laboratory Sciences | 200 |
| Medical Radiography | 200 |
| Anatomy | 180 |
| Public Health | 180 |
A candidate with 230 cannot apply for Medicine or Nursing at ESUT, but can choose Physiotherapy, Optometry or Pharmacy. Choose the profession you would actually practise. If ESUT later moves you through a CAPS Transfer Approval, it will usually be to a course lower on this table.
Catchment
ESUT does not publish a catchment list. As an Enugu State Government university, Enugu indigenes are its primary catchment, but it admits candidates from every state. No merit, catchment or ELDS split has been published, so the federal 45/35/20 guideline should not be assumed.
UTME subject combination and O’level for ESUT Physiotherapy
| Requirement | Doctor of Physiotherapy at ESUT |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology (JAMB’s usual combination; confirm on the JAMB e-brochure) |
| O’level | Five credits: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO, NABTEB |
| Sittings | Not stated in ESUT’s advert; one sitting is the safest plan |
| Awaiting results | Accepted for May/June 2026 results released by 30 September 2026 |
| Direct Entry | Screened online; ESUT has not published DE entry requirements for Physiotherapy |
| Interview or portfolio | None in the advert |
Physics is not optional here. Biomechanics, electrotherapy and exercise physiology all lean on it, and JAMB’s usual combination lists it for the UTME and O’level. ESUT’s own brochure remark was not available to me, so confirm the entry on your e-Facility profile before you register.
The advert also says names must match on your O’level certificates, UTME result and other documents.
How ESUT screening works for Physiotherapy
The 2026/2027 screening was online only. ESUT held no aptitude test and no physical screening. Candidates registered, paid ₦2,000 and had their O’level on JAMB CAPS.
| Detail | ESUT 2026/2027 screening |
|---|---|
| Who could apply | Candidates who chose ESUT in the 2026 UTME and met the course minimum; others after a JAMB change of institution |
| Minimum for Physiotherapy | 220 |
| Fee | ₦2,000, through Enugu State IGR Pay Direct at a bank or online by debit card |
| Dates | Tuesday 7 July to Saturday 15 August 2026 (closed) |
| O’level | Uploaded on JAMB CAPS (compulsory) |
| Direct Entry | Online; former institutions must clear DE candidates on JAMB e-Facility |
| False information | Disqualification |
Worked example for a Physiotherapy candidate
ESUT has not published an aggregate formula, and there was no test score this session. The sum that tells you something is your UTME score measured against the 220 minimum and against a safe target.
Take Somto, who scored 258 with A1, B2, B2, B3 and C4 in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 258 minus 220 = 38. She is 38 marks above the Physiotherapy minimum.
- Against my target: 258 minus 250 = 8. She is 8 marks inside the range I call competitive.
- O’level: five credits in the right subjects, one sitting, on CAPS.
- My read: a strong Physiotherapy applicant. She should still check CAPS weekly and respond quickly to any offer.
Emeka scored 229. 229 minus 220 = 9. He could register, but he would need a weak field to get Physiotherapy, and should have Anatomy or another health course in mind.
Some Nigerian universities rank by a 50:50 or 60:40 mix of UTME and Post-UTME or O’level points. ESUT has not published any such formula, and with no test there was no Post-UTME score in 2026/2027.
How to apply for Physiotherapy at ESUT
- Profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN.
- UTME registration: choose Physiotherapy with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and make ESUT your first choice. If ESUT was not your choice, a JAMB change of institution comes first.
- O’level on CAPS: compulsory under ESUT’s advert. Upload as soon as your result is out.
- Screening form: go to portal.esut.edu.ng, select 2026/2027, and under Regular Students open “2026/2027 Admission Screening Registration”. Enter your JAMB registration number and fill the form to generate an invoice.
- Pay ₦2,000: at a bank through Enugu State IGR Pay Direct with your invoice reference, or online by debit card.
- Submit and print: return, re-enter your JAMB number, complete and confirm the form, submit and print the acknowledgement slip.
- Check CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS and Admission Status. You have four weeks to accept an offer.
- Acceptance fee and clearance: ESUT has not published the acceptance fee in any source I could reach. Blogs report about ₦26,000 (₦26,100 in some reports). Confirm on the ESUT portal first.
Before you accept
ESUT has not published the accreditation status of its Doctor of Physiotherapy. If you get an offer, ask the department or ESUT admissions whether the programme is approved by the NUC and recognised by the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Board for registration of its graduates.
Myschool reported on 13 October 2026 that ESUT had put its 2026/2027 provisional admission list on JAMB CAPS. JAMB told public universities to finish admissions by 31 October 2026, so check CAPS now if you applied. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains every status message.
Studying Physiotherapy at ESUT
The Doctor of Physiotherapy sits in ESUT’s Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. ESUT’s main campus is at Agbani, and the medical and health programmes are linked to the College of Medicine and ESUT Teaching Hospital, Parklane, Enugu; ESUT has not said exactly where Physiotherapy teaching happens. Nigerian universities moved physiotherapy to the Doctor of Physiotherapy degree under the NUC’s current curriculum, and it is usually six years long. ESUT has not published its own duration.
- Early years: basic sciences, then anatomy, physiology and biochemistry.
- Physiotherapy core: biomechanics and kinesiology, exercise therapy, electrotherapy, manual therapy, and physiotherapy for musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiopulmonary and paediatric conditions.
- Clinical training: supervised work with patients in hospital physiotherapy departments.
- Licensing: registration with the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists (Registration) Board of Nigeria after graduation and internship.
- Careers: hospital physiotherapy, sports teams and clubs, private clinics, rehabilitation centres, community health, teaching and research, and work abroad after licensing exams.

Mistakes Physiotherapy applicants make at ESUT
- Using an old cut-off list: many still give ESUT a flat 160 or leave Physiotherapy out. The 2026/2027 minimum is 220.
- No Physics: it is part of JAMB’s usual combination for Physiotherapy.
- O’level missing on CAPS: ESUT requires it.
- Awaiting results that came out late: results released after 30 September 2026 were not accepted.
- Not asking about accreditation: check before you pay acceptance and school fees.
If you are trying again next year, see when JAMB 2027 registration starts and JAMB change of course.

Sources and updates
The 220 minimum for the Doctor of Physiotherapy, the faculty listing, the ₦2,000 fee, the 7 July to 15 August 2026 window, the no-test rule, the awaiting result, CAPS and Direct Entry rules and the portal steps come from ESUT’s 2026/2027 Post-UTME screening notice (4 July 2026) and the Post-UTME advert signed by the Registrar, Ambrose G. Ugwu. The 2025/2026 tiers come from DTW Tutorials’ reprint of ESUT’s 2025/2026 notice (30 July 2025). The national minimum of 150, the 31 October 2026 deadline and the four-week acceptance window come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). The admission list date is from Myschool (13 October 2026). The acceptance fee is from blogs and is unofficial. Subject requirements are JAMB’s usual ones for Physiotherapy, not an ESUT-specific remark, and the six-year duration is the usual length of the DPT in Nigeria. Checked on 29 October 2026; this page will be updated when ESUT publishes more on the programme.
