MOUAU Cut-Off Mark for Electrical and Electronics Engineering 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

MOUAU’s minimum for Electrical and Electronics Engineering is 150 in the UTME with MOUAU as first choice. See the subject combination, O’level and DE rules, how screening works, a safe target score and the CAPS steps.

The MOUAU cut off mark for Electrical and Electronics Engineering is 150 in the UTME, with MOUAU as your first choice. That is the minimum Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike set for every course in its 2026/2027 screening notice. MOUAU did not publish a separate figure for Electrical and Electronics Engineering, so 150 is the only official number.

2027/2028 update: MOUAU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Scoring 150 only lets you register for screening. Whether you get a place depends on how you rank against the other Electrical and Electronics Engineering applicants. Below you will find the official figures, a safe target score (my advice), the JAMB brochure rules for MOUAU, how screening works, a worked example, the CAPS steps and what the B.Eng involves.

MOUAU runs one floor of 150 for every course. Pages that print a MOUAU “departmental cut-off” for Electrical and Electronics Engineering do not cite any MOUAU document, so treat their numbers as guesses. Merit admission is decided after screening, and the score of the last candidate admitted is never made public.

Safe target score for Electrical and Electronics Engineering at MOUAU (my advice)

Electrical and Electronics Engineering (often shortened to EEE) is one of the most popular engineering choices in Nigeria, and it usually fills faster than Civil, Mechanical or Chemical. The bands below are my judgement as an admissions adviser. MOUAU has not published them.

Your UTME scoreMy read for MOUAU Electrical and Electronics Engineering
Below 150Not eligible to register for MOUAU screening
150 to 174Eligible to register; a long shot on merit
175 to 204Possible with strong O’level grades
205 to 229Competitive
230 and aboveStrong

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 205, with all five O’level credits from one sitting and good grades in Mathematics and Physics. If your score lands in the lower bands, still register, and keep a second course in mind (the worked example below shows how).

MOUAU is a federal university and admits from every state. It has not published how it splits places between merit, catchment and educationally less developed states, so do not count on your state of origin to carry a weak score.

JAMB subject combination for Electrical and Electronics Engineering at MOUAU

JAMB’s brochure entry for Electrical and Electronics Engineering, as reprinted by Myschool, gives the UTME subjects as Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus the compulsory Use of English. The entry has no MOUAU remark on UTME subjects, so the general combination is the one to register.

UTME subjectStatus
Use of EnglishCompulsory
MathematicsCompulsory
PhysicsCompulsory
ChemistryCompulsory

There is no room for Biology, Economics or Agricultural Science in this combination. If you registered one of those in place of Physics or Chemistry, you do not meet the entry rule for any engineering course, and an offer cannot go through on CAPS. Check your registration slip before the UTME.

O’level requirements for Electrical and Electronics Engineering

RequirementWhat the brochure says
General ruleFive credits including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and any other science subject
MOUAU remarkNone. MOUAU has no O’level remark on this entry, so the general rule applies
SittingsMOUAU’s notice says the number of sittings is weighted, so one sitting ranks you higher
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO, NABTEB
Awaiting resultMOUAU told candidates not to register for screening until their results were out

Physics carries this course from the first year, so treat a C6 in Physics as a weak point even though it is a credit.

Direct Entry into MOUAU Electrical and Electronics Engineering

RouteWhat the brochure says
General DE ruleTwo A level passes in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry
MOUAU remarkMOUAU accepts ND/HND into appropriate levels, plus the UTME requirements

The remark does not state a minimum diploma grade. “Plus the UTME requirements” means you still need the O’level credits listed above. Ask MOUAU which level (200 or higher) it will place an ND or HND holder.

How MOUAU screening works

MOUAU’s 2026/2027 notice, signed by the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, set these rules for UTME candidates. The 2027/2028 exercise is likely to follow the same pattern, but use the new notice when it comes out.

The notice does not describe a written Post-UTME test, so I would not assume one. Plan on MOUAU ranking you by your UTME score and your O’level grades, with one sitting counting in your favour, and keep checking the portal in case a test or extra step is announced. The notice also told candidates to check the portal from time to time for screening results and admission status.

Worked example for two Electrical and Electronics Engineering candidates

MOUAU has not published an aggregate formula, so this example only compares scores with the official minimum and my target. It is illustrative.

Obinna scored 219 in the UTME, with B2 in Mathematics, A1 in Physics, B3 in Chemistry, C4 in English and B3 in Further Mathematics, all from one WAEC sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 219 minus 150 = 69. Obinna clears MOUAU’s minimum easily.
  2. Against my safe target: 219 minus 205 = 14. That puts Obinna above my target for Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
  3. O’level check: five credits including English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at one sitting. The rule is met, and one sitting helps in MOUAU’s weighting.
  4. Advice: keep MOUAU as first choice, register for screening as soon as it opens and accept quickly on CAPS.

Amarachi scored 183, with credits spread over two sittings. Amarachi is eligible (183 minus 150 = 33) but sits 22 marks below my target, and the two sittings may pull the ranking down further. Amarachi should still register and keep a backup in mind, such as accepting a related CEET course if MOUAU offers one.

How to apply for Electrical and Electronics Engineering at MOUAU, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME with MOUAU first: choose Electrical and Electronics Engineering with Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. If you already put another school first, do a JAMB change of institution before MOUAU’s screening opens.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre. MOUAU’s notice requires your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result there.
  4. Register for screening: when MOUAU announces the exercise on www.mouau.edu.ng, register and validate on portal.mouau.edu.ng with your JAMB registration number.
  5. Pay the screening fee: ₦2,000 in 2026/2027, on the Remita invoice the portal generates. Print every receipt and slip.
  6. Watch the portal: MOUAU posts screening results and admission status there, and the decision then appears on JAMB CAPS.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gave candidates four weeks to accept in 2026.
  8. Pay acceptance and clear: MOUAU has not published its acceptance fee or school fees in any source I reached. Pay only the amount on your MOUAU portal invoice.

Warning

Some websites print a “MOUAU departmental cut-off” for engineering courses, and some people sell admission “slots”. MOUAU’s notice gave one minimum of 150 for every course, and every genuine offer shows on JAMB CAPS. Pay MOUAU only through the Remita invoice from its portal.

JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the date for public universities to finish 2026/2027 admissions. If you applied in 2026, check CAPS now. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status you may see, and our guide on checking your JAMB result covers what to do with your score.

Studying Electrical and Electronics Engineering at MOUAU

Electrical and Electronics Engineering is one of six departments in MOUAU’s College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (CEET). The other five are Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The campus is at Umudike, about 10 km from Umuahia in Abia State. MOUAU was set up by the Federal Government in November 1992 as a university of agriculture.

What you study

MOUAU has not put a full course outline for this department online in any source I reached. A Nigerian B.Eng in this field normally covers the areas below.

  • Foundation years: mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering drawing, workshop practice and general studies with the rest of CEET.
  • Circuits and electronics: circuit theory, analogue and digital electronics, measurements.
  • Power: electrical machines, power systems, transmission and distribution, power electronics.
  • Signals and communication: signals and systems, telecommunications.
  • Control: control engineering and instrumentation.
  • Industrial training and project: SIWES placements and a final year project.

Duration and accreditation

Nigerian B.Eng degrees usually run five years for UTME entrants, with Direct Entry students joining at 200 level. MOUAU’s own duration for this programme is not confirmed in the sources I reached. I could not confirm the programme’s current NUC or COREN accreditation status either. COREN registers engineers in Nigeria, so before you pay acceptance, ask the department whether the programme holds COREN accreditation.

Careers

  • Power generation and distribution companies
  • Telecoms and network operators
  • Oil, gas and manufacturing plants (maintenance and instrumentation)
  • Solar and renewable energy installation
  • Electrical consulting, research and postgraduate study

For UTME revision, start with our JAMB Chemistry syllabus for 2027, and use our tips on studying for long hours.

Mistakes that cost Electrical and Electronics Engineering applicants a MOUAU place

  • Wrong UTME subjects: Biology or Agricultural Science in place of Physics or Chemistry rules you out of engineering.
  • Treating 150 as safe: it only opens the screening door.
  • Choosing MOUAU second: the notice asked for MOUAU as first choice.
  • O’level missing on CAPS: the notice requires the upload.
  • Registering while awaiting results: MOUAU told candidates to wait until results were out.
  • Paying anyone outside the portal: MOUAU fees go through the Remita invoice from its portal.

If you need to switch course or school after the UTME, read JAMB change of course and JAMB change of institution.

MOUAU cut off mark for Electrical and Electronics Engineering: frequently asked questions

Is 190 enough for Electrical Engineering in MOUAU? 190 clears MOUAU’s 150 minimum, so you can register for screening. For EEE it is borderline in my view, so strong one-sitting credits in Mathematics and Physics matter.

What is the subject combination for Electrical and Electronics Engineering in MOUAU? Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. MOUAU has no special UTME remark for this course.

Can I use two sittings for Electrical Engineering in MOUAU? The brochure entry does not ban two sittings, but MOUAU’s notice says the number of sittings is weighted in screening, so one sitting puts you higher.

Does MOUAU accept ND for Electrical Engineering Direct Entry? Yes. The brochure says MOUAU accepts ND/HND into appropriate levels, and you must also meet the O’level requirements.
