Amadeus University Software Engineering Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

The Amadeus University Software Engineering cut-off mark is 150, JAMB’s national minimum. UTME subjects, O’level, Direct Entry, screening, fees and the programme’s NUC status.

The Amadeus University Software Engineering cut-off mark 2027/2028 candidates should plan with is 150 in the UTME. That is JAMB’s national minimum for universities, fixed at the 2026 policy meeting for 2026/2027 admissions, and Amadeus has not published a separate figure for Software Engineering. Its admission page only says your score must be in line with the national minimum and the faculty’s requirements.

2027/2028 update: Amadeus University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Before you register, check the course name. Software Engineering is on Amadeus’s own programme list as a B.Sc. in the Faculty of Science and Computing. I could not open JAMB’s course list for Amadeus, so look for Software Engineering under Amadeus University, Amizi on the JAMB e-brochure or at the registration centre before you pay. If it is missing there, Computer Science at Amadeus is the closest course to choose instead.

Below you will find the figures, a safe target score (my advice), the subjects JAMB requires, how Amadeus admits students, the 2024/2025 charges, and where the programme stands with the NUC now that the university has its Full Operational Licence.

Amadeus University Software Engineering cut-off history

SessionFigureWhat it isStatus
2026/2027150JAMB national minimum for universities; Amadeus declared no institutional figureOfficial (JAMB, via NAN, 11 May 2026)
2025/2026150JAMB national minimum for universitiesWidely reported; not re-checked against a JAMB document for this page
2025/2026200 (MBBS) and 180 (Pharmacy)Figures the Vice-Chancellor gave for the two new professional coursesReported by The Sun, 20 November 2025; none given for Software Engineering

Amadeus began teaching in September 2024, so 2026/2027 is only its third admission round. In none of them did it publish a score for Software Engineering. When JAMB released the institution-by-institution list of 2026 minimums, Amadeus was not on it, which means the university did not declare a figure above JAMB’s floor at that meeting. So the honest answer for Software Engineering is 150, with no departmental line on top that anyone outside the admissions office can see.

Safe target score for Software Engineering at Amadeus (my advice)

This is my judgement as an admissions adviser. Amadeus has not issued it, and it may change once the university has more applicants than places.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Amadeus Software Engineering
Below 150Not eligible for any Amadeus degree course this cycle
150 to 169Eligible. A place is realistic if your O’level is complete and you apply early
170 to 199Comfortable for a new private university
200 and aboveStrong. Also worth asking admissions about the scholarships Amadeus mentions

For Software Engineering I would aim for at least 180 in the 2027 UTME, with strong credits in Mathematics and Physics. Software courses attract many of the candidates who would otherwise apply for Computer Science, and a mathematics-heavy first year is easier with a good base.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Amadeus Software Engineering

RequirementSoftware Engineering (JAMB brochure)
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics, Physics, plus one of Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography
O’levelFive credits: English Language, Mathematics, Physics and two other science subjects
Exams acceptedWAEC (WASSCE), NECO or GCE, per Amadeus’s admission page
SittingsNot stated by Amadeus; one sitting is safest
Direct EntryTwo A-level science passes including Mathematics, or NCE with merit in Mathematics and one science or social science subject
Amadeus remark in the brochureNone

The brochure allows five different third subjects for Software Engineering, which is wider than the ‘one other science’ you will see on many blogs. Economics and Geography count. I would still take Chemistry, because it keeps Computer Science and Computer Engineering open if you change course later. Use of English is compulsory for every UTME candidate. The remarks on the brochure page name FUTA (which wants Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics), AUN, FUTO, Bowen, BUK and Al-Hikmah. None of them is Amadeus.

Amadeus’s own admission page adds its general rule: a WASSCE, NECO or GCE result with five credits, including English Language and Mathematics plus three other subjects relevant to the course. It does not say whether two sittings are allowed. Examkits reported in July 2025 that one or two sittings were accepted for 2025/2026, but I would still treat one sitting as the safe choice and ask admissions before relying on a combined result.

Direct Entry into Software Engineering

JAMB’s brochure lets Direct Entry candidates in with two A-level science passes including Mathematics, or an NCE with merit in Mathematics and one science or social science subject. Amadeus has not published its own Direct Entry rules, the level DE students join at, or whether it takes ND holders. Ask admissions before you buy a DE form.

How Amadeus screens Software Engineering applicants

Amadeus has not published a Post-UTME test, a screening fee or an aggregate formula. Here is what its admission page and the reports I found do say.

DetailWhat is known
Where to applyadmissions.amadeus.edu.ng, after choosing Amadeus on the JAMB portal (Amadeus admission page)
Score ruleIn line with the national minimum and faculty requirements; no figure given
What else countsAcademic record first, with character, extracurricular and social activities also considered (Amadeus admission page)
InterviewA 2024 Studentship report says applicants are interviewed; Amadeus’s current page does not mention it
AgeThe same 2024 report says applicants should be 16 or older when the course starts; unconfirmed
Form feeNot published
Change of institutionAccepted in 2025/2026, according to the Vice-Chancellor (The Sun, 20 November 2025)

Worked example (illustrative)

With no published formula, the useful sum is the gap between your score, the 150 floor and the target above. These two candidates are invented to show the check.

Kelechi scored 192 and has A1 in Mathematics, B2 in Physics, B3 in English, and credits in Chemistry and Further Mathematics from one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 192 minus 150 = 42. He clears the minimum by 42 marks.
  2. Against my target: 192 minus 180 = 12 above the score I suggest.
  3. Subjects: he sat Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with English. That matches the brochure.
  4. O’level: five credits including English, Mathematics and Physics, one sitting, uploaded to CAPS. Nothing rules him out.

Amaka scored 162 with credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Economics and Biology. 162 minus 150 = 12, so she qualifies. She is below my 180 target, which leaves her eligible with less margin at a new private university. She should apply early and answer quickly if Amadeus calls her for an interview.

Some blogs print a 50:50 aggregate for every private university. Amadeus has published nothing of the kind, so do not build your plans on a calculation it does not use.

Your chances of admission into Software Engineering at Amadeus

Amadeus only started admitting in 2024, and nothing it has published suggests the course is oversubscribed. For a candidate with 150 or more and a clean O’level, the risks that remain are mostly paperwork and money. The university has also been advertising for Software Engineering lecturers, which suggests the department is still growing.

  • In your favour: the university is young, private and still building numbers, and its stated minimum is the national floor.
  • Against you: late applications, a missing O’level subject, or a JAMB subject combination that does not match the course.
  • The real cost: fees. Plan the money before you plan the score (see the fees section below).

Software Engineering or Computer Science at Amadeus?

Both are B.Sc. programmes in the same faculty with the same JAMB subjects, so the choice is about emphasis.

Computer Science covers the theory behind computing: algorithms, data structures, computation and programming languages. Software Engineering takes those tools and focuses on building large programs that work: requirements, design, testing, maintenance and team projects. If you know you want to build products, Software Engineering is the more direct route. If you want room to move into research, AI or theory, choose Computer Science. If hardware interests you, compare Computer Engineering.

How to apply for Software Engineering at Amadeus, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: choose Software Engineering with Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography (Chemistry is my pick), and pick Amadeus University, Amizi as your institution. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution before applying.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre. Admission cannot go through on CAPS without it, and an awaiting-result candidate has to come back once the result is out.
  4. Apply to Amadeus: fill the form at admissions.amadeus.edu.ng with your JAMB registration number and upload what it asks for.
  5. Attend any interview or screening: the university may call you. Keep your phone and email active.
  6. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB gives four weeks to accept an offer, and our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay acceptance and register: the acceptance fee was ₦200,000 in 2024/2025. Confirm the current amount with admissions before you pay.

JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities. In the 2025/2026 round, Amadeus closed admissions on 30 November 2025, so it works up to JAMB’s date.

Warning

Amadeus lists its admission contacts on its website: +234 708 063 1863, toll-free +234 800 123 5100, WhatsApp +234 908 796 6353 and admissions@amadeus.edu.ng. Every real offer appears on JAMB CAPS. Do not pay anyone who promises a place outside CAPS or outside the university’s own channels.

Amadeus University fees for Software Engineering students

Amadeus has not put tuition figures in any page I could open. The newest charges I found are the 2024/2025 fresh-student charges that Myschool reprinted from the university on 21 June 2024. They exclude tuition.

Charge (2024/2025)Amount
Acceptance fee (non-refundable)₦200,000
Medical insurance₦85,000
Library and ICT₦120,000
Laboratory and workshops₦50,000
Accommodation (bed space in a two-person room)₦900,000
Total before tuition₦1,355,000

These are two sessions old, so expect changes. Amadeus says it offers full and partial scholarships, but it had not published the conditions in that notice. Ask about both when you apply.

Studying Software Engineering at Amadeus University

Software Engineering sits in the Faculty of Science and Computing at Amadeus, alongside Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science and Information Technology. The campus is at Amizi in Ikwuano Local Government Area, Abia State. Through the UTME the B.Sc. normally runs four years in Nigeria, including a period of industrial training.

What you study

  • Early years: mathematics, discrete structures, introductory programming and the general studies every Nigerian student takes.
  • Core software engineering: data structures and algorithms, object-oriented programming, databases, requirements engineering, software design and testing.
  • Later years: software project management, mobile and web application development, quality assurance, and a team or individual final-year project.
  • Industrial training: a placement with a software team under SIWES.

Is Amadeus Software Engineering accredited?

Here is the record as the university and the NUC show it. Amadeus received its NUC licence in June 2023. The NUC completed a resource verification in April 2024, and teaching began in September 2024 with 19 degree programmes, Software Engineering among them. After a second resource verification on 1 to 3 March 2026, the NUC granted Amadeus a Full Operational Licence on 23 September 2026.

Programme accreditation is a separate step. Amadeus does not appear in the NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025, and I found no NUC accreditation report for Software Engineering. The NUC normally accredits a programme once its first students reach the later years, and Amadeus’s third academic session only starts in October 2026. So the accurate position for Software Engineering is approved to run, accreditation not yet published. Ask admissions for the latest position before you accept.

Careers after the degree

  • Software developer or engineer (web, mobile, backend)
  • Quality assurance and software testing
  • DevOps and cloud engineering after further training
  • Product and project management in technology firms
  • Starting your own software business, or postgraduate study

For the UTME, our JAMB Chemistry syllabus covers one of your science papers, and how to check your JAMB result explains what to do with your score once results are out.

Mistakes that cost Software Engineering applicants an Amadeus place

  • Treating 150 as a guarantee: it lets you apply. Amadeus still checks your O’level and may interview you.
  • Dropping Physics: the brochure needs it in both the UTME and O’level.
  • Registering a course name that is not under Amadeus: check the JAMB list first.
  • O’level not on CAPS: admission cannot be processed without it.
  • Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: acceptance fee and registration at Amadeus are separate steps.
  • Applying after the deadline: Amadeus closed its 2025/2026 admissions on 30 November 2025.

If you are trying again in 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and JAMB change of course.
