There is no UNN Quantity Surveying cut off mark for 2026/2027, because the University of Nigeria does not list a Quantity Surveying degree. UNN’s Faculty of Environmental Studies names four departments: Architecture, Estate Management, Urban and Regional Planning, and Geoinformatics and Surveying. Quantity Surveying is not among them, and the JAMB brochure (as reprinted by Myschool) carries no UNN entry or remark for the course.
2027/2028 update: UNN cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
If you want UNN, the general cut-off is 160 in the UTME to apply for screening, set in UNN’s notice of 13 July 2026, with 200 reported as the minimum UNN declared at the JAMB 2026 policy meeting. That applies to the courses UNN actually runs. This guide shows what Quantity Surveying needs in JAMB terms, the closest courses at UNN, where to study Quantity Surveying in the South-East instead, and how UNN screening and CAPS work if you switch.
Warning
Before you register for the UTME or change your course, open the JAMB brochure on your JAMB profile and confirm that the exact course is listed under your chosen university. Anyone who offers to get you “Quantity Surveying at UNN” is selling a course UNN does not list.
UNN Quantity Surveying at a glance
| Question | Answer | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Does UNN offer B.Sc. Quantity Surveying? | Not listed. The Faculty of Environmental Studies names four departments, none of them Quantity Surveying | UNN Faculty of Environmental Studies site |
| Is UNN in the JAMB brochure for Quantity Surveying? | No UNN remark, and UNN is not in the list of universities shown | Myschool reprint of the JAMB brochure |
| UNN general cut-off for 2026/2027 | 160 to apply for screening (UNN first choice) | UNN notice, 13 July 2026 |
| UNN minimum declared at the JAMB policy meeting | 200 | Reported by Vanguard, 11 May 2026 |
| Closest UNN courses | Estate Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geoinformatics and Surveying | UNN |
| Quantity Surveying in the South-East | Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, runs a Quantity Surveying degree | UNIZIK Faculty of Environmental Sciences |
UNN’s twelve new programmes for 2026/2027, approved by the NUC and reported in September 2026, do not include Quantity Surveying either. If UNN adds the course later, it will appear in the JAMB brochure and on the UNN website first, so check there before each UTME registration.
JAMB subject combination for Quantity Surveying
These are the general requirements in the JAMB brochure, which apply at the universities that do offer the course. They are useful even if you end up at UNN, because they overlap with Architecture and Civil Engineering.
| Requirement | General JAMB requirement for Quantity Surveying |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics, Physics, plus one of Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology or Economics |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus one of Fine Art, Geography, Biology, Economics, Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics or a building trade subject |
| Direct Entry | Two A’level passes from Mathematics or Physics with Chemistry, Geography or Fine Art; or an upper credit ND or HND in a relevant field |
Each university can add its own remarks, so check the remark for your chosen school on the JAMB brochure. I could not open JAMB’s IBASS brochure from here; the table follows Myschool’s reprint.
The closest courses to Quantity Surveying at UNN
Quantity surveyors manage the cost of building and engineering projects: estimating, preparing bills of quantities, tendering, contracts and final accounts. No UNN course covers all of that, but four come close in different ways.
| UNN course | Why it is close | Key UTME subjects (with English) | Campus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Estate Management | Property valuation, feasibility and viability appraisal, building technology and land economics | Mathematics, Economics and one other | Enugu |
| Architecture | Building design and construction, the other side of the same projects | Mathematics, Physics and one other (check the brochure) | Enugu |
| Civil Engineering | Structures, construction and the technical side of building works | Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry | Nsukka |
| Geoinformatics and Surveying | Measurement and mapping; the other kind of surveying | Mathematics, Physics and one other | Enugu |
If cost, money and property interest you more than drawing or calculation, Estate Management is the nearest fit. It needs Economics in both the UTME and O’level, which many science students do not have, so check that first. If you have Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and enjoy the technical side, Civil Engineering or Architecture fits better. Full requirements are in our guides to UNN Estate Management, UNN Architecture, UNN Civil Engineering and UNN Geoinformatics and Surveying.
If you must study Quantity Surveying itself
Then UNN is the wrong first choice. In the South-East, Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka runs a Quantity Surveying degree in its Faculty of Environmental Sciences. Further away, the University of Uyo has a Quantity Surveying department in its Faculty of Environmental Studies. The brochure lists other universities too; confirm each one’s remark before you choose it.
UNN cut-off history (all courses)
These figures apply to every UNN course. UNN has published no departmental cut-offs for 2025/2026 or 2026/2027.
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 160 | UTME score needed to apply for UNN screening (UNN as first choice) | Official, UNN Registrar notice of 13 July 2026 |
| 2026/2027 | 200 | Minimum UNN declared at the JAMB 2026 policy meeting | Reported by Vanguard and News Central, 11 May 2026 |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for all universities | Official JAMB policy, May 2026 |
| 2025/2026 | 160 | UTME and screening threshold in UNN’s advert (shopping) notice | Official notice, seen through reprints |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | Official JAMB policy, July 2025 |
| 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 | Not published | Departmental cut-off for this course | UNN has released no departmental list |
Blog estimates put UNN Estate Management at about 180 to 200 and Civil Engineering at about 250 to 265 for “2025/2026”. The same blog calls its numbers trend estimates and does not say whether they are UTME scores or aggregates, so treat them as unofficial. They do show the gap: Civil Engineering is far more competitive than the Environmental Studies courses.
UNN screening for 2027/2028: what Environmental Studies candidates had to do
UNN did not run a written post-UTME test for 2026/2027. The Registrar’s notice of 13 July 2026 described an online screening registration only, with no test date and no exam format. If a website is selling you “UNN post-UTME past questions for 2026/2027” as preparation for Environmental Studies, know that the official notice did not mention any paper.
| Detail | 2026/2027 screening |
|---|---|
| Who could apply | Candidates who chose UNN as first choice in the 2026 UTME and scored 160 or more |
| Opened | Wednesday 15 July 2026 |
| Closed | Midnight, Wednesday 5 August 2026 |
| Fees | ₦2,000 application fee plus ₦3,300 processing fee (₦5,300 in total), paid through Remita |
| O’level upload | To JAMB CAPS and the UNN portal by 5 August 2026 |
| Awaiting results | Not eligible; results had to be out |
| Age | Candidates under 16 by 30 September 2026 were told not to apply |
| Names | Names on WAEC or NECO results must match the names on the JAMB record |
| Uploads | Birth certificate, LGA identification, testimonial, First School Leaving Certificate, JAMB result slip and O’level result(s), each under 100KB |
The portal route was unn.edu.ng, then UNN Portal at the top right (unnportal.unn.edu.ng), then Prospective Students and the 2026/2027 screening form. You entered your JAMB registration number, generated and paid the invoice, came back to fill personal and O’level details (including centre and exam numbers), uploaded your documents, reviewed, submitted and printed the acknowledgement slip. The notice warned that date of birth cannot be changed after submission.
The window is closed. If you did not register by 5 August 2026, UNN cannot consider you for 2026/2027, whatever your score.
How UNN ranks Environmental Studies candidates (aggregate example)
UNN has not published its aggregate formula. Neither the 2026/2027 screening notice nor the 2025/2026 advert notice gives weights or grade points. The 2025/2026 advert notice did refer to a separate screening score with a 160 threshold, but it did not say how that score is worked out.
Several Nigerian education blogs describe the same method, and it is the one you will see most often: 60% of your UTME score plus 40% of an O’level score built from four relevant subjects, where A1 = 100, B2 = 90, B3 = 80, C4 = 70, C5 = 60 and C6 = 50. Treat the example below as an illustration of that blog method. It is not an official UNN formula.
| Step | Working |
|---|---|
| UTME score | 215 |
| O’level: English Language | C5 = 60 |
| O’level: Mathematics | B3 = 80 |
| O’level: Physics | B3 = 80 |
| O’level: Economics | C4 = 70 |
| O’level total (out of 400) | 290 |
| 60% of UTME | 215 × 0.6 = 129 |
| 40% of O’level | 290 × 0.4 = 116 |
| Aggregate (out of 400) | 129 + 116 = 245 |
This is a typical Quantity Surveying hopeful (Mathematics and Physics, with Economics as a fourth) who switches to Estate Management at UNN. The candidate reaches 241 out of 400 on the blog method. Because UNN has not said which four subjects it counts for each course, use this only to see how grades move your position.
Merit, catchment and ELDS for Environmental Studies courses at UNN
UNN is a federal university, so it works under the federal admission guideline that is widely reported as 45% merit, 35% catchment and 20% educationally less developed states (ELDS). UNN has not published its own split for any course, so read that as the national policy rather than a UNN figure.
- Merit: the top scorers in the course, from any state, fill this list first. It is where the highest cut-off sits.
- Catchment: UNN has not published its catchment list. It is generally understood to be the South-East states; confirm on JAMB CAPS or with the UNN admissions office before you count on it.
- ELDS: this is a federal designation. UNN does not publish its own ELDS list, and I would not rely on any blog that names states “for UNN”.
- State of origin: the state on your JAMB profile is what counts, and UNN asks for an LGA identification letter as proof during screening.
For candidates moving from Quantity Surveying, catchment matters: a South-East applicant a little under the merit line in Estate Management or Geoinformatics may still be picked on the catchment list. UNN has not said how many places each department has for 2026/2027.
What score should you aim for at UNN instead?
My advice (not a UNN figure): for Estate Management, Urban and Regional Planning or Geoinformatics and Surveying, aim for 200 to 215 or more. For Architecture, aim higher, around 220 or more. For Civil Engineering, plan on 250 or more.
| Your UTME score | My reading for a former Quantity Surveying candidate at UNN |
|---|---|
| Below 160 | Not eligible for UNN screening |
| 160 to 199 | Below UNN’s declared 200; Estate Management or Geoinformatics are the realistic options, with a backup school |
| 200 to 219 | A fair chance in Estate Management, Urban and Regional Planning or Geoinformatics |
| 220 to 249 | Good for the Environmental Studies courses, including Architecture |
| 250 and above | Civil Engineering becomes realistic |
Switching course or school on JAMB
If your JAMB registration names a course UNN does not run, sort it out on the JAMB portal before UNN’s screening opens. A change of course moves you to another UNN course, and a change of institution lets you keep Quantity Surveying at a university that offers it. Make sure your new course matches your UTME subjects, because changing the course does not change the subjects you wrote.
For example, a candidate who wrote English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry can move to Civil Engineering or Geoinformatics and Surveying without trouble, but cannot move to Estate Management, which needs Economics in the UTME.
Step by step: from JAMB profile to resuming for your course at UNN
- Get or recover your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN (for example, NIN 12345678901) to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN. JAMB replies with your profile code, which you need for registration and other JAMB services.
- Make UNN your first choice: UNN screens only candidates who chose it first. If you are planning for 2027, pick UNN and your course at registration so you do not pay for a change of institution later.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result has to show on your JAMB profile. For 2026/2027 UNN asked for the upload to CAPS and the UNN portal by 5 August 2026. A JAMB-accredited CBT centre can do the CAPS upload for you.
- Register for UNN screening: when the next notice comes out, fill the form on unnportal.unn.edu.ng, pay through Remita and print your acknowledgement slip.
- Check CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, click Check Admission Status, then Access My CAPS and Admission Status. On a phone, switch your browser to desktop view first.
- Accept or reject: read the course name carefully, then click Accept. If you see a Transfer Approval, UNN is offering you a different course, and you must respond to that before anything else.
- Print your JAMB admission letter and pay acceptance: after CAPS, pay UNN’s acceptance fee on the UNN portal. Blogs report it as ₦25,000, but I found no official 2026/2027 figure, so confirm the amount on the portal before you pay.
- Clearance: follow your faculty’s clearance instructions with your original documents. Nobody can “secure” a place for you on CAPS for money.
UNN’s homepage already carries 2026/2027 notices for its primary admission list, its Direct Entry list and lists for candidates with disabilities and foreign candidates, and Myschool reported on 25 October 2026 that the list is checkable on CAPS. JAMB also told public universities to conclude 2026 admissions by 31 October 2026. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains every status message you may see.
What quantity surveyors do
A quantity surveyor is the cost expert on a construction project. Before building starts, they estimate costs and prepare the bills of quantities that contractors price; during construction they value work done, handle variations and certify payments; at the end they settle final accounts. They work for consulting firms, contractors, banks, government works departments and oil and gas companies.
In Nigeria the profession is regulated by the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN), and graduates from an accredited programme go through it to practise. An Estate Management or Civil Engineering degree from UNN leads to its own professional bodies, so choose by the career you want as well as by the score you have.
UNN Quantity Surveying: frequently asked questions
Does UNN offer Quantity Surveying?
No. UNN’s Faculty of Environmental Studies lists Architecture, Estate Management, Urban and Regional Planning, and Geoinformatics and Surveying, and the JAMB brochure has no UNN entry for Quantity Surveying.
