The Temple Gate Poly Hospitality Management cut off mark is 100 in the UTME, JAMB’s minimum for polytechnics for 2026/2027, because Temple Gate Polytechnic, Aba has never published a separate figure for the course. Hospitality Management is on JAMB’s course list for the school. It is missing from the older blog lists of Temple Gate courses and fees, though, so confirm that the department is admitting before you pay.
2027/2028 update: Temple Gate Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Temple Gate Polytechnic is a private polytechnic at Abayi, Osisioma, on the Aba side of Abia State. NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes lists it as a private institution at P.O. Box 3448, Aba, with 2009 as the year the government approved it. Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s course list shows it as Temple-gate Polytechnic with 15 course entries. Check the spelling carefully when you pick it as your institution on the JAMB portal.
Temple Gate Poly Hospitality Management cut off mark at a glance
| Item | Position | Status |
|---|---|---|
| JAMB minimum UTME score for polytechnics | 100 | Official, 2026/2027 |
| Temple Gate cut-off for Hospitality Management | Not published | No school figure found for any year |
| Course name on JAMB’s list | Hospitality Management (Social and Management Sciences) | Myschool reprint of JAMB’s course list |
| Level | National Diploma (ND) | Entry through the UTME and CAPS |
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Biology or Agricultural Science, plus two of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics | JAMB polytechnic brochure; no Temple Gate remark |
| Compulsory O’level credits | English Language and Chemistry, alongside Biology or Agricultural Science and Mathematics | JAMB polytechnic brochure |

| JAMB deadline for 2026/2027 polytechnic admissions | 31 December 2026 | Official (JAMB, reported by NAN) |
Hospitality Management sits under Social and Management Sciences in JAMB’s polytechnic brochure, but the subject rules are science-based. That surprises many applicants, and it is the main thing to get right before you register.
Is Temple Gate still running Hospitality Management?
Here is what each source shows. Read it before you commit your UTME choice to the course.
| Source | Hospitality Management listed? | How current |
|---|---|---|
| Myschool reprint of JAMB’s course list for Temple Gate | Yes | Fetched 29 October 2026 |
| schoolings.org list of Temple Gate courses | No (14 courses listed without it) | Last modified September 2020 |
| o3schools Temple Gate fee list | No (fees given for other departments only) | Posted 26 January 2026 |
| Official Temple Gate admission notice | None found | No 2026/2027 notice reached |
JAMB’s list is the one that controls whether you can select the course, so you will see it on the portal. The two blogs leaving it out could mean the course was added after 2020, or simply that the bloggers copied an incomplete list. Neither is official. My advice is to phone or visit the admissions office in Aba and ask directly whether Hospitality Management took ND students in 2026 and will take them in 2027.
Hospitality Management cut-off history at Temple Gate Poly
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum UTME score for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official (JAMB 2026 policy meeting, reported by NAN on 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum UTME score for polytechnics | Official (reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |
| Any year | None | Temple Gate Poly figure for Hospitality Management | No published figure in any source I found |
100 has been the polytechnic floor for both of the last two sessions. Temple Gate could set a higher mark if more people apply than it can take, but it has not announced one for any course.
Safe target score for Hospitality Management at Temple Gate (my advice)
These bands are my own reading as an admissions adviser. Temple Gate publishes no merit lists or applicant numbers.
| Your UTME score | My read for ND Hospitality Management at Temple Gate |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for ND admission through JAMB this session |
| 100 to 119 | Eligible; a place is likely if the department is admitting and your O’level meets the brochure |
| 120 to 139 | Good chance |
| 140 and above | Strong. I would aim here. |
For 2027 I would aim for 130 or more. With this course, though, the O’level check is the bigger hurdle: a missing Chemistry credit rules you out at any score, while a score of 115 with the right credits usually does not.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Hospitality Management at Temple Gate
| Requirement | ND Hospitality Management |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Biology or Agricultural Science, and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics |
| Temple Gate remark on the brochure | None, so the base list applies |
| O’level | Five credits in Biology or Agricultural Science, Mathematics and any three from Geography, Food and Nutrition, Economics, Technical Drawing, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, a Nigerian language and Home Economics |
| Compulsory credits | English Language and Chemistry (the brochure says both are compulsory) |
| Sittings | Not more than two (schoolings.org page on Temple Gate, unofficial) |
| Direct Entry | Not applicable for ND; the brochure’s Direct Entry section is blank |
Putting the pieces together, your five O’level credits must include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology (or Agricultural Science). The fifth can be Food and Nutrition, Economics, Home Economics, Physics, Geography or another subject from the list. Food and Nutrition is a sensible fifth credit because it overlaps with first-year catering work.
For the UTME, Biology or Agricultural Science is fixed. A common pairing is Biology, Chemistry and Economics, which gives you a science base and a business subject. Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics also works. Do not register Food and Nutrition or Home Economics as UTME subjects for this course: they are O’level options only on the brochure.
Several other polytechnics have their own remarks on the brochure page. YABATECH wants Biology, Mathematics and Economics, and a few schools drop the Chemistry credit. None of those remarks names Temple Gate, so the stricter base rule applies to you. For revision, see our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus guides.
HND after the ND
ND courses are entered through the UTME; JAMB’s Direct Entry route is for degrees. After the ND, the usual NBTE path is a year of industrial attachment and then an HND, normally with at least a Lower Credit. Temple Gate has not published whether Hospitality Management has an HND stream, so ask if that matters to you.
How Temple Gate Poly screening works
No 2026/2027 screening notice from Temple Gate turned up, and the school website does not load. The admission rules published for the school (on a schoolings.org page last modified in 2020, not by the school) are short:
- You must be at least 16 in the year of admission.
- You need five credits including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
- You must meet the current JAMB minimum.
- Eligible candidates are invited for the polytechnic’s internal screening.
The date, fee and format of that screening are not published. Ask the admissions office whether it is a document check, an interview or a written test. For a hospitality course, expect questions about why you chose the field and whether you are ready for practical kitchen and front-office work.
Worked example (illustrative)
Take Ogechi, who scored 118 in English, Biology, Chemistry and Economics, with credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Food and Nutrition from one WAEC sitting.
- JAMB minimum: 118 minus 100 is 18, so she clears the polytechnic floor.
- My safe target: 130 minus 118 is 12. She is eligible, sitting in my lower band.
- UTME subjects: Biology is present, and Chemistry and Economics are both on the allowed list.
- O’level: English and Chemistry are there as compulsory credits, along with Biology and Mathematics, and Food and Nutrition completes five.
If a school used an aggregate, one simple illustration is to divide the UTME score by 8 for a mark out of 50 and add a screening mark out of 50. Ogechi’s 118 gives 14.75; with 35 out of 50 at screening she would have 49.75 out of 100. Temple Gate has published no such formula. Her real risk is whether the department is admitting, which is why the phone call to the school comes first.
What Temple Gate Poly is reported to charge
Temple Gate has no fee schedule online that I could reach. An o3schools post from 26 January 2026 gives a form fee of ₦5,000 and an acceptance fee of ₦15,000 for ND, and ND tuition of ₦50,000 to ₦55,000 for the departments it lists. Hospitality Management is not one of them. These figures are unofficial and may be out of date, and the same post says fees are not refunded. Hospitality courses also tend to involve extra costs for uniforms, kitchen practicals and ingredients, so ask the department what those come to.
How to apply for Hospitality Management at Temple Gate Poly, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: choose Hospitality Management with Use of English, Biology or Agricultural Science and two of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics, and select Temple Gate Polytechnic as your polytechnic. If you already picked another school, use JAMB change of institution before the polytechnic starts screening.
- Upload your O’level result to CAPS: go to an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. CAPS cannot match you to the course without it.
- Buy the Temple Gate form through the school: visit or call the admissions office in Aba, ask for the form price, closing date and screening date, and keep every receipt.
- Attend screening with your documents: UTME result slip, O’level result, birth certificate or declaration of age, local government identification and passport photographs.
- Accept the offer on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains what each status means.
- Pay acceptance and register: get the acceptance fee and school fees from the bursary in writing, pay through the channel the school names, then complete medical and departmental registration.
Warning
Temple Gate Polytechnic has no official website I could open: Wikipedia’s link to its tgp.edu.ng about page is marked as dead, and the other domain blogs cite could not be confirmed. A page, WhatsApp group or agent selling forms or reserved places may have nothing to do with the school. JAMB says admissions outside CAPS are illegal, so every genuine offer appears on your CAPS page.
Your chances of admission into Hospitality Management at Temple Gate
- The biggest risk is whether the course is taking students at all, since only JAMB’s list shows it. Settle that with the school first.
- The second risk is the O’level: no Chemistry credit, or no Biology or Agricultural Science credit, and you cannot be admitted under the base brochure rule.
- With 115 or more, the right credits and a confirmed intake, I would rate your chances as good.
- If Temple Gate is not admitting, Abia State Polytechnic in Aba lists Hospitality Management on JAMB’s list. Within Temple Gate, Business Administration and Management is the closest management course, though its UTME subjects are different.
- JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the deadline for 2026/2027 polytechnic admissions, so current candidates should keep checking CAPS until then.
What you study in ND Hospitality Management
Hospitality Management prepares you to run the parts of a hotel, restaurant or catering business that guests see and the parts they do not. Temple Gate has not published its curriculum, so this describes the ND in general terms.
- Food and beverage production: basic cookery, kitchen hygiene, menu planning and costing.
- Food and beverage service: restaurant and bar service, table settings and customer care.
- Accommodation operations: front office, reservations and housekeeping.
- Business support courses: introduction to tourism, nutrition, hospitality accounting, marketing and communication in English.
- SIWES placement, usually in a hotel, restaurant, eatery chain or catering outfit.
Duration and accreditation
The NBTE standard is two years full-time for the ND. Temple Gate has not confirmed its own course length. NBTE lists Temple Gate as a private polytechnic approved in 2009, but I could not confirm the accreditation status of Hospitality Management at the school, and none of the blog lists of its courses includes it. Ask to see the NBTE accreditation letter for the programme. It matters for HND admission elsewhere and for some employers.
Careers

Mistakes Hospitality Management applicants make
- Treating it as an arts course: the UTME needs Biology or Agricultural Science and the O’level needs Chemistry.
- Registering Food and Nutrition as a UTME subject: it counts only at O’level.
- Assuming the course is open because JAMB lists it: confirm the intake with Temple Gate.
- Paying an agent: buy forms only from the school and accept only on CAPS.
- Leaving out O’level from CAPS: upload it at a JAMB centre as soon as your result is out.

Sources and updates
The 2026/2027 polytechnic minimum of 100, the 31 December 2026 admission deadline and JAMB’s warning against admissions outside CAPS come from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria on 11 May 2026; the 2025/2026 figure of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025). The course list is from the Myschool reprint of JAMB’s course list for Temple Gate Polytechnic. The UTME subjects, O’level rules and polytechnic remarks for Hospitality Management are from the JAMB polytechnic brochure entry as reprinted by Myschool; no remark on that page names Temple Gate. The address, private ownership and 2009 approval year are from NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes. The age rule and the general five-credit rule are from a schoolings.org Temple Gate page (last modified September 2020), and the fee figures are from an o3schools post (26 January 2026); both are unofficial. Hospitality Management’s absence from the schoolings.org course list (2020) and the o3schools fee list (January 2026) was checked on both pages. The safe target score and the worked example are my own advice. Checked on 29 October 2026. This page will be updated when Temple Gate publishes a 2027/2028 notice.
