Clifford University Industrial Chemistry Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

Clifford University’s cut-off for Industrial Chemistry is the 150 it states for all courses. See the safe target score, UTME subject combination, O’level, Direct Entry, screening, the N845,000 fee and the CAPS steps.

The Clifford University cut-off mark for Industrial Chemistry is 150 in the UTME. Clifford University, Owerrinta states 150 as its general cut-off on its 2026/2027 admission notice, the same as JAMB’s national minimum for universities, and it has not published a separate figure for the B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry. So 150 is the official floor: reach it, choose Clifford, hold five credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and you can apply.

2027/2028 update: Clifford University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Industrial Chemistry sits in Clifford’s Faculty of Science. Below are the official figures, a safe target score (labelled as my advice), the subject combination checked against both JAMB’s brochure and Clifford’s own page, the Direct Entry routes, what is known about screening, the 2026/2027 fees, the CAPS steps and what the degree leads to.

This page is about Clifford University, the private Seventh-day Adventist university at Ihie, near Owerrinta, in Abia State. Its 2026/2027 admission notice says the JAMB cut-off is 150 and that candidates come in through UTME, Direct Entry or transfer. It gives no separate figure for Industrial Chemistry, so 150 is the number every UTME applicant for this course has to reach.

One admissions blog wrote in October 2025 that Clifford invites candidates with 130 and above who did not pick it as first choice. That post appeared before the 2026 UTME, cites no university notice, and sits below the 150 that Clifford itself now states, so do not plan around 130. A July 2025 Myschool news item on Clifford’s 2025/2026 screening gave no score at all. News Central published the full list of cut-offs that institutions declared at JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting, and Clifford is not on it, so there is no separate policy-meeting figure to quote.

Safe target score for Industrial Chemistry at Clifford (my advice)

Industrial Chemistry draws fewer applicants than Biochemistry or Microbiology, and Clifford is a small private university. A little margin above 150 still protects you if Clifford ranks candidates. These bands are my reading as an admissions adviser. Clifford has not published them.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Clifford Industrial Chemistry
Below 150Not eligible for any Clifford degree course
150 to 159Eligible; complete O’level and an early application matter most
160 to 179Good chance
180 and aboveStrong

For the 2027 UTME, I would aim for 165 or more. That also keeps Industrial Chemistry open at several state universities in the South East.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Clifford Industrial Chemistry

RequirementWhat appliesSource
UTME subjects (JAMB)Use of English, Chemistry, Mathematics and any of Physics, Biology or Agricultural ScienceJAMB brochure (Myschool reprint)
UTME subjects (Clifford)Chemistry and two of Physics, Biology and Mathematics (with English)Clifford requirements page
JAMB’s O’level ruleFive credits in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology or Agricultural ScienceJAMB brochure
Clifford’s O’level ruleFive credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and BiologyClifford requirements page
SittingsNot more than twoClifford requirements page
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO or NABTEB (SSCE or GCE) or equivalentClifford requirements page

This is the course where the two sources part ways, so read carefully. JAMB’s brochure makes Mathematics compulsory for Industrial Chemistry. Clifford’s own page lets you pick any two of Physics, Biology and Mathematics, which on paper allows Chemistry, Physics and Biology without Mathematics. JAMB’s rule decides whether your registration fits the course, so write Use of English, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics (or Biology). That satisfies both.

JAMB also allows Agricultural Science as the fourth subject and in place of Biology at O’level. Clifford’s page does not mention Agricultural Science at all, and it lists Biology among the five O’level credits. I would not rely on Agricultural Science for Clifford. Get a Biology credit.

JAMB’s brochure entry for Industrial Chemistry carries no remark specific to Clifford University, so the general JAMB rule and Clifford’s own page are the two things to satisfy.

Direct Entry into Industrial Chemistry at Clifford

Direct Entry candidates join at 200 level. For Industrial Chemistry, Clifford’s page lists one route, in addition to the O’level requirements:

  • Two A-level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology

JAMB’s general rule is narrower on A-levels: Chemistry and Mathematics. It also accepts an ND in Science Technology or another relevant ND with the UTME requirements. Clifford’s page names no ND route for this course. So A-level candidates should come with Chemistry and Mathematics, and ND holders should ask Clifford directly whether they will be considered before choosing it on JAMB.

Clifford’s Transfer and Direct Entry page adds three general rules: Direct Entry students start at 200 level, they must present a complete transcript or statement of result before admission, and all of them sit a university screening test except JUPEB candidates. Clifford runs its own JUPEB programme, which is one way into 200 level if you have no A-levels.

Clifford Post-UTME screening for Industrial Chemistry

Clifford has not published a screening date, fee or test format for Industrial Chemistry in any source I could reach. Its own pages confirm two things: the undergraduate requirements page tells applicants to come in through Post-UTME or Direct Entry, and the Direct Entry page says every Direct Entry candidate sits a screening test unless they hold JUPEB. Online applications go through the portal at soap.clifforduni.edu.ng.

A blog post from October 2025 said the form was free and that candidates would write an aptitude test on a date to be announced. Neither point appears on Clifford’s website, so ask the admissions office before you pay anyone for a form.

Worked example (illustrative only)

Clifford publishes no aggregate formula. The example below compares scores with the 150 floor and my target, and, in case a test is set, it uses the 50:50 method common at Nigerian universities (UTME divided by 8, plus half of the screening percentage). This is my illustration only.

  1. Somto: UTME 171 with Use of English, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, and five credits in one sitting. He is 21 above the floor and 6 above my target.
  2. If there is a test: Somto scores 60%. 171 divided by 8 is 21.38; half of 60 is 30. His illustrative aggregate is 51.38.
  3. Nneka: UTME 159 (19.88) and 72% at screening (36). Her aggregate is 55.88, ahead of Somto with 12 fewer UTME marks.
  4. Chinedu: UTME 190 with Chemistry, Physics and Biology but no Mathematics. Clifford’s page would allow it, but JAMB’s brochure lists Mathematics as a required subject, so he risks being flagged as having the wrong combination.

Register with Mathematics, secure your Biology and Physics credits, and practise English, Chemistry and Mathematics questions in case Clifford sets a test.

Clifford University Industrial Chemistry school fees and acceptance fee

Clifford posts its approved fees by programme on its website, under the heading “Approved school fees for 2026/2027 academic session”. The programme figures are labelled only “amount”, so treat them as the yearly charge for the course and ask the bursary what they cover, especially hostel and feeding, which the page does not list.

ItemAmount (2026/2027)Who pays
Acceptance feeN150,000New students, once
Matriculation feeN50,000100 level only
Industrial Chemistry programme amountN845,000Each session
Other Faculty of Science courses (for example Computer Science, Physics, Microbiology)N845,000For comparison
Nursing Science and Medical Laboratory ScienceN1,740,000 and N1,560,000For comparison

In 2026/2027 terms, a 100-level Industrial Chemistry student paying acceptance, matriculation and the programme amount needs N1,045,000 before hostel, feeding, books and personal costs. Clifford lets you pay the programme amount in full, or 60% for the first semester and 40% for the second. The bank account is printed on the fees page; copy it from that page yourself rather than from a message someone forwards to you.

How to apply for Industrial Chemistry at Clifford, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space, then your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN.
  2. Register for the UTME: choose Industrial Chemistry with Use of English, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics or Biology, and pick Clifford University. If Clifford was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before admission closes.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB office or accredited CBT centre, with your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB details. Clifford cannot offer you admission on CAPS without it.
  4. Apply on Clifford’s portal: go to soap.clifforduni.edu.ng (the Apply Now button on clifforduni.edu.ng leads there), create your account, choose Industrial Chemistry, fill the form and keep your printout.
  5. Confirm screening: call the admissions lines on Clifford’s homepage (08036970755 or 07034871571) and ask when and how Industrial Chemistry candidates will be screened.
  6. Accept on CAPS: on efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. In 2026 JAMB gave candidates four weeks to accept an offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay acceptance and fees, then clear: the 2026/2027 acceptance fee was N150,000 and the matriculation fee N50,000. Pay through the official account, then bring your original documents for clearance.

Warning

Clifford University has publicly warned that people pose as its staff. Pay only into the account on Clifford’s official fees page, ignore anyone selling a guaranteed place, and remember that a real offer always shows on JAMB CAPS.

Studying Industrial Chemistry at Clifford University

Industrial Chemistry is a four-year B.Sc. in Clifford’s Faculty of Science, or three years through Direct Entry at 200 level. It shares much of its early coursework with pure Chemistry and then turns toward manufacturing and process work.

Is Clifford Industrial Chemistry accredited?

Not confirmed. Clifford’s March 2023 announcement of full NUC accreditation covered eight programmes, and Industrial Chemistry was not among them; that list matched the eight courses Clifford introduced in 2022/2023, while Industrial Chemistry is one of the older programmes Clifford already ran. A 2024 convocation report said Clifford’s graduates were trained in programmes certified by the NUC, but it named no programme or status. Ask the department for Industrial Chemistry’s current NUC status before you pay fees, because accreditation affects NYSC mobilisation and how employers and postgraduate schools read your degree.

What you study

  • Chemistry core: inorganic, organic, physical and analytical chemistry.
  • Industrial processes: unit operations, process control and chemical technology.
  • Materials and products: polymers and plastics, petroleum and petrochemicals, paints, soaps and detergents, food processing.
  • Quality and environment: quality control, industrial waste management and safety.
  • Practice: industrial training (SIWES) in a plant or laboratory, and a final-year project.

Industrial chemists work in production and quality control at paint, plastics, beverage, cosmetics and pharmaceutical factories, in oil and gas service laboratories, in standards bodies, and in environmental monitoring. Registration with the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON) is the usual professional step.

Mistakes Industrial Chemistry applicants make

  • Leaving out Mathematics in the UTME: Clifford’s page allows it, but JAMB’s brochure requires Mathematics for Industrial Chemistry.
  • Counting on Agricultural Science: Clifford names Biology, not Agricultural Science.
  • Treating 150 as admission: it is only the minimum to be considered.
  • Using three sittings: Clifford allows not more than two.
  • Stopping at CAPS acceptance: you still pay acceptance and complete clearance.
