Clifford University Mathematics Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

Clifford University’s cut-off for Mathematics is the 150 it states for all courses. See the safe target score, UTME subject combination, O’level, Direct Entry, screening, the N845,000 fee and the CAPS steps.

The Clifford University cut-off mark for Mathematics is 150 in the UTME. Clifford University, Owerrinta states 150 as its general cut-off on its 2026/2027 admission notice, the same as JAMB’s national minimum for universities, and it has not published a separate figure for the B.Sc. Mathematics. So 150 is the official floor: reach it, choose Clifford, hold five credits in English, Mathematics and three of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Further Mathematics, and you can apply.

2027/2028 update: Clifford University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Mathematics sits in Clifford’s Faculty of Science. Below are the official figures, a safe target score (labelled as my advice), the subject combination checked against both JAMB’s brochure and Clifford’s own page, the Direct Entry routes, what is known about screening, the 2026/2027 fees, the CAPS steps and what the degree leads to.

This page is about Clifford University, the private Seventh-day Adventist university at Ihie, near Owerrinta, in Abia State. Its 2026/2027 admission notice says the JAMB cut-off is 150 and that candidates come in through UTME, Direct Entry or transfer. It gives no separate figure for Mathematics, so 150 is the number every UTME applicant for this course has to reach.

One admissions blog wrote in October 2025 that Clifford invites candidates with 130 and above who did not pick it as first choice. That post appeared before the 2026 UTME, cites no university notice, and sits below the 150 that Clifford itself now states, so do not plan around 130. A July 2025 Myschool news item on Clifford’s 2025/2026 screening gave no score at all. News Central published the full list of cut-offs that institutions declared at JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting, and Clifford is not on it, so there is no separate policy-meeting figure to quote.

Safe target score for Mathematics at Clifford (my advice)

Mathematics has one of the smaller applicant pools among science courses in Nigeria, and Clifford’s overall pool is small. Your O’level and your combination will usually decide things before your score does. These bands are my reading as an admissions adviser. Clifford has not published them.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Clifford Mathematics
Below 150Not eligible for any Clifford degree course
150 to 159Eligible; complete O’level and an early application matter most
160 to 179Good chance
180 and aboveStrong

For the 2027 UTME, I would aim for 160 or more. A higher score helps if you also want to apply for Computer Science or Statistics elsewhere.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Clifford Mathematics

RequirementWhat appliesSource
UTME subjects (JAMB)Use of English, Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry and Economics or GeographyJAMB brochure (Myschool reprint)
UTME subjects (Clifford)English Language, Mathematics, Physics and either Chemistry or GeographyClifford requirements page
JAMB’s O’level ruleFive credits including English Language, Mathematics and Physics or ChemistryJAMB brochure
Clifford’s O’level ruleFive credits in English Language and Mathematics, plus at least three of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Further MathematicsClifford requirements page
SittingsNot more than twoClifford requirements page
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO or NABTEB (SSCE or GCE) or equivalentClifford requirements page

JAMB’s general rule is flexible: Mathematics plus any two of Physics, Chemistry and Economics or Geography. Clifford narrows it. Physics is fixed, and the last subject is Chemistry or Geography. That rules out Economics at Clifford and rules out any combination without Physics. Write Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, which satisfies both sources and keeps Computer Science, Physics and engineering courses open as well.

The O’level rule is also tighter at Clifford. JAMB asks for English, Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry among five credits. Clifford wants English and Mathematics plus at least three science subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Further Mathematics. A candidate with Economics, Government and Geography as the other credits meets JAMB’s rule but not Clifford’s.

JAMB’s brochure entry for Mathematics carries no remark specific to Clifford University, so the general JAMB rule and Clifford’s own page are the two things to satisfy.

Direct Entry into Mathematics at Clifford

Direct Entry candidates join at 200 level. For Mathematics, Clifford’s page accepts one of these, in addition to the O’level requirements:

  • Two A-level passes not below grade C in Mathematics and Physics
  • NCE with merit passes in Mathematics and either Physics or Chemistry
  • OND or HND at upper credit in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or Engineering

JAMB’s general rule is two A-level passes in Mathematics and any other science, or NCE merit in Mathematics and one of Physics, Chemistry or Economics. Clifford is stricter on both: the A-level partner must be Physics, and an NCE in Mathematics/Economics does not fit Clifford’s page. Clifford adds the OND and HND route, which JAMB’s general text does not mention, so diploma holders should confirm the DE option on JAMB’s e-brochure during registration.

Clifford’s Transfer and Direct Entry page adds three general rules: Direct Entry students start at 200 level, they must present a complete transcript or statement of result before admission, and all of them sit a university screening test except JUPEB candidates. Clifford runs its own JUPEB programme, which is one way into 200 level if you have no A-levels.

Clifford Post-UTME screening for Mathematics

Clifford has not published a screening date, fee or test format for Mathematics in any source I could reach. Its own pages confirm two things: the undergraduate requirements page tells applicants to come in through Post-UTME or Direct Entry, and the Direct Entry page says every Direct Entry candidate sits a screening test unless they hold JUPEB. Online applications go through the portal at soap.clifforduni.edu.ng.

A blog post from October 2025 said the form was free and that candidates would write an aptitude test on a date to be announced. Neither point appears on Clifford’s website, so ask the admissions office before you pay anyone for a form.

Worked example (illustrative only)

Clifford publishes no aggregate formula. The example below compares scores with the 150 floor and my target, and, in case a test is set, it uses the 50:50 method common at Nigerian universities (UTME divided by 8, plus half of the screening percentage). This is my illustration only.

  1. Ebuka: UTME 168 with Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. He is 18 above the floor and 8 above my target.
  2. If there is a test: Ebuka scores 64%. 168 divided by 8 is 21; half of 64 is 32. His illustrative aggregate is 53.
  3. Adanna: UTME 155 (19.38) and 80% at screening (40). Her aggregate is 59.38, ahead of Ebuka with 13 fewer UTME marks.
  4. Kene: UTME 192 with Mathematics, Economics and Geography. JAMB’s general rule allows that, but Clifford’s page requires Physics, so he should not pick Clifford Mathematics with that combination.

Register with Physics, make sure three of your other credits are sciences, and practise English, Mathematics and Physics questions in case Clifford sets a test.

Clifford University Mathematics school fees and acceptance fee

Clifford posts its approved fees by programme on its website, under the heading “Approved school fees for 2026/2027 academic session”. The programme figures are labelled only “amount”, so treat them as the yearly charge for the course and ask the bursary what they cover, especially hostel and feeding, which the page does not list.

ItemAmount (2026/2027)Who pays
Acceptance feeN150,000New students, once
Matriculation feeN50,000100 level only
Mathematics programme amountN845,000Each session
Other Faculty of Science courses (for example Computer Science, Physics, Microbiology)N845,000For comparison
Nursing Science and Medical Laboratory ScienceN1,740,000 and N1,560,000For comparison

In 2026/2027 terms, a 100-level Mathematics student paying acceptance, matriculation and the programme amount needs N1,045,000 before hostel, feeding, books and personal costs. Clifford lets you pay the programme amount in full, or 60% for the first semester and 40% for the second. The bank account is printed on the fees page; copy it from that page yourself rather than from a message someone forwards to you.

How to apply for Mathematics at Clifford, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space, then your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN.
  2. Register for the UTME: choose Mathematics with Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or Geography, and pick Clifford University. If Clifford was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before admission closes.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB office or accredited CBT centre, with your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB details. Clifford cannot offer you admission on CAPS without it.
  4. Apply on Clifford’s portal: go to soap.clifforduni.edu.ng (the Apply Now button on clifforduni.edu.ng leads there), create your account, choose Mathematics, fill the form and keep your printout.
  5. Confirm screening: call the admissions lines on Clifford’s homepage (08036970755 or 07034871571) and ask when and how Mathematics candidates will be screened.
  6. Accept on CAPS: on efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. In 2026 JAMB gave candidates four weeks to accept an offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay acceptance and fees, then clear: the 2026/2027 acceptance fee was N150,000 and the matriculation fee N50,000. Pay through the official account, then bring your original documents for clearance.

Warning

Clifford University has publicly warned that people pose as its staff. Pay only into the account on Clifford’s official fees page, ignore anyone selling a guaranteed place, and remember that a real offer always shows on JAMB CAPS.

Studying Mathematics at Clifford University

Mathematics is a four-year B.Sc. in Clifford’s Faculty of Science, or three years through Direct Entry at 200 level. Clifford also runs Computer Science and Computer Science Education, and the early courses overlap.

Is Clifford Mathematics accredited?

Not confirmed. Clifford’s March 2023 announcement of full NUC accreditation covered eight programmes, and Mathematics was not among them; that list matched the eight courses Clifford introduced in 2022/2023, while Mathematics is one of the older programmes Clifford already ran. A 2024 convocation report said Clifford’s graduates were trained in programmes certified by the NUC, but it named no programme or status. Ask the department for Mathematics’s current NUC status before you pay fees, because accreditation affects NYSC mobilisation and how employers and postgraduate schools read your degree.

What you study

  • Analysis: calculus, real analysis and complex analysis.
  • Algebra: linear algebra, abstract algebra and number theory.
  • Applied mathematics: differential equations, mathematical methods, mechanics and numerical analysis.
  • Statistics and computing: probability, statistics, operations research and programming.
  • Practice: industrial training (SIWES) and a final-year project.

Mathematics graduates work in banking and insurance (many train as actuaries), data analysis, software and IT, statistics offices, operations research and teaching. A Mathematics degree with programming skills is also a common route into data science, and postgraduate study in statistics or financial mathematics is a natural next step.

Mistakes Mathematics applicants make

  • Writing Economics as a UTME subject: JAMB allows it, Clifford’s page does not.
  • Skipping Physics: Clifford makes Physics compulsory in the UTME for Mathematics.
  • Arts or commercial O’level credits: Clifford wants at least three of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Further Mathematics.
  • Treating 150 as admission: it is only the minimum to be considered.
  • Stopping at CAPS acceptance: you still pay acceptance and complete clearance.

Writing the UTME next year? Read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and work through the JAMB Chemistry syllabus and JAMB Geography syllabus. If you already have a score, see what to do with your JAMB result, and if you registered a different course, our JAMB change of course guide shows how to switch.
