Caritas University International Relations Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 & Admission Requirements

Caritas University lists International Relations, but JAMB’s Caritas course list and NUC’s results do not. See what that means, the 150 minimum, what to ask Caritas, and the best alternatives including Political Science.

Caritas University lists International Relations among its 2026/2027 programmes, but the course is not on JAMB’s list of Caritas courses, and the NUC’s 1990 to 2025 accreditation results show no International Relations row for Caritas. So there is no Caritas University International Relations cut-off mark you can register against on JAMB. If Caritas does admit into the course, the minimum would still be 150 in the UTME, JAMB’s 2026 floor for universities, not the 140 on Caritas’s website.

2027/2028 update: Caritas University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Check before you register

Do not choose “International Relations” at Caritas on your JAMB form; JAMB’s Caritas list does not offer it. Ask the Caritas admissions office in writing how International Relations applicants are registered and how the offer appears on CAPS, and get the answer before you pay any fee. If Caritas cannot show you the course on CAPS, register Political Science at Caritas or choose a university that has International Relations on its JAMB list.

Below I set out what each official source shows, the most likely explanations, what you should do if you want this course at Caritas, the subjects JAMB uses for International Relations elsewhere, and the alternatives in and around Enugu.

What could explain the gap

I can see three possible explanations. None has been confirmed by Caritas, so treat them as questions to put to the admissions office.

  • A new programme: Caritas may have started International Relations recently, before JAMB added it to the Caritas list and before any NUC visit. New programmes need NUC approval before students are admitted.
  • A naming mix-up: JAMB’s Caritas list has Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, which is not on Caritas’s website, while Caritas’s website has International Relations, which is not on JAMB’s list. The two names are easy to confuse, and one could be a listing error on either side.
  • Admission through another course: some universities register candidates under a related JAMB course and move them later. If Caritas does this, it must tell you in writing which JAMB course to choose.

Until Caritas answers, plan as though the course is not available through JAMB at Caritas.

2025/2026 (as titled)140Caritas admission notice signed by the Registrar, M. I. OnwukaOfficial, but the text is carried over from older years

The notice titled for 2025/2026 still refers to the “2019 JAMB UTME” and a closing date of 15 February 2025, so it is old text that Caritas keeps reposting. I use it only for two points that have stayed constant: the 140 figure and the statement that there is no Post-UTME screening test. Blogs such as O3schools (January 2026) and Studentship repeat both points.

The 140 on Caritas’s website is below JAMB’s 2026 minimum. JAMB has also said that admissions outside CAPS are illegal, so a score between 140 and 149 cannot produce a valid admission into any Caritas course. Plan with at least 150, and I would aim for 175 or more to keep public universities open as alternatives, since several of them set International Relations above their general minimum.

What to do if you want International Relations at Caritas

  1. Write to admissions: use the “Contact admissions” option on caritasuni.edu.ng or info@caritasuni.edu.ng and ask three things: is International Relations running for 2027/2028, which JAMB course should you choose, and does it have NUC approval.
  2. Keep the reply: a written answer protects you if a fee is later disputed. A phone conversation does not.
  3. Register a JAMB-listed course: if Caritas tells you to use Political Science, register Political Science at Caritas. Its subject combination is close to International Relations, and our Caritas Political Science guide has the details.
  4. Check CAPS: after admission, the course on your CAPS offer is the course JAMB records. If it says Political Science, that is the degree you are admitted into unless Caritas later processes an official change.
  5. Ask about NUC status: a programme with no NUC result has not yet been through accreditation. Ask for the NUC approval letter before you accept.

JAMB subject combination for International Relations (general line)

Because Caritas does not appear on JAMB’s International Relations entry, this is the general line other universities use. It helps you plan for an alternative university, and it shows how close International Relations is to Political Science.

RequirementJAMB general line (Myschool reprint)
UTMEEconomics, Literature in English and one of Geography, Government or History
O’levelFive credits including English Language, Government or History and three relevant subjects
Direct EntryTwo A-level passes in Social Science subjects from Government or History, Economics, Sociology and Business Management

Several universities have their own remarks on this entry, including GOUNI, which asks for an O’level credit in Mathematics. A combination of Economics, Literature in English and Government fits the general line for International Relations, the general line for Political Science, and the general line for Mass Communication. That makes it the safest choice while you wait for Caritas to answer.

O’level for Caritas’s Faculty of Management and Social Sciences

Whichever course you end up in, Caritas’s own faculty rule asks for credits in English, Mathematics, Economics and any other two subjects, in not more than two sittings. WAEC, NECO and NABTEB may be combined. For an international affairs path, make the other two Government and Literature in English or History.

Political Science degrees in Nigeria include international relations and foreign policy courses, and many diplomats and international affairs workers hold one. If you want a degree that is certain to appear on CAPS, Political Science at Caritas is the safe choice. You can still specialise in international relations at master’s level.

Alternatives to Caritas for International Relations

If the course itself matters more than the university, these options have clear JAMB and published positions:

Godfrey Okoye University in Enugu also lists International Relations on its website. Check JAMB’s GOUNI list and GOUNI’s own remarks before you register. Our Gregory guide notes that Gregory’s own International Relations programme has Full NUC accreditation.

How to apply to Caritas, step by step

These steps assume you register a course that is on JAMB’s Caritas list, such as Political Science, after Caritas has told you in writing how International Relations applicants are handled.

  1. Profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line registered with your NIN, then use the code to register.
  2. UTME registration: choose Caritas University and “Political Science”, and write Use of English, Government, Economics and Literature in English.
  3. O’level on CAPS: upload your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as it is out. CAPS cannot show you to Caritas without it.
  4. Caritas application: go to the admissions page on caritasuni.edu.ng, use the application link or the “Contact admissions” option, and apply for the course Caritas confirms in writing. Caritas has not published the 2026/2027 form price, so pay only the amount the official portal shows and keep the receipt.
  5. Screening: there is no written Post-UTME test on record. Expect Caritas to check your UTME score, subjects and O’level, and bring originals if you are called for document screening.
  6. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer once it appears. Our JAMB CAPS guide shows every screen.
  7. Acceptance and school fees: Caritas says its fees were revised but publishes no amounts. Pay only into the account on your official Caritas invoice, then print your JAMB admission letter.

If you already registered a different university and now want Caritas, see our JAMB change of institution guide. If your subjects need changing, see JAMB change of course.

What International Relations covers and where it leads

Where it is offered, a B.Sc. International Relations normally runs four years from 100 level. It covers international politics and theory, foreign policy analysis, diplomacy and protocol, international law and organisations such as the UN, AU and ECOWAS, international political economy, conflict and peace studies, and strategic studies, ending with a research project.

Graduates work in the foreign service, international organisations and NGOs, embassies and consulates, security and intelligence analysis, journalism, trade and investment promotion, and policy research. A Political Science degree leads into most of the same jobs, which is why it is the sensible fallback at Caritas.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Paying before you get a written answer: no published source confirms the course at Caritas.
  • Relying on 140: JAMB’s 150 is the floor for every university admission on CAPS.
  • Trusting an agent who promises an International Relations slot: only CAPS shows a valid admission.
  • Confusing International Relations with Industrial Relations and Personnel Management: they are different degrees with different subject combinations.
  • Forgetting Economics at O’level: Caritas’s faculty list names it for every course in the faculty.

Caritas International Relations: frequently asked questions

Is International Relations on JAMB’s list for Caritas University? No. JAMB’s list of 28 Caritas courses, checked on 30 October 2026, does not include International Relations, although Caritas’s website lists it.

What is the Caritas University International Relations cut-off mark? Caritas has published none. If the course is offered, plan with 150, JAMB’s 2026 university minimum, not the 140 on Caritas’s website.

Is International Relations at Caritas accredited by NUC? No NUC result for it appears in the 1990 to 2025 compilation. Ask Caritas for its NUC approval letter before paying.

What should I study at Caritas instead of International Relations? Political Science is the closest course on JAMB’s Caritas list, with Full NUC accreditation to 2028. ESUT’s International Relations and Diplomacy is the nearest public option.

Sources and updates

The 150 minimum, the 30 November 2026 deadline for private universities and the warning that admissions outside CAPS are illegal come from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). The 2025 minimum is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025). Caritas’s 140 figure, the statement that first-choice and other candidates may apply, the awaiting-result rule and the faculty O’level lists come from the Caritas University admissions page, read on 30 October 2026. The no-test statement comes from Caritas’s admission notice signed by the Registrar, M. I. Onwuka, with O3schools and Studentship as secondary confirmation. The course list comes from Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s Caritas course list (28 courses, no International Relations), and the general subject rules from the JAMB brochure entry for International Relations, which does not name Caritas, both checked on 30 October 2026. The absence of an International Relations row is from the NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 (September 2026). The ESUT, UNN and Gregory figures come from the notices covered in our linked guides. Caritas has published no explanation of the gap between its list and JAMB’s. Safe target scores and worked examples are my own advice, not Caritas figures. Checked on 30 October 2026; this page will be updated when Caritas or JAMB publishes 2027/2028 figures.
