Sure Foundation College of Nursing Sciences Admission Requirements 2027/2028: Status, Entrance Exam and Form

Sure Foundation College of Nursing Sciences, Ikot Akai got Provisional NMCN approval in October 2025 but has not published an admission advert. See what is confirmed and how to plan for 2027/2028.

Sure Foundation College of Nursing Sciences has not yet published admission requirements. What is confirmed is that the college, at Ikot Akai in Ukanafun LGA, Akwa Ibom State, was added to NMCN’s approved list in December 2025 with Provisional status from October 2025, marked “New”. The list does not say which programmes are approved. Until the college publishes an advert, the safe assumption is the standard nursing entry: five O’level credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, a UTME in Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and at least 150, JAMB’s 2026 minimum for colleges of nursing.

2027/2028 update: Sure Foundation College of Nursing Sciences admission requirements and entrance exam process usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the requirements on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest notice we could find (NMCN December 2025 list; no admission advert yet). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

This is a status page. It tells you what is known about the college, what is not, and how to avoid paying for a form before a genuine admission exercise opens.

What we know about the college

The college advertised for academic staff in July 2025, describing itself as newly established. The roles included lecturers for nursing and midwifery and for general courses, with applications closing on 7 August 2025. Three months later, NMCN gave it Provisional approval (October 2025), and it appears on the December 2025 list as entry 3.10 under Akwa Ibom.

The name matches Sure Foundation Polytechnic in Ukanafun, but I found no document confirming that the two are linked, so I am not treating them as one institution.

What Provisional approval means for a new college

NMCN gives new nursing colleges Provisional approval for two years after an initial visit. It allows the college to admit and train students while it works towards Full approval. For you, it means three things:

  • The college may admit: it is on the approved list, unlike unlisted schools.
  • Approval is not yet Full: NMCN will revisit, and the result decides whether the college moves to Full status.
  • Check the programme: the list does not say whether nursing, midwifery or both are approved. Ask before you apply.

Safe target score (consultant advice)

Aim for 170 or more. This is my advice. A new private college may admit close to the national minimum, but a higher score keeps your other options open if its first intake is delayed.

How to prepare while you wait for an advert

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN and your NIN to 55019 or 66019.
  2. Register for the 2027 UTME: Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
  3. Choose your institutions carefully: if Sure Foundation is not on JAMB’s list when you register, you cannot pick it. You can add it later through JAMB change of institution if it appears.
  4. Upload your O’level for CAPS.
  5. Wait for an official advert: from the college itself, naming the programme, fee and screening date.
  6. Check NMCN status again before paying.
  7. Accept only on CAPS: see our JAMB CAPS guide.

Warning

No admission advert from Sure Foundation College of Nursing Sciences was found up to 3 November 2026. Anyone selling its form before an official notice appears may be a scammer. Admissions outside JAMB CAPS are illegal under the Federal Government’s 2026 rules.

Worked example (illustrative)

Inemesit lives in Ukanafun and wants to study close to home. She scored 168 in the 2026 UTME with English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and has five science credits in WAEC. She clears JAMB’s 150 minimum. Because Sure Foundation had no advert or JAMB listing she could find, she put Maurid College of Nursing first and AKSCONS second, and she will watch for a Sure Foundation advert for 2027/2028.

Her cousin was offered a “Sure Foundation nursing form” through a WhatsApp contact for ₦25,000. With no official advert and no JAMB listing, that offer has nothing behind it. He should not pay.

About nursing training

What you would study

  • Nursing foundations: anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology and nutrition.
  • Clinical nursing: medical, surgical, paediatric and maternal nursing, with ward postings in hospitals.
  • Community health: primary health care, health education and home visits.
  • Mental health and other areas: introductions to psychiatric nursing, emergency care and nursing ethics.
  • Professional exams: NMCN’s examinations, which lead to registration as a nurse.

Careers

  • Hospital nursing: public and private hospitals, clinics and primary health centres.
  • Registration: with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria after passing its examinations; a current practising licence is needed to work.
  • Further training: post-basic courses such as midwifery or psychiatric nursing, or a BNSc at a university.
  • Other work: occupational health, school health services and NGO health programmes.

Red flags to watch for

  • A “form” sold through WhatsApp or a phone number on a forum: no official advert existed when I checked.
  • Admission promised without JAMB: admissions outside CAPS are illegal under the 2026 rules.
  • Programmes the college has not announced: NMCN’s list does not name any.
  • Pressure to pay quickly: genuine adverts give dates and an official payment channel.

How to check a college on the NMCN list yourself

  1. Open the list: NMCN publishes its list of approved colleges and departments of nursing as a PDF on nmcn.gov.ng (the December 2025 edition is the latest I found).
  2. Go to the state section: Akwa Ibom is section 3.0.
  3. Find the exact name and town: the college, the programme (nursing, midwifery or post-basic) and the status (Full, Provisional or Withdrawn) with its date.
  4. Work out the term: Full lasts five years and Provisional two years from the date shown.
  5. Ask the college about anything out of date: request the latest NMCN letter.

Who should wait for Sure Foundation

If you live in Ukanafun or nearby and want a college close to home, it is worth watching. But do not leave your 2027 UTME choices empty while you wait. Choose colleges that are already on JAMB’s list and admitting, and switch only when Sure Foundation publishes a genuine advert.

Documents and revision plan

The college has not published a document list, so this is the set most Nigerian nursing colleges ask for at screening and registration. Have it ready early.

  • JAMB documents: UTME result slip, registration slip and, after CAPS acceptance, the JAMB admission letter.
  • O’level: original result or statement of result, plus photocopies; scratch cards or verification details if asked.
  • Identity and origin: birth certificate or declaration of age, local government certificate of origin and NIN slip.
  • Photographs and files: recent passport photographs and folders for your documents.
  • Medical report: nursing colleges commonly ask for one after admission.
