Maurid College of Nursing Mbiaso Admission Requirements 2027/2028, Cut-Off and Form

Maurid College of Nursing, Mbiaso admits through JAMB: UTME in English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, five science credits and the 150 national minimum. NMCN approval is Provisional (July 2024).

The Maurid College of Nursing admission requirements, as its official website states them, are five O’level credits including English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in not more than two sittings, and a UTME in Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The college admits through JAMB, so the national minimum for colleges of nursing applies: 150 for 2026/2027. Maurid has not published a higher cut-off, a form fee or screening dates. It is a private college at Mbiaso, Nsit Ibom LGA, with Provisional NMCN approval from July 2024.

2027/2028 update: Maurid College of Nursing cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027 JAMB minimum; Maurid has not published its own figure). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Maurid College of Nursing Sciences held its second matriculation on Saturday 13 June 2026 at its sports ground in Mbiaso, so it has admitted at least two sets. NMCN’s list names it “Maurid College of Nursing Sciences, Uyo”, but the campus is at Mbiaso.

Maurid College of Nursing cut-off mark

SessionMaurid figureJAMB minimum for colleges of nursing
2026/2027Not published150
2025/2026Not published140

You may see 140 quoted as Maurid’s cut-off on third-party sites. That was JAMB’s national minimum for 2025, and it is below the 2026 minimum of 150. For 2027/2028, do not plan around anything lower than 150.

Safe target score (consultant advice)

Aim for 180 or more. This is my advice, not a Maurid figure. Private colleges often fill places closer to the national minimum than state colleges, but nursing is popular, and 180 gives you room if the college ranks by score.

Is Maurid College of Nursing accredited?

Maurid is on NMCN’s December 2025 list (entry 3.9) with nursing and midwifery at Provisional status from July 2024. Provisional approval lasts two years, so on paper it ran to about July 2026. I could not find the result of any NMCN revisit. The college was not on the August 2022 list, which fits a new college.

Provisional approval means NMCN has allowed the college to admit and train while it builds up to full standards. It is not the same as Full approval. Before you pay acceptance fees, ask the college for its latest NMCN letter and check that your set can be indexed with NMCN.

Check before you pay

Maurid’s NMCN approval was Provisional from July 2024, a two-year status. Ask the college for its current NMCN approval letter and confirm your indexing arrangements before you pay acceptance or school fees.

How Maurid admits students

The website tells admitted students to print their admission letter through a JAMB link, which means admission runs through JAMB CAPS. It does not publish a form price, screening date or interview. Private colleges usually sell a screening form and hold a test or interview, but I could not confirm Maurid’s process.

Worked example (illustrative)

  1. Ubong: 2026 UTME 176 in English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics; WAEC with all five credits. Above the 150 national minimum; meets the website’s requirements.
  2. Eno: UTME 192, credits in English, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry from WAEC and Physics from NABTEB. The website allows NABTEB in one sitting only, so she cannot mix it with WAEC.
  3. Aniekan: UTME 145. Below JAMB’s 2026 minimum of 150, so no college of nursing can admit him on that score.
  4. Imaobong: UTME 210 but took Government instead of Physics. Her UTME subjects do not match the website’s combination.

How to apply to Maurid College of Nursing

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN and your NIN to 55019 or 66019.
  2. Register for the 2027 UTME: Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Put Maurid as first choice if you are sure; otherwise use JAMB change of institution later.
  3. Upload your O’level: at a JAMB-accredited centre, so CAPS can see it.
  4. Contact the college: through mauridcollegeofnursing.edu.ng or at Mbiaso, for the form and screening dates.
  5. Ask for its current NMCN approval letter.
  6. Complete screening if asked, then accept on CAPS: see our JAMB CAPS guide.
  7. Print your admission letter and pay fees through the college’s official channel only.

Admission odds and advice

Maurid has not published its intake. As a newer private college, it is often less crowded than AKSCONS, whose 2026 floor was 190. If your score is between 150 and 190, Maurid is one of the few nursing options in the state you can still consider. If your score is above 190, compare it with AKSCONS ND Nursing, which has Full approval at most campuses.

  • Meet the exact UTME combination: English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
  • Score 150 at the very least; aim for 180.
  • Check NMCN status: Provisional since July 2024.
  • Budget: private fees are not published; ask before you accept.

About the college

Maurid College of Nursing Sciences is part of the Maurid Group of Schools, chaired by Dr Godwin Umontuen, with Mrs Confidence Umontuen as proprietress, according to reports of the June 2026 matriculation. The website names one programme, ND Nursing Sciences and Midwifery, and NMCN lists nursing and midwifery separately. Course length is not published.

What you study

  • Community health: primary health care, health education and home visits.
  • Mental health and other areas: introductions to psychiatric nursing, emergency care and nursing ethics.
  • Professional exams: NMCN’s examinations, which lead to registration as a nurse.

Careers

  • Hospital nursing: public and private hospitals, clinics and primary health centres.
  • Registration: with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria after passing its examinations; a current practising licence is needed to work.
  • Further training: post-basic courses such as midwifery or psychiatric nursing, or a BNSc at a university.
  • Other work: occupational health, school health services and NGO health programmes.

If your score is high enough for AKSCONS, its Full approval at most campuses is a real advantage. If your score is between 150 and 190, Maurid is the realistic option, as long as its NMCN status checks out.

Costs to ask about

  • Screening or application form
  • Acceptance fee and tuition
  • Hostel, uniforms and clinical kits
  • NMCN indexing and examination fees later in the programme

Mistakes to avoid

  • Planning around 140: it is below JAMB’s 2026 minimum.
  • Taking the wrong UTME subjects: Physics is part of the stated combination.
  • Mixing NABTEB with WAEC or NECO.
  • Paying before checking NMCN status.
