The Topfaith University Biotechnology cut off mark for 2027/2028 is, in practice, the JAMB national minimum of 150 for universities. Topfaith University, a private university in Mkpatak, Akwa Ibom State, has not published a separate cut-off for Biotechnology: Topfaith’s admissions page does not print a number. It only asks candidates to meet the UTME cut-off in the relevant subjects. Biotechnology holds Full NUC accreditation at Topfaith and costs ₦1.8 million a session for 2026/2027 freshers.
2027/2028 update: Topfaith cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Below are the official position, a safe target score, JAMB’s subject lines, what Topfaith has published about screening, a worked example with the first-year bill, the CAPS steps and the programme itself.
Topfaith University Biotechnology cut off mark 2027/2028 at a glance
| Item | Position | Source or status |
|---|---|---|
| Topfaith’s own cut-off for Biotechnology | Not published | Topfaith admissions page (checked 3 November 2026) |
| JAMB minimum for universities | 150 | Official (JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| Safe target score | 160 to 180 | My advice, not a Topfaith rule |
| Course name on JAMB’s list for Topfaith | Biotechnology | Myschool reprint of JAMB’s course list |
| Course name on Topfaith’s own list | Biotechnology (Faculty of Computing and Applied Sciences) | Topfaith’s 2026/2027 fees page |
| UTME subjects | Biology, Chemistry + one science | JAMB brochure (Myschool reprint); no Topfaith remark |
| Screening | Not published | Topfaith admissions page |
| NUC status | Full, due 2028 | NUC accreditation results, 1990 to 2025 |
| Tuition, 2026/2027 freshers | ₦1,800,000 | Official fees page |
| Acceptance fee | ₦100,000 (non-refundable) | Official fees page |

Is Biotechnology on JAMB’s list for Topfaith?
Yes. JAMB’s course list for Topfaith (Myschool reprint) has 24 course names, and Biotechnology is one of them. Topfaith’s 2026/2027 fees page also lists Biotechnology, at ₦1,800,000 a session for new students. So you can choose it on your JAMB profile and Topfaith can offer it to you on CAPS.
Two Topfaith programmes are missing from JAMB’s list, Medicine and Surgery and Cybersecurity, so the check is worth making for every course. Biotechnology is not affected.
Topfaith Biotechnology cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | Not published | Topfaith figure for Biotechnology | Admissions page asks only for the UTME cut-off |
| 2026/2027 | No score given | Myschool reprint of Topfaith’s Post-UTME notice (20 May 2026) | Reprint |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | Official |
Topfaith has never printed a course-by-course cut-off in any notice I could find. Blogs that quote one for Biotechnology do not cite a Topfaith document, so treat 150 as the floor and your own score margin as the thing you control.
Safe target score for Biotechnology at Topfaith (my advice)
This is my judgement as an admissions adviser. Topfaith University does not publish merit lists or the lowest score it admitted, so the bands below are planning ranges.
| Your UTME score | My read for Biotechnology at Topfaith |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for a university this session |
| 150 to 159 | Eligible. Admission is possible at a private university, but you have no margin |
| 160 to 179 | Comfortable for Biotechnology at Topfaith |
| 180 and above | Strong. You can also keep a federal or state university option open |
Biotechnology has moderate demand, lower than Biochemistry at most schools. For 2027 I would aim for 160 or more, ideally 180.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Biotechnology at Topfaith
| Requirement | Biotechnology at Topfaith |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects (JAMB brochure) | Use of English plus Biology, Chemistry and any other science subject |
| O’level (JAMB brochure) | Five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics |
| Topfaith’s own O’level rule | Five SSCE credits including English Language and Mathematics, in no more than two sittings (Topfaith admissions page) |
| Special Topfaith remark on JAMB’s page | None listed |
| Awaiting result | Topfaith has not published a rule; upload results to CAPS as soon as they are out |
JAMB’s UTME line leaves the third science open, so Physics, Mathematics or Agricultural Science all work. At O’level, Physics is named, so you need a credit in it.
Myschool links Topfaith’s Biotechnology to JAMB’s brochure page headed Biotechnology (the agric-biotechnology address); that is the line used here.
Direct Entry into Biotechnology
JAMB’s brochure line for Direct Entry: two A-level passes in Biology, Botany or Zoology and Chemistry or Physics. Topfaith’s own rule: five O’level credits plus two A-level passes, an ND or HND at credit level, or a first degree (Topfaith admissions page). Register Direct Entry with JAMB, not only on the Topfaith portal; a DE offer still has to appear on CAPS.
How Topfaith screening works for Biotechnology
Topfaith’s admissions page lists the entry routes (UTME, Direct Entry and transfer) and says applicants must choose Topfaith as first choice. It does not describe a test, give a screening date or name a form fee, and the Myschool reprint of its 2026/2027 notice (20 May 2026) adds no format either. Apply at topfaith.edu.ng/application and follow the instructions the portal gives for your session.
Worked example for a Biotechnology candidate
With no published screening formula, the useful sums are your score margin and your first-year bill.
- Score margin: Aniekeme scored 169. 169 minus 150 = 19 marks above JAMB’s floor; 9 above my safe target of 160.
- O’level check: credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics meet JAMB’s line.
- Known first-year cost: tuition of ₦1,800,000 plus the ₦100,000 acceptance fee = ₦1,900,000, before accommodation, books and other charges that the fees page lists separately or not at all.
- What I would advise: she is above my target. At ₦1.8 million, Biotechnology costs the same as Biochemistry at Topfaith.
Admission odds for Biotechnology at Topfaith
With 160 or more, the five science credits and Topfaith as first choice, a place is likely.
- Choose Topfaith first: Topfaith’s admissions page makes first choice a condition.
- Upload O’level early: no university can give you admission on CAPS without your results there.
- Apply before the private-university deadline: JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for private universities, so the 2026/2027 exercise runs until that date.
- Keep a second option: if you also hold a strong score, apply to a public university in the next cycle as well.
How to apply for Biotechnology at Topfaith, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME with the right subjects: Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics (or another science), with Topfaith University as your first choice. If Topfaith was not your first choice, fix that with a JAMB change of institution before screening.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as your results are out. Check that the grades show correctly.
- Apply on the Topfaith portal: topfaith.edu.ng/application. Fill the form with the same names as on your JAMB and O’level records.
- Complete screening: follow the steps the Topfaith portal gives, since no format has been published.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept the offer and print your JAMB admission letter. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each CAPS status.
- Pay acceptance and register: the acceptance fee for freshers is ₦100,000 and is not refundable, so accept on CAPS first and pay only through the official channel.
Warning
Every genuine Topfaith offer shows on JAMB CAPS. Do not pay anyone who promises a Biotechnology place or a “slot” outside the official portal; admissions outside CAPS are illegal, as JAMB restated in May 2026.
Fees for Biotechnology at Topfaith
Topfaith’s 2026/2027 fees page lists Biotechnology tuition at ₦1,800,000 per session for 2026/2027 freshers, with a ₦100,000 acceptance fee. The page does not list an application or screening fee. Accommodation and other charges are not part of the tuition figure, so ask the bursary for the full first-year bill before you accept.
Studying Biotechnology at Topfaith
Biotechnology sits in Topfaith’s Faculty of Computing and Applied Sciences. The B.Sc. normally runs for four years in Nigeria; Topfaith has not published its own duration on the pages I checked.
About Topfaith University
Topfaith University is a private university at Mkpatak in Akwa Ibom State. It held its first matriculation in May 2022, and its 2026/2027 fees page lists 26 programmes across five faculties: Computing and Applied Sciences, Engineering, Law, Management and Social Sciences, and Medical Sciences. NUC’s results list shows 13 Topfaith programmes with Full accreditation. Tuition ranges from ₦1.8 million to ₦3.6 million a session, so the fee is often the deciding factor for families choosing between Topfaith and a public university.
What you study
- Cell and molecular biology, genetics
- Microbiology and biochemistry for biotechnologists
- Genetic engineering and recombinant DNA techniques
- Industrial, agricultural and environmental biotechnology
- Bioinformatics, laboratory work and a final-year project
Accreditation
NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 list Topfaith’s Biotechnology as Full, with the next accreditation due in 2028. Topfaith also posted news of full NUC accreditation for its programmes, without naming them in the headline.
Full accreditation means the programme met NUC’s standards at its last visit, so the degree is recognised for NYSC and further study.
Careers
Biotechnology graduates work in pharmaceutical and vaccine production, food and brewing, agricultural research institutes, environmental clean-up, diagnostics and research. Many take a master’s in molecular biology or biotechnology.

Mistakes that cost Biotechnology applicants a place
- No Physics credit at O’level: JAMB’s line names it.
- Treating 150 as a guarantee: it only makes you eligible.
- O’level not on CAPS: without it, no offer can be made.
- Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: acceptance fee, clearance and registration at Topfaith are separate steps.
If you are writing the UTME again in 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and, if you chose another school, how to do a JAMB change of institution.
