There is no published Gregory University cut-off mark for Hotel Management and Tourism. Gregory University, Uturu (GUU) sets one minimum UTME score for all its courses: 140 in 2024/2025 (the university’s own notice) and again in 2025/2026. For 2026 admissions, though, JAMB raised the minimum for every Nigerian university to 150, so 150 is the lowest score you should plan with. For this course I would aim for 160 or more, and the bigger issue is your subject combination, which is science based in the JAMB brochure.
2027/2028 update: Gregory University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official figures: Gregory’s 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 notices and JAMB’s 2026 university minimum, since no Gregory 2026/2027 notice with a score was available. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Before you choose the course, note this: I could not confirm the NUC accreditation status of Hotel Management and Tourism at Gregory University. NUC’s online reports name Gregory’s Insurance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, International Relations, English and Medical Laboratory Science programmes, all with full accreditation after visits in late 2024, but none for this course, and Gregory’s entries in NUC’s 1990 to 2025 results publication could not be read. The course is on Gregory’s JAMB course list as “Hotel Management and Tourism” and the College of Social and Management Sciences lists it as a department, so it runs; ask the university in writing for its current NUC status before you pay acceptance.
If you want a programme with a published NUC result, Gregory’s own Business Administration holds full accreditation (92.00%, visit November 2024) and leads into hotel and tourism management jobs too. MOUAU offers Home Science, Hospitality Management and Tourism, though I could not confirm its NUC status either, and IMT runs Hospitality Management at polytechnic level if a diploma route suits you.

Gregory University cut-off mark history for Hotel Management and Tourism
| Session | Figure | What it means | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024/2025 | 140 | Lowest UTME score Gregory accepted for post-UTME screening, all courses | Official Gregory notice |
| 2025/2026 | 140 | Same minimum; Gregory had to be the first choice | Myschool reprint of the notice |
| 2026 (national) | 150 | JAMB’s minimum for every Nigerian university | JAMB policy meeting, reported by NAN |
| 2026/2027 (Gregory) | Not found | No Gregory notice with a score could be opened | Unverified |
| Hotel Management and Tourism | None published | Blog “departmental cut-off” figures cite no Gregory document | Unofficial |
Gregory has never published a separate figure for this course, so any site quoting one is guessing. Gregory’s 140 also cannot simply carry over into the 2026 cycle, because universities cannot admit below JAMB’s 150. If you scored between 140 and 149 in 2026, you are below the national line for universities this cycle.
Safe target score for Hotel Management and Tourism at Gregory University (my advice)
Gregory is a private university, and private universities tend to admit closer to the minimum than federal and state ones. Hotel Management and Tourism is one of the less crowded courses in Gregory’s social and management sciences college, so the score matters less than getting the right subjects. This table is my judgement, not a Gregory rule.
| Your UTME score | My read for Gregory Hotel Management and Tourism |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Below JAMB’s 2026 university minimum; not eligible |
| 150 to 159 | Eligible if your subjects and O’level credits match the brochure |
| 160 to 179 | Good chance |
| 180 and above | Strong |
I would aim for 160 or more. A higher score will not rescue a wrong subject combination, so check the next section before you register.
JAMB subject combination and O’level for Hotel Management and Tourism at Gregory University
| Requirement | What the JAMB brochure says |
|---|---|
| Course name on JAMB | Hotel Management and Tourism (placed under Agriculture in the brochure) |
| UTME | Use of English, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture, and Mathematics or Physics or one social science subject |
| O’level | Five SSCE credits in Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, Mathematics, Physics and English Language, with a list of other subjects such as Food and Nutrition, Fine Arts, Textile and catering subjects |
| Direct Entry | Two A-level passes or equivalents in Chemistry and one of Biology, Botany, Agricultural Science, Economics, Physics, Mathematics, Geography or Accounting |
| Gregory-specific remarks | None. The remarks name FUWUKARI and MOUAU only, so the general lines apply to Gregory |
This is the part that catches applicants out. JAMB files Hotel Management and Tourism under Agriculture, next to Home Science, so the UTME line is Use of English, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture, and one of Mathematics, Physics or a social science subject. An arts candidate who registers Literature, Government and CRS does not meet it. Chemistry is the fixed science, so do not drop it.
The O’level line lists Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, Mathematics, Physics and English Language, then adds a list of other subjects such as Food and Nutrition, Fine Arts, Textile and catering. Read literally, that is more than five subjects for five credits, so the safe reading is credits in English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology or Agricultural Science, plus Physics or one of the listed subjects. Ask Gregory which fifth credit it accepts before you pay for screening. Gregory’s 2025/2026 notice allowed two sittings.
MOUAU’s remark accepts English, Mathematics and Chemistry plus one of Physics, Economics or Government for this course, but that remark is MOUAU’s alone. It shows how much universities differ here, and why you should not assume Gregory follows it.
Direct Entry
The general line asks for two A-level passes or equivalents in Chemistry and one of Biology, Botany, Agricultural Science, Economics, Physics, Mathematics, Geography or Accounting. Gregory has no remark on this entry. ND and HND holders in Hospitality Management are covered only in other universities’ remarks, so ask Gregory in writing whether it accepts your diploma and at what level.
How Gregory University screens applicants
Gregory runs an online post-UTME screening. The details below come from two notices: the university’s own 19 August 2024 notice for 2024/2025, and the 2025/2026 notice as reprinted by Myschool on 24 July 2025. I could not open a 2026/2027 notice, though a news summary says Gregory opened 2026/2027 post-UTME, Direct Entry, transfer, JUPEB and IJMB admissions.
| Detail | What the notices said |
|---|---|
| Who could apply | 2025/2026: candidates who chose Gregory as first choice and scored at least 140. Others had to do a change of institution at a JAMB office or accredited CBT centre first |
| Where to apply | gregoryuniversityuturu.edu.ng/postutme |
| Steps (2024 notice) | Fill the form, upload a passport photograph and other documents, then pay online |
| Documents (2025 notice) | Passport photograph and UTME result as PDF files, plus WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result (maximum two sittings) |
| Fee | ₦2,000, non-refundable, by ATM card (2025/2026) |
| Written test or interview | Not stated in either notice |
| Enquiries | 0806 094 4681 and 0803 733 3920 (2024 notice) |
Neither notice describes a written test, so plan as if Gregory will rank you on your UTME score and O’level grades. For this course, your English, Mathematics and Chemistry grades will carry the most weight.
Worked example for Hotel Management and Tourism applicants
Gregory has not published an aggregate formula. To show how O’level grades can move you up or down, I use an illustrative method common at Nigerian universities: UTME score divided by 8 (up to 50 points) plus O’level points for five relevant subjects, where A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6 and C6 = 5 (up to 50 points). This is my example, not Gregory’s formula.
- Chinonso scored 158 with B3, B2, B3, B2, C4 in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Food and Nutrition. UTME points: 158 ÷ 8 = 19.75. O’level points: 8 + 9 + 8 + 9 + 7 = 41. Illustrative total: 60.75.
- Ifeoma scored 176 with C6, C5, C6, C5, C6 in the same five subjects. UTME points: 176 ÷ 8 = 22. O’level points: 5 + 6 + 5 + 6 + 5 = 27. Illustrative total: 49.
- The result: Chinonso leads by 11.75 points, even though Ifeoma scored 18 more marks in the UTME, because Chinonso’s O’level points are 14 higher.
How to apply for Hotel Management and Tourism at Gregory University, step by step
- Get a JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the SIM linked to that NIN. The code arrives by SMS.
- Register the UTME correctly: choose Hotel Management and Tourism at Gregory University, Uturu as your first choice, with Use of English, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture, and Mathematics, Physics or one social science subject. If Gregory is not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before you apply for screening.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: at an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your result is out. Check that every required credit shows on your JAMB profile.
- Apply for Gregory’s screening: go to gregoryuniversityuturu.edu.ng/postutme, fill the form, upload your passport photograph, UTME result and O’level as PDF files, and pay the fee online (₦2,000 in 2025/2026).
- Keep your records: save the payment receipt and the printout of your completed form for clearance.
- Check your status: watch the Gregory portal and your JAMB CAPS page. Every offer appears on CAPS.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gives four weeks. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and fees: Gregory’s acceptance and tuition fees were not in any official source I reached. Pay only the amount on your Gregory portal invoice.
Warning
Every genuine Gregory University offer appears on JAMB CAPS, and JAMB said in May 2026 that admission outside CAPS is illegal. Gregory says it has authorised no agents. Pay screening, acceptance and school fees only through the university’s official portal.
JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities such as Gregory, and in September 2026 it kept the existing deadlines when it restored CAPS (Nairametrics, 28 September 2026). If you applied in 2026, check CAPS rather than waiting for a printed list.
Hotel Management and Tourism at Gregory University: the programme
Gregory University is a private university licensed in 2012, on a 100-hectare site at Amaokwe Achara, Uturu, in Isuikwuato LGA of Abia State. Its founder is Prof. Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe. Its College of Social and Management Sciences, headed by Dr. Samson A. Nzeribe as dean, lists Hotel Management and Tourism among ten departments. The college narrative writes it as “Hotel and Management Tourism”, a slip; the department table and the JAMB list both use Hotel Management and Tourism.
What you study
Gregory has not published a course outline for Hotel Management and Tourism that I could reach. Degrees in this field in Nigeria mix food science with management. You can expect:
- Foundations: introductory chemistry and biology, food science, nutrition, business mathematics and economics.
- Hotel operations: front office, housekeeping, food production and food and beverage service.
- Tourism: principles of tourism, travel and tour operations, and event management.
- Management: hospitality accounting, marketing, human resources and entrepreneurship.
- Practice: practical kitchen and restaurant work, SIWES in a hotel or travel firm, and a final-year project.
Accreditation, degree and duration
I could not confirm NUC accreditation for Gregory’s Hotel Management and Tourism. None of NUC’s online programme reports I found names this Gregory programme, and NUC’s results publication could not be read as far as Gregory. Ask the department for its latest NUC result letter before you pay acceptance.
The degree is normally a B.Sc, and four years is the usual length for UTME entrants, with Direct Entry students joining at 200 level. Gregory’s own page does not state either.
Careers
- Management trainee roles in hotels, resorts and serviced apartments.
- Food and beverage supervision in restaurants, hotels and catering firms.

If you are writing the UTME in 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts, and once results are out, see how to check your JAMB result. Changing your mind about the course later is possible through a JAMB change of course, which is easier before admission starts than after.
Mistakes that cost Hotel Management and Tourism applicants a Gregory place
- Treating 140 as the 2026 figure: JAMB’s 2026 university minimum is 150.
- Registering arts subjects in the UTME: the brochure needs Chemistry and Biology or Agriculture.
- No credit in Chemistry: it is in both the UTME and O’level lines.
- Not putting Gregory first: the 2025/2026 notice admitted only first-choice candidates.
- Paying acceptance without asking about NUC status: no NUC result for this Gregory programme was found.
- Missing the CAPS window: JAMB gives four weeks to accept an offer.

Sources and updates
The 140 minimum for 2024/2025, the application steps and the enquiry numbers come from Gregory University’s notice of 19 August 2024. The 2025/2026 first-choice rule, the ₦2,000 fee, the upload list and the two-sitting rule come from the notice as reprinted by Myschool (24 July 2025); I could not open the original. The national minimum of 150, the CAPS window and the warning on admission outside CAPS come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026), and the deadline position from Nairametrics (28 September 2026). The course name comes from Gregory’s JAMB course list and the UTME, O’level and Direct Entry rules from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure entry for Hotel Management and Tourism, both checked on 29 October 2026. The department list comes from Gregory’s College of Social and Management Sciences page and the founding details from its About page. NUC’s report on Gregory’s Business Administration is among the Gregory reports I found; none covers Hotel Management and Tourism, and Gregory’s line in NUC’s accreditation results, 1990 to 2025 could not be read. The safe target table and the worked example are my own advice and illustration. Gregory’s 2026/2027 notice, fees, test format, NUC status, the accepted fifth O’level credit, degree title and duration were not available. Checked on 30 October 2026; this page will be updated if Gregory publishes a new notice or NUC publishes a new result for Hotel Management and Tourism.
