Spiritan University Business Administration and Marketing Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

Spiritan University uses JAMB’s 150 minimum for Business Administration and Marketing, and candidates register it on JAMB as Business Administration. See the subject combination, O’level, Direct Entry, how to apply and accreditation.

The Spiritan University Business Administration and Marketing cut-off mark is 150 in the UTME for the 2026/2027 session. Spiritan University, Nneochi applies JAMB’s national minimum for universities and has not published a higher departmental figure. One detail trips people up: on JAMB the course is listed as Business Administration, even though the university calls the degree B.Sc. Business Administration and Marketing.

2027/2028 update: Spiritan University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Below you will find the official numbers, my safe target score, the brochure subject rules, Direct Entry options, how Spiritan takes applications, a worked example, and what the January 2022 NUC visit means for this programme.

Which course do you pick on JAMB?

Spiritan’s JAMB course list, as reprinted by Myschool, has 17 courses. The management ones are Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Economics and Political Science. There is no separate “Marketing” or “Business Administration and Marketing” entry for Spiritan.

The JAMB brochure does contain a course called “Business Administration / Marketing”, which some other universities use. If you pick that entry with Spiritan as your institution, the course will not match Spiritan’s list. Choose Business Administration under Spiritan University. The university’s admissions page and Myschool’s July 2024 report both call the degree Business Administration and Marketing, and NUC’s 2022 visit list called it Business Administration, so the names refer to the same department.

Spiritan has not set its own floor in any year I could trace. It works from JAMB’s minimum, and the 2022 blog figure of 140 matches what JAMB set for universities that year.

Safe target score for Business Administration at Spiritan (my advice)

Nothing in this section comes from Spiritan. It is my reading as an admissions adviser, based on how small private universities in the South-East usually fill their places.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Spiritan Business Administration
Below 150Not eligible for a 2026/2027 university place anywhere, Spiritan included
150 to 169Eligible. A place is realistic if your O’level credits are complete and you apply early
170 to 199Comfortable for Spiritan, with room to spare if the university raises its bar
200 and aboveStrong. You can also compete for the same course at public universities

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 180 or more. Spiritan is a small private university, so 150 to 170 with a clean O’level is often enough there. The higher target protects you if you later decide to apply elsewhere or if the university tightens its bar for a popular course.

Subject combination and O’level for Business Administration at Spiritan

These rules come from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure entry for Business Administration. The page carries 57 institution-specific remarks, none for Spiritan, so the general rules apply.

RequirementBusiness Administration at Spiritan
Course name on JAMBBusiness Administration
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject
O’levelFive credits including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjects
SittingsNot more than two
Direct EntryTwo A level passes including Economics
Special Spiritan remarkNone in the brochure

Two remarks on the page are worth knowing about because blogs repeat them as if they apply everywhere. Renaissance University and Crescent University accept Commerce in lieu of Economics at O’level. Spiritan has no such waiver, so a credit in Economics is the safe route. For the fourth UTME subject, Government, Geography or Commerce all count as Social Science choices.

Direct Entry

The general rule is two A level passes including Economics. The brochure’s 25 Direct Entry remarks list ND, HND and other alternatives for specific universities, but none of them names Spiritan. If you hold an ND in Business Administration or Marketing, ask the Registrar whether Spiritan accepts it before you buy the JAMB DE form. DE students normally start at 200 level.

How Spiritan screens Business Administration and Marketing applicants

Spiritan does not run the large Post-UTME portal process you see at public universities. Its 2026/2027 admissions page, signed by the Ag. Registrar, says admission is in progress and gives two ways in: an online form linked from the page, or a paper form from one of thirteen sales points across six states and Abuja. The page adds that candidates who did not choose Spiritan in JAMB can still apply, and a July 2025 university notice told such candidates to do a change of institution right away.

The admissions page does not describe a screening test, an aggregate formula or a form fee. Blog reports from the 2022 cycle described a Post-UTME screening exercise for which candidates with 140 and above were eligible. A later blog page labelled 2026/2027 repeats dates that do not match the calendar, so I would not plan around it. Call the Registrar’s line, 0703 986 5805, to ask whether there is a test or interview for this year’s intake and what to bring.

One oddity: the requirements text on the 2026/2027 page still says “National Cutoff Score in the 2025/2026 UTME”. The national minimum was 150 in both years, so in practice nothing changes. Read it as the current year’s minimum.

Worked example

With no published aggregate, I check three things: the score margin, the subjects and the O’level.

Chinedu scored 164 in English, Mathematics, Economics and Commerce. He has C4 in English, C5 in Mathematics, B3 in Economics, C4 in Commerce and C6 in Civic Education over two sittings.

  1. Eligibility: 164 minus 150 = 14. He meets the minimum.
  2. Against my safe target: 180 minus 164 = 16 short. Fine for Spiritan, tight for most public universities.
  3. UTME subjects: Mathematics, Economics and Commerce, which counts as the other Social Science subject. Correct.
  4. O’level: English, Mathematics and Economics credits plus two more, in two sittings. He qualifies.
  5. Course name: he must have registered Business Administration with Spiritan, not “Business Administration / Marketing”.

Adaeze scored 188 but registered Business Administration / Marketing with another university as first choice. Her score is fine. She needs a change of institution to Spiritan with the course name Spiritan uses, then the Spiritan form.

How to apply for Business Administration and Marketing at Spiritan

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN. You need the code to buy the UTME e-PIN.
  2. Register the right course: pick Business Administration under Spiritan University with Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and one other Social Science subject. Make Spiritan your first choice. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution before you apply.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to a JAMB-accredited CBT centre with your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB details and have the result uploaded. Spiritan cannot see grades that are not on CAPS.
  4. Fill the Spiritan application form: open the “Click Here to Apply” link on the university’s admissions page, or buy the form at one of the sales points in the table above. The form price is not published, so ask the Registrar’s line (0703 986 5805) before you pay anything.
  5. Attend screening: sit any test or interview the university fixes and bring originals of your JAMB result slip and O’level results. Ask the admissions office for the full document list.
  6. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB gives four weeks to accept an offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay acceptance and register: a 2022 blog report put the acceptance fee at ₦20,000, non-refundable. Spiritan has not published a current figure, so confirm on the student portal or with the bursary before paying.

Warning

Spiritan’s application form is a link on its own admissions page and paper forms are sold at named Spiritan parishes and schools. Do not pay any agent who promises a guaranteed place, and treat any offer that does not show on JAMB CAPS as fake. Admissions done outside CAPS are illegal.

If you wrote the 2026 UTME and still want a place this session, move quickly. JAMB told private universities to finish 2026/2027 admissions by 30 November 2026 (public universities had until 31 October). Offers that are not accepted on CAPS in time are withdrawn.

Studying Business Administration and Marketing at Spiritan

The programme sits in the Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences and runs for four years for UTME entrants. It was among the ten take-off programmes when Spiritan opened in 2018/2019.

What you study

  • Foundation years: principles of management, introductory economics and accounting, business mathematics and statistics, plus general studies and entrepreneurship.
  • Management core: organisational behaviour, human resource management, production and operations management, business policy and strategy.
  • Marketing: principles of marketing, consumer behaviour, sales management, marketing research and advertising.
  • Final year: strategic management, entrepreneurship and a research project.

This is the typical outline of a Nigerian B.Sc. in this area. Spiritan has not posted its course list online, so ask the department for the current handbook.

Is Business Administration and Marketing at Spiritan University accredited?

Business Administration was one of the ten programmes Spiritan presented for its first NUC accreditation exercise. The university’s own report says ten NUC panels, each with a coordinator and three professors, visited from 19 to 29 January 2022 as part of the October/November 2021 round. Myschool reported on 9 May 2022 that seven of the ten earned full accreditation and three got interim status.

Neither the university nor Myschool said which three programmes were interim, and I could not find an NUC technical report naming Spiritan’s programmes on the NUC website. NUC full accreditation normally lasts five years and interim two, so a 2022 result is due for renewal around now. Ask the department for its current status before you pay the acceptance fee. A programme with expired or denied accreditation cannot admit new students.

Careers

Graduates go into sales and marketing, brand management, banking and insurance, human resources, procurement, small business management and the civil service. Many take a professional route such as the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) or the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM). Those bodies set their own entry rules, so check them directly.

About Spiritan University, Nneochi

Spiritan University is a private Catholic university owned by the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (the Spiritans), Province of Nigeria South-East. The Federal Executive Council approved it on 6 December 2017 and it started lectures in the 2018/2019 session. The campus sits on Ajali-Ihube-Lomara Road, Nneato-Isuochi, in Umunneochi LGA, a rural part of Abia State close to the Enugu and Anambra borders. The university describes itself as the second full university owned by the Spiritans worldwide, after Duquesne University in the United States.

Its 2026/2027 admissions page lists four faculties: Arts, Management and Social Sciences; Natural and Applied Sciences; Law; and Allied Health and Basic Medical Sciences. The last two are new. In March 2026 the university reported that NUC had finished an accreditation visit to the Faculty of Allied Health.

These share the Mathematics and Economics core, so a CAPS transfer between them is easy if one fills up. For revision, see our JAMB Economics syllabus.

Mistakes Business Administration applicants make

  • Wrong course name on JAMB: register Business Administration under Spiritan.
  • No Economics in the UTME: the brochure requires it alongside Mathematics.
  • Commerce instead of an Economics credit: Spiritan has no waiver for this.
  • Forgetting CAPS: O’level upload and offer acceptance both happen on JAMB’s platform.
  • Waiting too long: private universities had until 30 November 2026 for this session.

If you are resitting in 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and how to check your JAMB result.
