Topfaith University Cut-Off Mark for Nursing Science 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

Topfaith University has not published a Nursing cut-off; JAMB’s 150 is the floor. Topfaith says NMCN approved an intake of 100, but the school is missing from NMCN’s December 2025 list. Subjects, fees, a safe target and what to check.

Topfaith University has not published a cut-off mark for Nursing Science. The official minimum is 150, JAMB’s 2026 floor for universities. Topfaith’s admissions page asks only that you “meet cut-off marks in UTME in relevant subjects” and gives no number. Nursing started at Topfaith in 2023/2024 with NUC approval, Topfaith says the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) approved an annual intake of 100, and tuition for 2026/2027 is ₦2,500,000 a session.

2027/2028 update: Topfaith University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Below you will find what Topfaith has published, a safe target score (clearly marked as my advice), the UTME and O’level subjects from JAMB’s brochure, how Topfaith admits through its portal and JAMB CAPS, the 2026/2027 fees, and where Nursing Science stands with the regulators.

So the only number you can treat as official is 150. Topfaith takes its students through JAMB, and JAMB will not let any university admit a 2026 candidate below that line. If a blog shows you a “Topfaith Nursing Science cut-off” of 180 or 200, ask where it came from: none of the figures I have seen cites a Topfaith document.

Nursing started at Topfaith in October 2023, so the first class had not graduated by the 2026/2027 session. Topfaith has not released a departmental cut-off.

Safe target score for Nursing Science at Topfaith (my advice)

This is my judgement as an admissions adviser, built from how young private universities in Nigeria usually fill their places. It is not a Topfaith rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Nursing Science at Topfaith
Below 150Not eligible this session
150 to 184Eligible, but weak for Nursing
185 to 209Possible with strong science grades
210 to 239Good. This is the range I would aim for
240 and aboveStrong

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 210, with B grades in Biology and Chemistry. Nursing quotas are set by the NMCN, and Topfaith’s reported quota of 100 a year is small compared with demand for nursing in Akwa Ibom.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Nursing Science at Topfaith

RequirementNursing Science at Topfaith
UTME subjects (JAMB brochure)Use of English, Chemistry, Biology and Physics
O’level (JAMB brochure)Five credits in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English Language
O’level (Topfaith rule for every course)Five credits in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, at no more than two sittings
Topfaith remark in the brochureNone. The Myschool reprint of JAMB’s Nursing/Nursing Science page lists no Topfaith-specific remark, so the general line applies
Direct Entry (JAMB brochure)A-level passes in two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics; registered nurses (RN) with five relevant credits are also listed
Direct Entry (Topfaith)Five credits plus at least two A-level passes in relevant subjects, or an ND or HND with credit, or a good first degree
TransferJAMB admission letter, transcript and an attestation letter from your previous university

Physics is the subject Nursing candidates drop most often. JAMB’s general line is Chemistry, Biology and Physics with English, and the brochure has no Topfaith exception.

All five O’level credits are required: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English. AAU and some others demand one sitting; Topfaith allows two.

How Topfaith screens Nursing Science applicants

Topfaith states that all its admissions go through JAMB. You apply online on the Topfaith portal, upload your documents, and choose Topfaith as your first choice on JAMB. The 2026/2027 notice does not publish a Post-UTME test, a test date, a form price or a scoring formula, so I cannot tell you whether Nursing Science applicants sit a paper test or are judged on UTME and O’level alone.

Worked example (illustrative)

With no published formula, the useful sum is the gap between your score, the 150 floor and my safe target of 210. These candidates are made up to show the method.

Take Comfort, who scored 219 and has B2 in Biology, B3 in Chemistry, C4 in Physics, C5 in Mathematics and B3 in English from one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 219 minus 150 = 69. Comfort clears the JAMB floor by 69 marks.
  2. Against my safe target: 219 minus 210 = 9. Comfort sits 9 marks above the score I would call safe.
  3. O’level check: all five credits, one sitting.
  4. What I would advise: apply early, and before paying ask Topfaith to show the NMCN approval letter and its current status.

Victor scored 193. 193 minus 150 = 43, so the score itself is enough to be considered. He has all five credits from two sittings. He is in the possible band; if the 100 places fill above him, he should be ready to accept Public Health or another health course if offered on CAPS.

Your chances of getting Nursing Science at Topfaith

Topfaith is a young private university in Mkpatak, Essien Udim LGA. Its first students matriculated in May 2022, and it now lists 26 programmes on its 2026/2027 fees page. Private universities in Akwa Ibom draw far fewer UTME applicants than the University of Uyo, and fees screen out many families, so a candidate who clears 150 and has clean O’level results is usually in a stronger position at Topfaith than at a federal university with the same score.

With a reported NMCN quota of 100, Topfaith Nursing is one of its tighter classes. A score above 200 with clean science grades gives you a reasonable chance; below 185 I would have a backup.

How Topfaith compares with other Akwa Ibom universities

UniversityType2026/2027 minimum
University of Uyo (UNIUYO)Federal150, with UNIUYO as first choice (UNIUYO 2026/2027 notice). NMCN lists UNIUYO’s Department of Nursing as Provisional (August 2025)
Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU)State150 (reprint of AKSU 2026/2027 notice). AKSU set 290 for Nursing in 2025/2026
Ritman University, Ikot EkpenePrivateNo published figure; JAMB floor of 150 applies

JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities; that date has now passed. Private universities, Topfaith included, have until 30 November 2026, so admissions at Topfaith can still move on CAPS this month.

How to apply for Nursing Science at Topfaith, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: choose Nursing Science with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and make Topfaith University your first choice. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution at a JAMB CBT centre.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at an accredited JAMB CBT centre as soon as your result is out. Check that English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology all show.
  4. Apply on the Topfaith portal: open topfaith.edu.ng/application, click “Start Application”, fill the form and upload the documents it asks for.
  5. Follow the screening instructions: Topfaith contacts applicants about the next step. If you hear nothing, write to admissions@topfaith.edu.ng with your JAMB number.
  6. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay the acceptance fee and register: the acceptance fee is ₦100,000 and is not refundable. Pay it and the ₦2,500,000 tuition only through channels Topfaith confirms, then print your JAMB admission letter.

Confirm NMCN status before paying

Nursing graduates can only be inducted and licensed if their school is approved by the NMCN. Topfaith reports an approval, but its name does not appear in the NMCN December 2025 list as we read it. Ask for the NMCN letter and check the NMCN website before you pay.

Studying Nursing Science at Topfaith University

Nursing Science is in Topfaith’s College of Medical Sciences and leads to the Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.N.Sc.). Nigerian B.N.Sc. programmes normally run for five years, though Topfaith’s fees page does not state the length.

Accreditation

The NUC approved Nursing Science as one of eight new Topfaith programmes, with teaching from October 2023, after a visit in April 2023 (Topfaith news). A later NUC resource verification visit to the Engineering and Medical Sciences faculties named Nursing Science among the programmes checked. The NUC’s results list (September 2026) has no Nursing row for Topfaith yet.

For nursing, the NMCN matters as much as the NUC. A Topfaith news article reports that, after an NMCN advisory and resource verification visit in October 2023, the Council approved an intake of 100 students a year for the Department of Nursing Sciences. The article does not say whether the approval is full or provisional.

However, the NMCN’s “Updated List of Approved Colleges of Nursing and Departments of Nursing” dated December 2025 does not list Topfaith in its Akwa Ibom section, which does include the University of Uyo’s department (Provisional, August 2025). The list may lag behind recent approvals. Treat Topfaith’s NMCN status as unconfirmed until you see the letter or the NMCN updates its list.

What you study

  • Early years: anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and foundations of nursing.
  • Clinical nursing: medical-surgical, maternal and child health, community health and mental health nursing.
  • Practice: supervised ward and community placements across the clinical years.
  • Licensing: NMCN professional examinations and induction, then internship.

Careers

Nurses work in hospitals, primary health centres, schools, companies, the armed forces, NGOs and nursing education. With further training they move into midwifery, critical care, anaesthetic or public health nursing.

Fees in the College of Medical Sciences, 2026/2027

ProgrammeTuition per session (₦)
Medicine and Surgery (MBBS)3,600,000
Nursing Science2,500,000
Medical Laboratory Science2,200,000
Public Health1,900,000

Add the ₦100,000 acceptance fee in your first year. The fees page does not break down accommodation, feeding or other charges, so ask the bursary for the full first-year bill before you accept.

For UTME preparation, use our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus.

Mistakes that cost Nursing Science applicants a Topfaith place

  • No Physics in the UTME: JAMB’s Nursing line includes it.
  • Not checking the NMCN list: it decides whether you can be licensed.
  • Ignoring a CAPS transfer offer: with 100 places, a related course may be the realistic option.
  • Leaving O’level off CAPS: JAMB cannot process an admission without it.
  • Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: acceptance fee payment and registration at Topfaith are separate steps.

Sources and updates

The application rules, the online portal and the contacts come from Topfaith’s admissions page; tuition and the ₦100,000 acceptance fee come from its fees page for 2026/2027 freshers (both checked 3 November 2026). The absence of a cut-off figure is confirmed by Myschool’s reprint of Topfaith’s 2026/2027 notice (20 May 2026). Subject requirements come from Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s brochure page for Nursing/Nursing Science, which carries no Topfaith remark. The 2023/2024 approval and the resource verification come from two Topfaith news articles (undated pages, approval notice). The NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 (uploaded September 2026) has no row for this programme at Topfaith. The NMCN intake of 100 comes from Topfaith’s article “Nursing Science Department Approved by Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria” (undated). The NMCN position comes from the NMCN list of approved schools, December 2025 (nmcn.gov.ng). The national minimum of 150 and the 30 November 2026 deadline for private universities come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). Comparison figures for other Akwa Ibom universities come from their own 2026/2027 notices or reprints, as labelled in the table. The safe target score and the worked example are my advice. This page will be updated if Topfaith publishes a cut-off for Nursing Science.
