There is no published Gregory University cut-off mark for Marketing. Gregory University, Uturu (GUU) sets one minimum UTME score for all its courses: 140 in 2024/2025 (the university’s own notice) and again in 2025/2026. For 2026 admissions, though, JAMB raised the minimum for every Nigerian university to 150, so 150 is the lowest score you should plan with, and I would aim for 170 or more. Before the score, though, check whether the course is admitting at all.
2027/2028 update: Gregory University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official figures: Gregory’s 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 notices and JAMB’s 2026 university minimum, since no Gregory 2026/2027 notice with a score was available. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Marketing is on Gregory’s JAMB course list, but it is not one of the ten departments on Gregory’s College of Social and Management Sciences page, and I found no NUC report or result line for a Gregory Marketing programme. NUC’s online reports name Gregory’s Insurance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, International Relations, English and Medical Laboratory Science programmes, all with full accreditation after visits in late 2024, and Gregory’s entries in NUC’s 1990 to 2025 results publication could not be read. Before you choose Marketing at Gregory on your JAMB profile, ask the admissions office in writing whether it admits Marketing students for 2027/2028 and what its NUC status is.
If you want marketing at Gregory with fewer unknowns, Gregory Business Administration (full NUC accreditation, 92.00%) covers marketing courses and leads to the same jobs, and Accounting (full, 92.50%) is another option in the same college. Elsewhere, NUC’s 1990 to 2025 results list ABSU Marketing as full with a maturity date of 2028 (see our ABSU Marketing guide) and Clifford University’s Marketing as full with a maturity date of 2027 (Clifford Marketing guide).
Gregory University Marketing cut-off mark at a glance

| JAMB national minimum for universities, 2026 | 150 | JAMB 2026 policy meeting, 11 May 2026 |
| Departmental cut-off for Marketing | Not published | Gregory releases no per-course figures |
| My safe target score | 170 or more | My advice, not a Gregory rule |

Gregory University cut-off mark history for Marketing
| Session | Figure | What it means | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024/2025 | 140 | Lowest UTME score Gregory accepted for post-UTME screening, all courses | Official Gregory notice |
| 2025/2026 | 140 | Same minimum; Gregory had to be the first choice | Myschool reprint of the notice |
| 2026 (national) | 150 | JAMB’s minimum for every Nigerian university | JAMB policy meeting, reported by NAN |
| 2026/2027 (Gregory) | Not found | No Gregory notice with a score could be opened | Unverified |
| Marketing | None published | Blog “departmental cut-off” figures cite no Gregory document | Unofficial |
Gregory has never published a separate Marketing figure, so any site quoting one is guessing. Gregory’s 140 also cannot simply carry over into the 2026 cycle, because universities cannot admit below JAMB’s 150. If you scored between 140 and 149 in 2026, you are below the national line for universities this cycle.
Safe target score for Marketing at Gregory University (my advice)
Gregory is a private university, and private universities tend to admit closer to the minimum than federal and state ones. If Marketing is admitting, it will draw the same kind of candidate as Business Administration, which is usually busier. This table is my judgement from how admission into business courses works at South East universities. Gregory has published nothing like it.
| Your UTME score | My read for Gregory Marketing |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Below JAMB’s 2026 university minimum; not eligible |
| 150 to 159 | Eligible; your Mathematics, Economics and English grades will decide |
| 160 to 179 | Fair to good chance |
| 180 to 199 | Good |
| 200 and above | Strong |
I would aim for 170 or more. The same score keeps Business Administration open, which matters here because that is the course I would switch to if Gregory says Marketing is not admitting.
JAMB subject combination and O’level for Marketing at Gregory University
| Requirement | What the JAMB brochure says |
|---|---|
| Course name on JAMB | Marketing (listed under Social and Management Sciences on Gregory’s course list) |
| UTME | Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and any other social science subject |
| O’level | Five SSC credits including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjects |
| Direct Entry | Two A-level passes including Economics |
| Gregory-specific remarks | None. The remarks name UNICAL, LASU, GOUNI, RUN, Crawford, Babcock, UNIBEN and others, so the general lines apply |
Your four UTME papers are Use of English, Mathematics and Economics, plus one more social science subject such as Government or Geography. This is the same set Business Administration, Accounting and Insurance use, which is useful: if Gregory tells you Marketing is not admitting, you can move to one of those without changing your UTME subjects.
At O’level you need credits in English Language, Mathematics and Economics, plus two other relevant subjects such as Commerce, Accounting, Government or Geography, in not more than two sittings under Gregory’s 2025/2026 notice. GOUNI’s remark lets Commerce replace Economics for Marketing, but that is GOUNI’s rule, so do not rely on it at Gregory.
Marketing suits you if you like people, persuasion and numbers together. Expect statistics, consumer research and a lot of presentations.
Direct Entry
The general line asks for two A-level passes including Economics. Gregory has no remark on this entry. Other universities accept ND or HND holders through their own remarks, but none of those covers Gregory, so ask the admissions office in writing whether it accepts your diploma, and whether Marketing is admitting, before you buy a Direct Entry form.
How Gregory University screens applicants
Gregory runs an online post-UTME screening. The details below come from two notices: the university’s own 19 August 2024 notice for 2024/2025, and the 2025/2026 notice as reprinted by Myschool on 24 July 2025. I could not open a 2026/2027 notice, though a news summary says Gregory opened 2026/2027 post-UTME, Direct Entry, transfer, JUPEB and IJMB admissions.
| Detail | What the notices said |
|---|---|
| Who could apply | 2025/2026: candidates who chose Gregory as first choice and scored at least 140. Others had to do a change of institution at a JAMB office or accredited CBT centre first |
| Where to apply | gregoryuniversityuturu.edu.ng/postutme |
| Steps (2024 notice) | Fill the form, upload a passport photograph and other documents, then pay online |
| Documents (2025 notice) | Passport photograph and UTME result as PDF files, plus WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result (maximum two sittings) |
| Fee | ₦2,000, non-refundable, by ATM card (2025/2026) |
| Written test or interview | Not stated in either notice |
| Enquiries | 0806 094 4681 and 0803 733 3920 (2024 notice) |
Neither notice describes a written test, so plan as if Gregory will rank you on your UTME score and O’level grades. For Marketing, your Mathematics, Economics and English grades will carry the most weight.
Worked example for Marketing applicants
Gregory has not published an aggregate formula. To show how O’level grades can move you up or down, I use an illustrative method common at Nigerian universities: UTME score divided by 8 (up to 50 points) plus O’level points for five relevant subjects, where A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6 and C6 = 5 (up to 50 points). This is my example, not Gregory’s formula.
- Nkechi scored 168 with B2, B2, B3, B3, C4 in English, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Government. UTME points: 168 ÷ 8 = 21. O’level points: 9 + 9 + 8 + 8 + 7 = 41. Illustrative total: 62.
- Chidera scored 190 with C6, C5, C6, C6, C5 in the same five subjects. UTME points: 190 ÷ 8 = 23.75. O’level points: 5 + 6 + 5 + 5 + 6 = 27. Illustrative total: 50.75.
- The result: Nkechi leads by 11.25 points, even though Chidera scored 22 more marks in the UTME, because Nkechi’s O’level points are 14 higher.
How to apply for Marketing at Gregory University, step by step
- Get a JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the SIM linked to that NIN. The code arrives by SMS.
- Register the UTME correctly: choose Marketing at Gregory University, Uturu as your first choice, with Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and one other social science subject. If Gregory is not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before you apply for screening.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: at an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your result is out. Check that every required credit shows on your JAMB profile.
- Apply for Gregory’s screening: go to gregoryuniversityuturu.edu.ng/postutme, fill the form, upload your passport photograph, UTME result and O’level as PDF files, and pay the fee online (₦2,000 in 2025/2026).
- Keep your records: save the payment receipt and the printout of your completed form for clearance.
- Check your status: watch the Gregory portal and your JAMB CAPS page. Every offer appears on CAPS.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gives four weeks. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and fees: Gregory’s acceptance and tuition fees were not in any official source I reached. Pay only the amount on your Gregory portal invoice.
Warning
Every genuine Gregory University offer appears on JAMB CAPS, and JAMB said in May 2026 that admission outside CAPS is illegal. Gregory says it has authorised no agents. Pay screening, acceptance and school fees only through the university’s official portal.
JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities such as Gregory, and in September 2026 it kept the existing deadlines when it restored CAPS (Nairametrics, 28 September 2026). If you applied in 2026, check CAPS rather than waiting for a printed list.
Marketing at Gregory University: the programme
Gregory University is a private university licensed in 2012, on a 100-hectare site at Amaokwe Achara, Uturu, in Isuikwuato LGA of Abia State. Its founder is Prof. Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe. Its College of Social and Management Sciences, headed by Dr. Samson A. Nzeribe as dean, lists ten departments: Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Insurance, Sociology, Hotel Management and Tourism, and Mass Communication. Marketing is not among them, although it appears on Gregory’s JAMB course list.
What you study
Gregory has not published a Marketing curriculum, which fits with the department not appearing on its college page. Where Nigerian universities run Marketing under the NUC benchmark, you can expect:
- Foundations: principles of economics, business mathematics, statistics and introductory accounting.
- Core marketing: principles of marketing, consumer behaviour and marketing research.
- Selling and promotion: sales management, advertising and promotion, and digital marketing.
- Strategy: product and brand management, pricing, distribution and international marketing.
- Practice: business law, SIWES in a company and a final-year project.
Accreditation, degree and duration
I could not confirm NUC accreditation for Marketing at Gregory, and I found no evidence that a Marketing department exists there now. NUC’s online reports for Gregory’s management courses cover Business Administration, Accounting and Insurance, all full. If Gregory teaches marketing inside Business Administration, the Business Administration degree is the one with a published NUC result.
Where it runs, the degree is normally a B.Sc in Marketing, and four years is the usual length for UTME entrants, with Direct Entry students joining at 200 level. Gregory has not stated either for Marketing.

If you are comparing universities, see our MOUAU Marketing and UNN Marketing guides as well.
If you are writing the UTME in 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts, and once results are out, see how to check your JAMB result. Changing your mind about the course later is possible through a JAMB change of course, which is easier before admission starts than after.
Mistakes that cost Marketing applicants a Gregory place
- Choosing Marketing at Gregory without confirming it admits: it is not on the college’s department list.
- Treating 140 as the 2026 figure: JAMB’s 2026 university minimum is 150.
- Leaving out Economics in the UTME: the brochure lists Mathematics and Economics as fixed subjects.
- Relying on Commerce instead of Economics at O’level: that substitution belongs to GOUNI’s remark.
- Not putting Gregory first: the 2025/2026 notice admitted only first-choice candidates.
- Missing the CAPS window: JAMB gives four weeks to accept an offer.

Is Marketing at Gregory University accredited by NUC? I found no NUC result for it. Gregory’s Business Administration, which is fully accredited, is the closer safe option.
Sources and updates
The 140 minimum for 2024/2025, the application steps and the enquiry numbers come from Gregory University’s notice of 19 August 2024. The 2025/2026 first-choice rule, the ₦2,000 fee, the upload list and the two-sitting rule come from the notice as reprinted by Myschool (24 July 2025); I could not open the original. The national minimum of 150, the CAPS window and the warning on admission outside CAPS come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026), and the deadline position from Nairametrics (28 September 2026). The course name comes from Gregory’s JAMB course list and the UTME, O’level and Direct Entry rules from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure entry for Marketing, both checked on 29 October 2026. The department list comes from Gregory’s College of Social and Management Sciences page and the founding details from its About page. NUC’s reports on Gregory’s Business Administration, Accounting and Insurance programmes are the management reports I found for Gregory; none covers Marketing, and Gregory’s line in NUC’s accreditation results, 1990 to 2025 could not be read. The ABSU and Clifford Marketing statuses come from that publication. The safe target table and the worked example are my own advice and illustration. Whether Gregory admits Marketing students, its 2026/2027 notice, fees, test format, NUC status, degree title and duration were not available. Checked on 30 October 2026; this page will be updated if Gregory publishes a new notice or NUC publishes a new result for Marketing.
