The Maduka University Public Health cut-off mark is 150 in the UTME. Maduka gave 150 as its minimum for every programme in its 2026/2027 admission notice (reprinted by Myschool, 15 May 2026), matching JAMB’s national minimum for universities. There is no separate Public Health figure, and no post-UTME test has been announced.
2027/2028 update: Maduka University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Public Health is a B.Sc. in Maduka’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences, listed on the 2026/2027 fee schedule at a reported ₦900,000, and it was one of three programmes the NUC inspected at Ekwegbe in July 2024. It is one of the cheaper health courses at Maduka and one of the easier ones to get into, which makes it a sensible first or second choice for science students.
Check this first: I could not confirm Public Health on Maduka’s JAMB course list. Myschool’s reprint of the list would not open for me, and the third-party copy I could read (universitycourses.ng, updated March 2026) has 18 courses without Public Health, though it also misses Medicine and Surgery, so it is probably out of date. When you register, confirm that “Public Health” shows under Maduka University on JAMB’s portal. If it doesn’t, ESUT, Clifford and Gregory all run Public Health; links are below.

Maduka Public Health cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Maduka minimum for all programmes | Maduka notice as reprinted by Myschool and The Vent Republic |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | Maduka minimum reported for all programmes | Blog report (AndroidPols, 16 November 2025) |
| Any session | Not published | Departmental cut-off for Public Health | None found |
Maduka opened in November 2023, and 150 is the only minimum it has used. Blogs that print a “Maduka Public Health cut-off” higher than 150 do not point to any Maduka document, so I would ignore them.
Safe target score for Public Health at Maduka (my advice)
This is my judgement, not a Maduka rule.
| Your UTME score | My read for Public Health at Maduka |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for a Maduka degree this session |
| 150 to 169 | Eligible, with a fair chance if your five O’level credits are in place |
| 170 and above | Comfortable. 180 or more would also make ESUT Public Health (minimum 180) an option |
Public Health draws fewer applicants than Nursing or Medicine, and at a private university your O’level and your ability to pay fees often decide things once you pass 150. I would still aim for 170 or more, because that keeps a public university backup within reach and protects you if Maduka tightens its health-course standards.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Maduka Public Health
| Requirement | Public Health |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology |
| O’level | Five credits: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics |
| Direct Entry, route 1 | Two A level passes from Biology or Zoology, Chemistry and Physics, plus O’level credits in Mathematics, Physics and English |
| Direct Entry, route 2 | NRN or an approved equivalent, plus five O’level credits including English and four science subjects |
| Maduka remark in JAMB brochure | None (remarks only for ADELEKE and ABUAD) |
Many blogs list the Public Health UTME combination as Biology, Chemistry and “Physics or Mathematics”. JAMB’s brochure entry for Public Health, as reprinted by Myschool, says Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with no Mathematics option. Register Physics. Maduka accepts Direct Entry candidates, but it has not published its own DE rules for Public Health, so the two DE routes above are JAMB’s general ones.
How Maduka admits Public Health candidates
There is no published post-UTME examination at Maduka for 2026/2027. The notice says the admission portal opened after the 2026 UTME results, and reports describe an online form with a ₦5,000 fee. Your UTME score, your O’level credits and your CAPS upload are what the university can see.
Worked example
Maduka has no published aggregate, so I compare each score with the 150 minimum and my 170 target. This is an illustration.
- Ebuka scored 163: 163 minus 150 = 13 above the minimum, 7 below my target. He has credits in all five O’level subjects in one sitting. I would expect him to be considered and would tell him to apply early.
- Adaeze scored 189: 189 minus 150 = 39 above the minimum. She also clears ESUT’s 180 for Public Health. If cost matters to her family, she can apply to both and choose when offers arrive on CAPS.
- Tobenna scored 147: 3 below the minimum. Maduka cannot admit him into any degree this session. IJMB at Maduka (₦800,000 reported for 2026/2027) or a 2027 UTME resit are his routes.
Maduka Public Health fees
| Programme | 2025/2026 (reported) | 2026/2027 (reported) |
|---|---|---|
| Public Health | ₦690,000 (AndroidPols) | ₦900,000 (The Vent Republic) |
| Radiography | ₦690,000 | ₦1,200,000 |
| Doctor of Physiotherapy | ₦690,000 | ₦900,000 |
| Application form | ₦5,000 | ₦5,000 |
| Acceptance fee | ₦50,000 | ₦50,000 |
Feeding is pay as you eat, and reports say fees can be split 60/40 across the session. Neither fee list came from a page I could open on Maduka’s own website, so treat both as reported figures and confirm on the portal before paying.
How to apply for Public Health at Maduka, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME with the right course: Choose Public Health with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, after checking it is listed under Maduka University. Make Maduka University your first choice. If it is not, do a JAMB change of institution before you apply.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB-accredited centre, with every sitting you want counted. Without it the university cannot recommend you on CAPS.
- Fill Maduka’s online form: reports describe the steps as creating a profile, uploading your UTME result and O’level, choosing the programme, paying the ₦5,000 form fee and printing the slip. Start from the official website, madukauniversity.edu.ng, and pick Public Health on the form.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept the offer there before you pay the school. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and fees: the acceptance fee is reported as ₦50,000 and non-refundable. Reports say tuition can be paid in two instalments of 60% and 40%. Pay only into accounts shown on the official portal.
Warning
Public Health is often offered to candidates as a “transfer” from Nursing or Medicine. A genuine change shows on JAMB CAPS as a course change you must accept. Do not accept any offer that does not appear on CAPS, and pay only through the Maduka portal.
JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities. If your offer is not on CAPS by then, ask the admissions office directly.
Studying Public Health at Maduka University
A B.Sc. in Public Health normally runs for four years in Nigeria. It deals with disease across whole populations: tracking outbreaks, planning vaccination and sanitation, health education and health data. Maduka has not published a duration or course outline, so the details below describe the degree in general.
Accreditation
- NUC visit: the NUC conducted a resource verification for Public Health, Radiography and Medicine and Surgery at Maduka on 16 July 2024 (Nairametrics and TheCable, 20 July 2024).
- NUC accreditation: Public Health was not among the seven Maduka programmes announced as fully accredited in July 2026, and I found no NUC accreditation report for it. Status: not confirmed.
- What to ask: whether the programme has had its NUC accreditation visit, and when the first set will graduate.
What you study
- Foundations: biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, physiology and introductory statistics.
- Core public health: epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, health promotion, nutrition, reproductive and child health, health policy and management.
- Field work: community postings, surveys and a final-year research project.
Careers
Graduates work with state ministries and primary health care boards, NGOs and international agencies, hospital quality and infection-control units, health research and data teams, and many go on to a Master of Public Health. Ask the department which professional body, if any, its graduates register with, since that varies with the role you want.

Mistakes Public Health applicants make
- Registering Mathematics instead of Physics: JAMB’s brochure asks for Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- Not checking the JAMB list: confirm Public Health shows under Maduka before you register.
- Leaving O’level off CAPS: the university cannot recommend you without it.
- Ignoring a course change on CAPS: if Maduka offers Public Health in place of your first course, you must accept it on CAPS.
