Peaceland University Political Science Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 & Admission Requirements

Peaceland University Political Science needs at least 150 in the UTME, with no separate cut-off published. See the JAMB course name, subjects, O’level, fees, CAPS steps and accreditation status.

The Peaceland University Political Science cut-off mark is 150 in the UTME, the minimum JAMB set for every Nigerian university for 2026/2027. Peaceland has not published a separate cut-off for Political Science, or a general figure of its own, in any notice I could find. Its own admission page simply asks for the current minimum set by the university and NUC, so 150 is your floor.

2027/2028 update: Peaceland University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Political Science is a B.Sc. in Peaceland’s Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences. It is on JAMB’s course list for Peaceland under the plain title Political Science, and it is on the university’s own programme list on peacelanduni.edu.ng. Below you will find the figures, my safe target score, the UTME subjects, O’level and Direct Entry rules, fees from the university’s schedule, the CAPS steps and what the degree leads to.

Peaceland is young, so the record is short. In both sessions since JAMB set the university minimum at 150, the only figure that applies to Peaceland Political Science is that national minimum. If the university announces a course figure for 2027/2028, I will add it here.

Safe target score for Political Science at Peaceland (my advice)

These bands are my judgement as an admissions adviser, based on how private universities in Enugu usually fill social science places. Peaceland has not published them.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Political Science at Peaceland
Below 150Not eligible for any Peaceland degree in that session
150 to 164Eligible. Apply early and make sure your Government and Mathematics credits are clean
165 to 189A good position for a private university social science course
190 and aboveStrong. It also keeps public options open, such as ESUT, which asks 180 for Political Science

Political Science attracts many applicants because it is a common route into law-adjacent jobs, public service and politics, but a private university’s intake is set by its NUC quota rather than by a merit list made public. I would aim for 165 or more in the 2027 UTME, with a credit in Government (B3 or better helps) and in Mathematics.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Political Science

RequirementPolitical Science at Peaceland
UTME subjectsUse of English, Government or History, and two other Social Science or Arts subjects
O’level (JAMB general rule)Five credits including Government or History, English Language and three other subjects, with at least a pass in Mathematics
O’level (Peaceland’s own rule)Five credits including English Language and Mathematics, plus subjects relevant to the course
Direct EntryTwo A level passes including Government or History (JAMB general rule)
Peaceland remark in the JAMB brochureNone

JAMB’s brochure only asks for a pass in Mathematics, but Peaceland’s FAQ says every applicant needs credits in both English Language and Mathematics, so plan for a credit. The many remarks on the brochure page are for other universities (UNILAG, OAU, ABU, EBSU and others) and do not apply to Peaceland.

My advice on the subjects: take Government rather than History, then Economics and one of Literature in English, Geography or CRS/IRS. Government is what most universities ask for, Economics keeps Public Administration and International Relations open, and you can revise from our JAMB Government syllabus and JAMB Economics syllabus.

Do not mix up the two Political Science courses at Peaceland

JAMB lists two different courses for Peaceland: Political Science (a B.Sc. in the social sciences faculty) and Education and Political Science (a teacher-training degree in the Faculty of Education). If you want to teach Government in secondary schools, the second one is the right course. If you want the straight social science degree, register Political Science. Picking the wrong one means a change of course later.

How Peaceland admits Political Science candidates

The only screening test Peaceland has announced in public was on 18 September 2024, for six health courses (Myschool, 31 August 2024). I found no test, aggregate formula or screening date for Political Science in the 2025/2026 or 2026/2027 notices. Peaceland’s FAQ describes an online application: you complete the form on the e-Admission portal and upload your documents, and the university checks that you meet the requirements before recommending you on CAPS.

Documents Peaceland asks for

  • O’level result (WAEC, NECO or NABTEB)
  • JAMB result slip
  • Birth certificate
  • Passport photograph
  • Local government identification letter
  • NIN slip
  • Direct Entry certificate, where it applies

Worked example (illustration only)

Peaceland publishes no aggregate, so the useful sums are your distance from the 150 minimum and from my safe target of 165. This is not Peaceland’s method.

  1. Chiamaka, 171: 171 minus 150 = 21 above the minimum and 6 above my target. UTME in English, Government, Economics and Literature, with credits in Government, Mathematics and English from one sitting. She is in a good position.
  2. Emeka, 156: 156 minus 150 = 6 above the minimum and 9 below my target. He is eligible; he should apply early, upload his O’level to CAPS at once and keep checking CAPS.
  3. Ifeoma, 182 with D7 in Mathematics: her score is fine, but Peaceland asks for a Mathematics credit. She needs to fix that O’level gap before an offer is possible.

Your admission odds and what helps

At Peaceland’s second matriculation, the pro-chancellor, Felix Ugwuozor, said the university had admitted over 600 students and would have taken more, but the NUC quota for each faculty held it back (TheCable). Places are capped, so scoring 150 makes you eligible without guaranteeing a seat.

  • Apply early: private universities often fill their quota in batches, and later batches have fewer places.
  • Clean O’level: Peaceland asks for five credits including English Language and Mathematics. A missing credit stops you whatever your UTME score.
  • Results on CAPS: many candidates lose offers because their O’level is not uploaded.
  • Respond fast: accept on CAPS and pay acceptance within the time given, or the place can go to someone else.

Fees for Political Science at Peaceland

Peaceland publishes one fee line for all departments in the Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences. The page does not state the session, so confirm the current figures on the portal before you pay.

LevelTuitionOther feesAccreditationTotal
100 level₦70,000₦200,000₦50,000₦320,000
200 level₦145,000₦145,000₦100,000₦390,000
300 level₦145,000₦145,000₦100,000₦390,000

The schedule lists the admission form and acceptance fee at ₦10,000 each for this faculty. Tuition can be paid in two parts (60% and 40%), while other fees and the accreditation charge go with the first payment. No hostel fee is shown for this faculty, though the FAQ says on-campus hostels are available.

How to apply for Political Science at Peaceland, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN. JAMB replies with the profile code you take to the CBT centre.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: choose Peaceland University (not Peaceland College of Education) and the course Political Science, and sit Use of English, Government (or History) and two other Arts or Social Science subjects. Make Peaceland your first choice. If you chose another school, Peaceland says you can still apply, but you may need a JAMB change of institution before it can offer you a place.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to a JAMB-accredited centre and upload every sitting you want counted. If you are awaiting WAEC or NECO, upload as soon as the result is out. The university cannot recommend you on CAPS without it.
  4. Apply on Peaceland’s portal: go to apply.peacelanduni.edu.ng, create an account, enter your JAMB number and score, upload your documents, choose Political Science and pay the admission form fee (₦10,000 on the university’s fee schedule). Print your slip.
  5. Watch for screening: Peaceland has published no written test for this course, so check the portal and your email for any interview or document check, and keep your originals ready.
  6. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer only when it shows the right course at Peaceland University. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay acceptance and fees, then clear: the fee schedule lists acceptance at ₦10,000. Pay only through the official portal or the Admissions Office, then bring your O’level, JAMB result slip, birth certificate, NIN slip, local government letter and passport photographs for clearance.

Warning

Peaceland University says it does not authorise unofficial admission agents. Every genuine offer shows on JAMB CAPS, and JAMB treats admissions done outside CAPS as illegal. Ignore anyone selling “slots”, and pay only through the university portal or its Admissions Office.

JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities (News Agency of Nigeria, 11 May 2026), so Peaceland’s 2026/2027 offers have to be on CAPS by that date. If you are planning for 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and how to check your JAMB result and what to do with the score.

Studying Political Science at Peaceland University

Peaceland University is a private university in Independence Layout, Enugu. It grew out of Peaceland College of Education, which still runs as a separate institution, and began admitting degree students in 2023/2024. Its website lists five teaching faculties for 2026/2027 (Allied Health Sciences, Law, Science and Computing, Education, and Arts, Management and Social Sciences), and its news page carries a 15 September 2026 headline announcing full operational licence approval.

What you study

Peaceland has not published a course outline, so this is how the B.Sc. usually runs in Nigerian universities under NUC’s benchmark. You start with introductory politics, Nigerian government, social science methods and general studies. Later years cover political theory, comparative politics, public administration, international relations, Nigerian foreign policy, political economy, research methods and statistics, with a final-year project.

Duration and accreditation

  • Duration: four years for UTME entrants is the usual length; Peaceland has not stated it on a page I could read.
  • NUC accreditation: not confirmed. Peaceland announced full accreditation for a group of programmes after NUC’s October/November 2025 exercise, and Political Science was not among them. I also found no NUC report page naming Peaceland for this course. A programme usually faces accreditation once its first students reach the later years, so ask the department in writing about its NUC status before you pay fees.

Where it leads

  • Public service, local government and electoral bodies
  • Political and policy research, think tanks and NGOs
  • Journalism and public affairs
  • Party politics, campaigns and legislative aides
  • Postgraduate study, or a later Law degree

For a public university backup in Enugu, compare the ESUT Political Science cut-off mark and the UNN Political Science cut-off mark.

Mistakes Political Science applicants make

  • Registering Peaceland College of Education: it is a separate institution, and from 2026/2027 colleges of education admit only NCE students.
  • Choosing Education and Political Science by accident: it is a different degree with a teaching focus.
  • No Government or History in the UTME: JAMB requires one of them.
  • A Mathematics pass instead of a credit: Peaceland’s rule asks for a credit.
  • Paying before CAPS: accept the offer on CAPS first, then pay through the portal.

If you need to switch courses after registration, see our JAMB change of course guide.

Peaceland University Political Science cut-off mark: frequently asked questions

Is 160 enough for Political Science in Peaceland University? Yes. 160 is above the 150 minimum and Peaceland has published no higher figure for the course. With credits in Government, English and Mathematics it is a workable score, though I would aim for 165 or more.

Can I use History instead of Government for Political Science at Peaceland? JAMB’s brochure accepts Government or History and has no Peaceland remark, so History is allowed. I still recommend Government, because most universities you might use as a backup prefer it.

Does Peaceland University write post-UTME for Political Science? No test has been published for Political Science. Peaceland’s only announced screening test, in September 2024, was for health courses, so expect admission on your UTME score, O’level and documents.

How much is Political Science school fees in Peaceland University? Peaceland’s fee schedule lists ₦320,000 at 100 level and ₦390,000 at 200 and 300 level for all Arts, Management and Social Sciences departments, with a ₦10,000 form and ₦10,000 acceptance fee. The page does not state the session, so confirm on the portal.
