The Renaissance University Cyber Security cut off mark is 150 in the UTME, the minimum RNU applies to every programme it lists for 2026/2027 and the same as JAMB’s national minimum for universities. Renaissance University (RNU), Ugbawka, has not published a separate figure for Cyber Security Science.
2027/2028 update: RNU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Cyber Security Science is on RNU’s own programme list, but it is not on JAMB’s course list for RNU (checked on Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s course list for RNU on 30 October 2026). Until JAMB adds it, you can’t pick Cyber Security Science under RNU when you register, and RNU can’t propose you for it on CAPS under that name. This page explains what to register instead, the requirements, the fees and other universities where Cyber Security is already on JAMB’s list.
Is Cyber Security Science on RNU’s JAMB course list?
| Check | Result | Where I checked |
|---|---|---|
| RNU’s current programme list | Listed as “Cyber Security Science” (Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences; “Computing” on the tuition schedule) | RNU undergraduate page, Direct Entry page and tuition schedule (30 October 2026) |
| JAMB course list for RNU | Not listed. No Cyber Security course of any name appears among RNU’s 22 entries | Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s institution course list (30 October 2026) |
| RNU O’level requirement | No row for Cyber Security Science in RNU’s table | RNU undergraduate page |
| Remarks for RNU in JAMB’s Cyber Security Science entry | None | Myschool brochure reprint |
| Closest course on RNU’s JAMB list | Computer Science (listed twice) | Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s list |
JAMB said at its 2026 policy meeting that admissions done outside CAPS are illegal, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria on 11 May 2026. CAPS only offers a candidate a course that JAMB has on the institution’s list. A letter or receipt from a school is not a substitute for a CAPS offer, and a degree you start without one can be a problem later at NYSC mobilisation.
Myschool’s reprint can lag behind JAMB’s own portal, and RNU’s list there also still shows courses RNU no longer advertises, such as Mathematics and Science Education. So check again on JAMB’s portal when you register. If Cyber Security Science shows up under Renaissance University by then, choose it. If it does not, use one of the routes below.
What to register if you want Cyber Security at RNU
- Register Computer Science with RNU as first choice: it is on JAMB’s list for RNU, and JAMB’s UTME line for Computer Science is the same as for Cyber Security Science (Mathematics, Physics and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography), so your subjects work for both.
- Ask RNU Admissions in writing: ask whether it is admitting into Cyber Security Science for your session and what course your CAPS offer will show. RNU has not published an answer to this, so get theirs before paying. The admissions lines on RNU’s site are 08051569965 and 08145173853.
- Accept only what CAPS shows: if CAPS offers Computer Science, you are a Computer Science student until a lawful change of course is done. Don’t rely on a verbal promise of a later switch.
- Or choose a university where Cyber Security is already on JAMB’s list: see the table below.
Alternatives in the South East
| Option | JAMB position | Cut-off and fees (latest official) |

Renaissance University Cyber Security cut off mark at a glance
| Item | 2026/2027 position | Status |
|---|---|---|
| RNU minimum JAMB score (all programmes) | 150 | Official (RNU, 2026/2027) |
| JAMB national minimum for universities | 150 | Official (JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| Departmental cut-off for Cyber Security Science | Not published | RNU says some courses may need more; no figure given |
| On JAMB’s course list for RNU | No | Myschool reprint, 30 October 2026 |
| Post-UTME test | None published | Not mentioned on RNU’s official pages |
| Application fee | None | RNU FAQ and tuition schedule |
| Acceptance fee | ₦50,000 | RNU FAQ and tuition schedule |
| Session fee | ₦1,600,000 (tuition, hostel, feeding) | RNU tuition schedule and 2026/2027 announcement |
| 2026/2027 admission deadline (private universities) | 30 November 2026 | JAMB, reported by NAN on 11 May 2026 |
Cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | RNU minimum for every programme | Official (RNU undergraduate page, FAQ, announcement) |
| 2026/2027 | Not published | Separate Cyber Security Science figure | None found |
| 2025/2026 | Not confirmed | RNU figure for that session | No RNU notice found; blog figures unverified |
RNU’s 2026/2027 announcement also says candidates with 150 or more in the 2023 and 2024 JAMB examinations can apply. That looks carried over from an older notice, so ask Admissions before relying on an old result.
Safe target score (my advice)
RNU hasn’t published these bands; they are my judgement as an admissions adviser.
| Your UTME score | My read for the RNU computing route |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for RNU this session |
| 150 to 169 | Eligible for Computer Science; check the Cyber Security question with Admissions |
| 170 to 199 | Comfortable |
| 200 and above | Strong. It also meets ESUT’s 200 for Cyber Security, which is on a cheaper public fee scale |
Computing courses draw more applicants than most science courses at private universities, and RNU’s FAQ says some programmes may need more than 150. I would aim for 180 or more.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Cyber Security Science
| Requirement | What applies |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography (JAMB brochure, Cyber Security Science) |
| O’level (JAMB general) | Five credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and two other science subjects |
| O’level (RNU) | No row for Cyber Security Science. RNU’s general rule: five WAEC or NECO credits including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings |
| Safe set I would have | English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (RNU’s Computer Science line) |
| Awaiting results | No RNU rule published; ask Admissions |
Because RNU’s table has no Cyber Security row, I would prepare as if the Computer Science line applies. That set of five credits also satisfies JAMB’s general requirement of Physics plus two other sciences. If you take Economics or Geography as your fourth UTME subject, make sure your O’level still has two sciences besides Physics.
Direct Entry
JAMB’s general Direct Entry line for Cyber Security Science is two A’level passes in sciences including Mathematics, or an NCE merit in Mathematics and one other science or social science subject. RNU’s Direct Entry page lists Cyber Security Science and accepts two A’level passes in relevant subjects, an ND or HND at Lower Credit, or an NCE merit in a related field. The JAMB-list problem applies to Direct Entry too, so check the course on the portal before you pay for Direct Entry registration.
Screening at RNU and a worked example
RNU’s official pages describe a free online application and a document check, with no Post-UTME test, screening fee or aggregate formula. The Direct Entry page says applicants may be called for an interview or asked for more documents.
Worked example (illustrative)
Nkem scored 172 with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and has credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology from one sitting. She wants Cyber Security at RNU.
- Score check: 172 minus 150 = 22 above RNU’s minimum.
- Course check: Cyber Security Science isn’t on JAMB’s list for RNU, so she registers Computer Science with RNU first, with the same subjects.
- O’level check: her five credits meet JAMB’s general line and RNU’s Computer Science line.
- Before paying: she asks Admissions in writing which course her CAPS offer will show.
- Money before resumption on three instalments: 50% of ₦1,600,000 = ₦800,000, plus ₦50,000 acceptance = ₦850,000.
- On four instalments: 40% of ₦1,600,000 = ₦640,000, plus ₦50,000 = ₦690,000.
Her friend Chidi scored 205 with the same subjects. He clears ESUT’s 200 for Cyber Security too, so he can put ESUT first if the course shows under ESUT on the portal, and keep RNU Computer Science in mind as a private option through a change of institution later.
Fees for Cyber Security Science at RNU
| Item | Amount | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Application fee | None | RNU FAQ and tuition schedule |
| Acceptance fee | ₦50,000 | RNU FAQ and tuition schedule |
| Session fee | ₦1,600,000 | RNU tuition schedule and 2026/2027 announcement |
| What it covers | Tuition, accommodation and three meals a day | RNU tuition schedule and FAQ |
| Instalments | Three (50%, 20%, 30%) or four (40%, 20%, 20%, 20%) | RNU FAQ |
Cyber Security Science shares the ₦1,600,000 band with Computer Science, Software Engineering and Medical Laboratory Science, so the fee doesn’t change if you end up in Computer Science. The tuition schedule doesn’t name a session; confirm the current figure with the Bursar.
Your chances, and the 2026/2027 deadline
RNU does not publish applicant numbers or admission totals by course. A candidate with 150 or more, the right O’level and the fees ready usually has a fair chance at a private university in the South East. That is my reading, not an RNU statistic. For this course at RNU, the bigger risk is the JAMB listing, since a score of 150 already meets RNU’s rule.
JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria on 11 May 2026. A new date will be set for 2027/2028.
How to apply to RNU for the computing route, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019.
- Register the UTME: Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography. Choose Renaissance University first and pick Cyber Security Science only if the portal shows it under RNU; otherwise pick Computer Science. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: RNU’s on-campus JAMB CBT centre handles O’level upload, change of institution and CAPS acceptance for a small charge.
- Fill the RNU online form: at rnu.edu.ng/admissions/regular_admission. There is no application fee.
- Get the course question answered: ask Admissions in writing which course your offer will carry.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept only an offer that names RNU. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and the first instalment: only into the account shown on rnu.edu.ng, and confirm with the Bursar.
- Clear with your documents: O’level result, four passport photographs, JAMB result, birth certificate, local government identification letter or certificate of origin, NIN slip and fee receipts.
Warning
Don’t pay acceptance or school fees for a Cyber Security Science place that doesn’t appear on your JAMB CAPS page. RNU’s form is free, and anyone selling a guaranteed slot is not acting for the university.
Studying Cyber Security Science at Renaissance University
RNU lists Cyber Security Science as a B.Sc. in its Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, and its tuition schedule groups it under Computing with Computer Science and Software Engineering. RNU is in Ugbawka, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, about five minutes from ESUT’s Agbani campus; the NUC licensed it in 2005. Computing degrees in Nigeria normally take four years; RNU doesn’t state the duration.
Accreditation is not confirmed. I found no NUC programme report naming RNU for Cyber Security Science, and the NUC’s 1990 to 2025 results file can’t be read as far as RNU. It was not among the five RNU programmes the NUC fully re-accredited in June 2024 (Law, Economics, History and International Studies, Computer Science and Accounting), according to a Myschoolnews report of 30 July 2024. Combined with its absence from JAMB’s list, that is a reason to ask RNU directly about the programme’s NUC approval before paying.
What you study
- Foundations: programming, discrete mathematics, statistics and computer architecture.
- Core: networks, operating systems, databases and cryptography.
- Security practice: network and web security, ethical hacking and penetration testing, digital forensics, security policy and cyber law.
- Final stages: industrial training (SIWES) and a project.
That is how Cyber Security degrees in Nigeria are usually built; RNU hasn’t published its own course list.
Careers
Graduates work as security analysts in banks, fintechs and telecoms, as penetration testers, in security operations centres, in digital forensics and in IT audit. A Computer Science degree with security electives and industry certifications can lead to the same jobs, which is worth remembering if CAPS offers you Computer Science.

Mistakes to avoid
- Assuming RNU’s website listing means JAMB will offer it: check the portal.
- Leaving Physics or Mathematics out of the UTME: both are compulsory for this course and for Computer Science.
- Thin science credits: have Physics, Chemistry and Biology to be safe.
- Paying before CAPS shows an offer: wait for the CAPS offer.
- RNU not first choice: fix it with a change of institution.

Sources and updates
The programme list, the 150 minimum, the O’level table (with no Cyber Security row), the first-choice rule, the CAPS step, the CBT centre note and the documents come from RNU’s undergraduate admissions page (checked 30 October 2026). Fees and the no-application-fee rule come from RNU’s tuition schedule and its 2026/2027 admission announcement; instalments and the remark that some programmes may need more than 150 come from its admissions FAQ; Direct Entry rules come from its Direct Entry page. The JAMB course check uses Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s course list for RNU (22 entries, no Cyber Security course). The UTME, O’level and Direct Entry lines come from Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s Cyber Security Science entry, which has no RNU remark. The national minimum, the 30 November 2026 private-university deadline and the warning on admissions outside CAPS were reported by the News Agency of Nigeria from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting. The June 2024 re-accreditation list comes from a Myschoolnews report of 30 July 2024. Clifford and ESUT figures come from our guides to those courses, which cite each school’s official notices. Safe target scores, odds and the worked example are my advice. This page will be updated if JAMB adds Cyber Security Science to RNU’s list or RNU publishes its 2027/2028 notice.
