MOUAU Marketing Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

The MOUAU cut off mark for Marketing is 150 in the UTME with MOUAU as first choice. Here are the JAMB subjects, O’level list, the NUC reinstatement, screening and a safe target score for 2027/2028.

The MOUAU cut off mark for Marketing is 150 in the UTME, and Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) has to be your first choice. That single minimum covered every course in MOUAU’s 2026/2027 screening notice. The university did not publish a separate departmental figure for Marketing.

2027/2028 update: MOUAU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Clearing 150 gets you into screening, and that is all it guarantees. Below you will find the official figures, a safe target score (my advice, clearly labelled), the two JAMB brochure entries for Marketing and which subjects satisfy both, how MOUAU screens, a worked example, the CAPS steps and the background on why Marketing at MOUAU disappeared and came back.

Marketing returned to MOUAU’s admission list only after the NUC reinstatement reported in March 2025, so there is very little public history for this course. Ignore any blog that shows a “Marketing departmental cut-off” for earlier years: the course was not open to the usual intake for part of that period, and MOUAU published no per-course figures for any year I checked.

Safe target score for Marketing at MOUAU (my advice)

MOUAU does not release the score of the last candidate it admitted into each course. The bands below are my own reading as an admissions adviser, not MOUAU figures, and they assume your O’level subjects are complete.

Your UTME scoreMy read for MOUAU Marketing
Below 150Not eligible for any MOUAU course
150 to 164Eligible for screening, but an offer is uncertain
165 to 189Reasonable chance with good O’level grades from one sitting
190 and aboveStrong. This is where I would aim.

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 180, with credits in English, Mathematics and Economics plus two of Commerce, Government or Financial Accounting, ideally from one sitting. Marketing usually draws fewer applicants than Accounting in Nigerian universities, but MOUAU publishes no applicant numbers, so do not bank on that.

Merit, catchment and your realistic odds

MOUAU is a federal university, so its offers follow the federal mix of merit, catchment and educationally less developed states. It has not published its own split or a catchment list for 2026/2027. Plan as if you must win on merit: a good UTME score and clean O’level grades from one sitting are the two things you control. If Accounting or Business Administration is your real target and your score is modest, Marketing is a sensible first choice inside the same college; it uses the same UTME subjects, so a later change of course is simple.

UTME subject combination and O’level for MOUAU Marketing

RequirementMarketing at MOUAU
UTME (JAMB general entry, Faculty of Administration)Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and one other relevant subject
UTME (JAMB entry under Social and Management Sciences)Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject
MOUAU UTME remarkNone on Myschool’s reprint of either entry
O’level (Administration entry)Five credits including English Language and Mathematics plus three relevant subjects
O’level (Social and Management Sciences entry)Five credits including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjects
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO, NABTEB
SittingsNot more than two is the usual rule; MOUAU weights the number of sittings in screening
Special requirementsNone published beyond screening

JAMB’s brochure lists Marketing twice, once under the Faculty of Administration and once under Social and Management Sciences, and Myschool’s reprints of both show no remark for MOUAU. Both entries fix Mathematics and Economics. The difference is the third subject: “one other relevant subject” in one, “any other Social Science subject” in the other. Government or Geography satisfies both, and they are also what UNN, COOU and UNIUYO name in their remarks. My advice is to register Mathematics, Economics and Government.

At O’level, the Administration entry does not name Economics, but the Social and Management Sciences entry does, and so do most university remarks on the page. Treat an Economics credit as required. Commerce and Financial Accounting are good choices for the remaining slots because they feed straight into your first-year courses. Check the combination on your own JAMB e-brochure before you register, since that is the version JAMB applies.

Direct Entry

The two general entries differ here too: the Administration entry asks for two A-level passes chosen from Accounting, Management, Government and Geography, while the Social and Management Sciences entry asks for two A-level passes including Economics. Other universities add ND, HND or professional routes in their remarks (Abia State University, for example, asks for A-level Mathematics). There is no MOUAU-specific Direct Entry remark on either reprint, and MOUAU’s 2026/2027 notice gave no Direct Entry rules, so ask COLMAS before you buy a Direct Entry form.

Is Marketing at MOUAU accredited? The delisting and the 2025 reinstatement

MOUAU runs Marketing in its College of Management Sciences (COLMAS), and the course appears on the university’s official department list (last modified 19 June 2026). The college has had a rough decade. In August 2017 The Sun reported that the Federal Government, acting on a Federal Executive Council decision passed down through the Ministry of Education, had told seven federal universities of agriculture and technology to stop running management courses and stick to their core mandate. MOUAU was one of the seven, and JAMB removed the affected courses from its brochure. MOUAU’s spokespeople disputed the delisting at the time.

On 20 March 2025 Myschool reported that the National Universities Commission (NUC) had approved the reinstatement of five previously delisted COLMAS programmes: B.Sc Accounting, B.Sc Marketing, B.Sc Banking and Finance, B.Sc Business Administration and B.Sc Economics. The letter, addressed to the then Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, was signed by Abubakar M. Girei, Acting Director of Academic Planning at the NUC, and followed an expert team’s assessment of the university’s staff and facilities. The report does not say when or why the programmes were delisted, so I treat the 2017 directive as background and not as the confirmed cause.

For you, this means B.Sc Marketing is back on MOUAU’s books with NUC approval, and MOUAU’s 2026/2027 screening notice covered every course without excluding COLMAS. The NUC report did not give an accreditation grade, so I am not claiming full accreditation. If you want certainty, ask the department which NUC accreditation status the programme currently holds and whether the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria grants its graduates any exemptions.

How MOUAU screens Marketing candidates

MOUAU’s 2026/2027 screening notice was signed by the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, and reprinted by Myschool on 20 June 2026. I could not open the original on mouau.edu.ng, so read these details as a reprint of the notice.

The notice does not mention a written Post-UTME test for 2026/2027, so I am not going to tell you one was held. After you register, keep checking the portal, because MOUAU said screening results and admission status would appear there.

Worked example: two Marketing candidates compared

MOUAU has not published an aggregate formula. To show how grades and sittings can move a ranking, here is an illustrative method many Nigerian universities use: UTME score divided by 8 (up to 50 points) plus O’level points for five relevant subjects, with A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6 and C6 = 5 (up to 50 points). This is my illustration only.

  1. Chukwuemeka scored 182 with B3 in English, C4 in Mathematics, B2 in Economics, B3 in Commerce, C4 in Government from one sitting. UTME points: 182 ÷ 8 = 22.75. O’level points: 8 + 7 + 9 + 8 + 7 = 39. Illustrative total: 61.75.
  2. Blessing scored 176 with C5 in English, C6 in Mathematics, C4 in Economics, C5 in Commerce, C6 in Financial Accounting from two sittings. UTME points: 176 ÷ 8 = 22.00. O’level points: 6 + 5 + 7 + 6 + 5 = 29. Illustrative total: 51.00.
  3. The gap: 61.75 minus 51.00 = 10.75 points. Six UTME marks separate them, but Blessing’s weaker grades over two sittings cost her far more than that. MOUAU weights both grades and sittings, so a tidy single sitting can outweigh a few extra UTME marks.

How to apply for Marketing at MOUAU, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME with the right subjects: pick Marketing at MOUAU with Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and Government (or Geography), and make MOUAU your first choice. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution before screening opens; if you chose the wrong course, read our JAMB change of course guide.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at an accredited JAMB CBT centre as soon as your result is out. MOUAU weights sittings, so upload your best single sitting if one sitting covers all five subjects.
  4. Register on the MOUAU portal: when screening opens, go to portal.mouau.edu.ng, enter your details and generate the Remita invoice.
  5. Pay ₦2,000: by card or cash at any bank through Remita. Keep the RRR number and the receipt.
  6. Watch the portal: MOUAU posts screening outcomes and admission status there. No test date was published for 2026/2027.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gives four weeks to accept, and our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  8. Pay acceptance and complete clearance: MOUAU’s acceptance and school fees were not in any source I reached. Take the amount from the invoice on your portal and pay only through it.

Warning

Every genuine MOUAU offer shows up on JAMB CAPS, and JAMB said in May 2026 that admissions outside CAPS are illegal. Anyone selling a MOUAU “slot”, a “special list” or a guaranteed change into this course is selling something that does not exist. Pay MOUAU only through the invoice your portal generates.

For the 2026/2027 cycle, JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the date public universities should finish admissions. If you applied this year, look at CAPS rather than waiting for a printed list.

Studying Marketing at MOUAU

MOUAU’s official department list includes a Department of Marketing in the College of Management Sciences, and the NUC reinstatement names the degree as B.Sc Marketing. MOUAU is a federal university of agriculture at Umudike, about 10 km from Umuahia in Abia State, set up by federal decree in November 1992.

What you study

  • Core marketing: principles of marketing, consumer behaviour, marketing research and product and brand management.
  • Selling and distribution: salesmanship, sales management, retail and channel management.
  • Communication: advertising, public relations and digital and social media marketing.
  • Business foundations: economics, accounting, business statistics, business law and management.
  • Specialist areas: agricultural and rural marketing (a natural fit at a university of agriculture), international marketing and services marketing.
  • Industrial training and project: Nigerian B.Sc programmes include a SIWES placement and a final-year research project; MOUAU’s handbook has the exact arrangement.

Degree, duration and accreditation

The degree is B.Sc Marketing, as named in the NUC reinstatement reported in March 2025. Management science degrees in Nigeria normally take four years from 100 level, but I found no MOUAU source confirming the duration. The NUC report gave no accreditation grade, and I found nothing on exemptions from the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) or the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, so I am not claiming either.

Careers

  • Sales and marketing executive in FMCG, banking, telecoms and agro-allied companies.
  • Brand, product or trade marketing roles.
  • Advertising, media planning and public relations.
  • Digital marketing, content and social media management.
  • Market research and customer insight analysis.
  • Agribusiness marketing and running your own trading business.

Mistakes that cost Marketing applicants a MOUAU place

  • Picking Commerce or CRS as the third UTME subject without checking: Government or Geography fits both JAMB entries for Marketing.
  • No O’level Economics credit: one JAMB entry and most university remarks require it.
  • Reading old blog “departmental cut-offs”: MOUAU has published none, and the course was off the intake list for part of the period those tables claim to cover.
  • Treating 150 as an admission score: it only makes you eligible for screening.
  • Not putting MOUAU first: the notice requires MOUAU as first choice.
  • Missing the CAPS window: JAMB gives four weeks to accept an offer.

MOUAU cut off mark for Marketing: frequently asked questions

Is 170 enough for Marketing in MOUAU? 170 clears the 150 minimum and falls inside the band I consider a reasonable chance. Good O’level grades from one sitting will matter a lot at that score.

Is Marketing still offered at MOUAU after the delisting? Yes. The NUC approved the reinstatement of B.Sc Marketing and four other COLMAS programmes, as Myschool reported on 20 March 2025, and Marketing is on MOUAU’s current department list.

What JAMB subjects do I need for Marketing at MOUAU? Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and one more subject; Government or Geography fits both JAMB entries for the course. Confirm the line on your JAMB e-brochure before you register.

Does MOUAU accept two sittings for Marketing? Two sittings are usually accepted, but MOUAU weights the number of sittings in screening. One sitting gives you an edge over a candidate with the same grades across two.

Sources and updates

The 150 minimum, the first-choice rule, the 6 June 2026 opening, the ₦2,000 Remita fee, the portal address, the awaiting-result rule and the weighting of O’level grades and sittings come from MOUAU’s 2026/2027 screening notice signed by the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, as reprinted by Myschool on 20 June 2026; I could not open the original on mouau.edu.ng. The national minimum of 150, the 31 October 2026 admission deadline, the four-week acceptance window and the warning that admissions outside CAPS are illegal come from the News Agency of Nigeria’s report of the JAMB 2026 policy meeting (11 May 2026). The college and department names come from MOUAU’s official Academic Department by Faculty page (last modified 19 June 2026). The UTME, O’level and Direct Entry rules come from Myschool’s reprints of the JAMB brochure entries for Marketing under the Faculty of Administration and Social and Management Sciences, neither of which carries a MOUAU remark. The reinstatement comes from Myschool’s 20 March 2025 report of the NUC letter, and the 2017 background from The Sun (20 August 2017). The safe target table and the worked example are my own advice and illustration, and the course content and career lists describe how the subject is usually taught in Nigeria, not a MOUAU handbook. MOUAU’s fees, the exact degree title and the duration were not published in any source I reached. Checked on 29 October 2026; this page will be updated if MOUAU publishes a departmental cut-off or new requirements.
