OSISATECH Insurance Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

The OSISATECH cut-off mark for Insurance is JAMB’s 100, with the school saying 140 and above is likely to be admitted. See the UTME subjects (Government is not accepted), O’level rules, admission steps and fees.

The OSISATECH cut-off mark for Insurance is JAMB’s polytechnic minimum of 100. OSISATECH has not published a departmental figure for the course, but the school’s FAQ says applicants who score 140 and above are likely to be admitted, a figure it reviews each year.

2027/2028 update: OSISATECH cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Insurance appears on JAMB’s course list for Our Saviour Institute of Science and Technology twice, once under Administration and once under Social and Management Sciences. Both entries carry the same subject rules, and both point to the same ND course. Here is what you need to score, which subjects to write, how admission works without a Post-UTME test, and what the course leads to.

Insurance is a smaller department than Accountancy or Business Administration in most Nigerian polytechnics, and fewer candidates choose it as a first course. That usually keeps competition modest. The school has published nothing on applicant numbers, so read that as my experience of similar courses.

Safe target score for Insurance at OSISATECH (my advice)

This is my advice, not an OSISATECH table.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Insurance at OSISATECH
Below 100Not eligible for full-time ND at any polytechnic
100 to 139Eligible under JAMB rules, below the score the school calls likely; possible, but don’t count on it
140 to 159At or above OSISATECH’s own “likely” line
160 and aboveComfortable. This is the range I would aim for

A 150 to 160 in the 2027 UTME gives you a comfortable margin over the school’s guide.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Insurance at OSISATECH

RequirementWhat JAMB’s brochure says
UTME subjectsUse of English (compulsory) + Mathematics + any two of Economics, Geography, Commerce, Principles of Accounts
O’levelFive credits: English Language (not Literature in English), Mathematics, and any three of Economics/Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Geography, Government, Office Practice, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History/Government, Typewriting, Shorthand (the Social and Management Sciences entry also lists Literature in English)
SittingsNot more than two (OSISATECH admission page)
OSISATECH remark on either brochure entryNone. The general rule applies
Direct EntryBrochure section is blank; OSISATECH mentions year-two entry for NCE or ND holders

Government is where Insurance candidates slip. It is not on the general UTME list for Insurance. A few polytechnics have remarks that accept it (IMT Enugu, Ilaro, Rivers State Poly and Ken Saro-Wiwa Poly among them), but OSISATECH has no such remark. If you want Insurance at OSISATECH, write English, Mathematics and two of Economics, Geography, Commerce and Principles of Accounts. English, Mathematics, Economics and Commerce is the safest pairing.

Government is fine as an O’level credit. The restriction applies to the UTME subjects only.

How OSISATECH admits Insurance candidates

No Post-UTME exam is held. The FAQ tells applicants to present their credentials to the admission officer at the Ogui campus and pay for the form at Ohha Microfinance Bank. The school then decides from your UTME score and O’level and recommends you on JAMB CAPS.

Worked example (illustrative)

Chiamaka scored 147 in English, Mathematics, Economics and Government. Her O’level has credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Civic Education from one sitting.

  1. Score: 147 is 47 above JAMB’s floor and 7 above the school’s guide.
  2. Subjects: Government is not on the general Insurance list, and OSISATECH has no remark accepting it. Her combination may be flagged on CAPS.
  3. O’level: English Language, Mathematics, Economics and Commerce are fine; Civic Education is not on the brochure’s list, so she needs one more listed subject (for example Government or Geography) to make five clean credits.
  4. My advice: ask the admission office before buying the form whether they will recommend her with Government. If not, Business Administration (which accepts Government) is the closer fit at OSISATECH.

How to apply for Insurance at OSISATECH, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register for the UTME: pick Insurance with English, Mathematics and two of Economics, Geography, Commerce or Principles of Accounts. JAMB lists the school as “Our Saviour Institute of Science, Agric. & Tech.”
  3. Write the UTME and clear the minimum: 100 is the JAMB floor for polytechnics; aim well above it.
  4. Upload your O’level on CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre. A result that is not on CAPS cannot be used for your admission.
  5. Change institution if needed: if OSISATECH was not your choice at registration, do a JAMB change of institution first.
  6. Buy the OSISATECH form: the school’s FAQ says you take your credentials to the admission officer at the Ogui campus (#1 Ogui Road, Enugu) for validation, then pay at Ohha Microfinance Bank. Its fees page says admission is not currently done online.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  8. Pay fees and register: pay at the bank named by the school, then complete registration. Returning students use the portal at osisatech.skool-board.com.

Warning

OSISATECH says its fees can only be paid at OHHA Microfinance Bank, #1 Ogui Road, Enugu. Do not pay anyone who offers to “process” your admission, and do not accept an admission letter that never shows up on JAMB CAPS. JAMB has said admissions done outside CAPS are illegal.

For 2026/2027 JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the deadline for polytechnics to complete admissions.

OSISATECH fees for Insurance students

OSISATECH does not list Insurance separately on its fees page. It charges the same amounts for every ND, NCE and HND student. The page carries no session label and was last modified on 19 March 2021, so treat these as the most recent official figures, which may have risen since.

Fee itemAmountHow often
School fees and accommodation₦36,000Per semester
Portal/ICT fee₦3,000Per semester
Utility fee₦3,000Per semester
Admission form₦10,000First year only
Matriculation fee₦10,000First year only
Medical insurance₦5,000First year only
Sports levy₦12,000First year only
Founder’s anniversary₦1,000First year only

Adding those up (my arithmetic, not an OSISATECH total), a first-year ND student on the 2021 figures would pay ₦84,000 across two semesters plus ₦38,000 in one-off charges: about ₦122,000, with accommodation included in the semester fee. The school’s FAQ page (last updated October 2021) also says there is no acceptance fee. Ask the admission office for the current schedule before you pay anything, because 2021 prices are unlikely to have held.

Studying Insurance at OSISATECH

The full-time ND runs for two years with SIWES. After it you can do a year of industrial training and apply for HND. OSISATECH’s admission page also offers part-time ND, which it says does not need the UTME.

What you study

  • Principles and practice of insurance, risk management and insurance law.
  • Life assurance and general (non-life) insurance, including motor, fire and marine.
  • Underwriting, claims handling and insurance marketing and broking.
  • Accounting, economics, business statistics and computer applications, with a final project.

Accreditation

NBTE approved OSISATECH to admit ND students in December 1991, according to the school’s About page, and NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes lists it as a private polytechnic (serial 101, P.M.B. 01161, Enugu). The programme-level accreditation status of Insurance is not confirmed: the directory’s programme tables could not be read, and OSISATECH does not publish it. Before you pay, ask the admission office to show you the current NBTE accreditation for the course. It affects whether you can move on to HND and how employers treat the ND.

Careers

Insurance graduates start as agents, underwriting or claims assistants, broking staff and customer service officers in insurance companies and banks that sell insurance products. The professional route is the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) examinations, and the industry is regulated by NAICOM.

If you are weighing a public polytechnic, see our IMT Enugu Insurance cut-off mark guide, where Government is accepted in the UTME.

Mistakes Insurance applicants make

  • Writing Government in the UTME: not on the general list and no OSISATECH remark accepts it.
  • Dropping Mathematics: it is compulsory in the UTME for Insurance.
  • Counting Civic Education or Literature for English: check each O’level subject against the brochure list.
  • Not accepting on CAPS: the offer must be accepted on JAMB’s portal.
