Renaissance University (RNU) Business Administration Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

Renaissance University, Ugbawka, accepts 150 in the UTME for Business Administration. See the subjects, the O’level exceptions, the ₦1.8m fee, a safe target score and the CAPS steps.

The Renaissance University Business Administration cut off mark is 150 in the UTME. Renaissance University (RNU), Ugbawka, uses that one minimum for every programme in 2026/2027, the same as JAMB’s national minimum for universities. RNU has not published a separate cut-off for Business Administration.

2027/2028 update: RNU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Business Administration is on JAMB’s course list for Renaissance University under that exact name, and it is on RNU’s own 2026/2027 programme list. JAMB’s brochure also has entries with similar names, such as Business Administration and Management for polytechnics, so pick plain Business Administration with Renaissance University as the institution.

The score is rarely the problem for this course. What catches candidates is the O’level: RNU’s table names Economics, while the brochure’s remarks for RNU allow Commerce or Accounting in its place. Below are the official figures, a safe target score (my advice), subjects, Direct Entry, fees and the CAPS steps.

RNU’s 2026/2027 announcement also says candidates who scored 150 or more in the 2023 and 2024 JAMB examinations can apply. That line looks carried over from an earlier session, so if you plan to use an older UTME result, ask Admissions before you pay anything. RNU did not appear on the list of institution cut-offs reported from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting, so the 150 on RNU’s own pages is the figure to work with.

Safe target score for Business Administration at RNU (my advice)

This table is my judgement as an admissions adviser. RNU has not published these numbers.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Business Administration at RNU
Below 150Not eligible for RNU this session
150 to 164Eligible. Likely if your O’level matches
165 to 189Comfortable
190 and aboveStrong, and useful if you also want a public university

Business Administration has no professional-council quota, and at a private university the published minimum usually decides eligibility. I would aim for 170 or more, mainly because RNU’s FAQ says some programmes may need more than 150, and a higher score keeps public universities within reach if your plans change.

UTME subject combination and O’level for RNU Business Administration

RequirementBusiness Administration at RNU
Course name on JAMBBusiness Administration
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject (JAMB brochure general requirement)
O’level (RNU table)Five credits including English Language, Mathematics and Economics
O’level (JAMB brochure)Five credits including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjects
RNU remarks in the brochureCommerce accepted in lieu of Economics; another remark names Mathematics, English Language, Economics or Accounting
Exams acceptedWAEC or NECO (named by RNU)
SittingsNot more than two (RNU)
Awaiting resultsNo RNU rule published; ask Admissions

Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure lists two remarks under the label RENAISSANCE for this course. One says Commerce is accepted in place of Economics. The other says five credits to include Mathematics, English Language, and Economics or Accounting. RNU is the only Renaissance University in Nigeria, so these look like RNU’s own rules, though the brochure labels them RENAISSANCE rather than RNU.

In practice: a candidate with English, Mathematics and Economics credits is safe on every version of the rule. A candidate with Commerce or Financial Accounting instead of Economics can probably be admitted, but should ask Admissions to confirm it, because RNU’s own requirements table still names Economics.

Direct Entry into Business Administration at RNU

RNU’s Direct Entry page sets out the routes below. It does not list separate Direct Entry rules for each course, so read it together with JAMB’s line for Business Administration.

QualificationRNU’s stated minimum
A’level (Cambridge, JUPEB or IJMB)At least two passes in relevant subjects
ND or HNDAt least Lower Credit from a recognised institution
NCEAt least merit in a related field
Also requiredO’level result, passport photographs and a JAMB Direct Entry registration for the current year

JAMB’s general Direct Entry rule for Business Administration asks for two A’level passes including Economics. The brochure also shows an RNU remark accepting an ND credit from a recognised institution in related programmes such as Accountancy, Business Administration, Banking and Finance or Marketing, plus the UTME requirements. ND Business Administration and ND Marketing holders are the obvious fits.

Does RNU write Post-UTME for Business Administration?

RNU’s official pages describe a free online application followed by a document check at clearance. None of them mention a Post-UTME test, a screening fee or an aggregate formula. You still need to be on JAMB CAPS with an eligible score, the right subjects and your O’level uploaded, because every admission in Nigeria passes through CAPS.

RNU’s Direct Entry page adds that applicants may be asked to attend an interview or bring extra documents. For Business Administration, the clearance check that matters most is your Mathematics credit and whichever of Economics, Commerce or Accounting you are relying on.

Worked example (illustrative)

RNU has not published an aggregate formula, so this example checks eligibility and the money you need before resumption, using RNU’s own figures. Take Kelechi, who scored 158 with English, Mathematics, Economics and Commerce, and has credits in English, Mathematics, Financial Accounting, Commerce and Civic Education, with a pass in Economics.

  1. Score check: 158 minus 150 = 8. He clears RNU’s minimum by 8 marks.
  2. UTME check: Commerce counts as a Social Science or commercial subject on most JAMB lists, so his combination fits. He should still confirm it on the e-brochure.
  3. O’level check: no Economics credit. The brochure remarks under RENAISSANCE accept Commerce or Accounting in its place, and he has both, so he asks Admissions to confirm.
  4. Money before resumption: On three instalments, 50% of ₦1,800,000 = ₦900,000, plus ₦50,000 acceptance = ₦950,000. On four instalments, 40% = ₦720,000, plus ₦50,000 = ₦770,000.

His 8-mark margin is thin but enough at RNU on the published rules. If he were also applying to a public university, I would tell him to resit the UTME, because 158 rarely carries a management course at a federal or state university.

RNU’s FAQ gives a fee range of about ₦1.5 million to ₦1.8 million across its courses, and Business Administration sits at the top of it. Law, Nursing, Economics, Banking and Finance and Political Science are in the same ₦1,800,000 band on the tuition page.

Your chances of getting Business Administration at RNU

RNU is a private, fee-paying university and does not publish applicant or intake numbers per course. Going by how private universities in the South East usually fill their places, a candidate with 150 or more, the right O’level credits and the means to pay normally stands a fair chance. That is my reading of the market, not an RNU statistic.

If you have not settled between Business Administration and Accounting, compare the two before you register. They take the same UTME line and the same RNU O’level table, so moving between them on CAPS is usually straightforward. See the RNU cut-off mark for Accounting post.

On timing: JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities, according to the News Agency of Nigeria’s report of the 11 May 2026 policy meeting. The 2027/2028 deadline will be set at JAMB’s 2027 policy meeting. Private universities often keep admitting until close to JAMB’s deadline, which is good news if your result arrives late, but the earlier you apply the better your choice of hostel and course.

How to apply for Business Administration at RNU, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME with the right subjects: pick Business Administration at Renaissance University and take Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and one other Social Science subject. RNU says candidates who chose another school must do a JAMB change of institution before it can admit them.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: RNU lists this in its own admission requirements. Its undergraduate page says its JAMB CBT centre on campus can handle O’level upload, change of institution and CAPS acceptance at a small charge.
  4. Fill the RNU online form: go to rnu.edu.ng/admissions/regular_admission and choose Business Administration. RNU charges no application fee and says the form takes about three minutes. You can also apply in person at the Admissions Office in Ugbawka.
  5. Answer any follow-up from Admissions: RNU publishes no Post-UTME test, but it may call you for an interview or ask for more documents, so keep your phone on and your papers ready.
  6. Accept the offer on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept only when the offer shows RNU and Business Administration. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay acceptance and the first instalment: ₦50,000 acceptance, then at least the first instalment of the session fee before resumption. Pay only into the university account shown on rnu.edu.ng and confirm the payment with the Bursar.
  8. Clear with your documents: O’level result, four passport photographs, JAMB result, birth certificate, local government identification letter or certificate of origin, NIN slip, acceptance and school fee receipts, and A’level result for Direct Entry.

Warning

RNU charges no application fee. Anyone who asks you to pay for an RNU form or promises a guaranteed slot for money is not acting for the university. A genuine offer appears on your JAMB CAPS page, and fees go only into the university account shown on rnu.edu.ng, confirmed with the Bursar.

Studying Business Administration at Renaissance University

Business Administration sits in RNU’s Faculty of Management and Social Sciences with Accountancy, Banking and Finance, Economics, Mass Communication, Political Science, Psychology and History and International Relations. RNU is in Ugbawka, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, about five minutes from ESUT’s Agbani campus, and the NUC licensed it in 2005. The B.Sc. normally takes four years in Nigeria; RNU’s pages do not state the duration.

RNU’s pages say its courses are accredited by the NUC but give no status for each course. I found no NUC report page for RNU Business Administration, and it was not among the five RNU programmes Myschool reported as fully re-accredited in 2024. Its NUC status is not confirmed, so ask Admissions for it before you pay.

What you study

  • Early years: introduction to business, principles of management, economics, business mathematics and financial accounting.
  • Core courses: marketing, human resource management, organisational behaviour, business law, production and operations management.
  • Later years: strategic management, entrepreneurship, research methods, industrial training (SIWES) and a final-year project.

Careers

Graduates go into management trainee schemes, sales and marketing, human resources, banking operations, logistics and procurement, and many start their own businesses. Professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management or the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria add weight to the degree.

If your UTME subjects or course are wrong, read our JAMB change of course guide before admission closes.

Mistakes that cost Business Administration applicants an RNU place

  • Leaving out Mathematics or Economics in the UTME: both are in JAMB’s line for this course.
  • A pass in Mathematics: every version of the rule asks for a credit.
  • Assuming Commerce will do without asking: the brochure says yes, but RNU’s own table names Economics.
  • Picking a similar course name on JAMB: choose Business Administration at Renaissance University.
  • RNU not your first choice: fix it with a JAMB change of institution.
  • Stopping after CAPS acceptance: pay acceptance and clear at Ugbawka.

If you are sitting the UTME again, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and how to check your JAMB result.
