Peaceland University Economics Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

Peaceland University has not published a cut-off mark for Economics, so JAMB’s 150 is the floor for 2027/2028. See the subject combination, O’level rules, a safe target score, the application steps and the programme’s accreditation position.

The Peaceland University Economics cut off mark is not published. Peaceland has never released a departmental figure, so the score that applies is JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities, 150. You need at least 150 in the UTME to be considered, and I would aim for about 170. Economics is on JAMB’s list of Peaceland courses under the name Economics, and it is on Peaceland’s own 2026/2027 list as B.Sc Economics in the Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences. Its NUC accreditation is not confirmed: Economics is not among the 17 programmes Peaceland announced as fully accredited after NUC’s 2025 exercise, so ask the university for its NUC position before you pay fees.

2027/2028 update: Peaceland University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027), which for Peaceland means JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities, because the university has not published a score of its own. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Below you will find the official numbers, my safe target, the exact JAMB subjects (Mathematics is compulsory, which catches many arts students), the O’level rules from Peaceland’s own FAQ, how the university admits, a worked example, the CAPS steps and what the degree involves.

Peaceland only started admitting degree students in 2023/2024, so there is very little history to read. Neither of its two recent admission notices that I could find gives a score. JAMB’s 150 is the legal floor for every university, and no notice can admit you below it. Plan with 150 as the line you must cross and treat everything above it as your margin.

Safe target score for Economics at Peaceland (my advice)

This table is my judgement as an admissions adviser. Peaceland has not published anything like it.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Peaceland Economics
Below 150Not eligible for any university course in 2026
150 to 169Eligible; an offer depends on your O’level grades and how early you apply
170 to 189Strong for a new private university. This is the range I would aim for.
190 and aboveVery strong

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 170 or higher with credits, ideally B grades, in English, Mathematics and Economics. A strong Mathematics grade matters more for Economics than candidates expect, because the degree leans on statistics and econometrics from the second year.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Peaceland Economics

RequirementEconomics at Peaceland
UTME subjectsUse of English, Economics, Mathematics and one of Government, History, Geography, Literature in English, French, CRS or IRS
O’levelFive credits including English Language, Mathematics and Economics, plus two Arts or Social Science subjects
Peaceland’s general ruleFive credits including English Language and Mathematics, plus subjects relevant to the course (FAQ page)
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO or NABTEB (named on Peaceland’s FAQ page)
SittingsNot stated by Peaceland; one sitting is safest
Peaceland remark in the brochureNone. The general JAMB rule applies

Two things trip people up. First, Mathematics is fixed in the UTME combination, so a candidate who writes Economics, Government and Literature is registered for the wrong combination. Second, Commerce and Accounting are not on JAMB’s list for the fourth subject; pick Government, History, Geography, Literature in English, French, CRS or IRS.

The JAMB brochure gives a Mathematics waiver for Economics only at a few named universities. Peaceland is not one of them, and its own FAQ asks every candidate for a Mathematics credit.

Direct Entry

JAMB’s general Direct Entry rule for Economics is two A level passes, one in Economics and the other from Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Accounting, Business Management, History or Government. Peaceland’s FAQ also invites ND, NCE, IJMB, JUPEB and HND holders to apply. It does not say what grade it wants for each, so ask the Admissions Office before you buy a Direct Entry form.

How Peaceland screens Economics applicants

Peaceland has not published a Post-UTME test, a screening fee or screening dates in any source I could reach. What its own admissions FAQ does say is this:

  • JAMB score: you need the current minimum approved by the university and the NUC. The page does not print a number, so 150 applies.
  • Not your first choice? You can still apply and do a JAMB change of institution where it is needed.
  • Direct Entry: ND, NCE, IJMB, JUPEB, HND or equivalent holders may apply.
  • Transfers: students from recognised universities may apply, subject to a review of their records.
  • O’level: at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, plus subjects relevant to the course.
  • Documents: O’level result, JAMB result slip, birth certificate, passport photograph, local government identification letter, NIN slip, acceptance fee receipt, school fees receipt, and your Direct Entry qualification if you have one.
  • Fees: they vary by programme, and instalment payment is allowed under university rules. Peaceland’s fee schedule lists ₦320,000 at 100 level and ₦390,000 at 200 and 300 level for the Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences, with a ₦10,000 form and ₦10,000 acceptance fee.

In practice, a young private university like Peaceland usually decides on your UTME score, your O’level grades and your documents. Some add a short test or interview. Peaceland has not said whether it does, so be ready for one.

Worked example for Economics candidates

Peaceland has no published aggregate formula, so there is nothing official to combine. The useful sums are the distance between your score, the 150 floor and my target.

Take Ifeoma, who scored 184 in Use of English, Economics, Mathematics and Government, with B3 in English, B3 in Mathematics, B2 in Economics, C4 in Government and C5 in Literature from one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 184 minus 150 = 34. She clears the floor by 34 marks.
  2. Against my target: 184 minus 170 = 14. She is above the range I would call strong.
  3. O’level: credits in English, Mathematics and Economics plus two arts subjects, one sitting. Nothing rules her out.
  4. What I would advise: apply on the Peaceland portal early, upload her O’level to CAPS and keep checking CAPS for the offer.

Tobenna scored 158 but has D7 in Economics. 158 minus 150 = 8, so his score is enough to be considered, but a D7 is a pass, not a credit. He would need to fix the Economics grade (a NECO or WAEC GCE resit) or apply for a course that does not need it.

How to apply for Economics at Peaceland University, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: pick Economics at Peaceland University with Use of English, Economics, Mathematics and one of Government, History, Geography, Literature in English, French, CRS or IRS. If Peaceland was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution, which Peaceland’s FAQ allows.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre. A result that is not on CAPS cannot be used to admit you.
  4. Apply on Peaceland’s portal: go to apply.peacelanduni.edu.ng, create an account, fill the application and upload the documents listed above. Use the same names as on your JAMB and WAEC or NECO records.
  5. Attend any screening: if Peaceland invites you for a test or interview, go with the originals of every document.
  6. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept only when the offer is the course you want. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains every status.
  7. Pay acceptance and school fees: pay only through Peaceland’s official student portal or at the Admissions Office, print your JAMB admission letter and go for clearance.

Warning

Peaceland says it does not authorise any admission agent. Every genuine offer appears on JAMB CAPS, and payments go through the official student portal or the Admissions Office. Anyone who asks you to pay them for a “slot” is not acting for the university.

JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities, a month after the 31 October date for public universities, and it says any admission done outside CAPS is illegal. If you sat the 2026 UTME and still have no admission, Peaceland can still offer you a place on CAPS up to that date. Check CAPS regularly and read what to do with your JAMB score if you are planning for 2027.

Your chances of getting Economics at Peaceland

TheCable reported, at Peaceland’s second matriculation, that the university admitted over 600 students across four faculties and that its NUC quota limited how many it could take. So there is a cap, even at a private university. In my experience, though, a new private university’s arts and social science departments are rarely as crowded as Medicine or Nursing, and qualified candidates who apply early and complete their documents tend to get offers.

For Economics, the deciding factor is usually your O’level, especially Mathematics and Economics. A candidate with 165 and clean credits is in a better place than one with 190 and a missing Mathematics credit, because the second candidate cannot be admitted at all.

If you fall short at Peaceland, look at universities nearby that run Economics with confirmed full NUC accreditation. Gregory University, Uturu had its Economics programme accredited in full after a December 2024 visit, and the NUC lists Clifford University’s Economics as full until 2029.

Studying Economics at Peaceland University

Economics sits in Peaceland’s Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences, alongside Accounting, Management, Political Science and Psychology. The university has two campuses in Enugu, at Independence Layout near MSP and on the Enugu Abakaliki Expressway at Emene; Peaceland does not say which programmes run on which campus. The degree is a B.Sc. Economics. Four years is the normal length for a social science degree in Nigeria (three for Direct Entry), but Peaceland has not published its own duration.

What you study

  • First year: principles of economics, mathematics for economists, introductory statistics, and university general studies.
  • Core theory: microeconomics and macroeconomics at intermediate and advanced levels.
  • Quantitative work: mathematical economics, statistics and econometrics, often with software such as Excel, Stata or EViews.
  • Applied areas: money and banking, public finance, development economics, international economics and the Nigerian economy.
  • Final year: a research project, usually on a Nigerian economic question.

Accreditation

Peaceland University was licensed in 2023 and grew out of Peaceland College of Education, which still runs as a separate college. After NUC’s October/November 2025 accreditation exercise, Peaceland announced full accreditation for 17 programmes (reported by Uniblog NG on 23 April 2026), and Economics is not on that list. One unofficial site, Allschool, prints a longer version of the list that adds Economics, but the other reports of the announcement do not, so I am treating it as not confirmed. I also found no NUC report page naming Peaceland University for it. A programme usually gets its first accreditation visit when its first students are close to graduating, so ask the department in writing about its NUC status before you pay fees. Separately, Peaceland announced on 15 September 2026 that it had received its full operational licence, which covers the university as a whole rather than individual programmes.

One NUC report that comes up when you search “Peaceland” is for Political Science Education at Peaceland College of Education (full accreditation, visit 26 to 28 November 2024). That degree is affiliated to Abia State University and belongs to the college, not the university, so it says nothing about this programme.

Careers

  • Banking, insurance and other financial services.
  • Economic research and policy units in government ministries, agencies and think tanks.
  • Data and business analysis, where your statistics training carries over.
  • Consulting, journalism on business and the economy, and teaching.
  • Postgraduate study, such as an M.Sc. in Economics or an MBA.

Peaceland also runs B.Sc.(Ed.) Economics in its Faculty of Education for people who want to teach the subject. If your first choice was another university, read our JAMB change of course guide, and check when JAMB 2027 registration starts if you are planning ahead.

Mistakes that cost Economics applicants a Peaceland place

  • Leaving out Mathematics in the UTME: it is part of the fixed combination.
  • Using Commerce as the fourth subject: it is not on JAMB’s list for Economics.
  • A pass, not a credit, in Economics or Mathematics: D7 and E8 do not count.
  • Paying an agent: Peaceland says it authorises none.
  • Forgetting CAPS: without O’level on CAPS, the university cannot admit you.
  • Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: acceptance fee, school fees and clearance at Peaceland are separate steps.
