OSISATECH Cut-Off Mark for Computer Science 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

OSISATECH Computer Science cut-off mark for 2027/2028: JAMB’s 100 minimum, OSISATECH’s 140 guidance, a safe target, the UTME subjects and O’level credits (Physics compulsory), fees, CAPS steps and the ND course.

The OSISATECH cut-off mark for Computer Science starts at 100, JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics, but Our Saviour Institute of Science and Technology, Enugu sets its own bar higher: its official FAQ says applicants who score 140 and above are likely to be admitted. There is no separate Computer Science figure. Computer Science is on JAMB’s course list for OSISATECH, so you can choose it on your JAMB form, and I would plan with 150 because it is the course most science students ask for.

2027/2028 update: OSISATECH cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Below are the official figures and where they come from, a safe target score, the exact UTME subjects and O’level credits JAMB lists for polytechnic Computer Science, how OSISATECH admits students, a worked example, the CAPS steps and what the two-year National Diploma covers.

OSISATECH Computer Science cut-off mark: the official figures

Two figures matter. The first is JAMB’s. At its 2026 policy meeting JAMB kept the minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics at 100 for 2026/2027 (NAN, 11 May 2026), the same figure it set for 2025/2026 (Nairametrics, 8 July 2025). Below 100 no polytechnic can admit you.

The second is OSISATECH’s own. Its official FAQ page, published in September 2021, says the cut-off is reviewed every year and that, for now, applicants who score 140 and above are likely to be admitted. That line covers all courses; there is no separate figure for Computer Science. The school has not posted a newer number, so 140 is the best guide to what OSISATECH expects.

If a blog quotes a different OSISATECH departmental cut-off for Computer Science, ask for the school notice behind it. I could not find one.

Safe target score (consultant advice)

I would aim for 150 or more. That is my planning number, not an OSISATECH figure. It puts you clear of the school’s 140 line, which dates from 2021 and is reviewed yearly, and Computer Science is the science course most applicants want. A score of 150 also keeps IMT’s Computer Science open as a backup.

UTME subject combination for Computer Science at OSISATECH

JAMB’s polytechnic brochure entry for Computer Science asks for Mathematics and any two of Geography, Physics, Economics and Chemistry, with Use of English compulsory for every candidate (brochure entry). The page carries remarks for about forty polytechnics, including IMT Enugu, Abia Poly and Yabatech, but none for OSISATECH, so the general rule applies to you.

SubjectStatus
Use of EnglishCompulsory for every UTME candidate
MathematicsCompulsory for Computer Science
Two of Geography, Physics, Economics, ChemistryYour choice
BiologyNot on the list for Computer Science

The combination I would sit is English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Physics is optional in the UTME, but you need an O’level credit in it anyway, IMT Enugu requires it in the UTME, and Physics with Chemistry also fits OSISATECH’s Computer Engineering and Electrical/Electronics courses if you have to switch. An arts or commercial student can sit English, Mathematics, Economics and Geography and still qualify for OSISATECH, but that set closes the engineering doors.

O’level requirements for OSISATECH Computer Science

The brochure asks for five credits in Mathematics, a basic science and three other subjects from a list that covers Economics, Geography, Government or History, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, English Language and Typewriting. Credits in English Language and Physics are compulsory. OSISATECH’s own admission page adds that the five credits must come from no more than two sittings of WAEC, GCE, SSCE, NECO, NABTEB or an equivalent, with English and Mathematics among them.

RequirementDetail
Number of creditsFive
Compulsory creditsMathematics, English Language, Physics
Sensible other twoChemistry plus Further Mathematics, Economics or Biology
SittingsNo more than two (OSISATECH admission page)
Exams acceptedWAEC, GCE O’level, SSCE, NECO, NABTEB or equivalent

A pass in Physics is not enough. The brochure lets a few named schools, such as Adamawa Poly and Abia Poly, accept a Physics pass, and OSISATECH is not one of them.

HND, Direct Entry and part-time study

JAMB’s brochure gives no Direct Entry rule for polytechnic Computer Science, and HND admission does not go through the UTME. OSISATECH’s admission page says HND applicants need an ND result from an accredited polytechnic. The 2018 schoolings.org list shows Computer Science at both ND and HND level at OSISATECH. Our OSISATECH HND guide covers that route.

OSISATECH also runs part-time ND, and its admission page says part-time applicants do not need the UTME. A 2018 blog list of OSISATECH courses (schoolings.org) shows Computer Science under the School of Continuing Education as well. If you missed the UTME, ask the school whether part-time Computer Science is admitting and how long it runs before you pay; the details are not on the website.

OSISATECH screening and a worked example

OSISATECH’s FAQ page says the school does not currently hold a post-UTME exam, that applicants who passed JAMB and have good O’level results can apply, and that you first present your credentials to the admission officer at the Ogui campus for validation, then pay for the form at Ohha Microfinance Bank, #1 Ogui Road. The fees page lists the form at N10,000. The admission page also says forms are bought at the school, so plan to go in person. The school’s published email for questions is osisatechinstitute@gmail.com.

Without a test, your ranking is likely to rest on your UTME score and your O’level grades, which is why the worked example below uses only those two.

Worked example (illustrative)

Ifeoma scored 158 with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Her NECO result, one sitting, reads English C5, Mathematics B3, Physics C4, Chemistry C6 and Economics B2. She clears JAMB’s 100, OSISATECH’s 140 and my 150 target, and she holds the three compulsory credits.

Many polytechnics rank ND applicants with a 50/50 mix of UTME and O’level. Using that only as an illustration: the UTME half is 158 divided by 8, which is 19.75. With A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6 and C6 = 5, her five grades give 6 + 8 + 7 + 5 + 9 = 35. Her illustrative total is 54.75 out of 100. OSISATECH has published no aggregate formula, so use this only to compare yourself with other applicants.

If Ifeoma had a D7 in Physics instead of C4, her UTME score would not save her: Physics is a compulsory credit, so she would need a resit before applying.

How to apply for Computer Science at OSISATECH

  1. Create your JAMB profile: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line you will use for JAMB. The reply carries your profile code.
  2. Pick OSISATECH and Computer Science: JAMB lists the school as Our Saviour Institute of Science, Agric. & Tech. Choose it at registration, or move to it later with a JAMB change of institution.
  3. Write the UTME: aim for 150 or more, then check your JAMB result.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB accredited centre, and upload both results if you are using two sittings. A school cannot recommend you on CAPS without them.
  5. Validate and buy the form: take your JAMB result and O’level certificates to the admission officer at the Ogui campus, #1 Ogui Road, Enugu, then pay for the form (N10,000 on the 2021 fees page) at Ohha Microfinance Bank.
  6. Accept on CAPS: JAMB’s 2026 rules give you four weeks to accept an offer before it can lapse. Our JAMB CAPS guide shows the screens.
  7. Pay and register: print your JAMB admission letter, pay school fees at Ohha Microfinance Bank and keep every receipt. Your student portal is osisatech.skool-board.com.

JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education, so the current cycle runs until 31 December 2026. If you chose a different course or school on your JAMB form, use JAMB change of course together with change of institution before then.

What OSISATECH charges (older official figures)

OSISATECH’s fees page lists one set of charges for its ND, HND and NCE students, payable at Ohha Microfinance Bank on Ogui Road. The page was last changed in March 2021 and names no session, so treat these as a guide and confirm the current amounts before you pay. The 2021 FAQ adds that OSISATECH charges no acceptance fee; you still accept the offer on JAMB CAPS.

Warning

JAMB has said admissions outside CAPS are illegal. A full-time ND place at OSISATECH must show on your CAPS page before you pay school fees. Do not pay anyone who offers a place without it.

Your chances of getting Computer Science at OSISATECH

OSISATECH has released no applicant or intake numbers, so this is my judgement. A first-choice candidate with 150 or more, credits in English, Mathematics and Physics in one sitting and an early CAPS upload should be in a good position. Below 140 you are under the school’s own guidance, so have a second option ready.

What you study in ND Computer Science

OSISATECH has not put its course outline online. A polytechnic ND in Computer Science follows NBTE’s national curriculum, and the general pattern is:

  • Programming, starting with problem solving and a first language, then a second language and object-oriented ideas
  • Computer hardware and how computers are assembled and maintained
  • Mathematics and statistics for computing
  • Databases, operating systems, networking and web work
  • Communication in English, entrepreneurship and citizenship courses common to all NDs
  • A final-year project

Between the first and second year you do SIWES, an industrial attachment in an IT unit, a computer business or an office. NBTE grades an ND as Distinction, Upper Credit, Lower Credit or Pass, and that grade decides your HND entry, so it pays to take the first semester seriously.

Duration and accreditation

A full-time ND takes two years (four semesters). An HND takes two more years after the ND and a year of industrial training. OSISATECH says NBTE approved it to run ND programmes in December 1991, and the schoolings.org article lists Computer Science among its NBTE-accredited courses, but I found no current NBTE document confirming the programme’s accreditation status, so treat it as not confirmed and ask the department for its latest NBTE accreditation letter before you pay school fees.

Careers

  • IT support and computer maintenance in schools, banks, hospitals and offices
  • Junior programming and web development
  • Data entry, database and records work
  • Running a computer business, training centre or repair shop
  • HND in computing, or Direct Entry into a university degree, after the ND

Mistakes to avoid

  • Writing Biology in the UTME: JAMB does not list it for polytechnic Computer Science.
  • Having only a pass in Physics: OSISATECH has no Physics waiver, so you need a credit.
  • Using three sittings: OSISATECH accepts no more than two.
  • Leaving your O’level off CAPS: the school cannot recommend you without it.
  • Paying before your admission shows on CAPS.

OSISATECH Computer Science cut-off mark: FAQs

What is the cut-off mark for Computer Science in OSISATECH Enugu? JAMB’s minimum is 100, and OSISATECH’s FAQ says applicants with 140 and above are likely to be admitted. I suggest 150 or more.

Can I study Computer Science at OSISATECH without Physics? You can leave Physics out of the UTME by sitting Mathematics with two of Geography, Economics and Chemistry. You still need an O’level credit in Physics, which JAMB makes compulsory for this course.

Does OSISATECH accept awaiting result for Computer Science? You can write the UTME while awaiting results, but the school cannot recommend you on CAPS until your O’level is released and uploaded, so get it uploaded as soon as it comes out.

How much is OSISATECH school fees for Computer Science? The official fees page lists N36,000 per semester for school fees and accommodation, plus smaller charges, but it was last updated in March 2021. Confirm the current amount at the school.
